The food received nothing but praise from the waitress. There were nine of us, and none of the dishes even came close to receiving a good rating. The Rhenish Sauerbraten alone, in my opinion, should be removed from the menu immediately. The chef should watch how it's prepared in a good restaurant; it was truly disgusting and inedible!

I've been coming here for a few years now; the location is good, and the food is just okay. I can't agree with the bad reviews. The food is still just okay in 2025.

We ate there three times during our stay; the food was always delicious and the service was excellent. It was very nice there.

Unfortunately, only two stars for this restaurant. The veal schnitzel was small and thin. But it came with a huge pile of salad and raw vegetables. I did, of course, mention this, but without any response.

We've been here before for cake, and it was absolutely delicious. Today we were there for dinner, and what can I say? It was truly amazing. My wife had the Wirtshaus salad with fried potatoes, and I had the zander. We've rarely had such a good meal. We wish the young and dedicated team all the best! We'll be back soon! 👍

For the price (€25 veal schnitzel), I found the food to be more than average! There was hardly any meat (small portion) and it was quite dry. The potatoes/fried potatoes were blandly seasoned. The vegetables were absolutely boring and unimaginative: large, thick lettuce leaves, cucumber pieces, and the like, with only a little dressing. The salad tasted bland and seemed more like decoration to make the plate look fuller. The price also doesn't justify the location, theoretically overlooking the water. I've eaten much better for the same price or less, whether in large German cities in good locations or abroad.

We stopped in spontaneously after a bike ride. We received a very friendly welcome. Beautiful view of the Rhine. Shady spots. We ate "Himmel und Äd" and "Rheinischer Sauerbraten." The Himmel und Äd was so delicious and beautifully presented. The Sauerbraten was also very tasty, but a bit more sauce would have been nice. Although, I didn't ask, so no star deduction. You can and should linger here. Please keep up the good work.

Very bad food, Risotto tasted very sour, seemed spoiled. Called the waiter and he said it tasted normal as it should. We then ordered another dish for that person and the risotto was still on the receipt. The fries with the currywurst were also very greasy. Tip don't eat here and sit further away where it is also cheaper.

Fries were old and full of grease. The deluxe sausage was just a sausage. Just walk away....

Well, first the Früh Kölsch (early Kölsch) was gone (on a Saturday evening). Then the potatoes in my dish (asparagus with potatoes and butter) were undercooked. I can't say anything about the four asparagus spears; I had already complained about the potatoes. They kindly offered to correct the order, which I gladly accepted. The potatoes were undercooked again. I agreed to a correction there, too. But then a man came to our table who didn't introduce himself and told me that the potatoes were always good. But he offered me to order something else. Actually, I lost faith that it would work, especially since no one even believed me. Meanwhile, a man had long since finished his meal. He enjoyed it, but he's not rating anything here.

For the price, you'd expect more. There were four of us, and everyone was disappointed. The value for money was completely out of whack. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

Very poor value for money. The taste was perfectly fine, but the portions were very small for the price. We ate a turkey steak with fries and a salmon steak with rice.

Food was OK, price-performance wasn't justified because there wasn't enough on the plate to fill you up😂you should also have plenty of time. Waited 1 hour for schnitzel with fried potatoes 🤦afterwards dessert because you were still hungry...waited another 30 minutes...and the restaurant wasn't full 🤷the staff was very friendly! Conclusion: give it a little more gas in the kitchen 😉and put a little more potatoes on it 😁 Maybe I'll come and test it again sometime 😉

We spent Mother's Day weekend from Friday to Sunday in Königswinter. One evening we had salad with turkey stre5 and rump steak, the other evening we had currywurst special and turkey breast schnitzel that were simply top notch. My son, my mother and I were thrilled by the food, staff and ambience. We look forward to the next time. Highly recommended.👍👍

We came spontaneously in the evening with about 10 people. A larger table was immediately put together for us. The service was friendly, courteous and competent. There was a lot of delicious food to eat, from inexpensive starters to salads and currywurst to homemade schnitzels and desserts. Even cake is prepared in-house. Top location, highly recommended!

We have on April 17th. In 2025 we were looking for a restaurant where we wanted to eat well after a wonderful day. There we came across the "Wirtshaus am Rhein". We ate really well. The portions were generous and the fries tasted so great. I have rarely eaten something so good. The service was excellent and the highlight was (which I didn't expect at all) I got a free piece of cake 🍰 for my birthday, which I found to be very thoughtful. Wir waren mit der ganzen Familie ( 9 Personen ) Ostermontag im Wirtshaus am Rhein. Das Essen , der Service alles war top 👍🏼. Preis Leistung ist auch gut, man bekommt noch was für sein Geld . Mit Liebe angerichtet auch die Qualität war sehr gut. Besonders gepunktet hat bei uns die Gast und kinderfreundliche Art in diesem Lokal. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und werden bestimmt noch öfter vorbeischauen 😀.

We spontaneously went to the Wirtshaus am Rhein and were thrilled. We were greeted by a super friendly waitress and given a table by the window with a great view of the Rhine. Then we also had a fantastic meal. In addition to the veal schnitzel, we also had the turkey schnitzel and noodles. All dishes were tasty and the portions were sufficient. We can recommend the restaurant without reservation.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wirtshaus am Rhein and I have to say it was a fantastic experience! The food was simply first class, I had the best rump steak of my life. The atmosphere was great and the view was simply unbeatable. All in all an A1 experience! The toilets were also very clean. Ps the waiters especially Tuan and Nofel were very friendly and accommodating. I will 100% come back with my family ✌🏽

The Wirtshaus am Rhein has, as the name suggests, a brilliant location directly on the Rhine. A relaxed atmosphere invites you to linger. Now to eat. We had the turkey schnitzel and it was the best thing we have ever eaten. You would have gotten every star. Keep it up

We had a great visit to the Wirtshaus am Rhein! The service was absolutely top – super friendly, attentive and warm. You can immediately tell that the new owners are at work here with a lot of commitment and attention to detail. What struck us particularly positively was how family-friendly the inn is: there is a sturdy children's chair and - which is really rare - a very good changing table, even in the men's toilet. This shows that consideration is being given here. We'll definitely be back!

I walked in here randomly and now I know I will come back here every time I am in Germany again! amazing Argentine rump stake, and the beer that tastes like highest quality honey, is probably one of the best meal I have ever had!

After years of slumber, this beautiful restaurant in Königswinter am Rhein has awakened again. It was never really bad. But now a new team has taken over the catering. We spent a very nice evening on the terrace today. The service was outstanding! Very friendly, attentive and just makes you feel good. And at the end we enjoyed a delicious Kaiserschmarrn - fantastic

We had to wait over an hour for the food and the glasses were empty on the table for at least 20-30 minutes. It wasn't full and people kept saying it was full.

We were surprised to see that the place was empty. Then we were told that they had opened especially for us to accommodate the children's needs to eat early. That was something special. Our waitress was super. She was friendly, patient and really made our visit a special one. Our only negative point was the lack of any real, special Christmas like atmosphere in the restaurant. It was too brightly lit up and quite chilly. Not that cozy really. As we had the place to ourselves, we had the full, helpful attention of the waitress. Two of us had the day's special, the traditional roast leg of goose with potato dumplings, red cabbage and plenty of tasty gravy. I washed this down firstly with Pils beer and then, their homemade Glühwein which was piping hot and delicious. The rest of our family group had pasta and salad, finishing off with apple strudel and pancakes. The whole afternoon was a pleasure. And having the place to ourselves for most of the time was a welcome, added bonus. By the way, the restrooms were modern and super clean. And parking in the nearby pay for parking area was easy on that Sunday afternoon.

We were there after a long search and, above all, hungry...there are simply no restaurants in Königswinter...one had probably been closed for a while, the other only offered potato salad with something...well anyway, that's where we ended up... .thought well you can't go wrong with schnitzel...oh yes...frozen ones from the deep fryer, pepper sauce from the bag and thick as jelly, only the fries were ok. The side salad wasn't great either. For my husband, a dried quarter of a lemon decorated the edge of his plate. All in all, the visit was a disappointment and the price/performance ratio was not okay. The service was very attentive...well, there were only 3 tables occupied. The view of the Rhine was the only great thing.

This afternoon we ordered a cappuccino and herbal tea on the terrace from a very nice and attentive waiter. He said I was doing it to relieve my colleague. We didn't think anything of it. Instead of the herbal tea there was green tea I came and I kindly asked the waiter to bring me the herbal tea I had ordered because I don't like green tea at all and I didn't order it either. He explained to me that he didn't know what herbal tea was from the teas on the menu, so he asked his colleague and she said, take the green one. Of course it would have been better if he had asked me as a customer which "herbal tea" I wanted. He then showed me the different types on his iPad (since we didn't have a menu to choose from) and I decided on the peppermint tea. Five minutes later the very angry colleague came with the tea like a fury and snapped at me: "I should have "But I could immediately say that I wanted a peppermint tea, that would be double work for them and the restaurant would be full"! I then said that I wasn't informed about what types of tea were on offer, and I got another rude answer. My husband then said whether we had to apologize for ordering something here. The waitress' answer was in such a cheeky tone: "That It’s their problem and not mine!!!” We eat out a lot, are always friendly and are treated accordingly, something we've never experienced before! The service staff certainly have a lot to do on Sundays and public holidays, but friendliness and objective answers will get you a lot further. I think the lady is absolutely out of place. Sorry, but we were shocked by such behavior.

We just drove from Essen to Königswinter and wanted to have lunch at the inn on the Rhine. 1:50 p.m. Since a large reservation has just arrived at the restaurant, no more food orders are allowed. Sad never again!!!!! 😡

Great location, top location, but the staff is completely overwhelmed. Waiting 45 minutes for a tarte flambée is quite a challenge. Simply paid for food and didn't eat it. Can the one man kitchen be happy about the food.

Overall, the food didn't convince us. The schnitzels looked like they had come out of the deep fryer. The crust was dark and relatively hard; not what you would expect with a freshly made schnitzel. The pepper schnitzel had too little sauce, the tavern schnitzel had too few braised onions. Overall, the schnitzels are simply far too expensive for the quality offered. The service was consistently friendly and tried hard, but overwhelmed. The location on the Rhine is beautiful. But that’s about it. Not recommended.

Very nice service, we sat outside with a view of the Rhine. As a vegan, I ordered fried potatoes (actually only listed as a side dish) and a side salad. Otherwise there is also vegan pasta with tomato sauce or pesto.

The inn is located directly on the main street and the train tracks, which causes a certain amount of unrest, at least on the terrace. The food didn't convince us, the schnitzel we ordered came after just 5 minutes, I'll leave that alone. The absolute plus point was the very attentive and friendly service. Overall, there is a lot of room for improvement. Three stars.

Wir sind sehr zufrieden. Das Essen war sehr lecker ,man merkt das der Koch sich sehr viel Mühe gibt. Die Teller sind ordentlich gefüllt ,man wird definitiv satt . Der Service ist klasse,freund und zuvorkommend. Was auch auffällt ,dass sehr viel wert auf Sauberkeit gelgt wird ,auch auf den Toiletten. Insgesamt war der Besuch sehr zufrieden stellend . Wir kommen definitiv wieder !

After a great morning at Drachenfells railways and castle we ventured toward the riverside in Kinigswinter. This is where we came across the Wirsthaus and decided to call in for Lunch. Food, drink and service was excellent, thank you and Danke-shon.

Nach 10km Wanderung wollte ich hier einen Kaffee trinken. Bevor ich mich hingesetzt habe, wollte ich zunächst auf die Toilette. Mir wurde dann aufgeregt hinterher gerufen und dann in sehr unfreundlicher Weise bedeutet, dass das WC nur für Gäste sei. Daraufhin ist mir die Lust vergangen hier noch Zeit zu verbringen und ich habe beim rausgehen 1€ hingelegt und gesagt, dass ich nun nicht mehr bleiben möchte. Im gehen murmelte die Dame mir noch hinterher, dass sie es liebe, wenn die Leute sie so verarschen (Original Wortwahl). Wenn ich die anderen Rezensionen lese passt das wohl ins Bild… Ich trinke nun woanders den Kaffee

Very nice cozy atmosphere & very nice staff. Now for the main course xD A hamburger that lives up to the word and tastes so good that we can really say so. we can recommend it to anyone who really wants to eat a real hamburger. Feel free to come to Königswinter, when we visit the Drachenburg and where we later go for dinner with the family. We ate a lot of hamburgers, in different restaurants, Be it Kleine Steakhaus Köln or Miss Pepper Frechen or Five guys Köln, all of which advertise hamburgers, but unfortunately from our point of view they are not convincing. Freundliche und schnelle Bedienung sowie gutes Essen - perfekt für ein spätes Mittagessen. Ein Bonus: ich konnte mein Handy aufladen

Es war in Königswinter, nicht davor und nicht dahinter. Es war gleich mittendrin, als ich gestern (sorry normalerweise damals) auf Dich reingefallen bin. So kann man unseren Besuch im Wirtshaus am Rhein in Königswinter bezeichnen. Die Preise dieses Restaurants liegen jenseits von gut und böse. Ein Schnitzel "Wiener Art" mit Zitrone und "krossen Pommes" (sind ganz normale Pommes) 14,50 Euro. Portion kann man als ok bezeichnen, der Geschmack liegt zwischen 2 und 3. Bestellt man aber eine Portion Senf dazu, so wird ein extra Entgelt von 0,80 Euro berechnet. - Ein großes Glas Markensenf bekommt man im Einzelhandel bereits für 1,70 Euro -. Das war für mich das erste mal, dass ich für Senf zu einem Schnitzel extra bezahlen musste. Hinzu kommt, das es sich mengenmäßig vielleicht um 2 Teelöffel gehandelt hat. Wünscht man zum Schnitzel eine Soße - hier hatten wir ein Pfefferrahmschnitzel (Pfefferkörner in einer Mehlschwitze) - darf man für diesen Klecks "Soße" stolze 4 Euro mehr bezahlen, ist also bei 18,50 Euro. Zusätzlich bestellten wir von der Herbstkarte Matjesfilet mit Bratkartoffel. Portionsmäßig im Bereich Kinderportion einzuordnen für den ebenfalls stolzen Preis von 14,50 Euro. Gericht Nr. 4 war eine Currywurst mit selbstgemachter Soße. Diese war geschmacklich ok aber mit 11,50 Euro ebenfalls kein Schnäppchen. Wäre jetzt bei den Gerichten noch ein Salat gereicht worden, hätte man die Preise - bis auf den Senf - ja noch akzeptieren können. Aber auf einen Beilagensalat für 5,50 Euro (pro Person) haben wir dann doch verzichtet. Fortsetzung fand das ganze dann auch bei den Getränkepreisen. Eine Coca Cola 0,2 ltr. für 3,30 Euro hatten wir bis dahin auch noch nicht gezahlt. Doch es gibt auch 2 positive Erlebnisse: Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und für den Hund gab es ein Schälchen Wasser tatsächlich ohne Aufpreis :-)

Wir hatten kürzlich das Vergnügen, in diesem Restaurant zu speisen und waren absolut begeistert! Nicht nur die Speisen waren köstlich und von hoher Qualität, auch das Personal war außergewöhnlich freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ein rundum gelungenes Erlebnis.

Das Essen hat super geschmeckt. Die Kellnerin war sehr nett und sympathisch, genauso wie das Ambiente. Essen kam auch ziemlich schnell an. Kann nur weiterempfehlen
