My absolute favorite café in downtown Bochum, you can sit both inside and outside, the service is always quick and also takes special requests into account :). The breakfast is wonderful, I recommend the Eggsbenedict and the breakfast wish list. The lunch and the season menu are also very convincing, I can really only recommend the shop.

Located in the heart of Bochum's center this bar & restaurant offers nice atmosphere with kind waiters. The food is OK But not place best feature. The pasta was a bit overcooked. The octopus was OK but special.

Had lunch here prior to going to watch England at the Euros. Beef tartare was spot on! Might be back again this weekend for more.

One of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. We made reservations for 10 people and were almost the only people in the restaurant. We waited about 2 hours (!!) until the food came. At some point after 90 minutes and when asked, they said, “Sorry, we’re having problems in the kitchen.” That can happen sometimes, but then you serve a small appetizer on the house - even if it's just bread and olive oil - instead of letting people stare for two hours. But here they apparently skimp on every last cent - which is also reflected in the portions. Pair of tomatoes, mozzarella, pesto and bread for ~13€. Absolutely no respect for the customer. That was our first and last visit.

CENTRAL in Bochum really impressed me! The urban atmosphere 🌆 combined with stylish furnishings immediately created an inviting atmosphere. The cocktails were excellent, every sip was a pleasure 🍹. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the evening perfect. I particularly liked the variety of the drinks menu - there is something for every taste. In terms of price, ZENTRAL is in the fair range, especially when you take into account the quality of the cocktails and the excellent service. A great place to relax after a long day.

Went to Café Zentral for breakfast. We had free choice of seating as the café was not that busy in the morning. The service was friendly and served us promptly. We opted for the English breakfast as well as a juice and coffee The food was delicious and filled you up enough. The juice was fresh. The atmosphere was very cozy. However, I unfortunately have to say that in the end I find the prices a bit expensive for a breakfast with a juice. I would still come back again. PS: Neither of us liked the “orange jam” at all. We couldn't taste anything like an orange here.

There's too much dessert. They thaw the frozen product and serve it. It was stale and tasteless. The shop is very nice and spacious, but unfortunately the waiters are not friendly.

Yes, Café Zentral is hip and nice and the food is good. Towels in the toilet would be nice, the music would be less loud and the service would be attentive at the right moment.

It is very nice. Good price/performance ratio. You have to book in advance otherwise it will be difficult to find space.

Urban atmosphere, average food quality. Completely overwhelmed and at the same time unmotivated service staff. According to the kitchen, egg dishes offered after 3 p.m. are “impossible” and more than 20 minutes pass between ordering and serving a piece of cake. Overall, no longer a recommendation since the central used to be an institution.

On weekends you should reserve a table. Very good selection of breakfast options. During the week there are wish lists for breakfast, at the weekend you choose from the menu. You can't go wrong with anything.

The food was very tasty even if there were things in the meal that weren't on the menu. Then I expect something different from the service as it is always the case that there is something in the food that is not on the menu. I can't imagine this being taught to staff like this. A pity

I think is one of the best coffee in town. Finally a nice atmosphere, MUSIC, good food and normal prices. Many caffees here in Bochum they dont play music so i loved that. Update February 15, 2024: been there several times last year and again today👍👍👍. Update January 17, 2023: The breakfast for 2 people with Prosecco was not cheap, but good and plenty for two people. Yogurt with fruit perfectly suited my taste. Coffee very good and strong. Service very friendly 👍👍👍. Update on July 14, 2020 Unfortunately, we are disappointed today. Breakfast price/performance, not okay. You shouldn't allocate the seats outside on the day/time (Luisenstr.) of the garbage collection and the background noise from the trucks in the morning is very unpleasant. 2019: Trendy place to have something to eat or even just drink. The background noise is sometimes unpleasant

Very nice staff....nice atmosphere....unfortunately the room is far too warm, but everyone feels that differently.

In terms of the overall quality of stay, it is a nice and valuable alternative to the many cafés in the system catering industry.

I had pasta and wine here and loved it, only the cream of the pasta could be better😋

High prices, I decided on an iced coffee that was advertised on the table. According to the waiter, it can only be ordered in summer. I think all the ingredients would have been there. Service looks different to me. I then ordered a coke for €5.50.

We recommend the raspberry cream cheese cake. All types of coffee are also very tasty. The service staff are all very, very nice and polite.

Wir waren des Öfteren dort. Nettes Lokal, freundliche Bedienung und leckeres Frühstück.

Zum Glück gibt es in Bochum das Zentral und das Tucholsky. Beides sind geschmackvoll beleuchtete und eingerichtete RestaurantBars. Die Kellnerinnen sind freundlich und aufmerksam; die Musik akzeptabel. Das Publikum im Alter gemischt. Toiletten sind gepflegt.

Das Essen war gut , etwas wenig Soße , aber das wurde nachträglich verbessert :) also ein gelungenes Mittagessen . Und wirklich netter Service :) hier komme ich gerne wieder .

Macht etwas her. Ambiente ist warm und gehobener, doch dennoch ehrlich. Der Service war gut und das Essen toll. Nur Brot extra berechnen fand ich etwas befremdlich. In der Gesamtheit 5 Sterne.

Ein sehr nettes Lokal, die Kellnerin sehr aufmerksam und die anderen beschäftigen sehr engagiert. Das Frühstück ist da sehr gut und preislich Verhältnis stimmt. Da es klein ist, sitz man wirklich sehr nahe beinander und ist sehr laut. Vor allem jetzt im Winter wo es keine Möglichkeit gibt draußen zu sitzen. Dennoch sehr empfehlenswert

Super freundlicher Service, sehr leckeres Frühstück. Das einzige kleine Manko ist, dass es im Gastraum relativ laut ist, was aber natürlich die restliche Qualität nicht schmälert.

Wer die Minestrone nicht probiert hat, ist selber Schuld! Die ist verflucht gut, und die Portion völlig angemessen für eine durchschnittliche Mahlzeit. Ich habe aber auch schon andere leckere Sachen dort gegessen. Fiege Pils gibt es, für mich ein Mindestanspruch an jedes Bochumer Lokal. Die Weinkarte ist aber auch richtig gut. Alles in allem ein toller Laden: Gutes, geselliges Ambiente, ein bisschen Schick, ein bisschen Bistro-Kneipe, für die meisten Geschmäcker und Geldbeutel ist was dabei. Kehre dort eigentlich immer gerne ein, wenn ich das Glück habe, mal wieder nach Bochum zu kommen. Die Lage ist auch ganz praktisch.

Ungewöhnliche Atmosphäre an diesem Ort. Coole Lösung mit Spiegel 😉 Aufgrund der vielen Leute ist es immer etwas laut. Manchmal kann man seinen Gesprächspartner nicht hören und muss schreien. Haustiere sind erlaubt, man kann sich die süßen Hunde jederzeit anschauen. Das Essen ist köstlich und wunderschön.

Es gibt leider keine w-lan Verbindung und Espresso schmeckt nicht mehr wie früher …

Wir waren früher oft im Zentral und natürlich mussten wir dort hin, als ich Bochum besucht habe. Wow, das hat sich aber verändert! Das Essen war unteres Mittel, der Salat unwürdig und die Schokotarte eindeutig in der Mikrowelle aufgewärmt. An der Bedienung haben wir schmerzlich gemerkt, wie schwer es ist niveauvolles Servicepersonal zu bekommen.Ein Trostpflaster gab es noch: Von den Preisen her habe ich mich wie in meiner Heimatstadt Düsseldorf gefühlt.

Immer wieder toll, hier Mal eine Pause einzulegen. 😊

Sehr unfreundliche Kellnerin, die die Atmosphäre leider versaut hat. Essen ist ok aber nichts Besonderes. Waren mit unserem 2-Jährigen und Baby da und niemand hat uns einen Hochstuhl angeboten. Sehr schade, weil da drin ist es sehr schön und ich war früher immer gern zum frühstücken da.

Gutes Essen zu mässigen Preisen. Der Service aber unfreundlich und kurz angebunden. Man hat sich leider gefühlt als würde man nicht willkommen sein. Stressige Atmosphäre.

Immer wieder eine empfehlenswerte Adresse für ein gutes Essen in angenehmer Atmosphäre. Das Restaurant verfügt über eine angenehm zeitlose, schlichte Einrichtung. Das Personal, vom Empfang bis hin zum Service am Tisch, war freundlich und kompetent. Die einzelnen Gänge des Menüs waren gut aufeinander abgestimmt. Die jeweiligen Gerichte waren aus frischen Zutaten auf den Punkt zubereitet und auf dem Teller gut präsentiert. Dazu wurde eine stimmige Getränkeauswahl angeboten. Wir kommen gerne nochmal wieder.

Auch zum Mittagstisch empfehlenswert

Ich hatte dieses Lokal mit Freunden gewählt um eine nahe gelegenes Kettenlokal zu vermeiden. Es war mein erster Besuch dort, deshalb kann ich nur von Frühstücksqualität sprechen. 3 Personen, 3 untersch. Frühstücke. Vorab, es ist dort sehr gemütlich und das Personal freundlich. Bei sämtlichen Frühstückskomponenten kann ich wirklich nichts postives sagen, da es durchweg nicht gut war. Sämtliche! Getränke sind exklusive, selbst der erste Kaffee Eigentlich auch alles andere! Meine Wahl war Frühstück Mezzo Mezzo, da ich Standard bevorzuge. Alles passte auf einen kleinen Teller. Das gefühlt 3 x aufgekochte Methusalem Ei, 2 kleine Aufbackbrötchen!! Buttefetzen, vorher abgefragte Wurst Käsescheibe. Das Wichtigste, der Kaffee war eine,nachdem Filterkaffe nicht bestellbar, eine große! Tasse Crema. Die Tasse war halb voll, lauwarm und sorry, knapp 4 Euro für Tasse auf Platte, Knopfdruck,fertig, ist einfach zu wenig. Alles andere würde jetzt den Rahmen einer Rezension sprengen nur noch, dass eine einfache durchaus aufwertene Scheibe Gurke/Tomate/ Salat Fehlanzeige war. Das war gar! nichts, selbst für günstige 7.50 € nicht. Bitte kein Frühstück mehr anbieten, oder einfach mehr Geld nehmen und unbedingt selbst mal den Kaffee schmecken/ probieren. Ein frisches Brötchen Scheibe Brot erwarte ich einfach mindestens, wenn es keine Kette ist...

Tolles Restaurant und Café. Egal ob morgens zum Frühstück oder Abends zum Essen, immer sehr netter Service und leckeres Essen.

Fantastische Spaghetti mit Gambas.

Wir wollten nach etlichen Empfehlungen das Frühstück testen. Leider wurden wir enttäuscht, das „English Breakfast“ besteht leider zu 95% nur aus Öl! Auch das Rührei war leider extrem ölig. Alles in allem war das Ganze ungenießbar, als wir dem Kellner das gezeigt haben, wurde uns nur gesagt das es weiter gegeben wird, es gab aber keinerlei Entschuldigung oder Entgegenkommen.

Cafe Zental ist einfach die Adresse schlecht hin in Bochum! Super freundliches Personal, keine lange Wartezeiten auf Getränke oder Essen. Ich freue mich schon wieder auf das nächste Mal dort vorbei zu schauen.

Einer der letzten Klassiker der Gastronomie,die Bochumer Stadtleben ausmachen

Super Restaurant/Bar in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Bermuda-Dreieck und dem Hauptbahnhof in Bochum. Habe dort Pasta mit Lachs gegessen, war sehr lecker. Preislich auch voll in Ordnung. Komme gerne noch einmal vorbei.

Mal wieder im Cafe Zentral einen Stopp eingelegt. An unserem Abend herzlicher Empfang im gemütlich zeitlosen eingerichteten Restaurant/Bistro. Freundliches kompetentes Personal. Speisen wirkten frisch waren lecker. Die Getränke waren für mich preislich an der obersten Grenze. Insgesamt einladend u.sehr gemütlich. Immer mal wieder gerne wenn ich in Bochum bin.

Wir waren mit einer großen Gruppe dort und haben gemeinsam gefrühstückt. Der Service war prima, die Mitarbeiter alle sehr freundlich. Darüberhinaus möchte ich mich nochmal bei Harry bedanken, der dafür sorgte, dass wir mit über 20 Personen überhaupt so spontan im Zentral frühstücken konnten. Es war ein gelungener Abschluss unserer Feier am Vortag. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig und lecker. Wir können es nur jedem empfehlen. Man kann gemütlich zusammensitzen, sowohl drinnen als auch draußen.

So busy wie vor 30 Jahren. Wirklich sehr bemerkenswert, dass sich der Laden so lange Zeit mit nahezu der gleichen Einrichtung gehalten hat - und immer noch so gefragt ist.

Wir sind eigentlich immer gern ins Zentral gekommen. Weder am Essen noch am Service gibt es etwas auszusetzen. Allerdings finde ich über 7€ für eine 0,75 Flasche Wasser wirklich übertrieben. Inflation hin oder her..

Einfach nur top und die Speisen und die Weine sind mega. Personal ist sehr freundlich und auch Aufmerksam. Auch wenn die Bude Voll ist. Das Zentral gehört einfach dazu in Bochums Innenstadt

Frühstück zentral - im Café Zentral Nach 27 Jahren habe ich es endlich mal in das Café Zentral in Bochum geschafft. Ich war schon am Teenager irgendwie von diesem Eckcafé mit blauen Lettern und schweren Vorhängen an der Tür fasziniert. Und nun war es so weit - mein erster Besuch, eine Verabredung zum Frühstück. Meine Wahl viel auf das ‚mezzo mezzo‘: zwei Brötchen, Käse, Schinken, Butter & Ei. Beim Käse hatte man die Wahl zwischen Gouda oder Leerdamer, beim Aufschnitt sogar zwischen Salami, Parmaschinken oder Kochschinken. Die Auswahl an „fertig“ zusammengestellten Frühstückensembles ist groß. Wer da noch nicht fündig wird, dem bleiben darüber hinaus Frühstück à la carte zum selbst zusammenstellen oder aber übrige Klassiker wie ‚eggs benedict‘ oder ‚french toast‘ und vielem mehr. Begleitet von einer tollen Auswahl an Säften, Kaffeespezialitäten und Tees. Auf ein baldiges! Das wird keine 27 Jahre dauern 🫠

Die Pastagerichte sind besonders gut. Wenn man allerdings wirklich Hunger hat, könnte die Portion etwas größer sein.

Kein schlechter Laden, na klar. Aber dass die Zeit der Pause nicht für eine Verbesserung bei der Barrierefreiheit genutzt wurde, finde ich spricht einfach gegen das Café Zentral
