Wenzel Boltenhagen in Boltenhagen

We came without a reservation and we could be sure. They have excellent Czech beers, I had excellent goulash soup and fried cheese. The food was excellent. Thank you very much and I will come again for the best Czech cuisine.

The Wenzel Boltenhagen is a simply furnished restaurant serving Bohemian cuisine. The mini goulash soup was delicious, but absolutely overpriced at €8.44. The small smoked pork knuckle with sauerkraut and Bohemian dumplings was a manageable portion, but also good! Tina, who served us, was extremely friendly and prompt. What really bothered me is that you complain in your menu that the overall cost of food has increased and the VAT has increased. You also complain about credit card fees. (see photo) I really don't want to read something like that on a menu as a guest, because life has become more expensive for all of us and paying with a credit card is now normal. And it's not like your food is cheap!

We ate there twice with our dog. The service was very attentive. The order was taken quickly and arrived very quickly. Everything tasted good. Everything was good all around and very dog ​​friendly.

That was the first and also the last visit to Wenzel Boltenhagen. A completely overwhelmed service. Orders were forgotten or you received something you didn't even order. The food itself wasn't even served lukewarm. The microwave must have been broken. The food served then deviated from the menu again. All in all, nothing justifies the exorbitant prices at this location. Neither in the service area nor by the kitchen staff, who apparently aren't even able to warm up the pre-cooked food.

We ate at Wenzel yesterday and made a reservation online in the morning. The conditions are very friendly. Our dog was immediately given water. We find it very comfortable there, but that's a matter of taste, we sat in the winter garden. The drinks came very quickly and the food came pretty quickly too. No long waiting times. We were there last year in August and sat on the beautiful terrace.

The good thing first...we reserved online and everything worked out great. We were warmly welcomed, water was immediately brought for the dog and painting supplies were provided for our son... BUT unfortunately the food was very disappointing. We had the little knuckle. It was neither crispy nor very warm and the sauce had no taste at all and there was no mustard. The waitress was immediately told that the sauce had no taste, something could go wrong in the kitchen, but apparently that's how it should taste according to the chef... We were very disappointed, the stars are only for the nice service...

Arrogant, snippy service person. Some of the food was inedible. Bohemian flour dumplings, very sour sauerkraut, not edible, end piece of Kassel neck and all of this was in a thick, doughy sauce.

Have eaten here several times on every holiday. This time only once and unfortunately very disappointed. The sausage salad now consists of 50% iceberg lettuce (which is not mentioned on the menu) and costs the same. The previously delicious veggie burger (mushroom pattie) was replaced by a disgusting, indefinable replacement product. The waitress couldn't answer what it was supposed to be. She dismissed it with the remark that people in Dresden like it. Definitely too expensive for just over €18. Apple juice spritzer now costs over €6. Incomprehensible. Service was very nice as always, the espresso was on the house after the criticism.

Wow, people keep their word here. Stopped in spontaneously at lunchtime without a reservation. There was still a table free, lucky. We had the Kassler and pork goulash from the lunch menu and were thrilled. Both dishes were rich and very tasty. The beer recommended with it also went perfectly. If you want to eat very well in a more upscale atmosphere, you are in good hands here. By the way: The prices of the lunch menu are also worth mentioning: €12.45 per dish is unbeatably cheap.

I can't rate the food, at least it looked delicious and smelled good. Ambiance upscale cozy rustic. No chance without a pre-order. We were here on September 9th, 2024 and had the Wenzel Burger, once with normal fries and once with Bohemian dumpling fries. Both burgers were very good, the burger buns were homemade, the minced meat paddies were well cooked and quite firm in consistency, I would have expected them to be medium rare. Regular fries were very crispy and yet juicy and soft in the middle. Typical steakhouse fries. Bomische dumpling fries are very good, very crispy and can't really be skewered with a fork. Ketchup good, tartar sauce very good. The portion is plenty but at almost €19 it's definitely too expensive. For drinks we had homemade lemonade, one strawberry-raspberry and one melon-lemon. Both were very good and served with a glass straw, but the price was also very high. Service was ok, we had to wait a few minutes at the entrance until the waitress could come to us. We didn't make a reservation, all free tables were marked RESERVED. Since we had only arrived 2 hours ago, we still got a table for 4. As is the case almost everywhere, the lack of staff is noticeable here; another waitress and another employee in the kitchen would be helpful here. The menu explains that VAT has been increased from 7% to 19%, these costs will be added to the prices, and there will also be fees for card payments in 2023 of over €80,000. The guest also pays for this. Of course, the employees are not supposed to work for minimum wage, which is why the dishes have become a little more expensive. Conclusion: Very good food but too expensive for an average of 25€/person for a burger and lemonade. I come from the Stuttgart area, so I get burgers (all homemade) with fries and lemonade (homemade) for 15-18€ and I can choose which ingredients I want in the burger and whether it's medium-rare, medium or well done should be.

The beer... in a variety of choices... well chilled and very good... poured, 🍻❤️🍺 But live here, in the neighboring one, Apartments above.. Rather less. The whole thing was poorly thought out. I chose the following dish: Small Bohemian smoked knuckle (€19.97) Cured knuckle in black beer sauce with sauerkraut and Bohemian dumplings The original recipe for Bohemian dumplings does not contain any spicy ingredients. That's why you should complement this with a delicious sauce if you have it or can prepare it. Any simple packet sauce wins the race here. The sauerkraut had no taste at all. A lot of salt and pepper cannot conjure up the original taste. As ordered, the knuckle was mini and not crispy. It was very soft and fell apart. You can compare the consistency with the knuckles from Aldi that are heated in the microwave. The waitress didn't have the time or the desire to explain the individual types of beer to me in an understandable way during the beer tasting.

Fast and friendly service. Very tasty German/Czech home cooking and well-known good Czech beer. We had dinner and felt very comfortable. Beer goulash, roast beef and farmer's breakfast were excellent. A clear recommendation.

We couples 63/49 were guests here in August. Online reservation on the same day worked without any problems. We were there a little earlier. Our table wasn't free yet, we were offered another table while we waited, which we simply kept. We expected hearty home cooking and were not disappointed. The staff was polite, attentive and tried very hard (positively!). The beer selection made you want to “try it out” and it was worth it. We had no expectations when it came to the ambience, but we felt very comfortable. We would like to enjoy the “Bohemian cuisine” again and would be happy to recommend it. We had a very nice evening, thank you for that.

It was an evening to forget. We arrived and waited a bit before a waitress, who was in a slightly worse mood, brought us to the table. Afterwards a very friendly waitress came and brought us the cards. Since my wife suffers from gluten intolerance, we discussed this when placing the order. The friendly waitress was apparently new and a bit overwhelmed by the situation, but extremely helpful. We had already found out about the individual cards and their offers online. Unfortunately, there was no gluten-free menu in the local restaurant and neither were the dishes that we had considered online. So I wanted to order the colorful appetizer platter, but the “summer promotion card” had already expired. My wife had chosen mashed potatoes with pork neck and sauerkraut as her favorite on the gluten-free menu online, but there was no mashed potatoes on site. So the big search for a gluten-free dish began. The waitress who had assigned us the table came to the aid of the other, presumably new, waitress and assisted in a somewhat grumpy manner. She had much more experience and was able to provide information, but with the knowledge that there were hardly any gluten-free components available and the selection was extremely limited (e.g. only tomato sauce could be considered as a sauce or no mashed potatoes, only normal potatoes,...). Unfortunately everything was very frustrating and extremely complicated and in the end my wife only had a Schopski salad. We then received the food after a short wait. As a starter I took the dumpling fries, also a bit frustrated as the starter plate wasn't available, which unfortunately didn't really convince me. Our main courses were also rather sobering. The Schopski salad was a completely normal, colorful salad with a little, almost neutral dressing. Nothing that requires you to go to a restaurant or that is different from other restaurants in any way. My Bohemian farmer's breakfast was okay, but a bit small and ultimately tasted rather monotonous and hardly inspiring. Finally, we each ordered an ice cream sundae to give the Terence Hill ice cream a chance. Ultimately, this was the best thing of the whole evening, even if it didn't completely convince us. Maybe after the previous disaster, the ice no longer had the chance to inspire us. In the end we were very disappointed with this evening and will definitely not visit Wenzel again in the coming years.

In advance. It's a shame that a really interesting summer menu is advertised online and when asked, it is explained that the kitchen cannot prepare the dishes from the summer menu. Lack of staff... If you compare the prices on the menu with another location and get a statement like that, you actually know straight away what's going on here. Although it could have been 5 stars, because the terrace is very comfortable to sit on and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, even when the restaurant is full.

Nice and above all business-minded service, as long as everyone plays along. Here the customer is not king. We were here for the first time. My wife wanted the pork schnitzel. Annoying, last portion just out at 5pm. Pork schnitzel is probably in short supply these days, okay. As an alternative, my wife was literally talked into having the Wiener Schnitzel (almost twice the price). My Pinsa was good, the Wiener Schnitzel was mediocre and at €30 it wasn't really a bargain. When invoicing, I politely asked about possible goodwill and was ignored. Only pretty much ironed out when asked again. Service = 0. You are not interested in any compromise or solution. In my opinion, quick money is made here from willing customers.

Incredibly friendly service. Very honestly pointed out that there was little kitchen staff, but that wasn't a problem in the end. Pancakes with cheese filling very tasty, burgers also delicious. Quark dumplings for dessert are great! A small problem with the ice was quickly resolved! And all of this with a waitress who was at the end of her 12 hour day. Respect. You sit on a beautiful terrace, the street fades into the background thanks to the beautiful plants, but remains noticeable. Gladly again!

You reserve a table and get seats right at the entrance with drafts and other annoying visitor traffic. Several tables with 4 chairs with a reserved sign remained empty during our stay and were not allowed to be used by us when we asked! Absolutely unfriendly and inflexible towards the guest. That was definitely the last visit to this restaurant!

On the first day we had the roast beef with mushrooms or the cream beef roast. The Bohemian dumplings weren't for us, the meat was very tender. Another evening we ate the burger. It was extremely tasty and we will definitely eat it again before we leave.

The restaurant manager is very unfriendly and doesn't have it under control. The food didn't blow us away. The young lady in service was very unfriendly, overwhelmed, unhelpful and with the reservation it was one day and the other way around. The excuse that came up again and again was that there was a lack of staff. What can we do about it as guests if there isn't enough staff and that's not what we want to hear as a guest. We will stay at the Baltische Hof again, but forego the restaurant.

Unfortunately we can only describe our impressions incompletely. It was not possible to reserve a table during our vacation. From 12 p.m. all tables were reserved until 8 p.m. In Warnemünde there was always an opportunity to get a table. In Boltenhagen we were immediately rejected. It's a shame we like being guests at the Wenzel.

Weird economics. Unfortunately, ketch up was also out and the main course was suddenly served with a large knuckle instead of veal schnitzel. Since the staff seemed subtly overwhelmed to us, we didn't make a fuss about it. The food was ok, but nothing special. Unfortunately, another visit to this restaurant is out of the question for us.

Very nice restaurant, we didn't make a reservation and therefore only got a corner seat. It was still very nice and a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant is always fully booked in the evenings, so I recommend making a reservation in advance. The food and wine were very good and the staff was also very nice.

A nice restaurant, delicious food in a pleasant atmosphere! We tried the lunch menu - Kassler with sauerkraut and Bohemian dumplings (very tasty) and beer goulash with Bohemian dumplings (yum). The price for the food was good and fair (12.26 euros each), but charging 6.20 for the naturally cloudy apple spritzer (0.4l) is steep. All in all a positive experience.

We had the Wenzel Original Burgers. They were “so-so”. Asparagus and hash browns are better. Overall ok. The Bohemian dishes are probably more recommended

The praise on the menu for the garlic soup is absolutely not appropriate. The Bohemian dumplings were too simple and the wild mushroom sauce on the beef was bland and didn't live up to my expectations. My mother cooked the very best dumplings and wild mushrooms. But the Czech beer, just great 👍
