Wow! Absolutely fantastic. I ate there for the first time. I was able to spend my birthday there with guests. We were all thrilled. Very delicious food. The prices are absolutely reasonable for what's on offer. The service was super friendly, and they even provided a highchair for our child right away. We really liked the ambiance, and there's plenty of parking. Reserving in advance would be a good idea. We'd be happy to go back :)

The food was really good. Great dishes, and everything freshly prepared. But apparently, we're living in a service desert these days. When booking the party, the hosts had specifically agreed with the chef that they would stay later than 10:00 PM ("open end"). However, on the day itself, they didn't want to hear about it. At 9:00 PM, you couldn't order three scoops of ice cream. At 9:30 PM, you couldn't order coffee either, citing the fact that the coffee machine was being cleaned for the next day. The last drinks order was taken at 9:45 PM. After 10:00 PM, we were asked to leave by an annoyed and extremely unfriendly waitress. I've never experienced such unfriendliness in a restaurant business. When the hosts said that they had also agreed on longer times with the chef, she just snapped at us and moaned that she had to work again the next day. This behavior brought the party to an undignified end. It was my first and last time there—even though the food itself was good.

Well, the restaurant was very busy that day. Our waitress was very nice and immediately told us that the food would probably take up to 45 minutes to arrive. We accepted this and sat down at a table outside. The chairs were leaning, so we set them up. No problem, and then another waitress barked at us from the inside dining area, saying that the chairs weren't leaning for nothing. ????? So? What was that supposed to tell us? That we should sit on the table??? We then noticed this with the third, very young waitress, who then said meekly in a squeaky voice: "The restaurant is overcrowded, there aren't enough people, and you should make sure that those seats with the leaning chairs aren't occupied." Well, they should have discussed this before speaking condescendingly to the guests. The food actually didn't arrive until about an hour later and, unfortunately, tasted bland. The beef, however, was tender as butter...👍 Still blandly seasoned. Both dishes. Unfortunately, the wait wasn't worth it. It was also too expensive. A shame. Service 3 stars only because the first lady was very friendly, and the young woman was also friendly.

I came across this restaurant more by chance and was initially a bit surprised by the old GDR name. But I quickly forgot about that, because their offerings were commendable. The food itself was truly excellent, and the service was prompt and friendly. When I'm back in this area, I'll only eat at the Volkshaus, where the selection and quality are a perfect match. A little joke to finish: Whenever dishes shatter in the kitchen and you hear someone shouting... "That was me!", that was Sissi, smiling friendly.

The name sounds a bit old-fashioned, but the restaurant is very good. The service is always friendly, and the food is consistently excellent (so it doesn't depend on the current mood). Reservations are absolutely essential. We go there quite often these days.

We were passing through on Whitsun Sunday. The restaurant was actually fully booked, but the staff managed to free up a table. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant.

I've always been there with a larger group. The staff handled it amazingly well. All the drinks and dishes arrived at the same time, and all piping hot. We sat outside each time, which was very pleasant. However, a glimpse inside seemed rather dark, even in summer. We also noticed that portion sizes can vary depending on the day you come.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Beautifully presented plates and good, rustic food. The cooking here is truly done with love. The prices have also remained reasonable over the years. I would definitely recommend it.

A very modern restaurant with ample parking behind it. There's also a lovely summer terrace and seating under the trees. The service is very warm and friendly. The German cuisine is excellent, both in terms of taste and appearance.

We were there for lunch on a Monday, and it was quite busy. The menu came very quickly, but ordering took a little longer, and the food took even longer to arrive. But that was the only minor annoyance. The asparagus dishes and the brawn were large and extremely tasty. We would definitely go back. I highly recommend this restaurant; you can also enjoy the wonderful outdoor seating.

Tucked away near the sports field, this restaurant stands out. It has a very modern interior, and the staff is friendly and personable. The menu has something for everyone, and the food is very good. We visited with our family and were delighted. We would be happy to return.

Went to the Volkshaus in Gommern for the first time and were very satisfied. The map is great and there is something for everyone. The prices are also completely ok. I had the veal liver and goat cheese as a starter. The liver was perfect and the mashed potatoes were also absolutely delicious. So we were completely satisfied and will definitely come back.

Nice staff, like the atmosphere, unfortunately the food wasn't really good. The duck breast was dry and very tasteless, the dollop of sauce couldn't save it. The liver OK, but not really good. But the highlight was a glass of tap water for 4.20 euros. So not again for me.

Chic ambience meets excellent cuisine. This is how the Volkshaus restaurant can be described briefly and concisely. My tip for Gommern. Other plus points: Parking available, card payment possible, very friendly service, stylish and clean toilets. Less nice: dogs are allowed into the restaurant. Luckily it was quiet when we visited. No wild yapping. We had a nice evening with friends. Reservation makes sense.
