The two of us had dinner at the Fehmel, and it was absolutely excellent. Super delicious food, a lovely atmosphere, and very attentive service. Since we're from Karlstadt and the surrounding area, we didn't need a room, so we can't write a review for it.

If you've ever wanted to live in a medieval house, this is the perfect place. Everything has been beautifully renovated without destroying the original structure. Even the windows are original; a second window was simply installed on the inside for insulation.

We happened upon Karlstadt on our trip and were looking for a restaurant serving Franconian dishes. We received a warm welcome. The food arrived promptly and was very tasty. We rounded off the beautiful day with a delicious glass of wine and beer.

We were there for lunch today, found a seat, waited 20 minutes, and when we asked to order, we were rather rudely told that we couldn't get anything to eat because the kitchen was overloaded. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food. Truly mediocre service.

We booked this hotel for one night six months ago. On the day of our arrival, the reservation was canceled due to overcrowding and rebooked to another hotel. The additional costs were not reimbursed, and emails were simply not answered.

The meal in the quaint restaurant was quick and absolutely excellent. A unique experience so far was that hotel owner Udo led us on part of a tour as our guide. I highly recommend this hotel; it has charm, and everything just fits together.

We ate there with our dog on July 17, 2025, and were not disappointed by the food, the service, or the friendliness of the staff. Three different schnitzels. Price for two plus one 0.4 oz Coke and one 0.5 oz wheat beer: €46. We left this lovely, rustic restaurant full and satisfied.

We stayed there overnight on our bike tour. Very friendly staff, the likes of which you rarely find today. The food was very good with a lot of choice at fair prices. After breakfast we were given a short tour with interesting explanations about the 400-year-old building. We were particularly impressed by the deep well in the middle of the dining room. Despite the age of this building, the rooms are modern and very clean. A clear recommendation for this inn from us.

Terrific! We visited the restaurant on Sunday at 12 p.m., were warmly greeted at the door and shown to our table. The drinks order was at the table in no time, as was the food. The food! All 5 dishes at the table were superbly prepared and delicious, the rump steak was perfectly medium and tender as butter! The children were treated to a little magic trick with gummy bears and cookies. The interior is rustic, everything is made of wood and lovingly decorated with knick-knacks. Now I know why we had to reserve the table two weeks in advance. We will 100% come back!

We went to Fehmelbauer for dinner and had previously used the online reservation at short notice. That worked well, the table was immediately available upon arrival after a very warm welcome. The service was very quick and friendly. The food also came to the table in no time. The portion was very large and rather cheap. The food tasted good, but we added a little bit of seasoning. The rooms and the audience are typically Franconian and homely. If you like it a little quieter and with a lot of distance from the neighboring table, you may not feel 100% comfortable here. The menu had many meat dishes and also interesting vegetarian options (e.g. broccoli nut wedges). There was also an appealing seasonal menu with wild garlic dishes. We are happy to recommend the restaurant.

I'm Franconian and I've eaten a lot of Schäufele in my later years. The one from Fehmelbauer definitely belongs in the top 5. The crust is nicely popped, the meat is buttery tender and juicy, the sauce is good and plentiful. That's how it should be. The dumplings were very good, even if I personally missed the “crumbs” in them. From the daily menu, my mother had the goose breast with duchess potatoes. Fried pink as advertised and not dry at all. The skin could perhaps have used a little more crunch. Maybe again just before serving under the salamander? Complaining on a high level, which can only bring me to the highest rating, not least because of the extremely friendly, eloquent and very quick service of the staff.

The staff at Fehmelbauer were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. Their hospitality is second to none, always ready to assist with a smile. The local food was a highlight, with traditional dishes like Knoedel and Spaetzle that were simply delightful. It's clear that great care and pride go into the preparation of each meal. We visited on what may well have been one of the hottest days of the year, and it was indeed very warm inside our rooms. However, on any other day, the room would certainly have been comfortable. This minor inconvenience did not detract from the overall experience. The view from our room in the morning was quintessentially German, a serene and picturesque scene that perfectly captured the essence of the Franconia region. Lastly, the breakfast room was phenomenal. Starting the day with a delicious breakfast in such a charming setting was the perfect way to begin our adventures.
