If you're looking for Bavarian cuisine, you can't go wrong with Salvator. The food, service, and atmosphere are delicious and authentic. They have a great selection of beers, so there's something for everyone. The non-alcoholic wheat beer is really tasty. I'll definitely be back!

The food was very good, it was very crowded and therefore noisy that evening, but we would still gladly come back.

It's an average Bavarian restaurant. We went early around 16:30, but the veal meat was already not available anymore (only pork schnitzel). It also took long to get our dish, because they forgot to give our order to the kitchen and came again after half hour to get the order again.

A brewery with the usual hectic service from the waiters. They have very good tea. The food is good. The sauce for the schnitzel unfortunately tasted a bit like ketchup. However, since the schnitzel was excellent, it could easily have been omitted. The restrooms were clean, though they smelled a bit, which is perhaps due to the age of the building.

Even though it's in Bonn, the atmosphere is like that of a typical Bavarian brewery. Friendly staff, good food and delicious beer; we felt very comfortable and had a great time.

We ate here on Boxing Day with six people, and I'm quite disappointed. Firstly, my 18-year-old daughter was wearing a "Happy Birthday" crown, which an attentive server would surely have noticed. Secondly, three of us wanted to order dishes that were sold out: boiled beef and pork knuckle! We weren't informed of this beforehand when the menus were handed out! Then, there were only four sausages on the sausage plate instead of six. We only noticed this afterward. We also had to flag down the server several times to be able to order. Then, one drink wasn't brought, and another was the wrong one. The restaurant was busy, but not full. I've been to the Salvator many times before, but I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. What a shame.

Very disappointing today. Despite having a reservation and mentioning a wheelchair, neither the reservation nor the wheelchair was taken into account. The food was lukewarm to cold. Then there was the venison ragout (the meat was very tough), and the red cabbage came from a jar. All in all, a real shame... paid a lot for nothing...

We stopped in on Saturday evening without an appointment. After a short wait, we were given a lovely table. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent.

The lunch menu was very limited. Cafeteria food of abysmal quality. One measly sausage with three tablespoons of strange kale. The male server was awful. December 19th, around 12:30 pm. Unfriendly and annoyed. He blamed the guests for his rushed mood. We don't need this place. Stay away.

A lovely Bavarian inn, a nice change of pace from Cologne nights. I even had a great party here once during Carnival. I highly recommend the roast pork; it's absolutely delicious!

The liver dumplings were good, but the portion was rather small. The schnitzel with fries was unfortunately really bad! The fries weren't crispy enough, and the schnitzel tasted like it had been deep-fried and was extremely pink. You'd almost expect it to have been swimming in the same oil as the fries. The server was very friendly, referring to the younger man, not the older one.

I ate a three-course meal. The pumpkin soup as a starter and the apple crumble for dessert at least salvaged the three stars. The main course, "venison ragout with spaetzle and red cabbage," tasted good, but unfortunately, apart from the red cabbage, it was cold. There was hardly any sauce, and the spaetzle portion was tiny, made from generic, low-quality pasta.

The food was really delicious, and the service at our table was friendly. Unfortunately, the positive impression was significantly tarnished at the end. After two hours, we were asked to leave because our "time was up." However, we had already ordered dessert by that point – and it was canceled without any explanation or prior consultation. When we inquired why we had been able to order dessert but then weren't supposed to receive it, we were simply told there had been "communication problems." This shouldn't happen in such a large and busy restaurant. In addition, the guests after us were seated at our table even before we had fully gotten up. This felt rushed and rude. The delays at the beginning also didn't align with the strict time constraints: We weren't able to order our first drinks until about 20 minutes after our arrival, and our food orders weren't taken promptly either. It's difficult to eat a relaxed meal in a large group within two hours anyway – especially when the dishes aren't served simultaneously. Furthermore, the guests after us were seated at our table even before we had fully gotten up. Overall, the food was good, but the way it was handled at the end, the lack of communication, and the time pressure unfortunately significantly marred the overall impression.

Very disappointed. We had a table for our company Christmas party for two hours. By the time our orders were finally taken, an hour and a half had already passed. We were kicked out before the last of us had even received our food. Dessert was not an option. We were only allowed to take the bottle of wine we had ordered 40 minutes earlier with us. The atmosphere was loud and unpleasant, and the air quality was poor. The prices were outrageous. They shouldn't accept reservations for larger groups. The picture shows a full portion of "premium venison goulash" for €35!!! Inflation or not, this place is a tourist trap and should not be supported.

A Bavarian inn on the Rhine. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is definitely Bavarian, and the food is delicious and plentiful. We had to wait quite a while for our food (a little over an hour), but they apologized in the meantime. The wait was definitely worth it. The prices are also perfectly reasonable. I would go there again if I'm ever in Bonn again.

Fantastic restaurant! Even though it was a Saturday evening, we got a table quickly without a reservation. The team was incredibly helpful and friendly, the food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious – plus, the portions were generous. The beer was excellent as well. We'll definitely be back. A pub in Bonn's city center, a good place to stop for a beer. However, it fills up quickly, especially in the evenings, and the bar isn't particularly cozy. Prices are borderline high for Paulaner, but just about acceptable.

We were a group of eight eating at the inn. After waiting over an hour for our food, I received nothing. When I asked in the kitchen, I was told that the crust on my quarter pork knuckle needed to go back in the oven. After another twenty minutes—everyone else had already finished—my now very dark and forgotten dish arrived. The meat was burnt, while the dumpling and sauerkraut were cold. I was offered a schnapps as compensation. This is no way to handle mishaps—which can always happen.

Excellent dining option in the center of Bonn.

Our roast pork came with very little gravy and the portions weren't particularly large. It tasted good, but there's room for improvement.

We had a very good meal and despite it being very crowded, we didn't have to wait long.

I came in by chance and the atmosphere was cozy and the owner was very friendly :))))) Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy a beer comfortably at the bar!

Delicious, hearty food. Unfortunately, the service was sometimes a bit slow and didn't bring all the drinks at once.

Update: After the response to the review, we ate there again today, and the service had indeed improved significantly; there was nothing to criticize. Original post: Most importantly: the food is great. It's delicious and worth the price. However: I regularly wait ages to be served. Thirty minutes to get the menu and another thirty to pay, even when the restaurant is almost completely empty, is not uncommon.

Delicious food, reservations are highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.

The staff was very friendly. The food was super delicious: schnitzel with fries and a side salad. Mixed salad, not your typical iceberg lettuce. Excellent.

The restaurant is very large with plenty of seating. This makes it relatively loud. As for the food, I was satisfied and full with my half knuckle of pork. It could have used a bit more sauce. I highly recommend a visit.

The waitress came quite infrequently. It wasn't a good seat. It was hard to see. However, she had a very good memory for the order. I can't recommend fries as a side dish. There are plenty of other better side dishes. The food was okay. The portions have probably gotten smaller. The Spezi on tap was great.

Traditional German brewery in Bonn with a wide choice of beers. Very big servings for a fair price. Service was quick and polite. I would return to try other meals.

The schnitzel was not good quality meat, there was very little sauce, and the fries were salty. The spaetzle were not good, and the pork knuckle is also not recommended. Long wait times, and the waiters were arrogant. And this despite the restaurant not being at full capacity. Reservations could not be made by phone because the phone line was down. There was no response by email either. The comfort was poor. Definitely not recommended at these prices.

The food tastes "okay," but the wait (despite the dining room being only half full) is beyond good and evil. We waited 15 minutes after being seated to order drinks. After another 20 minutes, we got our drinks. After the meal, the plates sat on the table for ages, and the drinks were empty. There was probably just not enough staff. It happens. But then they shouldn't accept reservations anymore. We then waited 25 minutes to pay. The ambiance/soundscape is unfortunately not great either. About the food: The portion size is okay. The quality is also "okay," although no one at the table would return just for the food (too cooked, over-seasoned, very dark spots on the schnitzel).

Go somewhere else. A total disaster. The service is terrible. The food is poor, tending toward underwhelming. Please never again.

A beautiful place, authentic, with delicious food. I'd gladly come back to Bonn for this schnitzel. The Backhändel (fried pork schnitzel) arrived juicy and tasty, and we all loved the potato and cucumber salad as well. The fried potatoes were crispy and delicious 👍🙏

If you're not sure where to head, come here, you'll be sure to have plenty to eat and nice beers to go with. And if you're visiting from abroad, that's a guaranteed local experience (so says a visitor!)

The almost complete Paulaner selection in the Rhineland is something special in itself. It's also a great place to while away the time waiting at the nearby main train station.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. The food was great, the service very friendly, we would gladly return. The goulash was the best I ever tried in a restaurant. Just the tart flambé needed a few extra minutes in the oven, but I'm sure it was an exception in my case. There is a kid's menu too.

After some initial hiccups with the new service, the wait was worth it. Great food, we'll be back.

If you like hearty food, this is the place for you. I tried the homemade Leberkäse (meatloaf) and was a little disappointed, as I remembered it being much more delicious on my last visit to Bavaria. However, the mashed potatoes were very tasty. The service staff seemed a bit stressed, although they were always polite.

Me and my boyfriend stayed for a week in Germany, we’ve got plenty of experiences and we loved and enjoyed this place :) all the waiters were very nice and even tried to speak Spanish with us. They were kind and servicial. We really loved the beer and the food. We will hopefully come back someday! Thanks so much :)

It's a shame the portions have gotten smaller, which is untypical and unworthy of a Bavarian restaurant. We were very disappointed 😞 and found it almost embarrassing to our guests. The service and ambiance were very good. Hence the 4 stars.

This restaurant in Bonn is quite popular, so I decided to try some German dishes here. The weather was very hot that day—most guests chose to sit outdoors, while I preferred to stay inside. We ordered a pork knuckle and a pork chop with creamy mushroom sauce. For two of us, the portions were really generous. The taste was excellent! The pork knuckle was oven-baked with a wonderfully crispy skin and tender meat. The side of fries was outstanding—living in the UK, I eat fries quite often, but these were even better than most I’ve had there. The pork chop with creamy mushroom sauce was also good, though I’ve had an even better version in Frankfurt. If there had been just a little more sauce, it would have been perfect. Our waiter, who happened to be from Greece, was not only handsome but also very attentive. Since I cannot drink alcohol for health reasons, he kindly served us extra ice water to keep us refreshed. The restaurant is conveniently located near the train station. If you are visiting Bonn, it’s definitely worth a try.

Our server was great. Very friendly, and even though he was very busy, he managed to get two tables together outside. We had reserved inside. The knuckle of pork was crispy, which is rare in restaurants.

We've been there several times. Everything has always been excellent up until now. This time we were very disappointed. We ordered Leberkäse (meatloaf), which tasted good but was cold. We ordered Obazda (traditional pork sausage), but the portion was very small, which used to be different. The food was poorly presented on the plates. It doesn't reflect the value for money. Service was friendly, but they didn't respond to a request for a drink change. Apparently, they couldn't change it. We were very disappointed; something definitely needs to change. That's how you drive your customers away.

I went there for lunch. They had a lunch menu and I was able to eat at a reasonable price. The sausages were very tasty, and the fish on the lunch menu was also delicious. I think Japanese people would find it delicious.

One of the best places to get beer and food in Bonn, during my short stay there we visited the places multiple times. The atmosphere is cosy, the beers are fresh and food is delicious. You have options of both indoor and outdoor seating ( this is hard to get on a hot summer day). The staff is good though service gets slow when it is crowded. They also have a happy hour during low hours, good deal on cocktails. My top recommendations - fries and vegetarian options. Also pork knuckle. For beer all are amazing just be careful with salvatore as it high alcohol percentage while still being delicious. I would say it's a must visit when in Bonn.

I ate at Salvator for the first time today. All I can say is, the rösti with glaze was the best, and it was very fresh. The staff was super friendly and quick.

Delicious food and drink at fair prices

On Saturday evening, I wanted to have dinner there with my partner. It was very crowded and noisy. After 30 minutes, the waiter came to order drinks. Then we ordered the food, and after an hour, it still wasn't there. After asking where the food was, they said it was only being prepared after an hour. So we would have had to wait another hour. So we canceled the meal. The waiter left with a grin and an unfriendly expression.

The waiters ignored us for about 20 minutes after we sat down. They were already there and saw us, but they just didn't come. But when someone did arrive, the service was friendly and quick. The food is good brewery fare, and the beer is fantastic. Overall, I'm happy to wait for it. The problem is the crowd that approaches the tables outside and begs for food.

Very good food. However, the service could definitely be improved. Coordination doesn't work. Guests are sometimes skillfully ignored, especially by a young lady.
