Wirtshaus Schwarzer Hahn in Fulda

In my opinion, the food here is only cooked semi-fresh. The schnitzel and croquettes looked like they came from frozen. It didn't taste bad, but I expect better quality from a restaurant. I can make frozen schnitzel at home, too.

The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly and attentive. If you are looking for a rustic and cozy atmosphere, you have come to the right place. We really liked this restaurant and would happily recommend it.

Stayed here briefly today for coffee and chocolate cake with a liquid center. Very tasty and the service was nice! Inside, the ambience is rustic, but fits perfectly with the Rhön and looks very inviting!

Auf Empfehlung des Hotels haben wir dort gegessen. Nah am Hotel (Hotel am Schloß)nur ein kurzer Fußweg. Das Lokal sehr urig mit einer leckeren Küche. Wir hatten Rinderbäckchen und Obatzter. Die Bäckchen waren zart und mit leckerer Soße. Dazu Salat. Mein Obatzter war mit Brot und Salat. Auch lecker. Das Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Der Preis war vollkommen in Ordnung. Kann man nur empfehlen.

We arrived around 5 p.m. Our reserved table was in the back room, and we had a direct view of the dishwasher in the kitchen. The curtain on the door was probably too heavy to operate ;-) The daily menu was in such a hygienic condition that we were reluctant to order further. What a shame.

Wanted to eat a good, home-style meal. Goulash soup was really tasty. Can be recommended. The little one had nuggets. They were already, very finely chopped. Says very unsavory. Reserved a place by phone. Everything worked out so far. Employees were very friendly.

We recently visited the restaurant and chose the Schäufele. The food was good – the meat could have been more tender, crispy crust? She looked very better than she was. We would particularly like to highlight the beer: absolutely top class, a clear tip for every beer lover! The service was… special. Not unfriendly, but not warm either – more matter-of-fact. That was fine, we were happy in the end, but it didn't leave a lasting impression. Overall, a solid experience, especially for fans of Franconian specialties and good beer. Good for a quick visit.

The Schwarzer Hahn Wirtshaus is a true culinary highlight! As soon as you enter the inn you are greeted by a warm and inviting ambience. The service is outstanding - the employees are extremely friendly, attentive and make you feel comfortable straight away. The food is simply outstanding! We particularly recommend the Franconian Schäufelchen with potato dumplings, gravy and savoy cabbage vegetables - an absolute delight! The combination of tender meat, the hearty sauce and the side dishes is perfect. The Munich caraway roast and the Ammergau mountain farmer are also delicious and hit the spot. Here you can see the passion and experience in the kitchen! Another highlight is the delicious beer from Hochstift, which goes perfectly with the food and rounds off the evening. Conclusion: The Wirtshaus Schwarzer Hahn not only offers excellent food and refreshing beer, but also first-class service. If you are looking for traditional, well-prepared cuisine in a cozy atmosphere, you should definitely stop by here. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If quote “good middle-class cuisine with traditional charm” end of quote consists of simply smearing salad dressing over the unpickled hand cheese and the roast venison as convenience food is accompanied by cold savoy cabbage, completely dry dumplings and a tasteless, mushy sauce, then you are happy to wash away good home cooking with a decent country beer and leave as soon as possible, never to come back. It's unbelievable what hunger can sometimes allow. Unfortunately, the decor and the nostalgic pictures don't help at all when it comes to eating. Bet six!

The ambience is very rustic and we liked it...but not when you sit in the passage with a view of the toilet and, after asking twice for another table, you are rudely told that everything is occupied or reserved, even though Half of the tables seemed free when we arrived and were still free after a 1 1/4 hour stay...we would have liked the landlady to be more accommodating...we won't be visiting the restaurant again.....

I ordered bread dumplings with chanterelles in cream for €18.50. I got one (!) dumpling cut open into three slices, plus about 20g of chanterelles in a cream sauce. No garnish, no salad side dish. Very disappointing

Delicious food from German cuisine. The catering industry is often busy, which occasionally means that drink orders are forgotten and you have to ask. Other than that, the portions are just right and the food overall was very tasty.

Nun, die Bewertung des Lokalbesuches würde die Schulnote "ungenügend" bekommen. Trotz Reservierung war es ein Tisch im Zugang zur Küche und Toilette. Geschmacklich gesehen ein Wohlgeruch. Das Essen können wir leider nicht bewerten, da es trotz EDV Technik vergessen wurde. Die blöde Nachfrage "haben sie etwas bestellt" setzte dem Ganzen die Krone auf. Fazit, in der Stadtkarte von Fulda ist an der Adresse von diesem Lokal kein Schwarzer Hahn mehr sondern nur ein schwarzes Loch.

Absolute recommendation. We sat indoors with a larger group and were looked after by very nice and friendly staff. The food was very tasty and the atmosphere was relatively relaxed despite the many guests outside. I had the garlic bag and can only recommend it. If you want to eat well you will definitely find something here.

The food deserves only the worst possible rating. We ordered different schnitzel dishes. Two very thin little schnitzels each, probably industrially breaded and then briefly warmed up in the deep fryer. This has nothing to do with juicy schnitzels like it says on the menu. Also the fried potato without any taste. I almost think that these were also ready-made fried potatoes from the freezer and deep fryer. A pity.

Has been waning for a few months. It was my favorite restaurant in Fulda so far, but since the service has changed, with one exception, I only feel moderately comfortable there. The food was always first class. Now you have to make compromises, plus staff who have no idea how to operate. A pity. I'll look for alternatives.

We spontaneously got a place for 3 outside, which we were very happy about. Unfortunately, I only received the season ticket after I asked. The chanterelle cream soup for €7.50 was highly recommended, but the bread dumplings with cream chanterelles were a bit bland and a fairly small portion for €18.50. The schnitzel was okay for €16.50, but we wouldn't order it again. The two main courses were also already quite cool when we received them, even though we didn't wait long.
