Zum Riederstein in München

The food tastes good. In the beer goulash we found 3 small pieces of meat (goulash) with a lot of sauce alongside the spaetzle. The crusty roast was also very manageable. We were all still hungry afterwards! We wanted to order drinks a second time while we were eating. The waiter just said: “colleague does it” and that was it. Since we weren't all full yet, we ordered apple strudel. Which didn't satisfy saturation either. But what doesn't work at all: The waiter brought dessert and held out the cutlery to us. If you wanted to take the dessert cutlery, the waiter would pull them away. And they thought it was funny to portray new guests as idiots. If I want fun, I go to the circus and not to a restaurant. We're not coming anymore!

Great place with amazing food the calamari is unbelievable

I was in the restaurant at the end of September and unfortunately that evening ended early for me at the hotel. I have celiac disease (so I HAVE to eat gluten-free) and eat a vegetarian diet. When ordering, I asked the waitress if there was anything gluten-free and vegetarian on the menu. First of all, he didn't understand what I meant by gluten-free at all. He said I could eat salad without sauce because it had milk in it. I then explained to him that it was about gluten and not lactose. We talked and at some point I said that it was easiest if I had salad and asked if he could make me something else to go with the salad (potatoes or something similar). His answer was “I could make spaetzle for you.” I had to explain to him again that spaetzle also contains gluten. He then said I could eat the vegan beer goulash. I then told him that beer also contains gluten and so I don't think I can eat the beer goulash. He then said that it was vegan and that I could eat it. When I pointed out again that this dish was about the gluten in the beer (and not vegan), he continued to say it was vegan and I could therefore eat it. Apparently he didn't understand what the differences were at all. He then (probably) went into the kitchen and asked if it was gluten-free and came back saying I could eat the vegan beer goulash. I asked twice again where the word "beer" in this dish came from, but I don't think he wanted to understand me and always just said it was gluten-free and I could eat it. After I asked again if he was sure, he got annoyed and just said, “Of course there’s no beer in it.” I was still skeptical, but unfortunately I trusted that it was true and ordered the salad and the vegan beer goulash. The food tasted really delicious at first and after a long day I was really happy to be able to eat something warm. At some point I was full and thank God I didn't eat the entire plate of goulash. A short time later I felt very bad. I suddenly felt sick and was about to throw up in the restaurant. I also suddenly had problems with my stomach and intestines. We then left relatively quickly and since it was a JGA, the trip of course continued. I stayed with the others for about an hour because I still had hope that things might get better. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and I had to cancel my good friend's JGA and take a taxi to the hotel alone. I spent the next few hours on the toilet and in bed and had to take medication for pain and diarrhea. After I went home the next day, I had contact with my mother, who was so angry that she wrote the restaurant an email independently of me about what was in the vegan beer goulash and lo and behold, the restaurant responded was that the soy slices were COOKED in beer!! becomes. So much for the fact that of course there is NO beer in it. After my mother responded to the restaurant and explained my case, there was never a response. I find it impossible that no consideration was taken here, that I was made to look like a fool and, worst of all, that there wasn't even an apology. I can therefore absolutely NOT recommend this restaurant. The staff doesn't know anything about allergens and they even make fun of you when you ask questions. When we left the next day, I found out from three people in our group that they also felt sick after eating. One even had to throw up after eating and another friend's cheese spaetzle was slightly sour. Absolutely not recommended!!!

Unfortunately the food wasn't that tasty. The service so-so. The ambience is ok. Nice and rustic. However, one visit is enough for me.

At most “OK”. The spaetzle didn't seem homemade, the knuckle was laced with tendons and very fatty and the meat was pretty flabby. I probably won't come back, I was deceived by the 4.4 stars. The ambience, on the other hand, is nice, reminiscent of an old inn.

The quality of the food was just sufficient. I don't know of any restaurant in Munich where you can get food that tastes as bad as in Riederstein, and here I'm particularly referring to the Haxn and the Hendl (we were there with several people). We will not be visiting this location again.

The Werksviertel in Munich is really worth it, hotels, businesses and restaurants in old and new buildings, a rather atypical character for Munich. Zum Riedenstein is a poor copy of a Bavarian inn in modern architecture. The menu is Bavarian and the prices are at a high Munich level.

Decent food, I got the Ribs which considering we’re about 4,500 miles from the south they were damn good. But, with a full kilo of ribs, I got not a single wet nap, a nearby table happened to have one, and they graciously shared it with me! Finally, at the end of the meal, the waiter made sure to let us know that the tip was not included. This was after doing the bare minimum to a mostly empty restaurant. I understand this is Oktoberfest season, but still, left a bad taste in my mouth.

I happened to be in the Werksviertel today and fell for some good reviews. The table was sticky, the cutlery wasn't clean, the glasses were dirty. Unfortunately the crusty roast was clearly not fresh, but the coleslaw with dumplings was ok. The restaurant distorts the good reputation of Augustiner.

The 1-star rating applies exclusively to the treatment of guests: We had a dinner with around 30 invited guests in this restaurant on Monday evening as part of a conference. During the several weeks of preparations for the evening, the restaurant was mentioned to the guests several times as an evening location. On Sunday afternoon, one day before the dinner and on a weekday when employees with a Mon-Fri job do not work, we received a last-minute cancellation from the restaurant, saying that the team had been spontaneously invited to the Oktoberfest and our reservation would be canceled. The alternative they gave us, a Thai restaurant, was closed on Monday. Accordingly, this half-heartedly researched alternative suggestion didn't help us at all. The opportunity to invite your team to the Oktoberfest and spend a nice afternoon as a thank you for their commitment and effort is absolutely legitimate and we fully understand it. At the same time, however, canceling reservations of this size at short notice, without taking into account the losses, the additional effort this means for those making the reservation, and not offering an appropriate alternative is - to put it bluntly - unbelievable and, for us, has little to do with guest orientation and service considerations. Just being so honest and stating the reason for the cancellation almost borders on audacious. It's a shame - we were really looking forward to the evening there and could have imagined organizing other business dinners there too. But after this experience we clearly refrain from doing so.

Very relaxing & delicious Little Oktoberfest!

Unfortunately, I can NOT understand the good rating on average. The schnitzel was you and didn't look too great. The potato salad doesn't seem "homemade" either. The crusty roast was okay but only lukewarm, the dumpling was solid. The coleslaw was exceptionally good. The service was also neutral. All in all, not for connoisseurs of Bavarian cuisine!

Perhaps the worst Bavarian restaurant in Munich. No matter the staff shortage, being friendly doesn't cost anything. I don't want to go into details here - but this store is a disgrace. Check out what your service staff did in the evening on September 1st, 2024.

Ordered a Cesar salad, it comes without chicken, just greens for 15 euros! The waitress says we don't have chicken! Then it's not a Cesar salad. rip off

Unfortunately, the service was extremely understaffed and therefore stressed. Our dishes only came after 50 minutes of waiting and then different. Unfortunately the schnitzel tasted like it was twice fried. Two stars because the service responded honestly to the criticism.

Meat and dumplings okay, but everything lukewarm

Unfortunately, quantity and quality do not match at all. Given the prices, you would expect freshly prepared food. Unfortunately, it is obvious to any layperson that neither spaetzle is fresh and homemade, nor is the schnitzel freshly breaded - it is also frozen thick and has not been beaten. To charge 18.50 for this is excessive. Not everything is available either - the request for a simple cappuccino could not be fulfilled, even though it was on the menu.

Food is overpriced and tastes mediocre. After we complained about the poorly poured beer, we were promised a cut which we never received.

Food was okay But staff disaster totally unprofessional 👎

The Leberkas that was served to me was really mangy. Tasted old and stale. A colleague who wanted to order tea was told there was only black tea, although another waitress later said there were other types of tea. All in all: bad food, bad service.

That’s it! There's actually nothing to complain about. But you can't really highlight anything. The spare ribs are juicy and well cooked, and the sauce is tasty. But both somehow stand on their own. You don't end up with a greasy-sweet-spicy melange that makes you lick your fingers. And the fact that there isn't even a pretzel for the price doesn't make it any better. So they don't live up to their own claim of serving the best spare ribs in the city. I can immediately think of two places that do it better. In fact, all the dishes seem rather mechanical and efficient to me. Which doesn't have to be bad, but it doesn't have any emotions. In my opinion, the emphasis is on convenience when it comes to side dishes, which is just a shame given the high prices. A few freshly shaved spaetzle would give the plate more shine. The shop is beautiful and has the charm of a pub, especially considering that everything is still quite new. But you notice it even more on the terrace. There was no attempt here to shed the industrial look of the surrounding area. All in all, you can do it all that well. That’s it!

They wanted to charge me 9 euros extra (on a 15 euro bill).

We made reservations to eat here and could not even find the building! I called them multiple times and they just answered and then hung up on me. Not too bummed anyways because our local friend said the food was not traditional, mediocre, and overpriced.

We got a few things to take with us - including cheese spaetzle. But they were sour - several of us tried that and confirmed it. Have it then. Returned - but unfortunately I didn't get my money back. I was offered a second helping. But I generally don't accept something like that - you never know...

The food tastes delicious, but the portions are really small. Even as a woman, I couldn't get enough of the main dish. Service is ok.

The restaurant is nicely decorated. We sat in the beer garden. The drinks came very quickly. We waited quite a long time for the food even though there wasn't much going on yet. Unfortunately I didn't get what was described on the card. There was sausage salad with Lyonnais. I got it with Regensburger sausage. The portion was large and the price was absolutely right.

Cozy Bavarian restaurant with typical delicacies. The service is very friendly and fast! The roast pork was delicious and the beer was good as usual! Gladly again!

I was visiting from the USA and was staying at the Adina Hotel. The Riederstein is a revelation, even for me as a Munich resident. My mom couldn't have made the roast pork better. My friends definitely visited every day ❣️

Unfortunately it wasn't a good visit there. Service times were long, everyone at the table had their food, mine only came when the rest was ready. Food is worlds better in other Augustiner restaurants. Unfortunately, it tasted like it had been prepared in the morning and quickly thrown through the microwave in the evening.

Unfortunately, when I visited this brewery/tavern, I was served very stale beer and mediocre food at quite high prices. Unfortunately, the service was neither friendly nor quick I edited this review later because I received a message from a lawyer for the operator via Google.

They tried to inflate the price of my bill, but the food was good.

90 minutes!! Waited for food and then got tourist food. The waitresses were nice and tried hard, but the restaurant as a whole is not recommended. I've never waited so long for mediocre food in a restaurant. I was about to go and grab something to eat next door. There is better tourist food that is served quicker.

A brewery at Ostbahnhof in the Werksviertel. The atmosphere is cozy/quaint. For me, food falls into the category of “getting full”, enjoying it is different.

Sadly the one meal I had in Munich was this one - it came out looking exactly like this and did not taste any better than it looked, schnitzel tough and over-cooked. Disappointed and not what I was expecting, especially at €18.50 🙁 the beer was nice, staff were ok but not looking happy

Food ok, service friendly, very loud

Everything will be new in 2024! Lunch is back. Prices stable and continued top service! It was probably too hasty. Can happen. Unfortunately I have to correct my previous rating. There has recently been no more lunch menu, but the prices have increased dramatically in 2023. And then there is a “threat” of further increases if the VAT goes back to 19%. It's a shame, but I'll probably have to go to the Haidhauser in the future, where the roast pork starts at €9.50, not €18.50 Here is my old review: My favorite shop in the Werksviertel. Tip: in summer near Aleppo (or somewhere else) get food and enjoy it with a drink in the Riederstein beer garden! Oh yes: there is also football (Sky/DAZN) and the beer is awesome anyway!

The operator appears to be mentally impaired. If you knew that beforehand, that would be okay. But here you initially think that everyone is mentally fit. The waitress simply wanted to embezzle €30. Samma, are you okay?

Unfortunately, the "legendary" Sparibbs were a bit dry, I would have liked the sauce separately, the baked potato was out (at 7 p.m.?) and instead of the Caesar salad, a side salad came flooded with ready-made dressing. Unfortunately not a culinary highlight.

Das Essen ist echt nicht zu empfehlen und die Preise sind absolut null gerechtfertigt für die Qualität..

Ich muss meine Rezension von vor 2 Jahren leider revidieren. Lage ist nach wie vor super. Einige wenige Servicekräfte immer noch toll. Allerdings wurden in den letzten 8 Monaten die Preise für das Essen um teilweise mehr als 50% erhöht. Ohne das Qualität etc. einen Grund dafür gegeben haben. Ich verstehe jeden Gastronom, dass es hier und dort Preisanpassungen geben sollte, ok. Aber das? Keine Mittagskarte mehr seit dieser Woche. Preise gleichzeitig nochmals erhöht. Warum? In nicht mal 5 Minuten Entfernung gibt es den Haidhausener Augustiner - mit toller Mittagskarte unter 10 Euro. Als Stammgast kann ich sagen: "liebes Riederstein Team - ihr seid auf dem Holzweg! Nur Eure Servicekräfte machen noch den Unterschied. Alles andere: NOPE!"

Im "Zum Riederstein" im Werksviertel scheint die Zeit stillzustehen - besonders, wenn man auf Essen und Getränke wartet. Die scheinbar frischen Gerichte entpuppen sich als Meisterwerke der Mikrowellenkunst, während die Getränke mit einem überraschenden Kronkorken-Bonus serviert werden. Ein Erlebnis, das Sie lehrt, Geduld als neue Tugend zu betrachten und zu schätzen, wie viel Rost ein Gericht tatsächlich aufwerten kann. Die Weihnachtsdekoration Anfang November hat die Atmosphäre aber deutlich aufgewertet. Ein Ort, der Ihnen das Gefühl gibt, in einer kulinarischen Zeitschleife gefangen zu sein.

Eine nette Lokation, sehr gut besucht, eine vorherige Reservierung ist dringend empfohlen. Das Essen war sehr gut, Portionen waren gut. Preis Leistung stimmt auch. Trotz vollem Lokal, war das Servicepersonal sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und schnell.

Wer es gerne mit lauter touristischer bayernambiente Musik mag als Vorbereitung/Grundlage für einen Partyabend ist hier gut aufgehoben, die Portionen sind reichlich. Spare Ribs -- das Signaturessen und "die besten Münchens" -- waren höchstens mittelmässig, die anderen Gerichten waren definitiv nur OK. Die Knödel haben stark nach Kümmel geschmeckt war nicht allen bei uns gefallen hat. Die Bedienung war prompt und gut. Wir werden nicht wiederkommen.

Schorsch beste Kellner auf der Welt

Die Sparerips können bei weitem nicht halten, was die Werbung verspricht. Nicht wirklich weich und sehr trocken. Dazu recht geschmacklos. Die Bedienungen sind nicht Aufmerksam. Und wenn dann doch mal drei Bedienungen nachfragen dauert es trotzdem 10 Minuten, bis man sein Bier bekommt

Amazing staff!!! Amazing food!!! My daughter loves Caesar salad and we could only find it here. She loved the house made dressing. This is a must to experience in Munich!

The best place to visit! The service and staff are incredible, the authentic Bavarian food is the best we had in Munich. We came every day because of the delicious food and beer, but especially because of the amazing people who work here. Highly recommend 10/10. I wish we had this restaurant in Canada 🇨🇦 🇩🇪

Der neues Betriebsleiter ist ein Träumchen. Er hat mir den Alkohol nicht nur sehr schnell gebracht, sondern direkt umdisponiert und mir diesen draußen serviert. Mein absolutes Highlight aber war, dass er mich todesmutig vor ein sehr großen Maus gerettet hat. Ich hätte ohne ihn nicht mehr den Weg zurück ins Restaurant geschafft. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Abend. Monsieur , ich komme wieder 😊

Wir waren als Team unter der Woche hier und schwer begeistert. Nette, bodenständige und sehr aufmerksame Kellner sowie tolles Essen im schönen Ambiente des Werksviertels. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Essen war ok, Bedienung war genervt und nicht gerade freundlich. 3 Kellner waren da und alle schlecht drauf. Habe mich nicht wohl gefühlt.

Kwamen nog net na keukensluittijd binnen en deze vriendelijke bediening heeft het even mogelijk gemaakt dat wij met een groep van 11 man nog even een zalige schnitzel konden eten.
