Unfortunately the restaurant didn't convince us. We waited almost 2 hours for our food. Food itself was fresh but just ok. There was hardly any meat in the meat dishes (4-5 pieces, half the size of a thumb). Service was attentive, nothing to complain about :)

We visited Zambezi Springs 5 ​​years ago and loved it back then, which is why we went there again today. The ambience is OK, although I personally don't like flower pots and soil on the tables - but that's a matter of taste. The staff was friendly, the food was served in a reasonable time frame. The starter: the soup with goat meat was very tasty, the meat was tender and tasted good. However, the amount of soup and filling was very little. The dumplings with the meatballs were also OK, but very greasy and the dumpling was very dominant. The dip looked like it had been bought ready-made. The main course: the perch with couscous and sauce was good, although here too the sauce didn't taste homemade and wasn't enough and the fish overall could have been seasoned a little better. The maffé with lamb was very tasty. The sauce was plentiful, but for €16.90 there were just four pieces of meat the size of a cherry tomato. 2 pieces of carrot and potato. The price-performance ratio is a disgrace. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend the restaurant and will not come back again.

We came with a group of 11 people and the owner of the restaurant, upon our request, quickly prepared the tables in the courtyard for our visit. So we could all sit together. I had ordered tilapia, ugali, salad and plantains. I really enjoyed it, especially the tilapia. The service was also very good and attentive. We were often asked if we would like to order anything else. The owner was also very friendly and personable. I'd love to come back!

We came here via the Schlemmerblock and secured a 2 for 1 coupon. We reserved 45 minutes in advance on Google and had this confirmed, but were told that we had to give them the time because they had just opened. We were able to choose a free seat and then had to wait an hour for the food. As a small consolation, we were given an appetizer, which was delicious. The main courses followed, my chapati flew off the plate when it was served, I got a new one, but it was coated in frying fat. My curry had exactly the same sauce as the starter, which was a shame because I was looking forward to new tastes, the coconut peanut sauce was delicious, but the beef was very tough and hard. We wouldn't come here again. The restaurant could be decorated much more nicely, the path to the toilet seems very untidy. The staff is divided, the lady was very friendly and nice - the gentleman wasn't at the beginning. Card payment possible. There are no parking spaces, park in the surrounding area.

I would have the curry with chicken. There was enough meat in it, but the rest wasn't okay. There was a 1 cm oil film on top, then only frozen vegetables (peas, carrots, corn), the fufu was cold and there was oil with a strange taste on the fufu. Without fufu the dish was too salty, with it it was okay. The toilet was, well... soap dispenser empty, smelled unpleasant, toilet not that clean. Food and drinks arrived at a reasonable time, no one asked whether we liked it or whether we wanted more drinks. It was just cleared away, he saw our empty glasses and he didn't ask anything. We had to go in to pay ourselves.

Unfortunately, I had hoped for more. There was really little meat served in the dishes. The service was also only moderately motivated.

Lively atmosphere in the old town. Friendly service who are also happy to answer questions. Prices are reasonable. Food is well prepared and freshly prepared. My expectations were well met, even if more spice wouldn't have hurt. Down-to-earth restaurant without a lot of shishi.

Liebe Leute , dear people, I visited this Zambezi springs .. I had to wait for 90min. For my food. Hence, was the only Guest there. The worst African food have ever ate in my entire life. No salt, pepper. Generally disgusting .. 🤮 🤮

I was expecting more spice and a different taste. In my experience with Iranian cuisine, meat dishes with a special sauce should have a long cooking time, but unfortunately my dish called pilaf tasted like raw onions. The apple-ginger drink was not freshly prepared, but factory-made. The waitress was very friendly and polite.

We ate fufu for the first time. It was a dream. The shop was actually already closed but we were welcomed with open arms. The food is only recommended!!!:) and the service even more so!!!🤗🤗

Really great food! There is a wide range of vegetarian/vegan options, as a larger group we tried everything out, everything was delicious. Salad is served with most things and the dressing is to die for. The desserts are also highly recommended. All around good!

Great African restaurant with very nice service, delicious, authentic food and African beer. The best African food I have ever eaten outside of Africa. For me it's always a must visit whenever I'm in Hanover 👍.

For us, the worst restaurant in Hanover so far. Reserved for 1:00 p.m. but were not allowed to enter the restaurant until 1:30 p.m. Eating very tough beef, food served cold, only one type of beer available, Water billed incorrectly (large bottle instead of small bottle), etc. Really not recommended!

A surprise bag, you may be lucky or not. The ambience is simple and nothing special (no holiday feeling). The service was not very professional, which was partly made up for by friendliness and empathy. The braised dishes we had were very tasty. On the recommendation of the neighboring table, I decided on a water buffalo steak. Unfortunately I was unlucky, it was served well done instead of medium. There was a slight discount for that.

After almost 50 minutes of waiting for the food, the shop was hardly busy, the food finally arrived. The soup was totally watery and had hardly any taste and you had to look for the meat and vegetables. Fufu was good, meat competed with the sole of a shoe and won. Far too small portions for the money. It was there once and unfortunately it stays that way.

Reserved a table for 5 people for my birthday on a Saturday. Unfortunately we waited almost an hour for the food, which was lukewarm to cold and incomplete (couscous and sauce were missing, steak was raw)... The ambience and service were good, but they couldn't make up for the bad experience. A pity :(

The food was really tasty and plentiful. We had 2 starters and 2 main courses, the South African red wine and beer. We were given an extra portion of fufu with sauce to try. Next time we'll order fufu instead of rice as a side dish, that's for sure. The waitress took the time to explain our questions about the food. Relaxed, nice atmosphere. Having to wait 90 minutes hungry in a relatively empty shop for your food is beyond borderline - with the last main meal being served when everyone else was almost finished. The service was friendly, but rather - I would call it quite relaxed. This is all the more annoying because even then the food was surprisingly tasty. I don't know if it was because I was hungry, but the portions could have been a little larger. Conclusion: delicious if you have a lot of time and nothing else to do.

Very tasty traditional African dishes that are adapted to the German palate. All dishes are also available as a vegetarian version and for the original spiciness there is the house's own hot sauce (just order it). Extremely friendly and informative service. We would love to come back because we felt very welcome and completely comfortable.

I have rarely received such poor and unfriendly service. The restaurant was virtually empty, but we were still seated at a "cat table". The waitress was extremely dismissive, neither making eye contact nor smiling once. Nobody here was interested in whether we liked the food. We had to ask for cutlery, there were no napkins. Everything was slammed on the table without asking or thanking you. The food was quite tasty, but it didn't make up for the disastrous service. If you want to feel really “unwelcome”, I can only recommend this restaurant!

We waited almost 40 minutes for our food even though there were only two people there when we arrived. The portions are definitely too expensive for the amount you get. The stews were very watery and my curry was more like a pea stew. Service was okay, not overly friendly. It was worth a try, but unfortunately we were disappointed.

A rather average experience. The dishes we ordered were neither particularly creative nor did the portions - especially for the main courses - match the prices. In the stew, which was more of a very liquid curry, there were 3 pieces of lamb, 1 half potato and a piece of carrot. The rest was just gravy. Wow!

During our visit to 'Zambesi Springs' in Hanover, a West African restaurant, we were greeted by an interesting menu that offered traditional dishes like mafé and exotic meats like zebra and water buffalo. The dishes, including stuffed dumplings and peanut pot, were tasty, although a little more seasoning would have been appreciated. The plantains with chocolate sauce for dessert unfortunately lacked a bit of sophistication. The ambience of the restaurant was authentic with folkloric decoration and colorful tablecloths which gave the place a charming character. The service was friendly and accommodating, even if the waiting times between courses were relatively long. A highlight was the selection of drinks with local specialties such as DjuDju banana and ginger beer, which added a special touch. Despite some room for improvement in terms of seasoning and menu variety, it was a pleasant visit, particularly reinforced by the excellent service and welcoming ambience.

This is the second time we have been to Zambezi Springs and we are thrilled. Just try something different, exactly to our taste. Today we had zebra and water buffalo, simply delicious. The dumplings and goat soup are also highly recommended. The service is totally friendly. We will be back.

Had the casserole with peanut coconut sauce with beef. There were 4 small chewy strips of beef in it. The sauce was very bland and the portion was small. The second dish was with masala sauce and lamb, there was also very little lamb and a bland sauce that tasted of nothing. Same with the salad dressing - a touch of nothing... We definitely won't go here again.

Overpriced, small rations, long waiting times. Went to experience something exotic but were very disappointed: Yhenwaiter mixed up the orders with those of another table so that we satires 90 min to get the wrong dish. He was very friendly, I admit. However, since the portions were very small, we were hungry again when we reached our house 39 min later. Also, the food was nothing special, reminded me of cafeteria meal

Were here today for the first and last time...the gentleman at the cash register/bar with Capi was impossible, no hello, no smile, nothing...as soon as you come in you feel like going out again....... .curiosity drove us in....well, we placed an order and waited 45 minutes....for food that wasn't really edible, everyone at our table had ordered something different but the basic basis was the same.... I had chicken curry...which really didn't taste like curry. The chicken meat was sooo inedible....I can't believe it was fresh...more like the sole of a shoe, the poor animal had already died 4 times, it was that old...the sauce was a watery broth full of onions.... My girlfriend had ordered Veggy and was served ice cold with this bad, soupy sauce with onions as the main dish with fufu...I think it's cheeky to serve something like that as African food...we were back after 15 minutes outside....luckily I didn't get diarrhea.....the food was really sad

We had a great evening where everything really went well. Even though it was relatively full, they took the time to explain to us what was behind the menu so that we could follow the recommendations. Thank you again for that. We wish the entire team all the best and were completely happy.

I actually don't like writing negative reviews because, as we all know, food is a matter of taste. But if, after waiting for more than an hour, cold dishes are served and the steaks are served like the sole of a shoe, even though the request was "rare" or "medium rare", then... A pity. We won't be coming back, even though the ambience and staff were very nice.

Leider sehr schlecht !!!! Preise im Netz leider falsch, alles ca. 20 % teurer in der Speisekarte . Kein Preis-Leistungsverhältnis 100g Gulasch für 16€, ZebraSteak ( Sehr schlechte Fleischqualität) ca 150g, mehr war es nicht, jetzt 27€, Wasserbüffel-Steak ( Sehr schlechte Fleischqualität) 32 € kann man in Deutschland. wesentlich besser machen, war unterste Schublade. Haben mit 6 Personen 270€ ausgegeben. Einmal und nicht wieder !!!!!! Habe schon ca. 100 mal in Afrika gegessen , aber so schlecht war es nie.

Tolles Essen. Wir waren am Samstag da und für uns war es das erste Mal, dass wir afrikanisch gegessen haben. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Es waren an diesem Tag, aufgrund eines Ausfalls, nur 2 Leute da und obwohl das Restaurant komplett voll war, hat alles super geklappt. Klar hat alles etwas länger gedauert, aber das war für uns gar kein Problem. Der Service war wirklich super. Die Mitarbeiter haben einfach alles gegeben um den großen Ansturm zu bewältigen. Danke für den schönen Abend. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Musik hatte ein Dauerstörgeräusch, wir mussten 3x nach einem Wasser fragen und das Essen hat super lange gedauert. Das Restaurant war mit uns drei und zwei anderen Paaren besetzt. Haben knapp 1 1/2 h gewartet. Der Kellner war nett und lustig drauf.

Die Lage des Restaurants ist super, der Service war jedoch sehr langsam und wir mussten lange auf unser Essen warten - zugegeben, es war auch sehr voll. Meine Vorspeise die Pepe Soup mit Ziege war erst sehr aromatisch, hat aber schnell nachgelassen. Das Fleisch war lecker, qualitativ jedoch sehr schlecht. Wenig Fleisch, hauptsächlich Knorpel und Knochen. Insgesamt hätte die Suppe mehr Einlage nötig gehabt und die Schüssel hätte ruhig größer sein dürfen. Der fufu hat mir ganz gut geschmeckt, wobei er mir etwas süßlicher vorkam. Beim Jollof Reis mit Barsch hatte ich einen Mix erwartet, es handelte sich jedoch um ein frittiertes kleines Filet, das geschmacklich okay war. Der Reis blieb mir nicht besonders in Erinnerung.

Vor einigen Jahren haben wir mit einer größeren Gruppe den Vorgänger des Zambesi Springs (damals:"Kilimanjaro") besucht und fanden es mehr als durchwachsen. Nun hat es uns Afrika-Fans nach längerem wieder einmal nach Hannover verschlagen, und wir dachten:"Neuer Name, neuer Inhaber, dem geben wir eine Chance!" Das Positive vorweg: das Essen hat wirklich gut geschmeckt. Auch das Windhoek Lager habe ich mir schmecken lassen, das kannte ich noch von unserem Urlaub in Namibia. Leider überwiegt mal wieder das durchaus Diskussionswürdige... Die Vorspeise (2 kleine Teigtaschen für 6,90 Euro) wurden in anderen Bewertungen schon thematisiert, diese waren viel zu teuer für die kleine Menge. Es wirkte auf uns auch nicht sehr vertrauensvoll, dass der Inhaber diese an einem Tisch im Lokal zubereitet hat, und nicht, wie man erwarten sollte, in der Küche unter hygienischen Umständen. Ahnlich verhielt es sich mit den Hauptgerichten. Das Hähnchen Curry hat -wie oben bereits erwähnt- sehr gut geschmeckt, aber die maximal 5 kleinen Stückchen Fleisch haben nie im Leben den Preis von 15,90 Euro gerechtfertigt. Das Kurioseste jedoch war die Bedienung. Es war offensichtlich, dass hier ausschließlich ungelernte Mitarbeiter am Werk waren. Der junge Mann, der unsere Bestellung aufgenommen hat, bekam den Mund kaum auf, und seine Jeans hätte es wirklich mal wieder nötig gehabt, eine Waschmaschine von innen zu sehen. Die junge gepflegte Dame schien kein Deutsch zu sprechen und verstand kein Wort von dem, was wir gesagt haben. Mit Englisch ging es, mit viel Wohlwollen konnte man das als authentisch bezeichnen. Der dritte im Bunde rannte im Hoody, mit Basecap auf dem Kopf und dem Handy in der Hosentasche durch das Restaurant und übertraf sich dabei, das Essen der Gäste zu verwechseln und dieses von einem Tisch zum nächsten zu schleppen. Und wenn man als Gast noch das Getränk vor sich stehen hat, fängt man nicht an, mit einem nassen Lappen wie wild den Tisch abzuwischen. Zusammenfassen muss ich sagen, dass hier sehr viel Potential verschenkt wird. Die Küche hat was drauf, am Preisgefüge und am Service muss aber dringend was getan werden. Für uns war es der letzte Besuch in diesem Restaurant.

Wir mussten die Bestellung mehrmals ändern, weil die Gerichte "leider gerade aus" waren. Zudem war die Apfelschorle eher Apfelsaft, die Coke Zero abgestanden und das Weizen warm. Zwei Vorspeisen wurde vergessen. Die Bedienungen waren teils wirklich freundlich, teils aber auch recht holprig. Das Ambiente ist im vorderen Bereich durchaus nett, hinten wird allerdings schon viel Krimskrams gelagert. Kartenzahlung war möglich, aber damit kein Trinkgeld. Das Essen war durchaus gut, allerdings kam uns beim Lamm-Curry das Fleisch eher als Rindfleisch vor 🤔

Als das Essen kam, hatte man vergessen, was ich bestellt habe. Mein Partner bekam ein vegetarisches Curry mit afrikanischen Kartoffeln. Dies war ein klebriger Brei. Nachdem mein Essen kam, ein Rindsschmortopf, musste ich das Fleisch suchen. Die Sosse schmeckte nach Knorr Tütchen. Es war vollkommen überteuert und der Service katastrophal. Bei der Abrechnung wurde dann versucht, 2 mal das teure Essen zu kassieren. Nicht zu empfehlen.

Sehr gutes Essen, sehr nettes Personal, sehr schönes Ambiente mit traditioneller Gestaltung. War ein toller Abend dort und ich würde es jedem empfehlen, der mal gerne afrikanisch essen gehen möchte.

Das Essen und der Service waren sehr gut, das Peronal sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Auch das Ambiente ist sehr ansprechend. Es war ein wirklich schöner Abend für uns, wir können das Zambezi Springs nur empfehlen.

Sehr gemütliches Restaurant mit leckerer afrikanischer Küche! Wir waren sowohl von den Vorspeisen als auch von den Hauptgerichten überzeugt. Es waren sehr gute Portionen, sodass wir leider keine Kochbananen zum Nachtisch mehr geschafft haben. Sehr zu empfehlen, wenn man mal über seinen eigenen Tellerrand hinaus schauen möchte und etwas neues ausprobieren mag. Das afrikanische DjuDju Bier mit Banane ist übrigens ein echter Favorit unsererseits!

Beide Gerichte waren meeeega lecker und einfach mal was ganz anderes. Die Bedienung war sehr nett. Wir kommen gerne wieder, wennn wir mal wieder in Hannover sind!

Wir kommen sehr gerne und immer häufiger wegen des guten Essens zu Zambezi Springs. Alle Gerichte waren von der Vorspeise bis zum Dessert sehr authentisch, sowie man sie sich von einer wirklich guten afrikanischen Küche wünscht. Wir waren bis jetzt 2x im Restaurant Zambezi Springs und waren sehr zufrieden. Besonders gut hat uns das vegetarische Curry und als Nachspeise, die Kochbananen geschmeckt. Auch die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und hat uns sogar noch einen gratis Cocktail serviert. ☺️ Die Preise sind auch total in Ordnung! Wir werden sicher wiederkommen🙂

Ambiente war authentisch. Service geht so, es wurde bereits mit dem abräumen angefangen obwohl noch nicht alle aufgegessen hatten. Abgesehen davon waren sie nett und schnell. Essen - meine Freunde und ich können die guten Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Es ist erstens sehr wenig und zweitens schmeckt es nicht wirklich nach etwas besonderem. Ich hatte die Nr. 10. Es war letztendlich nur Reis mit Tomatensuppe, ein wenig (die Betonung liegt auf wenig) Fleisch in der Soße (Suppe) und ein kleiner Beilagensalat. Dafür dann ca. 20,- inkl. einem afrikanischem Bier. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist unserer Ansicht nach nicht angemessen und wir können das Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen und werden auch nicht wiederkommen.

Super Ambiente und die Speisen sind unglaublich lecker. Dafür, dass die Vorspeise 7€ gekostet hat, war zu wenig auf dem Teller (nur zwei Teigtaschen). Ich gebe trotzdem 5 Sterne, da das Essen geschmacklich super war und das Personal sehr freundlich ist. Es wird sogar Bier aus Afrika angeboten, das ist super.
