Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a lovely place to sit outside in the summer. You can now order large and regular portions, which we think is great. We love the Estonian appetizers.

We discovered the Restaurant zur Krone by chance near the former Cistercian monastery in Otterberg. A traditional restaurant in Otterberg that specializes, among other things, in the preparation of delicious schnitzels. The Estonian delicacies, such as the "Kiluvõileib," which literally means "sprat and buttered bread," are also real delicacies. We entered the restaurant and were greeted very warmly and shown to our seats. It's simply wonderful to see how this restaurant is run with heart and soul. The food was absolutely outstanding. The many great varieties make choosing really difficult. Whatever you choose, the quality of the cuisine offered by the hosts is simply excellent. We felt truly at home. Thank you so much for this wonderful evening.

This is a hidden gem. The food is excellent, lots of good choices for beer and the service is awesome. It’s so good I’d eat schnitzel every day to try all the different ones they have.

Very tasty schnitzel and friendly service. The portions were quite good, and it didn't take long for our food to arrive. You can put together your own salad at the salad buffet. We'd be happy to come back.

We visited this restaurant for the first time and have to say it was excellent. We arrived early around 1800/ 6pm. From the location, the ambiance, service and food. The variety of Schnitzel to choose reached over 2 pages. The dishes are being served with Spätzle, French Fries, Kroketten and Bratkartoffeln as well as a Salad. As a Season Special one could also order Pfefferlinge. The pricing is great with a small portion for € 14,50 and the large portion for € 19,00. The large portion was way too much and the second Schnitzel of the plate went home with us. The restaurant is barriers free/ handicap or stroller friendly. Biergarten seating outside. Don’t miss out in this location if you are looking for Schnitzel!

A very nice, rustic restaurant with a great atmosphere. We were there for lunch, and had rump steak with chanterelle mushrooms. It tasted very good. We weren't asked how we wanted the rump steak cooked, but luckily it came just the way we like it: slightly pink. The service was very prompt and friendly. 5 stars.

If a guest orders schnitzel with Gorgonzola sauce, then they love Gorgonzola and know what it tastes like. If I, as a "chef," have the nerve to serve the guest a simple roux without a single gram of Gorgonzola in it, then perhaps that person should look for another profession. Definitely not recommended.

It was worth it. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic, and the ambiance was great too. As I said, the 50 km was worth it.

We were in the beer garden. The seating is very nice. All seats are shaded. The food was very tasty. The schnitzels were large and delicious. The wait for the food was okay. The service was attentive despite the intense heat. We were all satisfied and can recommend the Krone.

The food was tasty, and there was a good selection of dishes. The service was poor. No smiles, no questions asked during the meal. We would have liked more, but no one came by. Even after the meal, no one asked if we wanted anything else. In short: good food, poor service.

Beautiful beer garden, great menu, and served by a very friendly waitress. We had to wait a bit for the food, but it was worth it. The Cordon Bleu Classic was simply amazing. Very tasty, juicy, with a delicious breading, and the salad dressing was also delicious. It was a great evening; we'll be back. Ordering and pickup is also possible.

There were nine of us. We tried seven different schnitzel varieties and two burgers, and all nine guests thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The selection of schnitzel varieties is extensive, the service was attentive and friendly, the portions were enormous, and the ambiance was rustic and appealing. We'd be happy to return.

We stopped in for dinner with my family. We had the mushroom schnitzel , schweizer schnitzel and the etwas wüziger art schnitzel which were all very good. The salad bar is included with the meal as well.

Not really, after waiting for an hour I was told that the food would still take about 20 minutes. There were four of us and we only ordered schnitzel. The same thing happened to a table next door and we decided not to eat like we did. 🤷‍♂️☹️☹️

We were there for the first time today and I have to say it wasn't the last time. We were all extremely satisfied. The food (schnitzel with fries) was so delicious and the portions were very large! Also have great prices! Service was also unbeatable. We were there with our kids and including 2 small children in strollers and a solution was immediately sought and found so that we didn't have to go upstairs with the kids and the strollers. So really very child friendly and generally friendly and accommodating. For us the best restaurant in the area! Until next time🍀

We were there for the first time last night and were very satisfied. The schnitzel was great, the atmosphere was very nice, and the journey of around 40km was worth it. It's definitely not the last time we've been there.

The restaurant can be recommended without reservation. Cozy atmosphere. The starters and schnitzels were extremely tasty. We will come again.

The location in the middle of the city is very nice. The Schnitzehaus lives up to its name. Portions are very generous and tasty. The service was also very friendly and helpful. We had the rest packed up and took it with us for tomorrow.

The question of whether it was tasty also fell by the wayside. Afraid of the answer??? It's actually a shame for this quaint restaurant. I'm happy to try out different locations for our clique, but unfortunately ZUR KRONE doesn't get a good recommendation.

We ate there as a couple. The waitresses are totally overwhelmed. The terrace filled up after we came. Food came after almost two hours of waiting. Other guests waited patiently for 40 minutes before they even received a menu. Unfortunately the food is just mediocre. Could be seasoned better. The salad buffet is not good at all. The sauces are ready to be squeezed out of the tube/bottle. The atmosphere is really nice, so quaint and cozy. The waitresses, including the boss, should also be a bit friendlier and not come to the table annoyed when they are called.

Very nice German restaurant, worthy of the space at the abbey church and offering great schnitzel dishes (among other things). Due to the lack of staff, the economy is quickly reaching its capacity limit, even in the beautiful outdoor area. Plate dishes with schnitzel are available from around €12.50, beers from around €4. Bring your time and enjoy the place!

It's just nice when a restaurant is run with so much heart and soul. You just notice that in everything. The food was absolutely great. We have rarely eaten such a good schnitzel and the great variations make it really difficult to choose. But no matter what you decide, this is simply great quality cuisine. The innkeepers are also great. We felt so comfortable and had a great time. 5 stars and thank you for this great evening.

I can't help but keep coming back weekly! I can't think of anything I have not ordered from the menu, and it has always been delicious and creative! The schnitzel with camembert and cranberries is my favorite!

Starter great, schnitzel well, very very thin then it looks like a lot, you can count chanterelles, fries far too few. Operation is not well trained and cannot provide clear information when asked. I think there is... if you don't put your hair together then it just gets stuck in the food.

In this restaurant it depends on the mood of the innkeeper and you are not always okay. Last night we wanted to eat something in the Krone again. There were a few tables occupied outside. None in the restaurant. When we wanted to sit down, we were told by the innkeeper that we couldn't get anything because there were several guests waiting for their food. Something like this has never happened to me in my life so far. Apparently the innkeeper is overwhelmed or too stingy to hire staff. It would also make sense to serve the schnitzels in a normal size and make the dish a little more presentable and tasty.

We know the owners from Kaiserslautern from the Flammkuchen on Ludwigstrasse. The food is very good. And the portions are unique. In three sizes. With the larger portion you need to be very hungry. Have fun.

Solid, quite hearty cuisine. The fact that there are portions in S, M and L is welcome, but they are still far too big. There is room for improvement in the service and ambience.

Today (05/14/22, reposted because this review was repeatedly blocked) I was traveling alone on my motorcycle, and as I drove through the restaurant looked quite inviting for lunch. So I quickly turned around, parked the motorcycle and looked for a place in the shade (it was over 30°C). Well, that was it. I was stubbornly ignored by at least 2 young ladies in service, even when the neighboring tables on the right and left were being served. Since I didn't want to shout loudly or be aggressive in any way, I took the conclusion after about 10 minutes and drove on without having accomplished anything. It's a shame, just write a sign saying you don't serve motorcyclists or men sitting alone. Looks good from the outside, but not recommended.

Price performance very good had 3 schnitzels with fries and salad for just under 16 euros. A restaurant for those very hungry. I will eat here more often. We recommend.

Great ambience, very good food, prices okay, nice mixed selection on the menu. Only the service could be a little more attentive and accessible.

Quite inexpensive and plentiful food. Estonian specialties that are hardly known here. Interesting for veggies because there is something other than cheese spaetzle (beetroot carpaccio with rocket and sheep's cheese).

Tolles Ambiente im historischen Gemäuer. Der Service war freundlich, das Essen lecker. Zum Empfehlen sind auf jeden Fall die Schnitzel in verschiedensten Variationen.

Vorab: die Dame in Service war aufgrund der "Vorfälle" sehr kulant-wir bekamen einen Rabatt auf die Rechnung. Das Essen war gut. Auf das Essen wartete wir über 1 3/4 Stunden. Der Service verirrte sich nur selten an unseren Tisch, sodass wir selbst leere Gläser abräumen mussten um neue Getränke zu bekommen. Coole Bürger-Variationen aber der Service muss besser werden.

Wir waren mit der Familie dort und waren guter Dinge als wir das Lokal betraten. Gutes Ambiente und die Bedienung freundlich und bemüht. Bis das Essen kam, war das ein schöner Abend.......Das Essen war leider überhaupt nix.....kein Geschmack und unzureichend zubereitet. Meiner Meinung nach wird hier versucht eine exquisite Küche anzupreisen (kleine Karte, grosse Preise), die der Koch aber nicht erfüllen kann.... Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt hier keinesfalls!!! Nie wieder!!!. Update: mittlerweile hat der Besitzer gewechselt (war auch nicht anders zu erwarten) ...Die Krone ist jetzt ein griechisches Restaurant und absolut wieder zu empfehlen....wir waren bereits mehrmals dort und immer sehr zufrieden👍👍👍 Update: das griechische Restaurant hat in einer "Nacht und Nebelaktion" die Tore geschlossen 🤔....

Sehr schöne Location. Allerdings fehlte mir bei jedem Essen ein kleiner Beilagensalat. 5 Euro dafür extra zu berechnen pro Gericht ist kein gastfreundlicher Service mehr. Leider war der Lachs auf dem Teller zu suchen und ansonsten die Steaks ok. Würde aber jederzeit lieber woanders hingehe.

Gute Schnitzel und gute Pommes sind leider keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Umso erfreulicher dass beides konstant sehr gut ist. Da leider viele der Gerichte mit Sauce Knoblauch enthalten wurde etwas leckeres speziell zubereitet (Pasta mit frischen Pfifferlingen; siehe Bild).

Das Steak war 100% aber den Beilagensalat für 5 Euro und Cola nur noch in 0,3l Gläsern ist für mich nicht mehr akzeptabel.🤔☹️

Tolles Ambiente, mittelmäßiges überteuertes Essen. Das Essen war schön angerichtet und die Qualität der Zutaten war auch gut. Leider wurde in der Küche daraus kein Gaumenschmaus. Schade!
