It was a very pleasant evening at XIAO. The food was delicious, and our server, Sabina, was very friendly and attentive. We felt very comfortable, and I would gladly come back. Thank you.

Good, delicious, fresh food. Great location, spacious and clean. We celebrated a birthday there with 12 people. It went smoothly and was simply excellent. The waitress named Sabina (!?) was very friendly, attentive, and made our evening a special one.

You get a decent selection of prepared dishes, freshly cooked dishes, sushi, and various desserts for €24.90 👍 ✅ Large buffet selection ✅ Good value for money for both food and drinks ✅ Spacious, large, yet stylishly decorated restaurant. ✅ Clean restrooms ☑️ Unfortunately, we have to deduct one star because the freshly cooked dishes arrived rather lukewarm and the fish in the sushi was a bit "watery." A second visit and possibly a new review will follow. If you're really hungry, this is the place for you 🤠👍

At 8 p.m., the menu was replenished only slowly. Staff shortages were the excuse.

The buffet is truly fantastic—everything is fresh and attractively presented. I particularly like the wide selection: there are not only Asian but also many European dishes. A real highlight is that you can have fresh ingredients prepared to your liking—completely customized. The value for money is very good, and the ambiance is exceptionally stylish and cozy for a buffet restaurant. An all-round successful visit—we'd love to go back!

XIAO offers a large selection of different dishes that are always freshly prepared and replenished. The restaurant is beautifully designed and offers plenty of space both inside and outside on summer days. The cleanliness is top! A big compliment to the very helpful and attentive staff member Tian - I'm always happy to come by!

I loved the All You Can Eat at Xiao! The selection of food is huge and everything was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. I was particularly impressed by the sushi variations and the warm dishes. The ordering system ran smoothly, the staff was friendly and attentive. The only point of criticism: The toilets could definitely be cleaner - there is room for improvement here. Otherwise a great experience, I'll definitely come back!

Last year there were a lot more vegan options to choose from. The price of food for vegans is too expensive. I only ate some salads, boring sushi and fries there.

Have been here a lot now and also in other cities. It really is a gigantic buffet and definitely not the run-of-the-mill one you know from other Chinese buffets. Everything is without flavor enhancers and extremely tasty. There is also a creative sushi selection and a great Mongolian buffet. The 2 chocolate fountains topped it off in the end.

Was there for the first time today. From 4 p.m. there was a buffet with lots of delicious things, a few were lukewarm but it was also okay. It feels like you can find everything there, from sweet to spicy, or you can choose and prepare it yourself. Since this was our second time eating at XIAO and both times were fantastic, I would like to edit my review and describe my experience in more detail. Ambience: Very cozy, bright and lots of space. When I visited for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by this modern space. Eat: Nothing is missing here. There really is something for everyone. Everything I ate was well prepared and tasty. I also think it's brilliant to be able to put something together yourself and have it freshly prepared. The selection for dessert is particularly impressive, so I switched to the sweet dishes earlier on my second visit. Service: Service is probably XIAO Restaurant's greatest strength. Every employee who served us at the table had a super positive attitude. You could really tell that you really enjoy your job and want to give your guests a good time. The drinks arrived quickly, the used plates were quickly cleared away and my glass was never empty for more than 30 seconds without being noticed. Time was gladly taken for a short small talk or a recommendation. Despite the high pace, there was no sense of hecticness. I would recommend XIAO to anyone because of the service alone. It definitely won't be our last visit. Many thanks to every member of staff for the lovely evening!

I had the pleasure of visiting Xiao Restaurant and absolutely loved it. The food was extremely tasty and freshly prepared - a real treat for the palate. The service was also excellent: friendly, attentive and always striving to ensure guests had a pleasant stay. The decor of the restaurant was also attractive and created a cozy atmosphere. What is particularly positive is the cleanliness, especially in the toilet, which was in perfect condition. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant that I would like to visit again!

The food is delicious and the waitresses are also very friendly. Everyone is ahead of you and the restaurant is also a feast for the eyes.

Everything here is really great, and it's a really fair price. A real highlight is of course the chocolate fountain if you are as much of a chocolate lover as I am.

Today at Xaio and overall it was a really good experience. The selection at the buffet was very diverse: sushi, fried noodles, various meat dishes, vegetarian options and a great dessert station with ice cream, fresh fruit and small cakes. The food was fresh and flavorful, I particularly liked the crispy chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce. The sushi was also surprisingly good for a buffet - freshly prepared and attractively presented. The service was friendly and attentive, used plates were cleared away quickly and the drink order came quickly. Conclusion: If you are looking for a large selection of Asian food at a fair price, you are in good hands here. I'll definitely be back!

We've been there a few times, so I can say with certainty that the quality and availability of the dishes varies greatly. Unfortunately, the quality of "live cooking" in particular varies greatly... I've had absolutely inedible food several times, burnt and over-salted, my friend had the wrong food several times (ingredients he hadn't chosen, wrong sauce...). Sometimes, however, the shrimp were great and juicy... Overall, unfortunately difficult! In addition, sometimes certain things simply have not been replenished. Unfortunately, we didn't like the sushi and it's rarely refilled. But there is great salmon, delicious yuzu potatoes and also a very rich salad bar. Overall, the buffet is still worth it for the money, especially the selection of desserts is better than in most buffet restaurants (fresh fruit with warm chocolate🤩). The atmosphere is super nice, it's big and bright, the toilets were always clean and the service was always nice.

Unfortunately, the food was very bad, the raw beef was brown in places, the fruit was hard, the sushi was dry, the churros were just fried fat without dough. We had very nice service and when asked we said we wouldn't be coming back. Unfortunately, many guests said that today and were not satisfied. Maybe we just had a bad day. But today was very disappointing. Otherwise wonderful atmosphere, very stylish shop, nice service staff.

The xiao in Essen impresses at first glance with its modern, elegant furnishings. The room is spacious, appeared very well maintained and stylish - an ambience that makes you want to spend a special evening. Unfortunately the buffet couldn't quite keep up. The selection was rather limited, and the sushi was particularly disappointing: it seemed dry and tasted as if it had not been freshly prepared for a long time. The rest of the food was just “well” – nothing that really impressed me. Conclusion: If you are looking for a nice location, this is the right place, but there are much better culinary alternatives in Essen. Maybe it's worth a visit just for drinks or the atmosphere - but for a quality buffet experience I'd go elsewhere.

I can only recommend it here. The waiter who served us was super friendly and the whole experience was great. The toilets are super clean and I'm very pleased that the restaurant also pays attention to food waste. My heart really opened and I hope to get there again soon!

I'm actually not a fan of all you can eat restaurants. But I have to say I would be pleasantly surprised. We had dinner here during the weekday evening. It was relatively empty. Because small areas are separated everywhere, you don't realize how big this restaurant is and the background noise is very pleasant. The food is very varied and there is something for every taste. Due to the fact that Asian cuisine is offered here, I find the spare ribs, the baked potatoes, etc. a bit out of place, but apart from this small exception it is very varied and well balanced. Everything is also labeled so that, for example, as a vegetarian you don't have to guess whether you can eat something or not. Unfortunately, service sometimes took a long time to arrive, but that was more due to the fact that there were few staff responsible for a large number of guests. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Overall, a very positive experience and I will definitely eat here again.

It's a shame, because here too the service reaches its limits: refilling and cleaning. The food is varied and very tasty. Everything is beautifully presented and easy to serve. It's clear. From starters, salads, soups, a large selection of main courses, sushi, to a larger selection of desserts, everything is there. I think the prices are justified. Tables are well arranged. Clean. If it's not full, I'd love to go there again. Above all, you should be very hungry and have plenty of time to be able to eat in peace. There is only limited parking space at the restaurant. Great restaurant with an all-you-can-eat buffet. We were there for lunch; it was very good value for money and the service was very attentive.

My wife and I were there for lunch on March 26, 2025. We received a friendly welcome and found plenty of free seats. We preferred a window seat. The drinks arrived quickly. We wanted to enjoy the buffet. Unfortunately, not all of the dishes were warm. Some bowls only contained vegetables instead of the meat listed. The variety we're used to from other buffet restaurants was also lacking. The €14.90 per person was reasonable, but the drink prices were all the higher: Coca-Cola - €14.50 per liter; draft pilsner - €12.25 per liter. These are higher prices than in other restaurants, and unfortunately, alcoholic beverages were once again favored! - We won't be visiting this restaurant again. -

The food doesn't taste good, try it once and no more

Especially during the week, the buffet for €14.90 is simply unbeatable; the sushi alone is worth it. Otherwise, there's a very good selection of vegetables and meat, though I'm a bit lacking in vegan options. Otherwise, the decor is nice, the staff is friendly, and the food is very tasty.
