It looks very nice, but drinks are very expensive and the food is nothing special. Main course was served while eating the starter. The wind blows cold in the front part of the restaurant, but the staff are not allowed to close the door to attract new customers. In short, not recommended!

It looks very cozy from the outside, but also cozy on the inside, although cold. The food is not great, schnitzel was disappointing, fries were not tasty. We were still eating the starter, then the main course arrived, which was not nice. The drinks made it very expensive, which really shocked us, 6 euros for a coke and almost 10 euros for a beer. I would look further before eating there.

Nice ambience and nice service. The schnitzel is not fresh, finished product from the deep fryer. If you like ready-made meals, this is the place for you. 3 restaurants next to each other that all belong together because they have the same cuisine. This was the last visit for us.

Overpriced cheap frozen food that was served floating in deep fryer fat. The cucumber salad was oversalted, very dill heavy and ice cold. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. The view of the Moselle is nice, but it doesn't make the food any better. The local winemakers can recommend good restaurants, but we were subsequently advised against Bagpipes and other restaurants run by the same operator.

Wij hebben er met 15 personen gegeten, kregen niet allemaal tegelijk ons eten. Wij hebben hierna gevraagd en als antwoord kregen wij ee grote mond door de serveerster. Toen de rest van de familie het eten kreeg werd en nog een valse opmerking gemaakt. Het eten was wisselend, een deel kreeg lekker eten, een deel was lauw maar ook te hard gebakken schnitzel. Drinken is erg duur.

We had a great experience, food was tasty, generous portions, hot and served quickly. We had a delightful waitron. Only downside was the Apperol Spritz which did not meet Milan's Spritz standard but I should have just ordered a beer - my fault. Thank you for your hospitality!

They will never see me there again! The food was cold and not tasty, they brought us food and we had no cutlery, we ordered cucumber salads and they were forgotten! When our main course was almost finished, they only brought the salads, a small bowl cost €5.90 for 7 slices of cucumber, a real shame! The owner should really be ashamed!

The food was a complete disaster. We ordered schnitzel and 2 starters, one starter tasted musty and the second starter came after we got the main course. There was a thick black hair in one of the schnitzels, and overall everything was almost cold and carelessly slapped onto the plate. After our complaint, we only had to pay for the drinks without any apology. Afterwards we only had to pay for the cheap wine and the cheap no-name water (the bottle cost a whopping 10 euros) and we ended up with 41 euros. It is incomprehensible that this very nice restaurant is being driven into the wall by simply selling disgusting food.

Apart from the beautiful ambience and the view of the Moselle, we unfortunately cannot give this restaurant a good rating. The schnitzel week was advertised at €12.90 per schnitzel. When I look at the menu, I notice that a normal schnitzel costs a minimum of €15.90. The food was only lukewarm and didn't taste good at all. The staff, on the other hand, was super friendly and quick. Even the staff confirmed that some guests had already complained about the bad food. But the chef doesn't seem to care. It was the first and last time we visited this restaurant. And the overpriced prices are simply an absolute disgrace for this quality.

So looking forward to a schnitzel, but we came home from a literal rude awakening. After waiting half an hour, a cold flammkuche was placed on the table as a starter. People around us had already walked away angry because it took so long. The main course was also sent back next to us because it was cold. We didn't wait for our main course and left again. When leaving, ask €24 for three drinks and old baguette. The entire bar was literally full of dishes that had been returned by other guests! Please, take all the bad reviews and mine to heart and NEVER eat here!

The food didn't even deserve one star. We really can't recommend it. Aioli with bread. Aioli tasted terrible and bread was old and like rubber. Our schnitzels were extremely thin, as was the sauce and the fries were cold. Prices different than stated outside. The outrageousness, the prices for the drinks. An incredible €7.90 for 0.4 liters of wheat beer. Never again. We saved photos.

If there were zero stars, I would give them. The food was cold, the Käsepätzle was cold spaghetti with a slice of cheese. The food was way too expensive and really not edible. One star goes to the nice service, who couldn't do anything about the food and can only make you feel sorry for them.

Zo verheugd op een schnitzel, maar we kwamen van een letterlijke koude kermis thuis. Na een half uur wachten werd als voorgerecht een koude flammkuche op tafel neergezet. Om ons heen waren al mensen boos weggelopen, omdat het zo lang duurde. Ook werd naast ons het hoofdgerecht teruggestuurd, omdat het koud was. We hebben niet ons op ons hoofdgerecht gewacht en zijn weer vertrokken. Bij het weggaan nog wel even €24 vragen voor drie drankjes en oud stokbrood. De hele bar stond werkelijk vol met gerechten die waren teruggestuurd door andere gasten! Alsjeblieft, neem alle slechte reviews en die van mij ter harte en ga hier NOOIT eten!

Getränke sehr teuer. Empfehlung: Karte lesen... Kurz überlegen....dann der Bedienung sagen warum man wieder geht.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. The only bright spot is the view of the Moselle. The staff was unfriendly and didn't look after us well; even when I asked for a straw I didn't get one. I also had to get the ketchup myself. The prices are overpriced for the small portions, which also didn't taste good. 7€ for a small glass of apple juice, that's incredible. Overall a disappointing experience.

Despite the many bad reviews, I stopped by the bagpipes for lunch today. Schnitzel dishes are advertised in front of the restaurant for €11.90. After a quick look at the menu, I realized that the normal schnitzel costs €14.90. The friendly waiter quickly took my order and first brought me a large cola for a whopping €6.90. I don't want to accuse the operator of anything, but I'm sure I was served a stale discount Coke. Shortly later the pepper schnitzel with fries was served. In addition, the waiter brought a bottle of mayonnaise and a bottle of ketchup (both unrefrigerated) from Gut&Günstig to my table. Hygienically extremely questionable. As expected, the schnitzel was a frozen product, the pepper sauce was a curdled mixture of cream and ready-made sauce. The bad reviews are absolutely justified. The prices quoted in the bagpipes are an outrage for the quality delivered. I will never set foot in a restaurant owned by this operator again. Thank God there are also many good restaurants in Cochem where you can get great quality for a reasonable price. The additional €4 on the bill was probably caused by a misunderstanding from the cellar. I think he thought I ordered a double schnitzel.

Incredibly bad shop. Ordered schnitzel with fries. The food came two minutes after the order was placed. Fries were cold and had probably been in the deep fryer for an hour. I have never tasted worse mushroom cream sauce. It then costs €18.90 and a non-alcoholic wheat €7.90. It couldn't be more outrageous.

We're sorry we went in here. Fries were very salty, schnitzel with mushroom sauce (I think it was Lidl sauce) was just fine. Prices are way too high. 0.4 l beer for €7.90 which was way too high. 0.33 kolsch for €4.90.

A nice panoramic terrace on the second floor, but what ridiculous prices. €7.80 for a draft beer (0.3l I believe) is really ridiculous. Sandwich with aïoli was also very simple and aïoli not very tasty. The view is nice and the service was quite friendly.

Seldom eaten so badly. I had the coachman's steak or shoe sole with fried onions. Friends had tw. Schnitzel dishes - all convenience. There is no cooking here. To top it off, when we asked for mayo, "Good and Cheap" mayo bottles were placed on the table. You can't really be more hospitable than that. The only silver lining was the friendly service.

Folks, an old saying... look at the toilets, the kitchen is like that too. The rustic interior is the only positive thing. The chicken schnitzel was a disaster, every chip shop makes better food. The chicken schnitzel was totally hard and small, Lovelessly served with fries and that's it, for a proud 18.50 euros. No salad with it, served dry... The waitress was unfriendly and listless. It's a shame for such a beautiful location... you can save yourself the visit, pure embarrassment.. .

We had arranged to meet there for lunch as part of a club tour. A friendly employee came relatively quickly to take our drink order and these were also served quickly. Shortly afterwards we wanted to order food, which unfortunately took longer, even though the hut wasn't even full. My friend then ordered the knuckle with baguette and I ordered the spaetzle with mushrooms and parmesan (which had actually been pre-ordered for some time because we were such a large group). It took longer than expected, but that wasn't so bad given the great view outside. Then the food came... my spaetzle was lukewarm and tasted more like a finished product. Too bad. But I wasn't surprised at all by the huge selection on the menu. Less is more. Better quality than quantity. (; My friend's knuckle was very good, but the three slices of braguette were so hard that you could have put stones on the plate. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right here. And the drinks are way too expensive in my opinion. But overall the staff was very friendly. Ambience is quaint and appropriate. But I would definitely prefer to go to another restaurant on my next visit to Cochem.

I've never eaten as bad as today. I had gypsy schnitzel and my wife had Jägerschnitzel, both with fries. The fries didn't taste like anything and were weak and rubbery. The schnitzels were (ready-made schnitzels) just thrown into the deep fryer and soaked in oil and thrown onto the plate. There was also mayonnaise and ketchup from Ja EDKA. The 0.5 liter house wine was tasty and the whole thing for €62. We are often in Cochem but the food was a disgrace. We cannot recommend this shop and will never go there again.

Me and my girlfriend (and our 18 month son) went for a day out in Cochem and when passing by the Wirtshaus decided to have lunch there. Pros: - The decoration looks nice. - The service was fast and helpful (Tuesday lunch time, with less than half the house full). Cons: - The restaurant feels/is cramped (my girlfriend struggled to leave her spot since there was another table right behind her. - The menu is quite confusing. - We ordered two flammkuchen, one of them with shrimps (very tiny shrimps) loosely spread. - There were some people smoking on the terrace (probably still a German thing?) - There were small bits of glass on the floor, that we noticed we sat our son on the floor just to pick him up straight away. - Expensive (almost 50€ for two flammkuchen, one beer and one ice tea).

Visually great, service average, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired. Bitburger advertising, but they serve Felsgold Metrobier, which actually tastes great, but it's not drinkable here and at horrendous prices. The schnitzel was frozen, the sauce was definitely not homemade and the fries were average. This restaurant is definitely not recommended.

Were there at the beginning of August. Ordered an Aperol Spritz. The drink was expected in the usual Aperol Spritz glass. We received a 0.2l wine glass, filled mainly with ice. In other words, the actual drink was reduced to a minimum. This for a whopping €9.90 per glass. That's the bottom drawer. Bad rip-off.

Because of the great location, we went to this restaurant in good spirits without looking at the reviews first. So much in advance. This will never happen to us again! About 10 minutes after ordering, the “food” was already on the table. Dr. Oetker's tarte flambée was still edible. Even if you can get it on the frozen food shelf for about a third of the price. The spit roast, from a trusted butcher, was just horrible. Dry. Without a crispy crust. Likewise the fries! There wasn't much else to discover on the plate. The absolute worst point was reached when I let the food go back (for the first time ever. I've never done anything like that before!). I also mentioned that I would only pay for our drinks and the tarte flambée. The waiter then took the plate away more or less without comment. As if this were happening multiple times a day. It's unbelievable how a restaurant like this can survive in such a great location.

I actually don't agree with the opinions of many other review writers. Sure, the food doesn't come from a star restaurant and the portion and taste are rather average, but anything but bad. Combined with the view of the Moselle, beautiful lighting and friendly staff, you can still create a unique evening that you won't soon forget. At least that was the case for me. I went into this restaurant with a completely open mind and was not disappointed. Clear recommendation from me!

It was a shame to pay almost 17 euros for a not freshly prepared Jägerschnitzel with ready-made Jäger sauce😡😡😡😡 and there was no salad😡😡. The portion is more like a children's portion. We also had a cordon bleu (same children's portion) and tomato bruschetta for 9 euros, which was outrageously expensive for the portion. There's no need to take money out of holidaymakers' pockets like that. We paid almost 73 euros with the drinks.

Avoid this “restaurant” if possible! My friend and I took a trip to Cochem today. When we were looking for a restaurant for dinner, “this shop” caught our eye because of its beautiful ambience with a view of the Moselle. The “guy” in front of the store should have been a warning to us. The bagpipes were well attended, but we still managed to get a seat outside. Actually, I always read the reviews beforehand, unfortunately and to our detriment, not this time. This won't happen again in the future. As soon as we looked at the map we noticed the very high and underground prices, but we didn't let that put us off at first. We ordered cola twice, almost undrinkable and barely carbonated, but that shouldn't be the worst part of our stay. We decided on the Spätzle pan, I said you can't go wrong with it, and a schnitzel with pepper cream sauce. While we were waiting (50 minutes) for our food, we noticed that some of the other guests' plates were being returned half full. The schnitzel we ordered was clearly frozen, as was the dollop of sauce on it. The fries were okay but dry. The spaetzle pan was really inedible, it was completely over peppered and had a very strange and old taste. We let us go back again. The waiters didn't ask us or the next table whether it was tasty, for good reason! We have never eaten so badly and paid over €40 for it, really disgusting. This food made us sick and even worse after reading through the only negative reviews. NEVER AGAIN!

Location and view very nice! Eating was a disaster, there were 4 of us eating and all 4 Had a very miserable schnitzel followed by vomiting and diarrhea - these dishes are inedible and cannot be recommended!!!! Went there and ordered Jägerschnitzel, visually what I got looked like Jägerschnitzel, the taste said otherwise. I've never been to a snack bar where I've ever been served something so lousy, which simply tasted terrible and I chose not to eat, and that's what we call a pub. I can only recommend everyone not to visit this inn.

Leider haben wir uns von der schönen Inneinrichtung blenden lassen. Mein Flammkuchen war noch kalt. Die Schnitzel meiney Mannes ließen sich kaum schneiden und waren recht dünn. Preis für meinen kleinen Flammkuchen 17,20 Euro. BIER O,4 7,90 Cola 0,4 5,90. Einfach Abzocke. Unsere schöne Fahrradtour hatte leider diesen schlechten Abschluss. Der 1 PUNKT ist für das freundliche Personal. Toiletten auch nicht sauber. Nie wieder!

Rarely fell into a major tourist trap. The location on the Moselle is good, otherwise we wouldn't have gone in here. Without thinking about it, into a pub. On the table next door is Gut&Günstig Mayo from a tube. Mushroom spaetzle like from a bag of canned mushrooms. Onion schnitzel ok (I expect more) and the fried onions were lots of canned ones instead of quality. The beer was measured straight away, everything else is overpriced. Who wasn't there when we arrived: the chatterbox in front of the store. It came later and would have been a warning to us.

Sfeer was niet slecht. Bediening was ook niet verkeerd. Het eten daarentegen... Had een Griekse Schnitzel en een naturel schnitzel besteld... De griekse was een naturel met een kwak yoghurt met knoflook en een halve ui in blokjes. De naturel was niet gaar(niet handig met kip) maar wel taai. De komkommer salade was goed te eten. Ze weten wel van prijzen, een glas Cocacola zero was €5.90(!) en nog dood ook... Dit was eens maar nooit meer! Je kunt beter eten tegen lagere prijzen krijgen. Dudelsack is een ordinaire vreetschuur!!

Only the façade is left of the German tavern charm. Demanding 7.90 euros (as of August 2024) for a 0.4l beer is quite an impertinence, even in a tourist area, not to mention waiting 15 minutes for it. Luckily I didn't eat anything; various people were hoping for more from the food, as was heard all around.

Well, the reviews here are generally not good. Our story is from the EC match between Germany and Spain. We had a nice evening here, if you're from Norway everything costs a lot more anyway, so we can't complain about the prices. We ate Bruscetta, and we liked it!

Really very nice atmosphere. We sat on the top floor. The view is very cool. Really great. The food was very tasty. The prices were fair. The service was very friendly. All in all, a very successful lunch. We will definitely save this address for next time. We'd love to come back.

Cold food returned. 30 minutes later I received a very peppery and quite salty (albeit warm) steak. The rest of the family was already ready. And patience ran out. I ate the steak (without fries and just 2 pieces of old toasted baguette, super hard) and left. Drinking is super expensive. Staff couldn't apologize or even say hello. I certainly didn't feel welcome here. Never going here again!

Cappuccino arrived, cup half full and a small pile of foam on top. Could have been dishwater. 0.4l liter beer 7.80€!!!! More than outrageous. Ordered apple strudel at the same time, didn't arrive within 25 minutes, the drinks were already empty and we wanted to pay. The waitress wanted to settle everything, but when we said that the apple strudel wasn't coming they just looked confused. We didn't want to pay him! Then she just said “it took a while”. So there actually wasn't even a "sorry" or anything like that, not even after paying.

What a cozy restaurant this is. You can sit both inside and outside. Has a very special, attractive interior. We sat here every evening last weekend and had a delicious meal and for an affordable price. The Wiener schnitzel and cordonbleu are highly recommended. I have a gastric bypass myself, so I'm a small eater, but nothing to complain about, they have plenty of choice. The cucumber salad was also delicious. As soon as we are back in Cochem in October, they will definitely see us again. Nice service too👍
