We had reserved a table for 10 people for a friend's birthday at 11 pm. When we arrived, the table was still occupied at around 11:10 pm. While we waited, one of our group stood briefly in front of a book, unaware that it was the reservation book (which, mind you, was lying openly – so much for "data protection"). The (intoxicated) owner then reacted completely disproportionately. He immediately yelled at him, became aggressive, and even shoved him. We were all subsequently asked to leave the premises. This behavior was disrespectful, unprofessional, and in no way justified. This is definitely not how you treat guests. Even after contacting him personally, he showed absolutely no understanding. This whole situation could have been handled differently and more politely. We had been regular customers for many years, but unfortunately, that's no longer the case.

When we arrived at the restaurant at 11:07 pm (after having already been there at 10:30 pm to ask if we could sit down, but the table wasn't available yet, which was perfectly understandable), we wanted to sit down, but there were no free tables. One of us was apparently standing by the guestbook (which was just lying open at Theresen) and looking at it, whereupon the owner yelled at him/us to leave, claiming it was a data protection violation. I then apologized to the owner, explaining that it was unintentional, that we work in the restaurant industry ourselves, and that we were simply waiting for the table we had reserved. At that point, one of us was pushed outside by the intoxicated owner, who yelled at us and told us never to show our faces there again. We were treated very disrespectfully and unfairly and simply wished we could have resolved the situation differently. We all used to come regularly, but not anymore, sorry.

Dear Central Team, we had a reservation with you for 10 people, but when we arrived there were no tables available. Instead of saying, "Yes, something will open up here in 5 minutes, please wait a moment," we were kicked out by the clearly intoxicated manager. There are plenty of alternatives in Bochum; it's a shame we won't be coming back.

Unfortunately, my visit to Zentral yesterday was very disappointing. The atmosphere and ambiance could have contributed to a pleasant evening, but were completely ruined by the behavior of one of the managers. He reacted extremely angrily to what appeared to be a trivial situation, shouting loudly and addressing guests in a tone that was completely inappropriate and disrespectful. This behavior came across as very unprofessional.

The tiramisu and panna cotta were beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the taste didn't live up to the presentation at all. The tiramisu, at €9, was significantly overpriced and a huge disappointment. It was heavily alcoholic, very watery overall, and the base was completely soggy. There was no trace of a classic tiramisu flavor. The panna cotta was also underwhelming and couldn't salvage the disappointing overall experience. In conclusion: Visually appealing, but the taste was unconvincing. I would not order tiramisu or any other desserts here again.

I'm very disappointed because the dishes were dirty! The plate had stains (coffee?), was greasy all around, and had a pinkish thumbprint (yogurt?). I politely pointed out that it was unappetizing, and I was told I'd get a new portion. The waiter disappeared with the plate and returned 10 minutes later with what appeared to be a new one. Upon closer inspection, the edges of this plate had been wiped clean. The scrambled eggs were warm, but the bread (I had wiped the butter knife on the first plate) was the same bread from the first, dirty plate. I didn't want to complain again and ate some of the scrambled eggs, which actually tasted quite good, but I left the rest of the eggs and the bread. I'd lost my appetite. When paying, I mentioned the situation. The waitress seemed rather uninterested and said she would inform the kitchen. An apology would have been nice, at least. Normally, I should have complained, but I paid in silence. ... I don't expect clean plates at a fast-food joint, but at a reputable establishment like Zentral, I do, at least on the second try. And I would have liked to have been taken seriously, because the mistake wasn't mine. The question is whether this lack of hygiene applies to all the other food and drinks. It's a shame; I was really looking forward to breakfast.

The food was delicious and the portions were very large. Unfortunately, the waitress was very unfriendly.

The waiter was very rude when taking our order. The cake that was delivered was definitely a few days old. The drinks, however, were very tasty. Overall, though, the value for money was very disappointing.

The Central used to be good, back in the day... But today I had a complete disaster. We were only allowed to sit at the tables in the corner in front of the bar to eat. Even though... all the tables in the dining area were free and we arrived at 3 pm, when nobody was sitting there and it was a quiet time for customers at the Central... And they told us that more guests would be arriving later. We just wanted to eat in peace and be on our way... Here at the bar on the left, it was louder than any cafeteria 😞 We constantly had the sound of schnitzel tenderizing in our ears, as loud as a workman tearing open walls... we couldn't have a conversation... Absolutely awful. On top of that, there was the sound of the coffee filter being tapped, and then my food was super spicy instead of mild. We left it, paid, and left...

Great café, which also serves delicious Kölsch beer and the classic dish "Himmel und Erde" (Heaven and Earth). We ate here twice and always got a table – many thanks to the friendly staff! The food was always delicious! Great atmosphere!

Thomas is very polite and nice. Even without asking, you get your hot chocolate with a shot of liquor and your cola with orange instead of lemon.

Didn't try the food, but Thomas is a really lovely person. They also had lactose-free milk; I'll definitely visit again!

I highly recommend the fish platter with the delicious sauce. They also offer lactose-free latte macchiato with a delectable raspberry cream cheese cake, also lactose-free.

Cozy cafe/restaurant and delicious food. The halibut was juicy and grilled golden brown on the outside. The homemade tiramisu tasted exceptional, as the buisquit had a slight salty note. The menu offered enough choices, so it wasn't easy for us to choose. There was also a separate dinner menu, which offered my dish, "grilled halibut," as an option. Many thanks to the service, very attentive and funny at the same time.

Terrible service and a lack of professionalism and respect for visitors. I'll share my experience: I'm from Madrid, Spain. I arrived for lunch with my family from Bochum at 2:20 p.m. I ordered a special dish from the ones they make Monday through Friday until 3:00 p.m. After waiting half an hour and watching the rest of my family being served, and I still haven't received my dish, I asked the waitress what's wrong with my dish, and she replied that she was very busy and couldn't make it because it's 3:00 p.m. But I ordered it at 2:00 p.m.? And that was your problem and disorganization, not mine. And besides, the kitchen is still open with cooks, and you could make me the dish without a problem! I was left without food, hungry, and angry, with no solution from Café Zentral. I won't go back, I don't recommend it.

Service was very good! Soft drinks were also very tasty. You felt right at home there.

Nice cafe, good service, but the Cappuccino Grande for 4.60 euros was, in my opinion, too small and not worth the difference compared to the regular cappuccino, even though it was very tasty.

Always a recommended address for a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant has a pleasantly timeless, simple interior. The staff, from reception to table service, was friendly and competent. The individual courses of the menu were well coordinated. The respective dishes were prepared to perfection using fresh ingredients and were well presented on the plate. A harmonious selection of drinks was also offered. We would love to come back again.

Delicious breakfast enjoyed on Sundays in a lovely atmosphere. In terms of price it was also absolutely fine. Special respect for the service staff, who was able to memorize every order without any mistakes in a large group of 8 people.

Today when I was in the central with my family and a friend, I ordered a ceaser salad, which I found very tasty. A few minutes later there was a small error in the kitchen. When I reported this, I was offered a new salad, which I declined. As an apology, I was given a cocoa, which was also very tasty. Darius sweetened my evening. Many thanks to Darius for his nice reaction and support. Nicest and best waiter who shares his job with passion and motivation.

Everything OK. My noodles were delicious, the service was good. Everything was good and without complaints, nothing special beyond that. Good for an honest normal meal. What bothers me is the narrowness. Even at tables for two, the people sitting next to each other sit so close to each other, not a hand's width apart, that it is not possible to say a few words that are not intended for anyone listening.

Clearly recommended when meeting up with friends. This is where the somewhat more mature Bochum meets. Everything is a little quieter. Food is good, portions could be a little more, then it would be appropriate for the price. Ambience nice. 100m from the parking garage.

I mainly know Central from lunchtime. The lunch menu is always very interesting and I have always been very happy with what I have chosen. It was tasty, filling and more than worth the price. The service is always friendly, quick and very helpful.

Why does her employee have to wave the plate of olives 20 cm in front of my nose, my face? Nobody wants anything at this sensitive distance. It's like the plate is flying so close in front of you. That makes you frightened. That's disrespectful. Be mindful of distance, respect, and feelings and perceptions of others. This generation needs to learn some things that others learned at 12. 3 days later: Different service, super competent. With just one coffee, which was placed in a "low flight", and a 20ct tip, there was still a beaming smile. THANK YOU you saved it mentally!

The acoustics in the guest room are miserable, if there are a lot of people in the room you can't understand your own words. The service is hectic and creates an uncomfortable atmosphere. As a guest you feel under pressure. The "pulled salmon" is not "pulled" and the side dish is below chip shop level. More than disappointing in the price range. But well, sometimes you need to be reminded why you haven't been there for a long time.

Welcoming café and restaurant. Courteous service. The coffee, tea and cake are tasty and the salad is fresh. You can sit inside and outside. Despite the entrance to the parking garage, you can have a discreet conversation without major disruption from traffic.

Easily the best meal I had in Bochum, and possibly the best meal I’ve had during any visit to Germany! The food was gorgeous, lovely atmosphere with the doors open on a summer evening, and most of all fantastic service from Milena, who was absolutely charming and made sure we were well catered for all evening.

Even one star is too many. I would like to briefly describe the situation that happened to me and leave it to you to judge. There were two of us and we each ordered an iced coffee. We spent about three hours outside talking. Suddenly we were asked to leave by the staff because we had apparently consumed too little and we needed to make sales. (The restaurant was only half full.) The employee's tone and behavior were hostile and unacceptable. As two students who work in the catering industry ourselves, we have never experienced or heard of such behavior towards guests. I can only advise everyone not to choose this place if you want to spend a nice time with friends or family.

My absolute favorite café in downtown Bochum, you can sit both inside and outside, the service is always quick and also takes special requests into account :). The breakfast is wonderful, I recommend the Eggsbenedict and the breakfast wish list. The lunch and the season menu are also very convincing, I can really only recommend the shop.

Located in the heart of Bochum's center this bar & restaurant offers nice atmosphere with kind waiters. The food is OK But not place best feature. The pasta was a bit overcooked. The octopus was OK but special.

Had lunch here prior to going to watch England at the Euros. Beef tartare was spot on! Might be back again this weekend for more.

One of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. We made reservations for 10 people and were almost the only people in the restaurant. We waited about 2 hours (!!) until the food came. At some point after 90 minutes and when asked, they said, “Sorry, we’re having problems in the kitchen.” That can happen sometimes, but then you serve a small appetizer on the house - even if it's just bread and olive oil - instead of letting people stare for two hours. But here they apparently skimp on every last cent - which is also reflected in the portions. Pair of tomatoes, mozzarella, pesto and bread for ~13€. Absolutely no respect for the customer. That was our first and last visit.

CENTRAL in Bochum really impressed me! The urban atmosphere 🌆 combined with stylish furnishings immediately created an inviting atmosphere. The cocktails were excellent, every sip was a pleasure 🍹. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the evening perfect. I particularly liked the variety of the drinks menu - there is something for every taste. In terms of price, ZENTRAL is in the fair range, especially when you take into account the quality of the cocktails and the excellent service. A great place to relax after a long day.

Went to Café Zentral for breakfast. We had free choice of seating as the café was not that busy in the morning. The service was friendly and served us promptly. We opted for the English breakfast as well as a juice and coffee The food was delicious and filled you up enough. The juice was fresh. The atmosphere was very cozy. However, I unfortunately have to say that in the end I find the prices a bit expensive for a breakfast with a juice. I would still come back again. PS: Neither of us liked the “orange jam” at all. We couldn't taste anything like an orange here.

Yes, Café Zentral is hip and nice and the food is good. Towels in the toilet would be nice, the music would be less loud and the service would be attentive at the right moment.

On weekends you should reserve a table. Very good selection of breakfast options. During the week there are wish lists for breakfast, at the weekend you choose from the menu. You can't go wrong with anything.

The food was very tasty even if there were things in the meal that weren't on the menu. Then I expect something different from the service as it is always the case that there is something in the food that is not on the menu. I can't imagine this being taught to staff like this. A pity
