We were here to stroll through the city and ended up here by chance. Lunch offer until 3 p.m., we had expected that the portion might be smaller, but that wasn't the case. The beer goulash was tasty and hot, the service staff was attentive and friendly. This is what you want when you visit a restaurant. Gladly again!

Wenzel is a safe bet if you want to have lunch or dinner. The menu offers typical Czech dishes, which are provided in sufficiently large portions. In addition to some delicious types of Czech beer, there are also other drinks. We were completely satisfied.

Because of the wine festival in Chemnitz, we reserved a table as a precaution, which seemed to make sense given the crowds on Saturday evening. The service, even though all of the numerous tables outside were reserved or occupied, was attentive and quick; the drinks and food ordered were served perfectly in a reasonable amount of time. The dark beer on tap was a delight, and the dishes we chose were also typically Czech.

Addendum; Yesterday we were guests again at the end of our stay and unfortunately our years of good experiences were completely destroyed. The service was extremely friendly, although it sometimes took 10 minutes or more to get the service staff's attention, for example to order a drink. With 3 service staff and maybe 8 tables, it's simply a no go. The ingredients of the Wenzel Burger were carelessly “slapped” together and everything was drowned in an orange sauce. The otherwise delicious dumpling fries were so hard that you simply couldn't eat them. A pity.

Superb Czech restaurant in the heart of Chemnitz!

This visit yesterday as part of the hat festival was a big disappointment. We waited forever for service, even though there were 5 waiters visible and the beer garden wasn't fully occupied. When we were finally lucky enough, we were actually asked to order inside at the counter because the waitress didn't want to get wet, but for us it seemed like an option in her eyes. She was also very rude and rude to other guests. None of the waiters smiled, which says a lot about the working atmosphere. The food was so overpriced, a mini pot of goulash soup for €8 and the taste out of the can was amazing, the farmer's breakfast was dry as dust and bland. With restaurants like this, I see a black mark for next year's Capital of Culture - a black spot in Chemnitz city center and a disgrace for the Czech food and people culture - we really like the Czech Republic!

We had a delicious meal on Mother's Day and were not disappointed. 10 minutes of ringing bells didn't stop us from sitting outside.

Restaurant and food were ok. Knödel do not reach Czech quality. Little bit strange to go in a Czech restaurant in Germany, so close to the Czech border…

Food is below average in terms of quantity and quality, prices are therefore too high. Problems with billing 5 parties of 2 people each.

I've been here a few times over the last few years. And there's nothing wrong with the selection and taste. There’s even Pilsner Urquell👏 now The price increase is of course also noticeable here. The savings on the daily specials (not the lunch specials!) are pretty much completely gone. Service is very good, card payment possible. Selection: great Taste: excellent (I have never eaten smoked knuckle better anywhere) Prices: marginal but affordable

The food is really good, whether it's knuckle, goulash with dumplings, schnitzel or roast pork, you don't have to go to Bohemia to eat delicious local food, Bohemian cuisine is at home in Wenzel, the beer selection is really good, four breweries and then at least three types of them, so there is something for every taste. There are also plenty of non-alcoholic drinks on the menu. The children's menu is also ok, every little guest will find their own food. Furthermore, I can only say that on average the price structure for the dishes is right, both for food and for drinks. The ambience is a bit too poor for us, but it basically fits the motto of a beer hall. A really successful evening for us, I can only recommend the “Wenzel” in Chemnitz to fans of Bohemian or Czech cuisine.

Good food and the price was good too, always worth a visit

The trio who were responsible for the service (2 Asians, 1 young lady) were very incompetent. We were practically not served and had to beg the waiter for every request (i.e. ordering drinks, food, another round of drinks, paying). That's definitely a shame. However, the food itself was delicious.

I'm a spoiled eater. I just celebrate the cuisine at Wenzels. The food is always great and the 8 different draft beers from the Czechs are awesome. The location is highly recommended just for drinking beer with friends. More service staff wouldn't hurt. The two of them are already busy.

it was full but I was offered a seat at the counter. That was a great idea, it gives you a nice overview of the bar. A real eye-catcher The homemade house lemonade with melon flavor was a great combination with the Wenzel beef mince burger. You have to try the dumpling fries.

Some portions are small for the price. Tasty. Part of the upper floor with a view of the forecourt cordoned off, a shame. Try beer in 0.1 glass too expensive.

Very tasty food, typical Czech meals and drinks. Of course there is also typical German food. Ambience is nice, but not exceptional. Price slightly above average. Still highly recommended, it is a good alternative to other restaurants.

Service good. The food tastes good too, but due to the extra charge for side dishes (red cabbage, sauerkraut or Schopski salad) it is quite expensive. Desserts are also very ambitious in terms of price.

Update 02/2024: 5 stars for cook, service, equipment, toilets, offers (to save costs you can leave out two for one... but of course that's nice for us customers..). I don't like the "complaining" about credit card payments in the menu. Sure, 84k in fees for 2023 is a lot, but it's not that interesting for the guest. Simplest solution: At the entrance door -> only cash or EC/GiroCard sticker. Then everyone will know.

We are regular guests, partly because the concept is right and we have always been satisfied... today's visit was different for the first time. A colleague of my wife recently claimed that the quality of the food had deteriorated. I didn't want to leave it like that. I was surprised today. I had the pork schnitzel for around €18... which tasted strangely like very old fat. The small portion of fried potatoes was a culinary misunderstanding. Soggy potato mass without the slightest claim to a taste experience. The pensioner delivery service would have done a better job. The best thing about that evening was the fact that we were invited to this meal. A slip-up can happen to anyone. I just haven't experienced it here yet. After all, we were represented by 11 people. You have to think carefully about showing up there again. One hopes for better.

We generally had a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, what remains in the memory is that the service employee made a very inappropriate comment while serving. Furthermore, 2 of our 4 meals were so cold that we had to send them back. And the other two meals were also pretty far from hot. The food tasted good. The vegetarian dish was more like a starter and the children's dish was very carelessly prepared. All in all, no reason not to come back, but also no reason to choose this restaurant again the next time you visit a restaurant.

Unfortunately, my review requires an addendum and I unfortunately have to deduct two stars from the five stars I first gave. We were there again yesterday as part of the hat festival. We were really looking forward to it and pre-ordered it for four people days in advance. After we arrived on time, we were immediately assigned a table. As soon as we sat down, the woman from Kalln stood next to us and asked for the order. I first asked for the map and told her that our companion was still on the way. Now she stood next to our table every few minutes. We felt totally pressured. I have to mention that we had booked the table until open end and when we eat is completely uninteresting. We had the impression that the waiters were paid based on sales. Constant “nagging” after the next order is completely annoying and doesn’t help you relax. Now our companion had also canceled... and the corners of his mouth disappeared into nothingness. Not to mention her eye roll, we missed it. As three men desperately looking for a place, we offered our free places. We really didn't feel like it anymore and said goodbye immediately after eating. Now I was allowed to “run after” the waitress to pay the bill. By the way, the three men had the same problem with their order. Just a quick summary. "Wenzel" advertises the prices on the website, stating that the service staff has an hourly wage of €14. I think that's praiseworthy, but please, dear Wenzel, explain to the service staff how important it is to be friendly towards customers. The customer is the one who gives the staff the opportunity to earn money here. In Corona times, the litter quickly separates from the wheat. Update 3/13/22 Halle dear "Wenzel", today we were with you again and my impression is that you dealt with your workforce. I have to say EVERYONE was very friendly and accommodating. We were advised and looked after very well. All in all, we have found our restaurant for lunch and evening. Thank you for the lovely afternoon with you.

I generally liked it at Wenzel Chemnitz. The ambience is overall ok. The tables are relatively close together. It's really loud at peak times. The service was on point. The burger that was ordered without tomatoes came with tomatoes, but was quickly removed from the burger. Otherwise, the food was what defines Wenzel. Simply delicious!!!

Overall, a great place to chill in Chemnitz. The beers were nice and the service was great. I ordered the Svíčková which was also nice but the portion sizes could be a bit small for some people.

Bestes Restaurant in Chemnitz für tschechisches Essen. Natürlich sind die Preise nicht vergleichbar mit der Tschechei, aber es schmeckt gut und das Personal ist auch sehr nett und zuvorkommend.

Leckeres Essen, freundliche flinke Bedienung & saubere ebenerdige Toiletten. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Wir hatten für einen Dienstag Abend einen Tisch reserviert und waren froh darüber. Das Restaurant war gut besucht. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und bedient. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam ohne aufdringlich zu wirken. Wir hatten eine Soljanka als Vorspeise, eine Wenzelhaxe und eine Pinsa mit Räucherlachs zum Hauptgang. Die Gerichte waren großzügig, sehr gut angerichtet und sehr gut zubereitet. Das Ambiente war typisch für diese Gastronomie und hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Super leckeres böhmisches Essen zu fairen Preisen und in völlig ausreichenden Portionen. Es gibt leckere böhmische Biere und Liköre/Brände. Auch das Dessert war super lecker. Die Bedienung war durch die Bank weg sehr freundlich und auf zack. Das Restaurant (wir saßen oben) ist sehr gemütlich.
