Hallo, wir waren nun schon öfter im Holzwurm essen, da wir von der Qualität des Essens sehr überzeugt waren. Ein Gedicht das Wiener Schnitzel sowie der Zwiebelrostbraten. Heute war dem jedoch nicht so. Der Zwiebelrostbraten war zäh sowie das Stück Fleisch wirklich klein, die Hälfte der Portion wie sonst. Dies wurde dem Kellner auch so geschildert und was nun am meisten ärgert, dass es nach Rücksprache mit der Küche nur für ein "nochmal sorry" gereicht hat. Tut mir leid, aber so befriedigt man keine regelmäßigen Kunden. Wir waren heute das letzte Mal dort. Liebe Grüße

Herausragendes Essen. Wie im Österreich-Urlaub! Die Küche besticht durch klassische Schlichtheit ebenso wie durch kreative moderne Küche. Neben Speisekarte und zusätzlicher Biergartenspeisekarte gibt es noch verschiedene Tagesempfehlungen. Preis-Leistung passt.

Wir wollten mit unserer Familie im Holzwurm essen gehen. Obwohl die Terrasse nahezu leer war, teilte uns der Besitzer ohne Begrüßung mit, dass alles reserviert sei. Die Art und Weise, wie wir behandelt wurden, war sehr unhöflich und abweisend. Bei uns entstand leider der Eindruck, dass wir aufgrund unserer Herkunft nicht willkommen waren. Ob das tatsächlich der Grund war, können wir natürlich nicht mit Sicherheit sagen – dennoch hat sich die Situation für uns so angefühlt. Besonders traurig war, dass unsere 12 Jährige Tochter dabei zum ersten Mal das Gefühl hatte, wegen ihrer Herkunft ausgegrenzt zu werden. Unabhängig davon erwarten wir von einem Gastronomiebetrieb einen respektvollen und freundlichen Umgang mit allen Gästen. Diese Erfahrung war für uns sehr enttäuschend, weshalb wir nicht wiederkommen werden.

Sehr schönes gemütliches Restaurant mit einem ländlichen Flair. Hübsche Deko auf den Tischen und am Fenster. Leckere saisonale Speisen im feinster Art und Weise. Österreichische und schweizerische Gerichte mit vielen selbstgemachten Beilagen, wir Semmel- oder Leberknödel. Der Nachtisch wie Palatschinken einfach köstlich

Geschmacklich eine Bank, wir wurden noch nie enttäuscht… immer nur das Gegenteil. Leckere (deftige) Gerichte gleichzeitig wunderschön hergerichtet. ❤️ Tipp: den Teller nur halb essen um einpacken lassen, damit man auch in den Genuss der wechselnden Nachspeisen kommt 🤞 Das Schlimme dabei, man halt seine Lieblingsgerichte und bestellt immer wieder dasselbe, obwohl es noch so viel zu entdecken gibt… “Zum Holzwurm” ist lange kein Geheimtipp mehr, entsprechend bitte immer vorher abklären ob noch was frei ist. 😉

Das Essen ist wirklich super. Habe Gulasch gehabt, perfekt. Sehr nette Bedienung. Jeder Zeit zu empfehlen.

Wir waren in einer Gruppe von 6 Personen im Restaurant. Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zügig, hat gut nachgefragt, ob wir noch etwas benötigen. Alle Personen hatten ein anderes Gericht gewählt, alle waren sehr mit dem Essen zufrieden. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Die Spargelsuppe war ein absoluter Genuss. Wirklich sehr gut. Das Wiener Schnitzel war auch sehr lecker. Das Zimmer ist zwar nicht besonders groß, aber wir kommen wieder, sobald der Garten wieder geöffnet ist.

Fangen wir mit dem Positiven an, das Essen war gut. Aber alles kostet extra. Bratkartoffeln statt Kartoffeln plus 3,50 Euro. Preiselbeeren hatten gefehlt und wurden dann extra berechnet etc. Und das bei einer Gesamtrechnung von 150 Euro. Sitzen tut man recht eng, wer dem was abgewinnen kann ok.

Hier haben wir sehr lecker gegessen.

An diesem Restaurant wären wir sicher vorbeigefahren, aufgrund der guten Bewertungen haben wir es aber ausprobiert und waren total überrascht: Die Speisen auf einem geschmacklich und in der Präsentation so hohen Niveau, das wir hier nie erwartet hätten, der Service super. Die Portionen fanden wir groß, auf ein Dessert mussten wir leider verzichten.

Sehr leckeres Essen, gute Portionen. Nette zuvorkommende Servicekräfte. Wir kommen im Sommer sehr gerne hier her und sitzen draußen. Man muss aber immer reservieren. Lange im Voraus ausgebucht - das spricht für die tolle Qualität.

Wir haben hier ausgesprochen lecker gegessen und getrunken, wurden äußerst herzlich bedient und haben die familiäre Atmosphäre sehr genossen. Von außen unscheinbar aber wenn es um die Verköstigung geht, alles andere als unscheinbar *****

Ich war heute geschäftlich mit einem Gast in diesem Restaurant. Da ich Muslim bin und zurzeit faste, habe ich selbst nichts bestellt und meinen Gast nur begleitet, während er etwas essen wollte. Als ich der Mitarbeiterin erklärt habe, dass ich faste, wurde mir gesagt, dass ich das Restaurant verlassen müsse, obwohl ich nur meinen Gast begleiten wollte. Die Situation war für mich sehr unangenehm und enttäuschend. Mein Gast hat daraufhin auch entschieden, nichts mehr zu bestellen, und wir haben das Restaurant gemeinsam verlassen. So eine Erfahrung habe ich in einem Restaurant noch nicht gemacht und ich hätte mir mehr Verständnis und Respekt gewünscht.

Wer schlecht essen möchte und unherzliche Gastronomen kennenlernen will, muss leider woanders hingehen 😅 Bei Familie Ramsauer im Holzwurm stimmt einfach alles: Geniales Essen, faire Preise und vor allem unglaublich herzliche Menschen. Ein großartiges österreichisch-deutsches Restaurant, das authentisches Wiener Schnitzel und auch Lachsforelle auf einem Salzblock serviert. Die Knoblauchsuppe sah ebenfalls fantastisch aus und roch herrlich.

A spontaneous lunch. Reservations are recommended, though; we were lucky to get a table since there were only two of us. The restaurant is very cozy. The service was attentive and charming. We felt very comfortable. The menu is concise yet packed with so many delicious and unusual dishes that choosing is still difficult. Because of the current "dumpling week," I opted for the cheese dumpling soup, the dumpling trio (pork crackling, smoked pork, and bacon dumplings), and a Mozart ice cream dumpling. The quality of the food was absolutely outstanding. Perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. We'll gladly come back, even though we don't live nearby.

We went there for dinner with our family—six of us and two dogs. The seating in the garden is very cozy. We all enjoyed the food, and the service was friendly. I definitely recommend it!

We ate there for the first time yesterday. We were really pleasantly surprised! The selection of dishes was really great, the service was attentive, and the food was truly delicious! There is one small problem, however: the portions were much too small. We only had one main course and unfortunately weren't really full. Of course, you could order dessert or an appetizer beforehand, but then the price goes up considerably. We simply felt that the side dishes were lacking. The schnitzel came with exactly two halved potatoes and a tablespoon of cranberries. If you had made 4-5 potatoes out of 2, you would have certainly been full! Tip: Don't skimp on the side dishes, because the dishes are super delicious!!! We'll be back!

If you can't just cross the border into Austria, the small restaurant "Zum Holzwurm" in Bensheim-Auerbach offers a culinary Alpine escape in the heart of southern Hesse. Whether inside in the rustic, wood-paneled dining room or outside in the cozy beer garden under shady trees, you'll feel like you're in an alpine hut. Even the cheese dumpling soup makes you think you're sitting somewhere in Salzburger Land with a view of the mountains. The other dishes effortlessly maintain the high standard: traditional, authentic, prepared with love, and an absolute delight both visually and taste-wise. The menu alone is an experience: rustically designed, with a wooden back panel and hinges. You literally leaf through a piece of Austria. Particularly noteworthy are the soups and hearty main courses, which convey a true "Alpine feeling" with every visit. The service is warm, attentive, sometimes a little direct, but always charming. Great importance is placed on the guests' wishes, even when the house is full. Important note: The restaurant is really small. In winter, barely more than 20 people can fit inside. Reservations are essential, ideally several weeks in advance. Those who arrive spontaneously will need luck. But that also explains why it's always fully booked: it's simply worth it. In summer, the beer garden offers a more relaxed alternative, with more space, a pleasant atmosphere, and only light street noise, which is well-shielded by the plants. Tip: The restaurant is rather inconspicuous – if you don't know it, you'll quickly drive past. But once you find it, you're guaranteed to return. A real insider tip for connoisseurs! In conclusion: A visit to "Zum Holzwurm" is always a little piece of vacation – with authentic Austrian flair, honest food, and plenty of soul. Whether for soup lovers, fans of Alpine cuisine, or simply for a cozy evening with friends: definitely go, but make sure you make a reservation!

Coincidence brought us here! It was possible to spontaneously reserve a table as there was just a cancellation shortly before, and there was a free parking space right in front of the restaurant. We have just finished the Kaspressknödel soup, still awaiting the main course and I must already give this a 5 stars! I’m absolutely sure it won’t disappoint. Friendly service. We (2) were there for the first time yesterday. Well, that's not entirely true; I know Holzwurm from the 80s, where we had... The food and everything around it was very good. I have one suggestion: Austrian draft beer and/or special beers from the Schloss Eggenberg brewery. Otherwise: keep it up

Kulinarisch ein Top- Erlebnis. Eine wirklich hochwertige österreichische Küche, die Köchin hat einen ganz feinen Gaumen. Ich hatte eine Knödel-Trilogie auf Sauerkraut mit Bratensauce. Einfach köstlich und preislich deutlich unter 20€. Zum Nachtisch ein Palatschinken mit Marillenmarmelade- ein Gedicht. Schöner kleiner gemütlicher Gastraum mit perfekt freundlicher Bedienung. The food is super tasty and the service is also very friendly. However, I find it strange that you can't get anything from the kitchen after 1:45 p.m. even though it's open until 2:30 p.m. The dining room is very narrow, which also produces a high volume. If you don't like that, you might be out of place here.

Excellent Austrian cuisine. Service is sometimes a bit slow with the drinks - I don't mean the boss of the house. Unfortunately the tables are not to my taste. Real wooden tables belong in there. Otherwise cozy and quaint. Urgently reserve in advance!

The schnitzel and the boiled beef were good, they cook it themselves here. The service is not particularly friendly, but not completely unfriendly either. The interior is rustically furnished, the outside area is less appealing, and the view of the street in particular is unattractive. What bothered me was that you can only pay in cash here. I find that suspicious, the tax office should check it...

Das Essen im Restaurant Holzwurm ist ein absolutes Highlight! Die traditionelle Küche, gespickt mit österreichischen Einflüssen, begeistert durch Geschmack und Qualität. A small but fine restaurant where it smells deliciously of delicious food when a dish just leaves the kitchen and is carried into the beer garden, for example... our mouths were watering... So we enjoyed our salmon trout... You know that: the food smells so good! Plus a Grüner Veltiner: perfect…. Of course the menu contains many other delicacies... and wines… and……. definitely make a reservation... We wish future guests as much enjoyment as we had... A big compliment to the entire “Holzwurms” team in Auerbach

Wer es aus zeitlichen oder Entfernungs-Gründen nicht eben mal schnell über die Grenze nach Österreich schafft, der ist im Garten oder in der urigen Gaststube bestens aufgehoben. Genießt man die Kaspressknödelsuppe, meint man, man würde auf einer Alm sitzen und die kulinarische Welt Österreichs erleben. So geht es mit sämtlichen Hauptgängen weiter, wenn man es geschafft hat sich eines der vielen aus der rustikalen, mit Holz und Scharnieren versehen Speisekarte auszusuchen. Der Service ist dem Flair entsprechend etwas rauer aber immer unbeschreiblich nett und achtet hervorragend auf die Bedürfnisse der Almbesucher. Ein Besuch des Holzwurms ist immer ein bisschen Urlaub in Österreich - zumindest für die zwei, drei Stunden am Abend. Ich empfehle unbedingt eine Reservierung, insbesondere in den kälteren Monaten, da die Plätze in der Gaststätte doch sehr beschränkt sind.

Here in the owner-run restaurant there is excellent German/Austrian cuisine. Every dish in itself is a dream. The kitchen is made with great attention to detail. The key word here is magic. The eye is always spoiled by the chef here. In addition to the regular and great menu, there are always seasonal recommendations of the week, which are always a delight. Everything I have ordered here so far deserves these 5 stars. Anyone who knows me knows that I've already tried a lot of things here, if I put it that way. Simply fantastic 🥰 The desserts are at least as good as the main courses - from fresh sorbet to pancakes. There is something for everybody. Always ask what types of sorbet are available today. It is worth it! There was even asparagus sorbet in the asparagus season - unbelievably brilliant. Blackberries will soon be added as soon as they have ripened perfectly in your own garden 🤩. My favorite is the nut pancake. Every time I get the same taste experience as when I was a child. My mother didn't call it that back then - but it was sooo similar and soooo good 🥰 Anyone who spends some time here and experiences the owner family will quickly notice how much love is invested. Exactly my thing, dear ones! Important: Reserve a table online or call in advance. The dining room is quite manageable if you want to sit in it. Today we were turned away for the 3rd time in a row, even though 92 percent of the places were free. The rejection was bold, arrogant and I don't have any more words. My recommendation is to avoid this pub if you don't want to be rejected.

Simply super top class and all around. The finest food. If you like Austrian cuisine you have to go there. But the kicker was the price. Starter plus main course and drink for just €26. I recommend calling and making a reservation in advance.

Ambience is really very appealing. The service is polite and attentive. We were all disappointed with the food 😞. It was very tasteless. It lacked any spice. The tangerine sorbet was so bitter and inedible. It tasted like you were just eating the peel of it. In terms of taste, everything only got 1 star, but since it was beautifully prepared, I gave it 3 stars. Was very disappointed.

Well, we've never experienced anything like this before, not even in Albania or Moldova. Performance 0, friendliness minus 0, audacity of horror! Avoid this restaurant as much as possible and set a diversion! My sister reserved a table there, Sunday March 10th, 6pm. She wanted to celebrate her birthday and her successful final exam. It turned out that we didn't like the table offered (very narrow location and right at the entrance), which goes without saying. If you don't want to sit somewhere because the location doesn't suit you, then it's your right to say no. Not in this case! It gets even better, when we decided against it and left the restaurant, someone came after us (either the owner, manager, head waiter or something else) and in the worst way, not worthy of the place, insulted and threatened my sister in the worst possible way, with the following words: You will never be able to come in here again, you will never get a table here again!!!! Go away!!! How please??? Instead of saying: we are sorry that we could not meet your requirements, we hope to be able to welcome you again and then, if possible, we will be able to offer you a table that meets your requirements. Have a nice evening. He made it extremely, unfriendly is a nice word for it. What a fool. Dirty shop. Ughiiiiii Don't go there

Es ist mit Abstand das beste Essen, welches ich in den letzten Jahren auswärts gegessen habe. Alles selbst zubereitet. Darüber hinsus ist das Ambiente gemütlich. Die Gaststube hat Platz für 23 Personen und der Biergarten für ca. 100 Personen. Man muss zeitig reservieren (für drinnen aktuell ca. 4 Wochen im Voraus) und auch im Biergarten muss man Glück haben, ohne Reservierung einen Platz zu bekommen. Aber bei diesem Preis/Leistungsverhältnis kein Wunder. Die Mitarbeiter dort sind sehr freundlich und auch bei viel Trubel immer aufmerksam. Für Freunde der österreichischen Küche ein echter Geheimtipp.
