The service is first class, very attentive and friendly. The ambience was very successful for such a large restaurant. You can order your own drinks using a QR code, the food is really tasty and the selection at the buffet is great. We come regularly and are always satisfied. There is a large parking lot.

Saturday night, absolutely terrible acoustics. The staff are very nice, but that's about it. The food wasn't particularly excellent, absolutely standard food, not particularly warm and the quality of the meat wasn't good. The chocolate fountain stopped running after 8 p.m. Been there once and never go back again. The price of €29 is not justified.

Were here for the first time and I have to say we were totally thrilled!! The experience buffet lives up to its name. There are such great dishes to choose from. Sushi and salad buffet. Everything is appetizingly prepared. The dessert buffet with 2 chocolate fountains is also an absolute highlight!! The ambience is upscale and cozy with velvet chairs and great outdoor lounges. The staff is friendly and hardworking. We'll definitely be back. If you like Asian food like we do, you will feel very comfortable here!!

Hello. Overall the buffet was okay. But tastes are always different. Buffet per person €28.90. Normal to high price these days. Service friendly. What is not possible is that when you pay by card you are automatically told how much tip you should give. 3 variants: 8, 10 or 15 percent of the total price. Simply click automatically. Don't decide your own tip. Only went when asked. I've never experienced anything like that before. I also find it disgraceful. Everyone should be happy to receive tips for good and friendly work, but please do so independently.

Very good Asian food in a modern and stylish environment, top service! The outside area was quite loud due to the adjacent main street, the inside area was well insulated for its size and therefore pleasantly quiet. Dishes are consistently fresh and noticeably prepared without glutamate (intolerance!) and are therefore more intensely seasoned. The selection was very large, and you can also have your own creations prepared on the grill without drowning everything in sauces. We'll definitely be back!

Was nice, quiet and delicious. The food selection wasn't that great / mmn. too little. The price is €29 - drinks are not included and are not cheap. If you're looking for value for money, you've come to the wrong place. Paradise in Bochum offers more (but it is very loud and too crowded)

We booked a table for 8 people on a Friday evening at 6 p.m. There was plenty of free parking available at that time. We were welcomed very friendly and shown to the table. There was a particular waiter in charge of us that evening who we all found to be extremely friendly, funny and considerate. The drinks were quickly consumed and we were able to go straight to the buffet. I've already been to 2 other stores "XIAO" and because of my experiences there I never wanted to visit a restaurant with that name again. But here in Essen I was taught otherwise. It was very clean and tidy, including the buffet. Here, care was taken to ensure that the food that fell onto the next plate when scooping up was also wiped away. Cleanliness is very important to me and I was very happy about it. All the staff were very nice. The toilets can be reached via a wide but multi-step staircase. However, I think there is a disabled toilet in the lower area - if necessary, please clarify in advance. It is important to know that the restaurant closes at 10 p.m., at least on Fridays. Here we were also informed about it in an extremely friendly manner. Note: The crispy chicken (breaded) from the buffet is not crispy because it is not sufficiently fried and is relatively light in color from the breading. I think that's a shame because it's my favorite food. Unfortunately, I've noticed this in the other Xiao restaurants too. Maybe you could make this a little crispier. I hope that everything I have highlighted here stays that way or becomes even better. All in all, I was very satisfied with my first visit here. Many thanks to the great Xiao team in Essen and continued success.

I spontaneously go out in the evening and it's really nice in itself. Unfortunately, around 8 p.m. it got so crowded that it became very loud and it was almost impossible to have a conversation. Selection is good but I expected more. Pasta and shrimp were the biggest disappointment for me. Noodles just tasted like oil and shrimp had nothing special about it except for too much chili. Many dishes were also too dry, but that's often the case at buffets. Otherwise everything else was good. Lots of fruit, lots of sweets. Something for everyone.

When you arrived there you immediately felt at home. The service is super friendly and the food is even better. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who lives in Essen or is visiting there.

I had dinner there with my family on Friday evening, it was great as always. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The buffet is constantly being replenished. The food is very diverse and tasty and far higher quality than comparable buffet restaurants.

Where should I start? Everything advertised on the website they don't comply with. Waiting 15 minutes for a drink. Everything is frozen and pre-cooked, and sushi... well, a Japanese person would kill you for it. For the hot dishes, they use pre-cooked chicken from the freezer, which is then poured over with a sauce. The cold dishes are full of flies. When we arrived the sushi bar...well, something that looked like a sushi bar was a big mess, and after 40 minutes it was still empty.All the ingredients for the wok/grill are frozen or dried out. After that you have to wait another 30 minutes or more for the dishes to be delivered. We wanted to leave after a drink and a round, but we didn't get any compensation. It's so bad and unhygienic that I have to file a complaint with the German authorities .Be warned and do not go here!

Prices: upper medium Meals: a soup, no longer hot, most dishes almost empty, beef only large onions but no meat (for 2 hours), the fish was frozen in the ice, waiting time at the food stall 25 minutes. Really great sushi bar, Great dessert selection, Overall, a positive experience that could be repeated! Repeat: all dishes fresh, hot and refilled. Food stall, long queue, still waiting 20 minutes, the chef should do some further training. Drink bottles without glasses??? ("That was complaining at the highest level")

As always, it was very nice and recommended. The staff is very accommodating and regularly ask whether everything is still ok or whether they can bring anything else without being intrusive. We would love to come back and preferably with friends in tow 😉

Wild selection. Not everything met my personal taste, but whatever found its way onto my plate tasted fresh. Fresh food was regularly delivered and in relatively small portions. So the food can't stand out BUT everything was always there.

Anyone who didn't like Xiao's because of the mediocre food, the train station atmosphere, the mostly unsympathetic staff and the unreasonably high prices may not be surprised why more than 90% of the reviews give it 5 or 4 stars. Reads reviews. Anyone who only rates 3 stars or less will be kicked out on the grounds of “defamation”. Fine company!!! Word of mouth also serves its purpose, duh.

Sorry. Horrible. Reservation for 7:15 p.m. - and the view of a "eaten" buffet for just under 30 euros. Anyone who tries to find something clever as a vegetarian can really despair. The crew is good, even charming - but hopelessly overwhelmed. Savings are made everywhere in favor of an “all-you-can-eat” experience that no one needs. Too bad. It's a real shame... this has nothing to do with healthy Asian food. There is a lack of care, quality and hygiene. E.g. Frozen meat, false labeling, really dirty toilets... Guys, it doesn't work that way. Not even when it's rush hour. Once and never again.

I've eaten here for the second time and it seems that austerity measures are now being taken here. Iced tea is now served without a drinking straw, fried noodles consist largely of mongo bean sprouts and the beef with onions also had more onions than meat... In general, there was a fairly long wait to refill the buffet.

Our visit was on Saturday at 8 p.m. Price performance is appropriate. Buffets are more for connoisseurs with larger appetites anyway. So it was very worthwhile for the four of us to dine here. There are also sufficient parking spaces on site. We would be happy to come back, highly recommended.

I was there because I was looking for an alternative to Oberhausen. But unfortunately just as catastrophic or even worse. I rated Xiao Oberhausen with 2 stars 2 years ago, which was also commented on by the management. Now this week my objectively written review (I was a cook and head chef for 25 years) was reported to Google for alleged defamation and deleted. From what I read here, it seems to have a system and wasn't the only negative review. It's strange that there are almost only positive reviews at once. A rogue who thinks evil, but money rules the world. Let's see how long this review can last here.

Got a table spontaneously. Fried rice has a weird mix of spices. Shrimp etc. were not refilled for 40 minutes. Service very nice and attentive.

The dishes on offer were mostly empty, all the meat on the WOK was gone, and nothing would be refilled within half an hour. The tables are not cleared. This was the second time here in Essen and the second time was a failure. There's no way we're going to try it again.
