Wir die SimplyVision sind völlig begeistert von der "Alten Post". Das Essen ist durchweg lecker, frisch und von guter Qualität. Besonders positiv ist, dass alle Bestellungen immer vollständig und korrekt sind. Preis-Leistung stimmt hier definitiv. Insgesamt ein super Service und eine klare Empfehlung von uns!

Wir waren zu viert dort und können dieses Lokal mit bestem Gewissen nur weiterempfehlen. Essen war hervorragend zu einem absolut fairen Preis!!!

Wir waren zum Mittagstisch in der Alten Post, und haben im Aussenbereich die Sonne und die leckere und reichliche Pasta genossen. An den Nebentischen wurden die Pizzen außerordentlich gelobt. Die Preisgestaltung für den Mittagstisch ist sehr erfinderisch aka Card Essen abzgl. 2,50€ und zusätzlich ein kleiner Beilagen Salat👍. Wir kommen gerne wieder um die Pizzen zu testen.

Sehr große, italienische Speisekarte. Auch deutsche Gerichte werden angeboten. Wir haben sehr gut gegessen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Trotz vollem Lokal ging alles relativ zügig. Wir werden bestimmt wiederkommen.

Besucht haben wir das Restaurant an einem Samstagabend. Wir hatten einen Tisch reserviert und es war sehr viel los. Die Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich und sie haben die Bestellung zügig aufgenommen. Auch die Getränke und der Vorspeisensalat kamen schnell. Auf unseren Hauptgang haben wir aber leider fast 60 Minuten warten müssen… Es wurde uns zwar gesagt, dass sie versuchen die Gerichte der Kinder früher zu bringen, aber bei dem Versuch ist es leider nur geblieben. Das Essen war ganz ok. Alles in allem absoluter Durchschnitt.

Wir wurden glücklicherweise durch den Schlemmerblock auf dieses tolle Restaurant aufmerksam und sowohl Essen als auch Service und Ambiente haben jeweils Höchstpunktzahl verdient. Absolute Empfehlung!

Gemeinsam mit einem Kollegen speiste ich kürzlich in diesem vortrefflichen Hause und wurde auf höchst eindrucksvolle Weise überzeugt. Bereits das Interieur zeugt von erlesenem Geschmack und einer beinahe kaiserlichen Eleganz, die dem Abend einen würdevollen Rahmen verlieh. Die Speisen waren von außerordentlicher Qualität – geschmacklich erhaben, mit höchster Sorgfalt komponiert und von bemerkenswerter Raffinesse. Auch der Service zeichnete sich durch kultivierte Freundlichkeit und diskrete Aufmerksamkeit aus.

Pizza war okay lokal etwas renovierungsbedürftig aber faire Preise und solides essen, leider war der Gastraum etwas zu kalt und wenn man länger sitzt sehr unangenehm

Ich gehe wirklich regelmäßig hier Essen. Kann es guten Gewissens und mit großer Empfehlung weitergeben. Wir finden das Ambiente, sowie auch das Essen sehr gut. Der Service ist toll und wird fühlen uns jedesmal wohl. Ich war an meinem Geburtstag wieder mal hier Essen und sobald das Personal und der Chef dass erfahren hat, hat man mir Persönlich Gratuliert und sich mehrmals überzeugt ob alles in Ordnung sei und ich mich wohl fühle. Bin wirklich sehr begeistert:)

We were vacationing in Mengen and stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Only fresh ingredients were used, and the portions were generous. The service was very attentive and friendly, and the owner asked about any suggestions for improvement. All in all, it was an unexpectedly good experience. 10/10, would gladly return.

We think it's especially nice that, even under new management, the old post office is still as cozy as ever, and that Mengen has remained a place where people can come together. The food has even become more diverse, and everyone is happy here!

A cute little Italian restaurant with a wide selection of food and drinks. The food is always freshly prepared and delicious. I love that they offer a plate with pasta, lasagna, and tortellini. The atmosphere is very friendly, and you can tell they care about your good time. I'd be happy to go back anytime.

Absolutely fantastic value for money, everything is fresh and there's a great selection. We'd happily go back anytime. Great service. The pizza sticks are absolutely fantastic, definitely worth trying. I was there today with my wife. I'm not a big eater. I had a Milanese schnitzel shared for two people. Where else can I get that? We've been there several times, and it's always been absolutely delicious. It's now our regular restaurant. We've also been there often during the week and the quality is always top-notch. Highly recommended.

Absolutely, a beautiful ambiance in a small space. The rustic, old half-timbered house in which the restaurant is located is unique and adds to the charm of enjoying good Italian cuisine in a wood-clad atmosphere. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed in this location, which seats perhaps 70 to 80 people. The food selection is generous for such a small restaurant, and there's something for everyone who enjoys Italian food.

Our visit at the end of July 2025. First of all, it tasted great. An AI described the visual impression for me: Purely visually, I'd say "so-so" pretty much sums it up. Here's a somewhat more nuanced assessment in the spirit of "eating with the eye": Positive: Color variety: The combination of the light-colored fish, golden-brown rösti, and colorful vegetables (broccoli, carrots) generally creates a certain color gradation – that's a good start. Decent portioning: The components are clearly separated from each other, not mixed or mushy. Critical: Decoration/arrangement: There's a complete lack of visual sophistication. No fresh herb sprig, no lemon, no splashes of lemon juice, or sauce accents. It looks more functional than appetizing. Plate selection: The plate is very simple – that can be okay, but combined with the rather flat presentation, it seems a bit lackluster. Structure: Everything lies fairly flat next to each other – no difference in height, no visual dynamics. Conclusion: It looks more like a cafeteria or everyday meal than a deliberately prepared dish. It's not unappetizing, but it's not Instagrammable either. If you want to impress guests or enjoy eating with your eyes, you could get more out of it with little effort (herbs, lemon zest, better arrangement).

The "Alte Post" is a pleasant surprise. The falafel bowl salad was served with a pleasant, not-too-sour dressing, falafel patties, and oven-fresh pizza bread. Everything was very good. The salad was particularly delicious, made from a variety of ingredients, including raw vegetables, and everything was crisp and fresh. It's rare to find such quality. The falafel patties were baked very crisply, but also tasty. The pizza we chose, which is also available in a small version, was also very good. Overall, you can tell that they use good, fresh ingredients. A pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, with attentive and friendly service. We enjoyed our meal and felt at home. See you next time.

We recently ate at the Alte Post with my girlfriend and my young son – and it was simply a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The service was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and simply warm – you rarely get that kind of encounter. It was almost as if you were staying with dear friends. It was really comforting and made the evening even more special. Even with children, you are more than welcome there. My little one was kindly included without anyone feeling like he was a nuisance – quite the opposite. You don't often experience such child-friendliness in restaurants. The food was truly delicious! We were particularly impressed by the pretzel pizza – we hadn't tried it before. And the fact that you can even have the crust filled with cheese was the icing on the cake. The menu was varied and immediately made us want to try more. Whether cozy inside or outside in good weather – the ambiance was harmonious and lovingly designed. All in all, it was an evening where everything just worked out for us. A place where you feel welcome and want to return. We wholeheartedly recommend the Alte Post and thank you for a truly wonderful evening!

Admittedly, we had entered a different restaurant into Google Maps, but we ended up at this one by chance! The price appealed to us, but we also had the experience of getting great service for a reasonable price, and the food was simply "delicious." I even had medallions (which, mind you, come in large quantities from the butcher) packed up because the rösti was already so much, and I can look forward to even more delicious food tomorrow! We went for a walk in Mengen yesterday. We spontaneously stopped for pizza. In the middle of Mengen, there's a cozy pizzeria, "Alte Post." The interior is very inviting, simple, clean, and pleasantly decorated. There's also some outdoor seating, which was great given yesterday's weather. The service, I think it was the owners, was very courteous, friendly, helpful, and above all, child-friendly, which is important to us; we have three children (4, 6, and 7). The children also felt very comfortable and thought the food was delicious. The service was very fast, polite, and good. The children got fries and the pizza very quickly, and they really enjoyed it. My wife and I ordered a pizza together, which arrived very quickly and was very, very tasty. The salad was fresh and delicious. Drinks were always served at the table immediately after ordering. The service was truly perfect. All in all, top👍. Food 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Service 10/10 Friendliness. 12/10 All in all, it was a great afternoon, highly recommended, and I'd be happy to go again.

Came across this restaurant by chance on the way home. I really wanted to eat pizza. THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!!! World-class pizza, quality at its best and a taste you'll fall in love with! The mixed appetizer platter is second to none. With great freshly baked pizza sticks, so awesome! You wouldn't expect falafel there, but they were good to die for. My pizza came with an additional cheese crust, which I had to try because I had never had that before. However, we were very optimistic about our hunger with the appetizer platter and pizzas. That wasn't manageable but of course we each took about half of our pizza home with us. A delicious treat even cold. Super-friendly welcome from the host, nice conversation about pizza dough production and top-notch service. Many other restaurants can learn a lesson from this and you will look forward to your next visit. We booked a table again for Friday, despite a longer journey. You feel safe and in good hands there. We discovered our new favorite restaurant! Thank you for this warm and exquisite culinary experience. We will come back often. You can see the rest in the pictures and it will make your mouth water!

We only came to this restaurant by chance. At lunchtime, dishes from the menu are offered with a discount of €2.50. There is also a small side salad free of charge. The pizza I got was second to none :-) I can say that this was the best pizza in my entire life. The menu says that the dough is ripe for 48 hours - and you can taste it! Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside like I've never experienced before. I think you can hear my enthusiasm and it certainly won't be the last time I go there to eat. I can definitely highly recommend the pizzas.

The pollock tastes great, and there is chili and garlic oil with it. The service is very nice and the food came quickly – highly recommended! Mega prizes!

Can't find anything that isn't good. My spaghetti with salmon and shrimp was excellent and filled me up well. Everything outside had actually already been cleared away, but they had taken out the seat cushions, blankets and everything just for us. My husband had pizza, the dough was very good, you don't get that often. Also a sharp knife for cutting pizza. All very positive.

Very good service and absolutely friendly! Absolutely caters to the guests! Of course also for the little guests. The food is really outstanding! The pizza tastes like it came straight from Italy. Very good airy dough and the tomato sauce is also homemade. I can only recommend it, I haven't eaten such a good pizza for months.

I ate there two days in a row. On the first day I ate ravioli with porcini mushrooms, they were delicious. The absolute hammer came the next day. I had previously seen on the menu that the dough for the pizza rests for 48 hours. Now I was curious. I ordered a Romana pizza with an extra cheese crust. This one was absolutely fantastic. The dough was absolutely fluffy. Very thin soil. Delicious. I enjoyed it. The service was very nice and attentive every day.

After Toni went into his well-deserved retirement, there is now a new owner. We've just come home from dinner. I had Tris pasta and my wife a large mixed salad Tono. What can I say ........... like with Toni ........ simply great. Delicious and the portion size was great. Staff absolutely friendly. We'll be back, you'd think Toni would still be there. Toni picked the successors exactly right. You feel very comfortable and, above all, really full. Thank you very much !!!!!😋

I was thrilled! Daily recommendation from the house: fresh riccota chanterelle or ricotta spinach ravioli. Ordered both and they were incredibly good. My personal highlight: pizza curls! (fried pizza dough) simply delicious! First or as a side dish to a salad! The dessert topped off the evening. Can only recommend the restaurant!

We sat outside the restaurant. A very friendly waitress immediately brought us the cards and asked about the drinks. The large salad with cheese was extremely tasty. Great mix of different ingredients and a really nice dressing. Also mixed tortellini, spaghetti and lasagna... you can taste the Sicilian chef 😉 we will definitely be back.

Service and food, as usual, were simply top notch. We had a very pleasant chat with the service and the new boss at a late hour in the almost empty restaurant. We would love to come back!

The food is still very good and the price/performance ratio is also good. I have been a guest for 45 years and am satisfied and happy that it continues. Everything can't be the same as before and it doesn't have to be. What is important is that the whole team makes an effort to do it well.

It was the worst meal in years, salad ordered in advance, didn't come. Schnitzel with spaghetti, unseasoned. Not even salt, that's so sad, the only thing that was good was the drink
