Leider stimmen die Öffnungszeiten nicht. Sonntags ab 12 Uhr geöffnet laut Website und auch an der Tafel neben der Tür. Um 16.30 immer noch geschlossen und auch keine Info über Urlaub oder ähnliches

Ich war zum zweiten mal im Restaurant Wundertüte und war wieder absolut begeistert. Sehr schönes Restaurant und sehr lecker, über alle Gänge hinweg. Sehr freundlicher Service. Auch extra Wünscve werdenerfüllt. Absolut empfehlenswert, wir kommen wieder 😀.

Wir hatten einen wirklich schönen und launigen Abend in der Wundertüte. Beim Essen besteht zwar noch ein wenig Luft nach oben, das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist aber völlig in Ordnung. Der Service überzeugte in allen Belangen; vielen Dank insbesondere an Jana und Ben! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren gestern abend (6. Mai) zu viert erstmals in diesem gemütlichen Restaurant - auf Empfehlung eines befreundeten Kochs. Fazit: Das war eine sehr gute Empfehlung! Bei Leber, Schwarzfederhuhn, auch veganen Gerichten (alles ausgezeichnet!), wohlschmeckenden Desserts und durchweg angenehmer Weinbegleitung ließen wir es uns gut gehen. Der sehr nette und immer umsichtige Service (Ben und seine "Schwester" Jana ;-)) tat ein Übriges. Da werden wir wohl demnächst wiederkommen müssen...;-) Vielen Dank für einen gelungenen Abend!

Ein Geschmackserlebnis was ich für diese Ecke Essens nicht erwartet hätte. Jeden Euro Wert. Da muss man nicht nach Düsseldorf.

Essen sehr gut, Ambiente auch. Tolles nettes Personal. P/L passt im großen und ganzen, bis auf eine Vorspeise, wo es nicht stimmte. Die war leider etwas enttäuschend. Aber wir kommen trotzdem gerne wieder.

Wir hatten einen rundum gelungenen Abend im Restaurant Wundertüte in Essen. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir den Service: Jana hat uns mit ihrer aufmerksamen und herzlichen Art wirklich begeistert. Sie war stets präsent, ohne aufdringlich zu sein, und hat uns unsere Wünsche quasi von den Augen abgelesen. So ein engagierter Service ist heute keine Selbstverständlichkeit mehr – umso schöner, wenn man ihn erleben darf. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Das Wundertüte hat mich wirklich begeistert. Das Essen war auf einem außergewöhnlich hohen Niveau – besonders das gebeizte Kalbsfilet hat mich umgehauen. Zartes Fleisch, perfekt abgestimmt, einfach ein Gedicht. Was das Erlebnis noch abgerundet hat: die Weinbegleitung. Jeder Gang wurde stimmig begleitet, man merkt, dass hier jemand wirklich Ahnung und Leidenschaft mitbringt. Aber nicht nur die Küche überzeugt – auch das Personal war einfach top. Herzlich, aufmerksam und mit echter Freude dabei. Man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an willkommen. Dem Koch gebührt ein besonderes Kompliment: was hier auf den Teller kommt, ist handwerklich und kreativ auf höchstem Niveau. Wer gutes Essen zu schätzen weiß, ist hier genau richtig. Ich komme definitiv wieder. Vielen lieben Dank.

Wir waren zu sechs Personen und haben das Ambiente, den Service und die Speisen sowie die verschiedenen Weine sehr genossen. Die Speisenauswahl war sehr fein und jedes der Gerichte hatte einen besondere kulinarischen Pfiff und hat mir persönlich Anregung für die heimische Küche geliefert!

Waren zu einem Event mit Björn Freitag vor Ort. Haben für den Abend 135,-€ für ein 5 Gang Menü mit Wasser, Kaffee und begleitenden Weinen gezahlt. Sehr gutes essen , mit Show . Alles o.k. . Nur beim Service fühlte ich mich etwas vernachlässigt. Während am Nachbartisch die Weingläser jeweils gut zu einem drittel gefüllt wurden, auch beim nachschenken, war bei uns jeweils lediglich der Boden bedeckt. Schade . Neues Wasser auf Nachfrage, Kaffe auf Nachfrage. Für den Preis hätte auch beim Service mehr gehen können.

Wir waren zu unserem Jahrestag zum ersten Mal in der Wundertüte und hatten ein sehr schönen Abend mit richtig gutem Essen und einer sehr sympathischen Bedingungen. Die Weinauswahl hat auch gut gepasst und einer der Weine hat uns an das Kona Hanalei Bier erinnert und uns zurück in den Urlaub versetzt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Haben heute hier eine sehr gutes Essen incl. Wein genossen. Die Vorspeisenvariation war ein Gedicht und die Kalbsleber hervorragend. Die Speisekarte ist klein aber dafür ist jedes Gericht empfehlenswert. Der Service ist aufmerksam, nicht aufdringlich und gibt die Richtige Weinempfehlung zum gewählten Gericht. Wir fühlen uns hier sehr wohl und kommen gerne wieder.

Ich war begeistert vom Schnitzel!

Meine Schwester hat hier ihre Firmung mit einem 4 Gang Menü gefeiert. Das Essen war ne 10/10. Das gesamte Menü ist sehr kreativ zusammengestellt gewesen. Meine Highlights waren das Thunfisch Tataki und das selbstgebackene Sauerteigbrot.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal in der Wundertüte. Zwar hatten wir kein Menü bestellt, aber die drei Gänge, die wir gewählt haben, waren geschmacklich hervorragend. Zur Vorspeise und zum Hauptgericht gab es jeweils 2 Weine ohne sie zu benennen. Sie passten beide sehr gut, aber sind sehr unterschiedlich. Nur wenn man beide vergleicht, erkennt man wie unterschiedlich die Weine auf das Essen wirken. Tolles Konzept.

Ein tolles kleines Restaurant. Wir (1 junges Paar) haben uns unglaublich wohl gefühlt. Wir haben sehr lecker gegessen und uns für 2 Weine pro Gericht entschieden. Nach dem Esssen würde aufgelöst welche Weine wir getrunken haben. Das Essen war genial. Es ist schon etwas gehobener aber eine sehr gute Qualität und schönes Ambiente. Im Rahmen einer Familienfeier besuchten wir das Restaurant mit insgesamt zehn Personen. Die Atmosphäre war angenehm und bot den idealen Rahmen für unser Zusammensein. Jeder fühlte sich sofort willkommen, sodass wir unsere Feier in entspannter Umgebung genießen konnten. Die Auswahl des 4-Gänge-Menüs erfolgte gemeinsam mit dem Koch. Wir waren zum Restaurant Karussell hier. Das Essen war gut, die Weinbegleitung sehr gut. Das Preis- Leitungsverhältnis stimmt.

Geheimtipp Super lecker und schöne Ambiente in einem Gegend wo man so einen klasse Restaurant nicht erwarten würde. Ab gesehen vom super leckeren Essen, hat dieses Restaurant etwas besonderes. Es gibt keine große Weinkarte. Der Chef kommt persönlich mit Glas und Flasche vorbei die er empfehlt und man probieren kann. Einen Konzept die wir so nicht kannten und uns sehr gefallen hat. Besonders anmerken möchte ich der junge Mann der uns bedient hat. Einen Beispiel für seine Generation das es auch engagierte freundliche Service orientierte junge Menschen gibt. Nochmal danke hierfür. Fazit wir kommen wieder!!!

Ein Tipp von Freunden und die Neugier auf das Karusselmenue hat uns in die Wundertüte geführt. Zugegeben, wir waren ein wenig skeptisch, aber die Überraschung war umso größer. Geschmackvoll gestalteter Innenraum, genug Platz an den Tischen, ruhige Atmosphäre selbst mit vielen Gästen, leise Musik im Hintergrund, ein sehr aufmerksamer Service, das war schonmal ein guter Einstieg. Das Menü mit 4 Gängen einschließlich ungewöhnlicher Weine jenseits der üblichen Chardonnay Langeweile , da waren wir gespannt. Unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen. Präsentation, Vielfalt und Geschmack , sehr gut! So lecker daß auch noch ein kleinwenig mehr gepasst hätte. Bitte etzt nicht alle in die Wundertüte stürmen. Wir planen schon unseren nächsten Besuch und wollen schließlich noch einen Tisch bekommen ;-)

Wir waren im Rahmen des Menükarussells hier und hatten ein 4-Gänge-Menü inklusive Weinbegleitung. Jeder Gang war super lecker und sehr schön angerichtet, die Weine haben gut dazu gepasst. Besonders spannend fanden wir, dass zwischen dem Zwischen- und dem Hauptgang jeweils zwei Weine zum Probieren serviert wurden. Erst am Ende des Ganges wurde verraten, um welche Traube bzw. welchen Wein es sich handelte – eine tolle Idee, um den Geschmack ganz unvoreingenommen wahrzunehmen. Abgerundet wurde der Abend durch einen erstklassigen Service: aufmerksam, herzlich und dennoch angenehm unaufdringlich. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und können das Restaurant definitiv weiterempfehlen! Danke für den tollen Abend 😊

Diese Etablissement bietet auf der einen Seite neben einem hervorragenden Service, auch leckeres Essen und eine angenehm ruhige Stimmung beim Essen an. Es ist sehr gut auf verschiedensten Wegen erreichbar und ist einen Besuch auf jedenfall mal wert.

Die Getränkepreise haben sich leider etwas negativ entwickelt und halten aus meiner Sicht nicht mehr mit der Qualität mit. Die Preise des Essen passen noch. Der Service ist überwiegend sehr nett und nahbar.

I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and was absolutely thrilled! The menu is concise and sophisticated. The service was exceptionally good; you hardly ever see that these days, unfortunately... I will definitely go back and have already told everyone I know about this newfound gem!

Friendly service, great food, and a lovely place to enjoy wine. We were a party of four for dinner and were thoroughly impressed. While there's certainly room for improvement in some areas of service, food, and advice, the friendly service more than makes up for it. I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. The wine selection, in particular, is very interesting and something I haven't encountered in any other restaurant before. We will definitely be back.

We visited the Karussell restaurant in the Wundertüte complex. Every visit is a culinary highlight. An absolute gem in the neighborhood! We received a warm welcome upon arrival and were attentively and expertly looked after throughout the evening. The wonderful wine recommendations, perfectly paired with each course, deserve special mention. The food was sophisticated, creatively prepared, and of the highest quality; each dish was a small work of art. The value for money is also more than convincing: top quality at fair prices. For us, it's clearly the best restaurant in the area. We'll definitely be back!

Young, very friendly, attentive service. Good atmosphere, you feel a bit like you're at home. Food, nothing to complain about. Portions are okay, taste is okay. Nicely presented. There are always a few small things that could be improved, but nothing worth mentioning.

We went to the Restaurantkarussel at the Wundertüte a while ago, and it was one of our favorite restaurant experiences in Essen so far. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were continuously impressed. The service, the food, and especially the wine were all excellent. The staff is very charming and helpful. The dishes were perfectly matched to the wines. We had a great time and will definitely be back soon.

The welcome from the kitchen was also extremely tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. This certainly won't be our last visit, and we'll continue to try the menu, which is quite sophisticated for this area. Thanks for the lovely evening.

Six of us went there for dinner on Wednesday. Four of us arrived late due to traffic. Nevertheless, we were warmly welcomed with the words, "We have time and hope you do too." Five people had already ordered the Autumn Carousel menu. I was the only one who ordered from the menu that evening. All my questions and requests were answered in a friendly manner, and the staff also offered suggestions. I can only say that I felt very appreciated and cared for throughout the evening. I would like to thank you again for that. Everyone else also had their requests and questions answered and fulfilled in the same way. The food was very, very delicious. The menu alternated between unusual combinations and, I'll say, familiar dishes, like the currywurst (the smell of which filled the entire table). The homemade elderflower lemonade was delicious. To finish, I had a scoop of poppy seed ice cream, which I highly recommend. So, thank you for the lovely evening, the delicious food, and your exceptional friendliness.

We visited Wundertüte for the first time tonight and will definitely be back. The food was excellent, the service attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere warm and cozy. We felt very comfortable!

We visited the Wundertüte for the first time on a recommendation and were delighted. Extremely friendly and natural service. You immediately feel welcome. Tasteful decor without being overly decorative. The welcome from the kitchen: homemade bread with a delicious nut butter. The appetizer, main course, and dessert were perfect. Very good value for money. We'll be back, even though it's a bit of a longer drive from Dortmund. We'd been to Grugapark before, and the Folkwang Museum would also have been worth a visit. You don't find such a nice place very often in the Ruhr area anymore. Thank you very much. A definite recommendation.

The "Daube de Boef" is the best I've ever eaten. And now they're also collaborating with the Karussell restaurant. If you can, go there. Sensational food, fantastic ambiance, and friendly people. Very friendly and attentive staff. The atmosphere is very nice, especially funny that you can play bowls in the courtyard while you wait for your food. And that was unfortunately the weak point. My meal (schnitzel with fried potatoes) was unfortunately over-fried and sticky. But maybe my girlfriend and I were just unlucky today, because the majority of the reviews are positive. We were a large group, after all.

We celebrated a birthday. It was PERFECT. Wonderfully creative drinks, even non-alcoholic ones. Homemade violet lemonade was a delight 😍🥳🥂, and at the buffet: currywurst, also vegan, with a fabulous sauce. The staff were attentive and friendly without being intrusive. You couldn't ask for more. Definitely worth a visit.

I've been to the Wundertüte several times – with friends and alone. Each time, I'm immersed in a world of friendly, light sounds and a sophisticated, bright ambiance. No matter what I ordered, it was wonderfully delicious and harmonious! There must be a superb chef and a lovingly thought-out concept behind it! My favorite wine with most dishes is your Chibet Voignier! I always leave feeling delighted and exhilarated. Many thanks to everyone involved!

I was here for the first time today and would love to come back. The ambiance is classic, understated, and elegant. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The service is excellent, very friendly, and very professional. My requests were met. I highly recommend the four-course menu; it's a very nice, delicious selection for anyone who can't decide or wants to be surprised. Don't be put off by the facade and the sign above the door; they don't quite match the interior. :)

Update June 2025: Last week, we were privileged to enjoy a unique Italian evening with a table of 10 people at the "Wundertüte" restaurant. We've never experienced the concept of sitting with a group of people around a long table, eating, laughing, and tasting food, and we would like to declare this project an "absolute success"! In addition to the excellent food and the lovingly selected wines (each of the four courses was accompanied by two tastings of wine, allowing us to discuss which one would best complement each menu), both the staff and the guests at the Wundertüte are simply sensational. After a long and very enjoyable evening, we've already made plans to meet again. For us, the Wundertüte, with its innovative concept and wonderfully intimate atmosphere, has now become like coming home... with an excellent, creative chef, who also deserves a special mention. Definitely too expensive for the quality of the food.

We enjoyed going there often. The food was always delicious. Special requests were always accommodated, we were there with our children, and we were always able to order variations from the children's menu. Now the image seems to be changing: the children's menu has been abolished, special requests were no longer possible; they were simply supposed to order a dish from the regular menu and share... Unfortunately, these sophisticated dishes simply don't suit the children's preferences, and they wouldn't have been able to eat anything except fries, so we left empty-handed... We had the impression that children were no longer welcome—otherwise, why would they abolish the children's menu? So, it's more suitable for adults only.

Absolute recommendation. Very tasty and lovingly prepared dishes in a beautiful atmosphere.

It looks inconspicuous from the outside...a friendly atmosphere and welcome. Recommendation for the aperitif CLASS. Starter - GREAT. Roasted asparagus with mango bruchetta and truffle parmesan with 15 year old balsamic vinegar. Attentive service...we feel looked after. The main course - FANTASTIC. Braised lamb rump, tender as butter and with a Champions League flavor with sweet potato puree and beans. Then a dessert and always suitable drink recommendations. All around 2 exceptional hours - with fantastic food. We can recommend the miracle bag without reservation and with pleasure. It's worth it. 15 out of 10 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟

Small, fine restaurant. Looks rather inconspicuous from the outside. Went here for something to eat while working and had a nice private environment. Really comfortable. The food is very tasty and fresh! (I had potato soup, schnitzel with fried potatoes and ice cream with popcorn). Not too much choice, so that really fresh food is on the table. Separate weekly/seasonal offers are available. The prices are perfectly fine. From around €5 upwards. The service was friendly and not too intrusive. In total we were there for almost 6 hours 😃

Very good. Unfortunately, the three-course menu with wine pairing wasn't available. Excellent food. Nice and bright decor. Unfortunately, the location is a bit out of the way.

The contrast between the location and external appearance and the standards in service and cuisine could hardly be greater. Very attractive! However, the kitchen did not fully fulfill its promise: the fresh Sicilian-style tagliatelle was clearly lacking in lemony freshness and herbal tartness (- ⭐️). It's also a shame that the greeting from the kitchen, rejected due to an intolerance to an ingredient, was not substituted. On top of that, the portions seemed quite manageable overall. The service was friendly, although the staff changed - someone else was always at the table asking questions or bringing something. Despite the size of the place, there is a feeling of confinement. Advance reservation is strongly recommended, perhaps even mandatory.

The highlight in the north of Essen - the WUNDERTÜTE in the Bochold district! Cozy, very tasty, (child-)friendly, subtle music in the background - everything your heart desires for a nice, relaxed evening! Compliments to the operators for the courage and commitment to invest here.

A very cozy restaurant. Food was great and the staff was very nice.

First-class restaurant in all categories: food, service, style, cleanliness and you can eat here pretty cheaply. What makes this restaurant very unique is that there are regularly interesting events here, such as wine tasting or "long tables", where people from the neighborhood can come together and get to know each other. Kudos to the restaurant owners who put a lot of effort and heart into these projects!

It was our first time in the lucky bag. The restaurant is attractive from the outside. Clean, tidy and well maintained inside. Friendly and very attentive staff as well as a good selection of food and drinks. Important: it tasted really good 👍. Our conclusion: we would love to come back 😃

Since you can only post one review, I copied the first one from eleven months ago and added it at the back. At that time we were already excited, had "only" eaten a currywurst, and planned to order something more sophisticated next time, which we did today. We were there very early and were greeted warmly at the entrance. We then ordered French duck and ox cheeks. In short: a poem. We have now decided to eat here once a month if possible. First review: My wife and I went on a short bike ride because of the nice weather, but it was still very cold. Frozen, I say to her: let's eat a "Manta Platter", I discovered a new shop: the "Wundertüte". Now let's be honest, can you cook a currywurst to a star level? Boh eh, luckily there were two slices of baguette so we could scrape the last drop of sauce out of the bowl. I just say: awesome! Next time we come, we'll order something more sophisticated from the menu. The ambience and service are not outstanding in relation to the unusual cuisine. You just feel good. Keep it up, we wish you all the best.
