We held our wedding here and were very pleased. Ms. Hahn and her team were very friendly and accommodating. They helped us with all our questions and supported us with the planning and decorations. The food was excellent and the ambiance beautiful! Highly recommended! Thank you so much!!

The price/performance ratio here is absolutely not right. I wouldn't recommend it... The tables and chairs inside are also very uncomfortable and low.

Overall, our visit to this inn was disappointing and not recommended. Since all the tables were reserved for a group, we were asked to sit in the beer garden across the street. It was self-service only, although some waiters were standing around looking bored. The baked feta with Mediterranean oven-baked vegetables was still significantly overpriced at €18 and probably more suitable as an appetizer. As a guest, you feel a bit "cheated." The "traces of Mediterranean vegetables" were well hidden under the feta slice, consisting of a small slice of zucchini and two halves of cherry tomato garnished with a few olives. The beer in the beer garden, however, was quite okay.

We got married at the open-air museum – the ceremony took place in the beautiful Eyerlohe hunting lodge. We celebrated the champagne reception and dinner at the Wirtshaus zur Krone. Our wishes were perfectly implemented by the entire team; everything was perfectly organized and lovingly designed. Normally, I'd say: I'd love to do it again – but I only get married once.

The most outrageous prices I have ever experienced in Franconia. A simple drink for 4 euros. We would actually have liked to eat there with 8 people but for these prices, no thanks. Everything is getting more expensive but some people are overdoing it... I hope the guests think twice. You shouldn't support something like that.

Despite reservations for 15 people, 30 minutes later we had to ask several times, even argue, to be allowed to order anything to eat. An hour later we were cashed in. The food was good - although the prices were quite impressive for Bad Windsheim. But since the end of work at 7 p.m. seemed to be the main focus, the bill was limited. Unfortunately, hospitality and gastronomic skills look completely different. It was actually supposed to be a nice, sociable evening. Instead, unfriendly, unmotivated handling. Too bad. We had Franconian Schäufele and bratwursts with sauerkraut in the very nice inn on the first floor. Both dishes were served very quickly and were very tasty. The waiter was very friendly.

Access to the guest room via stairs. Prices ok. Solid Franconian food. Service can be expanded. After a few spoonfuls of soup, the main course came straight away. You can then choose which of them you want to keep cold. You collect money while you eat. That's better. Especially when you are served by “Boss”.

Very nice and rustic half-timbered atmosphere in the Gasthof zur Krone. Typically Franconian and very good food including very friendly and flexible service staff. Had a few lovely moments at lunch here. In summer there is also a beer garden opposite. Everything is integrated into the great and extensive Franconian open-air museum, which then invites you to take a tour. It's worth the trip to come here. It wasn't the last time we were here. Here you can still find really hearty, incredibly delicious Franconian home cooking! Definitely try it! I can highly recommend the horseradish meat and the sauerbraten (!)! The prices are also very fair!

I was happy about a varied selection of vegetarian dishes and ultimately decided on “Bohna Kern” in gingerbread sauce, vegetables and dumplings. Service for our group was repeatedly great and my dish was delicious.

The open air museum was amazing! It was wonderful seeing all of the medieval houses. We went in the winter, but I bets it’s even more amazing in the spring. We did not eat at the Wursthaus, but it looked good!

Unfortunately not recommended. Franconian holiday soup with still cold, almost frozen ingredients (liver dumplings, marrow dumplings). Franconian bratwurst, which gave the impression that sausages that had been grilled days ago had simply been warmed up, served with farmer's bread that was probably from the day before. Cheese spaetzle in a fatty cream sauce that contained a maximum of traces of cheese. The only bright spot: the pumpkin soup. But that doesn't save the bad overall impression. Never again.

We can only judge the service (!?) because we couldn't order anything to eat or drink. We were there on Sunday and got a table outside. Everyone else was occupied or there were dishes and glasses on the tables. There was no sign of a waitress anywhere. Like other guests, we got up and left after about 15 minutes.

Very authentic Franconian cuisine and drinks in a historical atmosphere. The young waitresses are very friendly and attentive and speak Franconian.

Nice restaurant in the open-air museum with a great atmosphere. We had lunch on the terrace and enjoyed the beautiful ambience. The portions were plentiful and very flavorful. We had schnitzel with fries and Franconian bratwurst with potato salad. We had to order ketchup and mustard separately. The service was a little stressed that day, but still very friendly. The children's portion of 'dumpling with sauce' came with two dumplings and was therefore generous. There are high chairs there, but no playground due to the location at the entrance to the museum.

We were there on September 22, 2024 and it was busy but the service was there quickly. Our meal, schnitzel with fries/potato salad was really good. The prices are now high everywhere, but the performance here is also good.

Unfortunately, the organization and dealings with paying customers are not good here. The poster that asks boys to treat the staff well should also be hanging in the back area, because unfortunately the attitude here does not match the requirements. It's a shame because the food is good and the prices definitely match it.

True Franconian Menu! Plus your typical fare and kids menu too. Enjoy a beer made at the Freiland Museum from grains grown here, too, while enjoying the idyllic setting... you can even camp in your RV in their orchard/parking lot. I want to bring my whole family from USA here, this place is literally the coolest "museum" I’ve ever seen, it covers so much historical life+technology it's incredibly educational and yet also relaxing and intriguing for all ages! Pet the animals, stroll through gardens and fields and travel back in time!

Unfortunately completely disappointing. We ended up there through a TV report about country inns. Apart from the nice atmosphere in the open-air museum, it was a failure. Lovelessly and poorly prepared main courses are served by annoyed and bored staff. French fries were raw inside, the rest didn't taste good. We were very annoyed about the money we wasted and the calorie intake that wasn't worth it. Clear thumbs down unfortunately!

We highly recommend exploring the huge area on a Friday. Very quiet, few people and you can always get a seat in the restaurant with a beautiful beer garden and a great menu.

I ordered schnitzel Viennese style with potato salad. The long wait of half an hour somehow gave me the idea of ​​a fresh schnitzel with souffled breading. Unfortunately, I received a piece of butterfly cut form that was flattened with breading stuck on. The potato salad was tolerable. Maybe you should take €19.90 for the schnitzel instead of €16.20 (it doesn't matter anyway) and put a little more effort into it. The waiting time was probably thawing time. The next table asked me if I knew which sausage was in the Franconian sausage salad. As a native of Franconia, I answered “Stadtwurst” because that’s what I actually assumed. Unfortunately there was Lyoner or meat sausage in it. I thought it would be in Saarland or in the discounter. Self-service now offers no room for better rating of service.

Eating in the open-air museum is great. It's strange that smoking is allowed in restaurants here, but it's rightly forbidden in the open-air museum. It would be more obvious to ban smoking on the entire premises, including in restaurants.

On the occasion of our Diamond Confirmation we met here for a meal together. The food was very good. We were able to eat in the restaurant! However, due to the lack of staff, this is usually not possible!! Self-service in the garden is currently common!! But a good impression! Everyone really tried hard. Even if a young and inexperienced service worker has problems, an encouraging comment is enough and everything is fine again!! I can only recommend this inn!!

The asparagus was mercilessly cooked and there was no taste left. Prepared too early and sat in the cooking water for too long. I asked in advance whether the asparagus was freshly cooked. The young man from the service wanted to ask in the kitchen...but it was a bit haphazard.

The ambience is nice. It is only unsuitable for people who do not eat meat. Vegetarian dishes are advertised on the website, but they are not available on site (except for cheese spaetzle and fries). A bit questionable in 2024, but of course that depends on the target group.

We were there with a very large group. (entire coach) One of our participants accidentally knocked a wine bottle off the table that was very close to an edge. As a result, the entire bottle of wine had to be paid for. Not the purchase price but the selling price. An additional €23 was taken from the person. With a large group, I find this to be outrageous, especially since the restaurant has actually profited from this mishap. Service is probably underplayed here and it's all about enrichment. Ambience is dreary and not all that chic. Food nothing extraordinary. Absolutely no recommendation. Not again.
