We had a small family celebration in Schmellbachtal - we had high expectations and they were clearly exceeded. The location is a dream, the service staff is incredibly helpful, friendly and funny, and the food is a poem. Thanks to the playground and the high ropes course, the Schmellbachtal is also ideal with children. We and all the guests were thrilled. Five stars aren't enough :-)

Exceptional! What a wonderful oasis for a family with two children to visit and just be free for a night in an amazingly peaceful environment with great food. I can’t speak highly enough of this place.

Very comfortable to go out for dinner in the evening

In May I accompanied a beautiful wedding at the wonderful Waldgasthof Schmellbachtal as a wedding photographer. I was absolutely thrilled by the great location (surrounded by beautiful nature / forest in a small valley), the friendly and humorous team at the Waldgasthof and the very tasty food (phenomenal grill buffet). There are enough parking spaces on site. The wedding took place in a small clearing. A great place to celebrate close to nature and relaxed!

Sunday lunchtime at 3 p.m., all tables full. Food almost sold out. Only the expensive 20 euro burgers and currywurst are available. Sad. No salad, no pinsa... Menu very confusing, little. I think it's too expensive, value for money isn't right. For 2 burgers with fries, currywurst with fries and 3 drinks 65 euros. Hello, get your own food and uncomfortable chairs, no cushions. Otherwise a nice place that could do a lot with.

€20.90 for a cheeseburger with fries is crazy, unfortunately the “regional” argument doesn’t help either! It is a self-service beer garden where you can clear your own glasses/plates. You are poured a non-alcoholic Hefe and a Kristallweizen, you are given a lemon in the Hefeweizen with the argument “so that you can distinguish the non-alcoholic Hefe from the normal Kristallweizen”. At first I thought it was comedy, but it was pure seriousness. Welcome to the catering industry and here with very high prices for self-service.

Wow, what a great location. At the end there was a lot going on, but there was no waiting or big queues. Standing at the checkout for a maximum of 5 minutes. There were chairs and tables everywhere on the premises, but we couldn't reserve them in advance. All sales are self-service. There was a nice, funny team and even live cooking on a fire barrel. The food was very tasty and everything was homemade. Chapeau. There is currently only a construction site sale here and I'm really excited to see what it will look like in the end. Keep it up. We'll definitely be back...

I would prefer to give minus 5 stars. According to the homepage, we offer a red sausage or a “half” for under €4 for the European Championship games. Reality: Apparently the reds are sold out and the halfs are 0.33l beer. They don't even know what a "half" is. Additionally unfriendly staff who were completely overwhelmed. Long story short: Completely overpriced, unfriendly and incorrect information on the homepage (borderline). If you like expensive food and shikimiki, this is the place for you. Everyone else is out of place. In fact, it was so bad that we walked out at half-time during the Germany-Spain quarter-final. And we weren't the only ones...

A very sobering evening at the public viewing. After the big advertisement, you went there with great expectations and you were completely disappointed. There were only two small screens. A completely overwhelmed staff that was also very unfriendly. Plus the prices are overpriced, especially when it comes to food. Huge queues at the bar, the staff were completely overwhelmed by the rush! All in all it was a total failure, that's why we left at halftime...

Service top. Funny guy at the tap. I went to watch football today and will be back. Why didn't I find the place sooner. cozy… Not overcrowded. It's a shame that we Germans are out. It was so nice and you could watch on different TVs and on the sun terrace with a projector. I'll just come back for another occasion.

Advertising with public viewing and then putting a TV (a total of two) in the living room is borderline. The bar was completely overwhelmed. There was a continuous queue of at least 20 minutes. Prices were also completely exorbitant. Currywurst + rolls cost €6.90.

Very bad experience at the European Football Championship. For our area there was only a small TV on which half of the visitors couldn't see anything. The queue at the food and drink counter was so long that we didn't even want to queue anymore. We left the inn halfway through. Not recommendable!!!

Advertising football to attract customers is a disgrace. Setting up 2 televisions and setting up a screen in the serving area that is only visible to the staff is unbeatable in terms of ridiculousness. Offering excessive prices and overwhelmed staff at a football event is prohibited. Never again!!!

Perfect place for a delicious meal after a hike/excursion. Great, cleverly prepared food, nice service. Prices ok. Would like more of it.

It's really a unique location, great and friendly team, and the phenomenal food tops it all off! The outdoor wedding ceremony in the countryside was a dream. Likewise the subsequent champagne reception outdoors. I would celebrate a wedding at Schmelli again.

I was able to DJ a wedding here and can only say: Great location! Beautiful location, the food was very good and the staff was always there, friendly and approachable. The rooms are really great, huge terrace. You can definitely celebrate very nicely here. The communication in advance was also great. I will gladly come again.

We recently celebrated our wedding in Schmellbachtal with 130 guests. It was a wonderful and unforgettable day! The service team was extremely attentive and courteous and left nothing to be desired. The menu (Swabian meets BBQ) was super tasty, varied and plentiful, freshly prepared and served by the grill team! The selection of drinks and cocktails were also very tasty. The terrace and other rooms such as the large hall, the arbor and the 70s café were lovingly decorated and prepared. We celebrated until the early hours of the morning and didn't have to worry about anything during dismantling. From the first conversation, Julian, the owner of the location, took a lot of time for us and our wishes and questions and prepared everything perfectly with the team so that we could enjoy the day to the fullest. The guests were also thrilled. We can therefore only recommend Schmelli and will continue to stop by regularly!

Prices are a little higher, but you get restaurant quality and the perfect ambience for a family outing

Prices are very high, unfortunately there are long queues for self-service at peak times.

Beautiful location, burgers and Maultaschen were excellent, fries so average. No card payment with Visa debit card possible, it's really not rocket science to offer these days. Playground nice, but partly a bit unmaintained - swing was torn off by a screw and pallet platform was partly without screws or nails were sticking out. I personally was rather put off by relevant election advertising.

After the renovation, the Schmellbachtal has become a great place for all kinds of celebrations. The quality of the food is really top. I'm already looking forward to the beer garden season

Since we live “around the corner” we go there regularly! Ambiance is negligible and has changed so much compared to before! Likewise the food! It's so delicious, regional, seasonal and high quality!

What has been created here in the last few months is phenomenal! The Schmellbachtal was awakened from its slumber by a super friendly couple. Top quality food, no convenience industry food. What more do you want? We will be back!

It's great there. Unfortunately the prices are excessive Red sausage in a roll 5.90 euros that's sporty. Likewise, the drinks Radler 0.33 3.50 euros are too expensive. The prices for food and drinks should be reconsidered in general. Quality is okay, unfortunately, as I said, too expensive. At some point the guests stop coming, there is a lot of competition in the area.

We were at the Waldgasthof today with our daughter and our dog and felt very welcome. The service was very friendly and the food was excellent! We have also been here with a large group in winter for curling and in the cozy, modern forest arbor. Overall great atmosphere. We'd love to come back!

It's hard to rate the place - I really like the beer garden and the food was also very tasty. It's just a real shame that we had to wait almost an hour for the food to be ready. I assume that it was simply because there were a lot of guests there and apparently a communion was being celebrated at the same time. But waiting for over an hour was a lot. But I'll still come back and hope to have a quieter day next time.

Great beer garden. The food is also good with a lot of space for kids to play. The climbing park is a really nice addition. The only thing is that there are quite a lot of ques. Suggestion: one person goes on the que to pay while at the same time the second goes on the que to order. I guess this can help

Unfortunately poor service, in 2024 you cannot pay with credit card. That doesn't match the premium prices.

Large excursion restaurant with a large playground for the little ones, climbing garden for the older children (€15) and adults (€25). The restaurant is open on weekends and public holidays. There are some rooms that can be rented for events. Parking spaces are available, but when the weather is nice it gets really tight. A visit is worth it.

Very rich brunch, unfortunately a little too little of the deer. But the sauce with roast pork and spaetzle is very tasty and enough for a second helping, the Swabian is happy about it☺️ I'm looking forward to summer and the beer garden.

Today we went to brunch in Schmellbachtal with our team. We were warmly welcomed, the atmosphere is warm and bright with lots of plants, just my thing. We celebrated our absolutely perfect dream wedding here! From the excellent service to the location to the food, everything was perfect without exception! Our guests were so excited, everyone praised the food because it wasn't the “0815 standard food at a wedding”. The children were also able to play in the large playground directly in front of the location. No wishes were left unfulfilled! We recommend the Schmellbachtal 100%!

So schöner Ort! Man spürt, dass in jeder Ecke Liebe steckt! Perfekt für private Veranstaltungen! Wir waren rundum im Glück!

Sehr nettes und engagiertes Personal, gute und ungewöhnliche Vorspeisen, super Burger von der Grillplatte. Schöne Location.

Das Essen war absolut spitze, von Maultasche über Kartoffelsalat und Burger mit Pommes alles lecker. Die süße pinsa und die Waffeln sind als Nachtisch definitiv zu empfehlen.

Danke für die Nachfrage zur Bewertung. Es sind wahrscheinlich 3-4 Sterne. Ich war mit einer Firmenfeier dort und ernähe mich vegan/vegetarisch. Was mich am Meisten angestrengt hat, war das Gefühl, dass ich mit meiner Ernährungsweise nicht so richtig willkommen bin. Mir wurde erzählt, dass der Koch, der den Grill bedient hat so etwas gesagt hat wie: "für mehr vegetarische Optionen ist kein Platz auf meinem Grill". Also es gab vegetarische Optionen, aber gefühlt so "notgedrungen". Ansonsten freundliches Servicepersonal und gute Location im/am Wald gelegen.

Update November 2023 Neu ist die Waldlaube im Schmellbachtal. Sehr gelungene Location, überdacht, im Warmen und mit angenehmen Holzduft. Neue herzhafte Wintergerichte und Wintergetränke die krachen. Klasse Location super Burger mit sehr gutem Service.

Die 2 Sterne gibt es für die schöne Natur. Das Essen ist zwar ganz gut (nicht der Renner), aber preislich eine Frechheit. Total überteuert für das, was man bekommt und sich sogar selbst mit langem Anstehen holen muss.... Normalverdiener sollten lieber in ein Restaurant gehen und danach einen schönen Walspaziergang machen! Das Servicepersonsl ist teilweise sehr freundlich, manch einer spricht aber kein Wort mit dem Kunden und kann nicht einmal grüssen.

Einfach immer wieder schön dort! Ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen. Der Biergarten im Sommer ist perfekt. Essen hat seinen Preis, ist aber fair. Das gesamte Paket „Schmelli“ ist für alle das Beste!

Im Rahmen einer Veranstaltung besuchte ich vor kurzen den Waldgasthof. Die angebotenen Speißen als auch die Getränke waren sehr gut und von hoher Qualität. Ebenfalls hervorzuheben ist die Freundlichkeit des Servicepersonals, wirklich top! Das Ambiente und das feeling dort sind ausgezeichnet. Bei einem Waldgasthof denk ich an viel Holz, urige dunkle Einrichtung. Dem war aber nicht so! Der Waldgasthof empfing uns in hellen freundlichen tönen und mit moderne chicer Einrichtung.

Schöner Biergarten mitten im Wald und mit wirklich toller Außenanlage für Kinder. Das Essen ist leider für einen Biergarten recht teuer und die Auswahl für Vegetarier/Veganer sehr traurig. Pommes, Salat und sehr teure vegetarische Maultaschen, die zu 80% mit Rührei gefüllt sind. Gemüse-Würstchen, Portion Linsen oder vielleicht ein Gemüseburger wären toll und in der heutigen Zeit absolut angebracht.

Tolle Event Location mitten im Grünen. Ich war auf einer Hochzeit dort und war begeistert von der tollen Ambiente und dem leckeren Essen. Es gibt neben der Eventlocation auch noch einen Biergarten und ein Klettergarten.

Sehr schöne Location und Ausflugsziel, mitten im Wald. Für Action ist auch gesorgt, der Klettergarten ist für groß und klein etwas. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und besonders. Der pulled pork Burger ist ist echt lecker und die BBQ - Maultaschen sind der Hammer. Das Freie WLAN ist auch eine gute Idee, da kann man gleich seine Erfahrungen teilen.

Wunderschöne Location, toll organisierte Events. Auswahl an Drinks sind top! Sehr nettes und zuvorkommendes Personal. Nervig sind die non stop fahrenden Bobby Cars der Kinder am Biergarten, eine Unterhaltung ist sehr anstrengend . Geht auf den wunderschönen Spielplatz dort ist so viel Platz um zu toben.

Vorab die Lage ist wirklich toll. Der Service ist nett, aber es gibt riesige Warteschlangen und enorme Wartezeiten bis man sein Essen erhält. Wir haben 4 Essen auf 2 Rechnungen bestellt (4mal dasselbe) und mussten auf die zweite Bestellung 25 Minuten länger warten wie auf die Erste, für dass das das Brötchen verbrannt war. Zudem ist der Außenbereich nicht sehr sauber und man riecht die Toilette bis zum Sitzbereich.

Kleiner Geheimtipp unter den Waldheim Gastronomen im Raum Stuttgart. Essen jedesmal Spitze und eine traumhafte Lage…

Fast perfekt. 😋 Erst nach deutlichem "Nachfragen", wurde das zu knapp berechnete Buffet beim Abendessen nachgefüllt. Die Qualität und der Geschmack des Essen, war dann allerdings durchgängig sehr gut 👍 .

Bester Burger seit langem!!! Danke an den Küchenchef

Wir waren schon öfters hier und haben auch im Juni unsere Hochzeit hier gefeiert. Das Essen (Grillmenü „Schwäbisch meets BBQ“) war herausragend gut, unsere Freunde schwärmen heute noch davon! Das Personal wat stets nett und zuvorkommend und hat auch kleinere spezielle Wünsche liebevoll umgesetzt. Und die Lage mitten im Wald mit Spielplatz und Bach war ideal für die Kinder und auch die Erwachsenen fanden es natürlich sehr schön!

Insgesamt ein guter Ort mit Kindern. Das parken direkt am Aufgang sollte grundsätzlich verboten sein. Hier fahren nämlich die Kinder mit den bereitgestellten Fahrzeugen (bobbycar etc), was wohlgemerkt top ist. Das Essen ist recht lecker und deutlich über dem Biergartendurchschnitt. Leider läuft der Service immer noch nicht so ganz rund. Es kommt immer wieder völlig unnötig zu endlosen schlangen in der prallen Sonne. Ein paar zusätzliche Schirme wären top, wenn sie das Problem im Service nicht lösen lässt. Das Ambiente wäre Mega toll, wenn man nicht immer wieder in einer gewissen Regelmäßigkeit von Fekalgeruch eingehüllt würde. Insbesondere im Bereich des Spielplatzes. Vielleicht kann der Betreiber die Hebeanlage optimieren oder von was auch immer der Geruch kommt. Dennoch eine klare Empfehlung vorallem für Familien.

Eigentlich wollte ich das Restaurant in höchsten Tönen loben den super Service die super frischen Speisen und die schöne Lokation. Manchmal reicht aber schon ein Besuch um das Gesamtbild komplett zu zerstören so auch heute. Die Küche macht um 12 Uhr auf bis dato war es nie ein Problem schon vorher seine Bestellung für einen Salat aufzugeben, aber nicht heute. 15 Minuten vor der Eröffnung der Küche habe ich eine weitere Bestellung aufgeben wollen inklusive dem Salat dies wurde aber durch den anwesenden Koch vehement abgelehnt und auf die 12 Uhr verwiesen nicht mal den Bon wollte er annehmen. Ich bin in sehr vielen Restaurants und Biergärten unterwegs aber so ein arrogantes und nicht kundenorientiertes Verhalten habe ich noch nie erlebt. Schade, aber manche Leute haben im Service nichts zu suchen.

Leckeres Essen und top Lage mitten im Wald

Das Schmelli hat sich seit dem letzten Jahr sehr gut weiterentwickelt. Sehr schönes Ambiente. Im Biergarten sind viele Sitzgelegenheiten dazugekommen vorallem um den Spielplatz herum. Das Essen ist immernoch sehr lecker. Wir gehen sehr gerne hier hin. Was ich noch nicht rausgefunden habe wann das Kaffee oben offen ist.

Super schöner Biergarten, super Ambiente. Die Portionsgrößen stehen in keinem Verhältnis zu den aufgerufenen Preisen. Es ist lecker ohne Frage, die Portionen sind meiner Meinung nach viel zu klein. Ich hatte die gegrillte Maultasche (pulled Pork) mit BBQ Kartoffelsalat.

Sehr schön gelegen mit großem Spielplatz und einem Klettergarten. Ideal für Familien mit Kindern. Der Service im Biergarten 🍺 war freundlich und flott.

Sehr schöner Platz zum Sitzen, der nach Jahrzehnten endlich zum Leben erweckt wurde. Draußen sitzt man wie in einem Biergarten sehr schön, mit viel Grün. Essen ist top, Getränke auch alles bestens, der Service ist freundlich und schnell. Absolute Empfehlung

Ich war mit meiner Familie wandern und wir kamen am Waldgasthof im Schmellbachtal vorbei. Wir haben spontan hier Mittagessen und wir waren sehr überrascht was sich hier alles verändert hat. Das Restaurant wurde sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und das Essen ist einfach mega lecker. Unsere Kinder waren fast die ganze Zeit auf dem Spielplatz der direkt daneben ist, einfach genial! Ein super Ausflugsziel für spontane oder geplante Wanderungen oder einfach ein gemütliches Abendessen/Mittagessen. Wir kommen sicher bald wieder wieder. Sehr empfehlenswert! 5 Stern 🌟

Wir haben sehr gut gegessen, getrunken inkl. Schnaps und ein sehr leckerer Nachtisch (Schokokuchen mit Eiskugel). Das Ambiente ist außergewöhnlich, die Bedienung sehr freundlich. Im Sommer ist es bestimmt noch schöner.

Burger: Konsisitenz wie fabrikmäßig hergestelltes Pressfleich durchgebraten und trocken mit seltsammem Beigeschmack. Salat wie aus der Dose. Fleisch soll angeblich von der „Bäuerlichen Erzeugergemeinschaft Schwäbisch-Hall“ stammen. Einzig die Pommes waren genießbar.

Alles wirklich hervorragend, wir kommen gerne wieder. Nette Location mit wirklich außergewöhnlichem Essen. Das Essen ist ehrlicherweise etwas teurer, solange es aber frisch und hausgemacht ist, aus meiner Sicht akzeptabel vom Preis her

Waren gestern zum Mittagessen im Schmellbachtal. Nachdem sogar in der Zeitung über die neuen Pächter und die tolle Küche geschrieben wurde waren wir neugierig. Das Wetter war nicht optimal und so war wenig los. Die Speisekarte ist klein und wir sind bei einem Cheeseburger und einem Salat mit Falafel gelandet. Cheeseburger ohne Beilage für über 10€ - da ist die Erwartungshaltung groß. Leider enttäuschte der Burger. Das Patty war grau und ohne jegliche Konsistenz oder Textur, es wirkte geradezu fabrikmässig. Dazu noch Komplett durchgebraten - vielleicht auch zum Glück. Garnierung war einfach, etwas senflastige Soße, ein Blättchen Salat und eine salzige Gurke. Der Preis war definitiv nicht angemessen. Der Salat für über 12€ war leider auch nicht wirklich besser. 4 Falafel und etwas Wildkräutersalat. Dazu ein paar Linsen - das ganze im Bowl-Style angerichtet, allerdings ohne ein schmeckbares Dressing. Das geht auch deutlich besser. Dazu zwei 0.2 Gläser aus der Kesselliebe-Serie für jeweils 6€. Ich hoffe dass wir einfach nur einen schlechten Tag erwischt haben - denn sonst zweifle ich an meinem Geschmack und meiner Einschätzung zu gastronomischer Qualität. Ob wir wiederkommen? Wenn - dann eher aus Zufall!

Tolle Location (Vorsicht - wird noch viel umgebaut) aber toll für Jung und Alt, toller Spielplatz und super Essen! Das war nicht das letzte Mal ☺️

Waren gestern zum Maultaschen essen im Schmellbachtal und es war nicht nur sehr lecker, sondern wir wurden auch sehr nett bedient und saßen gemütlich im Grünen. Top Ausflugsziel, für alle die gerne in der Natur sind und sich die Sonne ins Gesicht scheinen lassen mögen. Ich komme sicher mal wieder!

Wir kamen mit dem Rad an und haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt! Alle super lieb, gastfreundlich und das Essen ist ganz wunderbar. Wir hatten die Maultaschen und zum Nachtisch die unvergleichlichen Waffeln am Spieß. Getränkeauswahl ist auch hervorragend und für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Wir können es ganz klar weiterempfehlen. Es ist ein Ort zum entspannen und wohlfühlen. Gerne jederzeit wieder! ☺️
