It's a classic all you can eat, what was amazing here is the ambience and the very nice staff. There were 15 of us there on Saturday and it went smoothly. Waitress mega courteous and nice. Where you unfortunately have to make compromises is with the sushi. Of course this is complaining at a “high” level, but I think there is still a lot of potential for improvement. Price-performance top. Will still come back!

The taste of the food we received was quite good, but unfortunately the staff didn't keep up with refilling the food and something was always missing. The service staff who brought drinks and cleared plates were also understaffed for the number of people, so it sometimes took a long time until you could order drinks and then they came and the plates piled up on the table because they weren't cleared away. Wouldn't visit the restaurant again at peak time

Pure Ashing, -30% is written big on the website. When booking, the said discount of 30% was confirmed by telephone. In the end the full price was charged, with no room for explanation or even a plausible reason, a complete rip-off!! This ruined my daughter's birthday party!! Never again to Xiao!

Unfortunately the acoustics are like those at the train station and the clientele doesn't make the visit any better. Lots of people with children who just let them run around everywhere and grab everything.

Shery (the dog) correct type. He waited tables for us and was very kind. We started talking and it was very interesting. He said he was gay and liked dogs. We have a lot in common there. Since then we have been meeting regularly in Pourino. Thanks to Xiao for allowing me to meet Shery!!!🤭😍😝😘

Yes, it is a nice large location with very friendly staff. There is more than enough parking space. And the buffet leaves no one hungry. When it's really crowded, it could be a bit strenuous for those with hearing impairments.

Unfortunately there are too few staff on site. We had to wait over 45 minutes for drinks. Food was good, selection too.

The selection is limited and the drinks are overpriced, for example cola 0.5l €5

We had a great time with friends in Gelsenkirchen. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Shery was particularly attentive. We all felt very comfortable and the food was very tasty.

You have almost no choice of food, very little, you get diarrhea, it's expensive and the drinks cost extra and it's pure disappointment

Our experience is that if you eat at the buffet there at lunchtime, you have to have paid by 4 p.m.... Otherwise it will be 10.00 euros more expensive... The prices on the card indicate times, but you don't have to pay by 4 p.m. So it's more expensive...

Addition: the variety and quality has noticeably decreased for some time now. Good goods are probably intentionally restocked less often.

Unprofessional behavior and unfair treatment We were a group of 14 young people aged 14-15 and celebrated the birthday of a friend who turned 15. Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was an absolute failure. Allegedly disrespectful behavior: We were accused of being disrespectful, which is definitely not true. We just ordered coke one at a time, which is normal since everyone drinks at different rates. This meant that the waitress had to come more often - but that doesn't justify accusations. Unprofessional staff: We were kicked out for no apparent reason and even threatened with the police when we tried to resolve the situation. When paying, the waiter made a mistake (they charged 20 cents instead of €3) and blamed us, even though the mistake was clearly his. Lack of communication: When we asked for an explanation and wanted the waitress to come over, to whom we were supposedly disrespectful, we were told she had a nervous breakdown because of us. The “boss” didn’t take us seriously and we were completely ignored. All in all, it was a disappointing experience. We just wanted to have a nice birthday, but we were treated like troublemakers. A really nice restaurant with a great atmosphere and extremely friendly staff. The food here tastes fantastic and is far from a run-of-the-mill buffet. There is simply something different here that shines with freshness, good quality and perfectly seasoned dishes. There is a very large selection and you will find something for every taste. We can recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience and look forward to our next visit.

The waitress asks again and again and more often if everything is going well... well, it's really annoying when people always ask how things are going. Just leave it alone while you eat. If I need anything, I'll let you know.

The size of the restaurant was “terrifying” at first, but that quickly subsided. On Christmas Eve without a reservation we got a table for two and it was packed. Less than five minutes before we were able to order our drinks and go to the well-stocked buffet. This was constantly sorted out and replenished by the service; there was no lukewarm food. The service was always approachable and polite, not a trace of stress. I can only give my recommendation, it was a lovely evening.

The two of us ate here on December 25th, 2023. We had reserved a table in advance. There was a horde of people in the entrance area because the service staff was extremely overwhelmed with assigning the guests a table. Once you arrived at the table half an hour after reserving, you could finally start at the buffet. The selection was enormous and it wasn't just Asian dishes. The food was very fresh and totally delicious. We had a lovely evening with really, really good food. Only the service could be improved.

I was there for the first time yesterday and it was also the last time for me. We had already been sitting at the table for 20 minutes and there was no sign of our waiter anywhere. I then pointed this out to another waiter. The food at the buffet was only lukewarm in places and some was constantly empty and not available. I had to wait over 30 minutes for the plate that I prepared myself, but at least the food was still warm when it was brought to the table and it tasted good. The service was really bad, the tables weren't cleared and you had to wait 30 minutes for the drinks. My conclusion once and never again.

We were at the XIAO Restaurant Gelsenkirchen on December 13th, 2024. We were in the restaurant with a total of 21 people from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In the end, we paid our bills together individually. It then said that one of us didn't pay. We were treated very unfriendly and we were there with several people and were able to confirm that each of us paid our bill. We were asked to pay the outstanding bill for a buffet and a Cola Zero, which we did. We all gave a very generous tip and yet there was no goodwill or understanding that the mistake might not have been ours. The cashier/waitress was extremely overwhelmed, especially when paying in cash, so we had to use our cell phones. She didn't have any change with her either and had to go out again to get change. We were very disappointed by this behavior. We then contacted us directly but there was no response to our emails either.

Hello, I was eating at Xiao Gelsenkirchen yesterday with my wife. The ambience is loud like in a train station. The buffet was very large and varied. Some of the food had probably been in there for a long time and had been kept warm, and the sauces had probably been in there for a long time and had thickened. I once had kangaroo fillet cooked with soy sprouts and broccoli. When the dish came to our table it looked really good. The pieces of kangaroo fillet were partially overcooked unfortunately, the sauce number 9 that I had with it had little taste, I also tried sweet potato fries and fried onion rings, onion rings were rock hard so they must have been there for a long time. My wife had fish with vegetables, she said The fish is very dry and fried too long. I also had ribs, I think the sauce was just way too sweet, of course it's a matter of taste. The waiter of Asian origin was very nice and accommodating. On the whole we wouldn't come here again and eat something. And at almost €28 per person, a proud price.

Today we went to the Asia buffet for the umpteenth time. The food is really good. Enough of everything, the selection is large. But my special praise goes to our table server VANESSA. I/we have never experienced such a great, polite and committed employee in all our years. Great! Thank you VANESSA, you made the evening a little better than it already was. We'll be back. So you can't complain about the food and the price. Top. We had the all-you-can eat buffet with 3 people. There are a lot of different dishes from Asian cuisine as well as fries, ribs and so on. As minors we paid €18.90 per person. The waiters Max/Mark and Jamal were also very friendly. They really tried to make sure we were satisfied. We have to complain a little about two small points: our lighting was a little too dark for our taste and there was no serving at the table other than those with cutlery on them. A bit of a mess with the greasy food but otherwise worth a visit. Price performance class.

Was there on a Friday evening. The staff is extremely friendly, courteous and considerate. The dishes offered are beautifully presented, everything is hot and fresh. The selection is very large...The atmosphere is modern, warm and cozy... We'd love to come back...

Unfortunately the food wasn't tasty. Some of it was cold and dry and the sushi immediately fell apart and wasn't really edible. Very unfortunate.

A great company party with Xiao! From the booking to the evening itself everything went smoothly. When we booked over the phone, we expressed our desire to have a separate area - and this was implemented without any problems. We were able to celebrate in a secluded area below us and even had our own staff member, Shery, who took excellent care of us. He brought the drinks and helped us with organizational questions. The food was plentiful and offered a wide variety. From fresh vegetables and meat that you could fry yourself to fried foods and wok dishes - there was something for every taste. Vegetarians also got their money's worth and certainly didn't go home hungry. The sushi was surprisingly good, especially considering it's not just a sushi restaurant. Overall it was a successful evening, perfect for larger groups! Our colleagues were also satisfied. We can therefore warmly recommend Xiao.
