A wonderful evening. Excellent food and service.

Not far from the center of Dresden (you need a car or taxi nonetheless for a 15 minute drive), there is a restaurant in a quiet neighborhood by the name of Stresa.  What a tremendously pleasant surprise!  While they call themselves an Italian restaurant, they are not of the traditional, run of the mill category.  They put a wonderful spin on old classics such as risotto with stuffed squash blossoms and fresh, slightly braised scallops. We had aperitifs.  I took a tasty tonic-based house original with a fantastic rose-shaped ice cube.  My meal began with an innovative tomato soup.  A fine rendition with carefully diced tomatoes so as not to interfere with the rest of the alchemy, a tasty light broth and an airy spuma with goat cheese stuffed ravioli.  Homemade bread came sliced on a bread board with a pot of their house version of creamery butter.  We ordered a bottle of Italian Primitivo di Manduria ' at a muscular 14% with good tannin.  Then we ordered a second bottle as everyone loved it. My friend had the Black Angus perfectly rosy.  "Perfect," he said with his eyes rolling in beef loving ecstasy.  Everyone enjoyed dessert.  I had a type of frozen fruit mousse with a wine gelatin and plump cherries!  The service was kind, gentle, enthusiastic and attentive.  We would return in a heartbeat. The food was very tasty! It's not cheap, but definitely worth the price.

We became aware of the restaurant through the Michelin Guide. An excellent vegetarian 6-course menu is offered, which can even be eaten completely vegan as a 3-course meal. The dishes were sophisticated and very tasty. Our waitress was extremely personable and very competent in terms of the way the dishes were prepared and the composition. Recommended without reservation!

Friendly service and ambitious cuisine - always convincing We experienced the Stresa restaurant as a culinary highlight on our penultimate visit to Dresden. Our expectations and anticipation were correspondingly high for our next visit. We weren't disappointed! Sebastian Böhme once again proved to be a friendly and courteous host and the excellent quality of the creatively prepared dishes has not diminished. At the beginning we were served wonderfully spicy fresh bread with whipped mustard butter. The starter, a chanterelle risotto with sous vide cooked pulpo, was a poem. The risotto was perfectly cooked - the ideal mix of creamy and chewy. The pulp was wonderfully tender and very aromatic. The chanterelles tasted fresh and were a delight when carefully cleaned. The skin-fried sturgeon fillet on braised pac choi, confit potatoes and lemongrass foam was also perfectly cooked and aromatic. My stuffed pheasant breast offered a wealth of culinary highlights: the naturally dry breast was served with a wonderfully light, tender filling. The fresh chanterelles and the elaborately made potato tree cake, combined with a sensational truffle sauce and aromatic, fresh summer truffles, offered a taste experience in a class of its own. Instead of synthetic, penetrant truffle oil, the taste was characterized by high-quality truffle butter and intensely fragrant fresh summer truffles. This was once again great culinary cinema at extremely moderate prices. The dessert also effortlessly matched the high standard of the food: the homemade yogurt ravioli with strawberry sorbet and dark chocolate crumble formed a light, summery conclusion to an extraordinary menu. The Villa de Varda Barrique Grappa is also a sign of the exceptional quality of the products offered in the Stresa restaurant. We were once again impressed by the hospitable service and the high quality of the products. For us, Stresa is one of the best restaurants in the city and has once again impressed us with its consistency. An (online) reservation is urgently required.

I was in the Stresa restaurant in Dresden with a friend on February 15, 2025 in the evening and would like to say a lot of praise. We each ordered a steak, but by mistake mine arrived relatively bloody instead of medium well. Of course it wasn't what I ordered, but it was still fine for me and no reason to complain (I still like it). However, the waitress noticed this after my first few bites and immediately said that it wasn't right and of course she had me make a new one straight away. The chef then came personally with a new plate, with two perfect steaks instead of one, and I then got a drink for free. The conclusion for me is that we are all only human and mistakes can always happen, but I find it incredibly great that someone is treated so well and incredibly kindly after a mistake. I don't think I've ever had service like this! We will definitely come back and recommend the restaurant! Thank you for the lovely evening and the excellent steaks 🥩

For example, if the mussels are just a sad, shriveled shadow of their former self, then that has nothing to do with preserving value. An all-round successful evening! From the first moment we felt very comfortable in Stresa. Our waitress Emilie accompanied us wonderfully through the evening with her warm and attentive service! The food was simply fantastic! There were new flavor combinations and variations that we had never tried before - a true culinary discovery. Each course was perfectly coordinated, cleverly prepared and tasted delicious. A big compliment to the entire team for this great evening. We'll definitely be back!

Highly recommended if you want to go out for dinner for a special occasion. I think it's great that as a vegan you get your money's worth. And the seasonal menus mean there is always something new.

I rarely give reviews. In this case I have to, no I can, express my enthusiasm: My partner and I each had a 4-course menu with wine accompaniment and are thrilled! The composition, design on the plate and above all the quality and taste were great!!! In addition, extremely courteous, personable and friendly service completes the overall package. The restaurant offers a dignified atmosphere. The food and the accompanying recommended wines are very good. The service (Emily) was professionally excellent and very discreet. We would be happy to recommend Stresa.

Since Stresa opened, I have been a guest more often with family, friends and acquaintances - even during Corona times we ordered and picked up a menu for our wedding anniversary. We were always very satisfied. There were select dishes - arranged on the plate like little paintings. Completely different on Christmas Day. First we had to wait 1.5 hours for the food, with a 3 year old toddler. The children's meal was long spaghetti with tomato sauce, which of course the child couldn't handle, even though the shops offer many short types of pasta - even in Christmas motifs. Stains were already inevitable. For dessert there were brownies with espresso ice cream for everyone - including the child. The friendly waitress at least managed to organize another ice cream for the child. The highlight, however, was the main menu. On the plate there were two small dumplings, some red cabbage and a completely dried out piece of goose breast, presented completely carelessly - or rather not at all - and without any decoration. It was catastrophic and in no way appropriate for the price level of this restaurant. This experience makes me and my family never set foot beyond the threshold of this restaurant again.

One of the best restaurants to eat fillets of pike, properly cooked and prepared. Great atmosphere and decor. It was a bit chilly when someone opened the door to come in, despite the air lock. Have the veal if it's on the menu.

12/31/24 Update: The owner has since responded to this post and responded. According to him, he has been running this restaurant since 2013. He enters his own restaurant every day and has not yet noticed that to the right of the main entrance there is a 10x10cm metal plate at eye level that he has probably never seen before Statement “Choice of the best restaurant in Dresden 2015” relativizes his statement or answer about his restaurant and leads to absurdity. What is really true now? Because of this statement, 1 star deducted. 12/27/24 In 2015, I believe this restaurant, then called Augusta, received the “Best Restaurant in Dresden” award from a gourmet guide. The ambience, service and cuisine are unlikely to have deteriorated under the new name “Stresa”. We come from Munich and have never paid a bill for a normal Christmas menu of €300, even in upscale restaurants there. For 4 people, 2 of whom are vegan. Service and cuisine/food at Stresa are already worth 6 stars. But the overall price-performance ratio is simply not right. Wages, taxes and energy are certainly some of the price drivers. But energy and wages are also at a high level in Munich.

This was the second time we've been to Stresa and we were absolutely thrilled again. There are always new dishes and completely new, exciting creations. Nevertheless, you'll get your money's worth even if you're not that keen to experiment. There is a wide range for both meat eaters and vegetarians. So something for everyone and so delicious! The service is also perfect, always attentive, never intrusive and every dish is explained again. The atmosphere is also very nice, very cozy, but you still have privacy at your table. What else can I say: we will definitely come back and give it 5 stars! Be sure to make a reservation on Saturdays, as we couldn't get anything spontaneously.

A local restaurant and cozy atmosphere. A little bit far away from the central but worth to be there. The lunch menu is low-cost but with excellent taste and ingredients. The menu changes each week!! The starter is pumpkin with goat cheese. Main dish is haddock with fried couscous. And the sweet is pumpkin pie with fresh cream. Delicious!!!

We are disappointed. When ordering I stated that I don't eat mushrooms and yet there were mushrooms on the plate. They also couldn't offer me an alternative when I ordered. They just said that you just put more lettuce on it. Oh well…. My wife still had sand in her chanterelles. When we spoke to the waiter, the waiter just said “okay”… although half the plate was still full, nothing else was offered. When we ate the main course, the waiter didn't come to us and ask if everything was okay. I would have liked to order salt for my steak.

We were in Dresden for the Castle Night, the pulled pork was still raw and cold. My best friend, who is an omnivore, didn't eat it. As far as I know, the meat takes at least 10 hours to cook. A pity....

Beautiful food, welcoming staff and excellent atmosphere. We had the most excellent meal at Stresa last week. We went for the 4 course set menu with wine pairings. The food was beautifully presented and so tasty! The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. I was able to have an English language menu to see and they made the extra effort to give all the meal descriptions in English for me when they brought the food, which I greatly appreciated. We had a seat outside and the atmosphere there was great, despite being near a large road we felt nice and secluded due to the well placed hedges. I would love to come back here one day, it is such a fantastic place!

A more than successful evening! We tried both a vegetarian/vegan and the fish and meat menu. Both very successful, the vegan one perhaps even with a little more sophistication. The service is very attentive, small wobbles when describing the food used were due to the newly rehearsed menu. The ambience is comfortable (great pictures on the wall) but not an eye-catcher. We will be back!

“Stresa” is constantly working on optimizing its concept. The table lighting perfectly and wonderfully illuminates the excellently put together menu. Chris's relaxed and excellent service explains which dishes the chefs have put together. Such a demanding level makes us completely happy. This love and enjoyment are the best spices for all dishes. An unexpected culinary highlight in the Stresa Restaurant! Our visit to the Stresa restaurant in Dresden Striesen turned out to be a real highlight and proves that sometimes spontaneous decisions lead to the most beautiful experiences. We originally had our sights set on another restaurant, but fate led us straight into the arms of Stresa - and what a stroke of luck that was! From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Chris, an extremely attentive and friendly member of staff. He led us to a first-class spot, which marked the start of an unforgettable evening. The ambience in the Stresa restaurant has an elegance that is second to none. With finely set tables, atmospheric music in the background and a tasteful interior, we immediately felt at home. The menu, although straightforward, offered an impressive variety with a meat/fish menu, a vegan-vegetarian menu and popular regular dishes. We chose the meat/fish menu and were not disappointed. Each course was a work of art in itself - not only a feast for the eyes, but also an explosion for the taste buds. Starting with a delicate Jerusalem artichoke soup and a creation of skrei and black tiger shrimp, through the two kinds of quail to the main courses - the pink roasted saddle of venison and the perfectly grilled beef fillet with truffle and mashed potatoes. Each dish was presented by Chris with a passion and attention to detail that delighted every time. Not to forget the excellent Malbec from Argentina, which rounded off the evening perfectly. The dessert, a goat's cheese cake and a chocolate eclair, was the culmination of a perfect meal. In summary, the visit to the Stresa restaurant was an exceptional experience. The combination of exquisite food, a welcoming ambience and extremely attentive service made our evening unforgettable. Kudos to the Stresa team and especially Chris, whose dedication and professionalism made the difference. We can fully recommend the Stresa restaurant and are already looking forward to our next visit.

My friend and I were there for the second time, for the cooking star lessons. We chose a 6-course menu. The waiter who greeted us still remembered us even though we were there a year ago. The food was to die for, our waitress, Romy, was super personable and gave us a wonderful evening. Once again super satisfied, would love to come back.

We had the three-course menu with SZ-Card (two for the price of one: €78.50). Reservation and processing worked exemplary! The food was very good - from the shrimp to the beef fillet to the éclair. It was a shame, however, that there were apparently too many guests in the restaurant for the team: it wasn't easy to get attention or even a sideways glance from the staff. It's a shame, because otherwise it was a lovely evening!

A lovely, successful evening as part of the cooking star hours in Dresden. A beautifully put together menu that was attractively presented and explained in every single course. The service was quick, friendly and unobtrusive. The main courses (filet of Angus and saddle of venison) deserve special mention, simply perfect! The menu was simply outstanding and the price was completely reasonable. Conclusion: there will definitely be another visit.

I reserved a table in advance and announced that we would like to dine undisturbed. When we arrived, we received excellent service, were given the daily menu and were recommended an apperative that was so extremely well mixed that we immediately had a good feeling. Coming from Düsseldorf, I have to admit that I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to exquisite food, but I didn't think that the Stresa restaurant could go one step further. But that was definitely the case. An incomparable taste journey! I have never eaten creations like this before and I was absolutely thrilled. Both the food and the service are second to none. Very expensive for the quality, the skrei cod dish cost €36 and was not worth it. 2 of the 5 tiny inedible clams were closed, the carrot sauce had an indefinite flavor, like burnt, the fennel was too al dente, not prepared... the result was incredible and very disappointing. The lemon butter appetizer and homemade bread, the best. The service was distracted and did not pay any attention to any other wishes. I couldn't order another wine. I will not return nor recommend it.

A good address for gourmets, if you're looking for home cooking you've come to the wrong place. We chose the 4 course menu and were not disappointed. If you go out to eat in a group or as a family, everyone has to be able to relate to the extroverted menu. If you're a fan of schnitzel with fried potatoes, you'll be disappointed. The dishes are all very attractively prepared and you also receive an explanation for each course.

Deserved ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! The reservation wasn't unproblematic, the ambience and the funny and attentive waiter made the delicious and sufficient course menu an experience!

Eine wirklich gute Adresse wenn man einen stilvollen, leckeren Abend erleben möchte. Hier erwartet einen noch ein klassisch, weiß gedeckter Tisch. Ein sehr kompetenter und aufmerksamer Service. Wir hatten dank der Empfehlung des Kellners einen wirklich guten Wein. Und das Essen - sehr kreativ und lecker. Gute Portionsgrößen um mehrere Gänge zu essen, aber kein Restaurant aus dem man nach 4-5 Gängen hungrig raus geht. Also einfach perfekt. Man kann aus vorgegebenen Menüs wählen oder sich sein eigenes Menü zusammen stellen. Also für jeden etwas dabei. Lediglich das Ambiente könnte einen frischen Wind vertragen, moderner sein ... aber auch das ist sicher Geschmackssache, trotzdem kommen wir sehr gern wieder zum Essen vorbei. Denn auch wenn man etwas mehr Geld einplanen muss, kann man hier eine gute Auszeit vom Alltag genießen.

Mit einer reichlichen Woche Verspätung nun auch meine Bewertung für dieses wirklich erstklassige Restaurant. Ich hatte die Menü-Wünsche vorab abgesprochen, um meine Begleitung zu überraschen. Der sehr zuvorkommende Kellner hat sehr diskret agiert und die Überraschung war gelungen, ebenso natürlich das Menü. Die Speisen in allen vier Gängen waren sehr gut und besonders das Mosaik vom Lachs hat uns begeistert. Vielen Dank an das Team für den wunderbaren Abend!

Dazu eine freundliche Bedienung, da bleibt kaum Platz für Verbesserungsvorschläge Einen haben wir dennoch: Das Ambiente – vor allem die ungekonnte Beleuchtung – könnte eine Überarbeitung gebrauchen.
