I was quite impressed with the Wechselbar. The beer garden, in particular, is fantastic. Parking wasn't a problem either, although it could quickly become difficult in the summer. The location is top-notch with a great view of the Essen-Werner valley. The atmosphere was cozy, but unfortunately, the place is very noisy. The service is super friendly. I would have liked the food to be heartier. The prawns in chili oil, in particular, needed more spice. The aioli was fantastic! I was a bit lonely the next day. 😉 I'd be happy to come back. Private parties can certainly be held there very well.

We celebrated our wedding yesterday at the Wechselbar with over 60 people. Thanks to Carsten, Anna, and the entire, very attentive team, we had an unforgettable evening. The planning was very relaxed, and we received excellent advice. On the evening itself, there was a fantastic buffet and always full glasses. It was a wonderful setting with fair conditions – thank you!

A lovely, cozy restaurant. Rustic on the outside, modern and cozy on the inside. The beer garden is especially recommended in good weather. Unfortunately, it can be a bit noisy inside when it's busy, making it difficult to enjoy a relaxed conversation. The food is delicious. I'd happily go back here, especially to the beer garden. 👍

The atmosphere at the Wechselbar is truly unique. We returned after a long absence. The food and drinks were unfortunately rather mediocre. The service was a disaster. They didn't listen, forgot parts of our orders, brushed off our greetings in an unfriendly manner, and gave snappy replies. Not nice!!

Simply amazing! It was our first time there, and definitely not our last! The atmosphere was beautiful! The people there were just super nice, friendly, attentive, and genuinely personable! The food was truly delicious! The value for money was also great! We were truly happy and will definitely come back again!

We were particularly impressed by the way the Wechselbar creates atmosphere: The beer garden combines coziness with a touch of elegance, and the interiors are harmoniously designed, providing the ideal setting for both small and large celebrations. Whether for a relaxed meal for two or as a wedding party, the Wechselbar not only met our expectations but far exceeded them. A place where culinary delights, quality service, and hospitality come together at the highest level. Highly recommended – we'll definitely be back!

Nice outdoor ambiance! Daily specials! The food is recommended, and the portions offer very good value for money! The long drink evening on Saturdays is highly recommended! A major drawback: As a local restaurant, they don't offer any Essen beer (Stauder)! Sad! The beer alternatives offered are unfortunately unsuitable. One simply wishes for more local patriotism! Hence, only 4 stars.

We haven't been there for a while now and enjoyed the beautiful weather by sitting in the beer garden. It's a dream, with its location on the hill and the beautiful panoramic view, as well as the design 🤩🤩🤩 What we didn't like so much this time were the schnitzels...the meat was stringy and not well-seasoned or cooked. As if they had been pre-fried in large quantities and then just warmed up. The accompanying paprika sauce consisted of a lot of cream sauce with bits of bell pepper that you could only guess at 😕 The salad was great at first glance, but the accompanying sauce was a complete no-go... Yogurt dressing lacked much flavor 😕😕 We remember it differently from our last visit a good year ago! Plus, a waitress who was a bit rude at first... Even though it wasn't that busy at 6 p.m.... Over time, she became a bit friendlier! Hopefully, it will be again, because the owners are super nice and, as I wrote at the beginning, it's a super idyllic restaurant!

After a leisurely motorbike ride, we once again chose the "Wechsel Bar" to end the day. A great atmosphere (even more so in the glorious summer weather) with a lounge feel and a good selection of food (something for every taste). Today we opted for the finger food platter, which we really enjoyed. On Saturday evening, all cocktails (including some delicious non-alcoholic ones) were available at the "happy hour" price. The staff deserves special mention, especially the waiter, who was prompt and always friendly despite the busyness. All in all, a perfect end to a beautiful summer day and highly recommended.

Especially in summer, it's a great place to unwind outside and enjoy the sunset. If you've eaten or just want a drink, with a bit of luck you can snag one of the lounge chairs and lie in the sun. The price-performance ratio is right. We always receive a friendly welcome and courteous service. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

The Wechselbar is beautifully situated in nature, so 5 stars for that! Unfortunately, the food was only okay. I had a salad. It looked nice, but I had to hunt for the dressing, so it was rather bland, and that for about €15. My girlfriend's schnitzel was also average. Our server seemed to be having a bad day and seemed in a bad mood. However, another gentleman was cheerful and friendly when paying. I'd be happy to come back for a drink/snack.

The ambiance is very nice and inviting. Unfortunately, the quality of the food (schnitzel with pepper sauce) wasn't that great. The schnitzel was greasy, and the sauce didn't taste homemade! The service could be friendlier! I would come back just for a drink.

We enjoy coming here regularly because of the good food, the casual and relaxed atmosphere, and the super friendly owners. Here's an example from yesterday: I spontaneously went to the Wechselbar with my mother-in-law and my 14-month-old daughter, and it was happily packed. However, the first phase of my daughter's defiant demeanor, who was desperate to make contact with the dogs at the neighboring tables, unfortunately made our visit less than enjoyable. When ordering, we were informed that the food would understandably take a while due to the large number of guests. Nevertheless, the children's portion of fries was delivered in no time to distract Madame from her canine friends and appease them. We still asked if we could change our order to take away, which was also kindly accepted. I'm sure that yesterday, with our moody child and various special requests, we were the most annoying guests. Nevertheless, we were treated super friendly, as always. We're so happy that the Wechselbar is here and hope to be back very soon. By the way, our food tasted just as good at home ❤️

It's been a long time since our visit. It was a very nice day and our table was facing the field. The first drink order went quickly and food was ordered. After that we had to wait an incredibly long time. After 60 minutes, no one had brought our food to us, and no one asked for drinks either. The restaurant emptied, and even then we were almost deliberately ignored. After waiting for 2.5 hours we decided to leave. When we paid, the waiter absolutely couldn't understand that we were upset about the situation. There could have been a short message saying that it would take longer or something similar, but nothing came. The situation developed strangely and the employee we paid to interpreted my friend's look strangely and uttered discriminatory statements towards homosexuals. I've never experienced anything like that.

This is where we love to eat. Everything in the series tastes fantastic and is freshly prepared. The staff is attentive, friendly and always ready for a little chat. Even in summer you can still enjoy nature outside.

Were there a long time ago. Ordered food and drinks and sat outside. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks, but it was busy, so we thought that was completely normal. After that, no waiter came to check on us. After 30 minutes we had to call and say that we would like to order something else. After another 10 minutes someone came. Took the order and when we asked when the food would arrive we were told “it should be there soon”. After 45 minutes I had to call again when it would be the same. Only then did the information come that one of the cooks had probably been canceled and everything was taking longer. It wouldn't have been a problem to say it in advance. But it just seemed like stalling to us. We didn't have a chance to order anything else to drink either. After a total of 2 1/2 hours (!!!) My colleague was fed up and wanted to pay and leave. We got up and went to pay. Then came the food. But it's no longer reassuring for us. When we were paying we were insulted in a sexist and discriminatory manner by one of the waiters. I was just able to thwart a fight. No go what happened there!

Top delicious food, friendly staff, good value for money

Went here again after the winter break to look at the first motorcycles 🏍️ 👀. I had the Friday finger food special. It was very tasty and filling. Happy to be back in the beer garden… until then.

The food was generally delicious. My girlfriend had a schnitzel which was very tasty, I had the rump steak…. I was really looking forward to it! When my plate came I was very disappointed with how it was prepared and also with the amount of meat. For €30 I expected more than a handful of fries, a “herb butter” (which was just butter) and this small piece of meat. What a shame! The ambience is very nice. The staff is top.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience with the service at this restaurant. My friend was brought a different type of Fassbrause than what she ordered. Since she unconsciously grabbed the bottle during a conversation, she only noticed the mistake after the first sip. We politely pointed this out to the service staff and asked for the correct variety. However, instead of a professional and customer-oriented solution, the boss pointed out to us in an inappropriate tone that we should have seen the error ourselves. The bottle was eventually replaced, but only with visible reluctance. The unpleasant impression increased when we paid: the operator pointedly held the bottle in front of us and commented that he wouldn't charge us for it "out of kindness". We found this type of communication to be condescending and unprofessional. Overall, we didn't feel valued as guests, and the way we handled our concerns was anything but customer-friendly. For this reason we will not visit this restaurant again.

Very tasty, quick and personal. The restaurant was recently renovated. The view is very nice and the transport connections are good.

Great location (garden) restaurant. Great view of the Ruhr Valley. Great redesigned and well-maintained beer garden. Friendly and attentive staff. Schnitzels are prepared in the pan, not in the deep fryer. Good value for money. The “hostel parents” always take time for a little chat. Cuisine, service and ambience have been at a consistently high level for years. It's great how the former "Hubi-Höhe" has developed. Invites you to linger longer.

For us, it's always a destination for good food in a pleasant atmosphere. In the summer we also like to go to the beer garden! Recommendation!

The schnitzel, the burger, the calamari, the homemade bread (at least I think so) were again very good. The side salad (with the calamari) was not dried well, which meant that the (otherwise very) delicious salad dressing was a bit watered down. Otherwise everything is very good and tasty and I always enjoy coming to eat here. I'm looking forward to being able to spend time in the beer garden again.

We regularly eat at Wechselbar. The food is very tasty, the portions are large, and the price is right. Extra requests are no problem and the service is super nice and considerate. You can sit very nicely both inside and in the beer garden. Since experience shows that the Wechselbar is very busy, it is advisable to reserve a table in advance. Currently only cash payment was possible. Parking spaces at the restaurant are rare, but you can park on the street. The selection of vegetarian dishes could be a little larger.

I was here for a 50th birthday party. The owner couple ran the shop together, were in a great mood and really on the ball (they weren't thirsty 😉). The small buffet was also very tasty. The appetizer plates in advance are really great. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by here. The only drawback: It's really on the rocks...🤷‍♂️

Food too greasy and definitely too cold in the dining room

Super Essen tolle Umgebung super Service das Essen wie der Burger und die Fritten, so wie die Cocktails mit super Qualität. Wenn ich könnte würde ich sogar 6 Sterne ⭐️geben.

Bei tollem Wetter ein absolut genialer Biergarten für laue Sommerabende. Das Schnitzel war sehr lecker und der Burger tatsächlich auch. Bei Burgern bin ich oft sehr kritisch da sie häufig sehr lieblos hergestellt werden. Der Patty war kross und das Fleisch war lecker gewürzt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Das Essen war hervorragend, die Bedienung sehr nett und das Ambiente sehenswert. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Der burger ist perfekt abgestimmt, alle Bestandteile spielen perfekt ineinander.

Meine Frau und ich hatten das Vergnügen unsere Hochzeit in der Wechselbar zu feiern. Vom ersten Kontakt, über die Planung bis zur Umsetzung optimal gelaufen. Die Eigentümer mitsamt ihrem Team haben für uns und unsere Gäste perfekt gesorgt. Essen, Getränke, Service, es hat an nichts gemangelt. Wohlfühlfaktor hoch 10. und dazu die beste Champignon-Rahm Sauce die ich jemals gegessen habe.

Die Hubihöhe war und ist ein schöner Fleck Erde, aber das Essen naja. Als Speisekarte bekommt man einen Code zum Scannen. Meine Eltern wären aufgeschmissen. Das Essen war lau warm und nicht heiß. Ich mag eigentlich nicht gerne heißes Essen, aber es war echt schnell kalt, da eben nicht heiß. Schnitzelpanade war nicht gut gewürzt und labberig. Es kam viel Fett raus beim Schneiden. Pilzsauce hat mir gut geschmeckt. Pommes waren lecker. Salat dürftig gewürzt. Bedienung sagt: " Es hat ihnen nicht geschmeckt, aber alles aufgegessen' was für eine coole Bemerkung...sollen wir es ins Gebüsch schmeißen oder wat.... ts

Schöner Biergarten und leckeres Essen, leider mussten wir eine Stunde darauf warten, unsere Getränke wurden ganz vergessen. Die lapidare Entschuldigung: "Ist voll heute". Das ist bei bestem Sommerwetter wohl auch zu erwarten... Wenn man so viele Tische nicht schafft, sollte man vielleicht ein paar weniger nehmen oder zumindest vorher Bescheid sagen, dass es dauern wird.

Das Essen ist Spitze, der Service sehr nett nur leider sind die Parkmöglichkeiten eher begrenzt. Trotzdem absolut empfehlenswert!!!!

Super netter Service, tolle und sehr sympathische Gastgeber. Gemütliches Ambiente, deftige und große Portionen. Zu empfehlen ist das hausgemachte Brot mit selbstgemachter Aiolie, ebenso wie die unterschiedlichen Burgern, die Riesenschnitzel mit unterschiedlichen Soßen und die große Auswahl an tollen Salattellern. Ein Highlight sind definitiv die unterschiedlichsten und frisch zubereiteten Cocktails. Definitiv ein Besuch wert!

Retter in Not. Auf der Kupferdreh-Runde sind wir in den Regen geraten und haben uns vor den eigentlichen Öffnungszeiten ein trockenes Plätzen suchen dürfen. Wir kommen gerne zum Essen wieder, die Karte sieht auch für Vegetarier gut aus.

Heute zum ersten Mal in der Wechselbar gewesen. Mega leckeres Essen, wir hatten Burger, Schnitzel u. Salat Gaucho. Ordentliche Portionen und der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend. Wir kommen wieder!

Sehr schöner Biergarten, aber auch in der kalten Jahreszeit ist die Wechselbar zu empfehlen. Das Team ist immer gut gelaunt, locker und freundlich! Das Essen schmeckt immer frisch lecker, Portionen sind ordentlich. Besonders zu Empfehlen sind die Wechselbar Soße zum Schnitzel und der SummerCooler-Cocktail (auch Alkohlfrei).

Sehr nette Location. Gemischtes Publikum. Vernünftiges Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Einige vegetarische Gerichte - vegan eher nicht. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert.

Super Biergarten mit leckerem Essen und freundlichem Personal. Wer Schnitzel mag, sollte unbedingt hin

Schöner Biergarten mit traumhaften Ausblick. Schade, dass die Städte es nicht schaffen trotz ländlicher Umgebung einen Fahrradweg über z.B. Felder zu bauen. So ist man als Fahrradfahrer von Velbert kommend gezwungen auf die von vielen Motorrädern befahrene Straße mit dem Rad zu fahren. 05/2023 Waren erneut da! Aussicht weiterhin sehr schön und der Service ist weiterhin gut. Das Essen war grenzwertig. Da Donnerstag war, haben wir den Grillteller versucht. Alles war enorm fettig und geschmacklich zu wenig gewürzt. Mit dem Biergarten selber wird sich keine Mühe gegeben diesen zu verschönern. Am hinteren Ende ist eine Müllheide durch einen Holzzaun abgetrennt. Schirme werden nicht sauber gemacht. Schade eigentlich, denn es hat Potential. Wir werden zukünftig nur noch für ein Bier hinfahren. Zudem ist die Bezahlung auch immer ein Thema. Wer in der heutigen Zeit immernoch nicht bereit ist ein EC Kartenlesegerät anzuschaffen wird durch ausbleibende Gäste bestraft.

Schöne Lage. Ziemlich lange Wartezeit auf Getränkebestellung. Kann aber Ausnahme sein. Der Biergarten ist sehr schön.

Definitiv eines unser Lieblingsrestaurants! Egal wann wir kommen, die Begrüßung ist immer herzlich und fröhlich. Die Getränke sind immer kalt und gut, das Essen immer sehr lecker. Ohne euer Hausbrot und das Aioli geht es nicht :-). Einer unser Favoriten ist der Salat Gallo und das Pfefferschnitzel.

Wie immer die weltbesten Schnitzel, nach der Winterpause noch schöneres Ambiente!

Wir gehen schon so viele Jahr hier hin. Die Gerichte sind immer frisch zubereitet. Unsere Favoriten sind der Salat "Gallo" , Cheeseburger und Wechselbar Schnitzel. Im Sommer ist es herrlich im Biergarten mit leckeren Cocktails zu sitzen und man hat einen tollen Blick über die Felder mit Sonnenuntergang !

Wie immer super leckeres Essen toller Service... und ein schöner Abend alle Sterne verdient ...
