Vesuvio in Lemgo

A truly fantastic restaurant where everything was just perfect. I was there with a group of 35 people. Making a last-minute reservation was no problem. The food (spaghetti tossed in a Parmesan wheel with grated black truffle) was absolutely delicious. If I'm ever back in Berlin, I'll definitely come back.

Update after 7 years: Visuvio Lemgo… We need to talk. There are restaurants that quietly accompany you through the years – and then there's Visuvio. Rustic, modern, down-to-earth, and yet surprisingly refined. A restaurant with a long tradition in Lemgo, and rightly so. I used to write that it was worth a visit. Now I say: I come because I simply can't help myself. The standard has risen – noticeably. The kitchen works precisely, deliberately, without any frills. The prices have increased, yes, but they are honest. Quality costs. And here, you can taste every penny. The pizza? A poem from the stone oven. Thin, crispy, hand-shaped, large enough to fill you up, and good enough that you still want to finish it all. That's how it should be. No avalanche of dough, no cheese coating – just genuine Italian craftsmanship. The service is like a well-oiled machine: professional, warm, attentive. No forced politeness, but genuine passion. This "amore" is palpable in every dish and every word you hear from the team. Family-friendly, patient, and genuine – that makes all the difference. The decor is pleasantly understated. Simple elegance meets rustic warmth. Nothing is trying to ostentatiously impress – and that's precisely why it works. A place where you sit down and immediately know: This is just right. In the small Hanseatic town of Lemgo, Visuvio is one of the true highlights. And if I had to choose between the town's two main restaurants, the decision was easy: Visuvio takes the lead. We had a delicious dinner this evening. It doesn't always have to be pizza: my daughter is vegetarian and was thoroughly satisfied. My wife had a lovely roulade, and my lamb fillet was very tender and subtly seasoned. The service, as always, was attentive yet unobtrusive.

The food was delicious and served quickly, the staff were very friendly and hardworking. I highly recommend it! 👍😊

I've known Vesuvio since I was a child, first on Breite Straße, then later on Papenstraße. The food was always great. My favorite pizza is the Italiana (for 30 years now). We often get it to go. This pizza always had garlic on it. It was always listed on the menu! They asked if you wanted it with or without garlic. Now the garlic isn't on the menu anymore, and if you order it with garlic, you get an extra €1.50 (€3 for two pizzas just for garlic that's been on this pizza for 30 years). Seriously???

Ordered takeout. It was ready on time, but when I got home, I noticed that a dish was missing. I drove back, and there was no apology. The food wasn't very hot to begin with, and it was cold when I got home. One dish was very tasty, but the others tasted more like frozen convenience food. Maybe it's different when you eat there. I won't order takeout again.

Great restaurant, top-notch food and service. The ambiance in the "old" part was a bit dated for our taste, but that's a matter of opinion. Being able to reserve a table for the same evening in the afternoon was great. Unfortunately, we were seated at the back, exposed to the cool draft from the open patio door, which couldn't be closed because there were guests sitting outside. It's a shame, as it unfortunately became unpleasantly drafty as the evening progressed. The price/performance ratio was absolutely fine for the quality and service.

Unbelievable value for money! Top-notch service, very attentive, and all of their little requests were perfectly fulfilled. The location is beautiful; my in-laws were here 30 years ago and loved it again. A must-visit in Lemgo! A wood-fired oven, just as it should be.

More show than substance. The place apparently thrives on a reputation I can't explain. The service was practically nonexistent – very inattentive. The ambiance was okay. The food was average at best. The (pizza!!!) knives were so blunt you could ride on them. Definitely not a repeat offender.

Remarkable in every respect. Here the guest is king. A wonderfully beautiful ambience, a Mediterranean menu that makes your heart beat faster, Italian flair and top-notch hospitality. And the food is above average and delicious. Portions are sufficient and the meat dishes are cooked to perfection. Starters, salads and pasta dishes are all tasty and recommendable. Our server (Bani) deserves a special mention. We have rarely experienced such service and treatment. There were eight of us at the table and when we ordered eight meals including starters, he was able to take the entire order without taking notes. And not a single dish was served incorrectly. First-class service. We would gladly come back.

A truly pleasant Italian restaurant. The overall concept works well, as all the elements are perfectly coordinated. The wait staff, dressed in simple yet stylish black, were very attentive. The table was beautifully set. The menu is elegant but not overly extensive. The food, from appetizer to dessert, was truly well-thought-out and full of subtle touches. Excellent! I am very satisfied and will definitely return when the opportunity arises.

A family-run Ristorante of high quality in a beautiful old house. You have to wait at the entrance to be taken to your table. An extensive selection of dishes plus daily recommendations await the guest. We chose a small salad and two pastas. The salad was fresh and crunchy, the pasta was of excellent quality, extremely tasty and plentiful. The dishes at the neighboring tables also looked very good. The dessert, on the other hand, was boring and way too expensive. For a large scoop of ice cream and some brittle without cream, €8.50 is far too expensive. We were missing some bread or pizza rolls with dip or herb butter beforehand. This should be common in a ristorante of this quality. At the end there was a grappa on the house. As in most restaurants, there is a lack of staff, so everything took a little longer. A clear recommendation from us.

Been there again and again for many years, quality and taste are no longer what they used to be, neither are the prices. To this day I still don't understand why people would trip themselves up with such a long menu.

Unfortunately, we smelled of smoke throughout our meal....The pick-up people are standing outside and smoking....Never again! Something like that doesn't work when you eat in a restaurant. My pizza tasted like it was warmed up and we had to leave on time after 2 hours... The next round started in the pizzeria... That's not what a comfortable visit looks like... Unfortunately, thumbs down...

Really great food, not just run of the mill, great service, nice atmosphere, prices okay!!

First of all: food was very tasty, prices (except for drinks) were reasonable. BUT: To charge €1 per box for every pizza that hasn't been eaten and you want to take away so that the food doesn't get thrown away, and to insist on it, is absolutely outrageous. Charging a smaller children's pizza with a discount of just €1 (€14 instead of €15) is extremely bold. Tiramisu, which you would like to take with you as dessert, is carelessly slapped into a plastic bowl, which is a real shame. All of this left an absolutely bad aftertaste and the evening was remembered unnecessarily negatively by everyone involved. Too bad!

An absolute favorite restaurant! As soon as you enter you feel welcome - the ambience is stylish, cozy and invites you to linger. The food is a delight: delicately seasoned, lovingly prepared and simply delicious. This also fits price-performance ✅ The entire team is professional and warm at the same time. The food is very good, but the service was sometimes very questionable. Wine glasses were touched on the edge of the glass, orders were sometimes only half taken and then you had to wait a long time for the next order, drinks were not poured, no questions were asked about whether the food was tasty, the wrong pasta was delivered so that I was finished with the main course when the right ones came. The fact that you got the bill without asking, but you didn't want to order anything else, was very strange and incomprehensible for someone like me who works in the catering industry. We won't be coming back for a while. Too bad

A very good Italian, I'm very picky about food and still feel like I would love every dish there. Price definitely matches the performance. The staff is very professional and we are very impressed by the atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. We also accept a longer journey for this.

Schönes Restaurant, leckeres Essen. Wir hatten Bruschetta, Spaghetti Frutti di Mare und einen Salat. Sehr lecker und der Service war ebenfalls prima. Wir kommen wieder.

Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, excellent food. In any case, take the daily menu/board into account - here you will sometimes find dishes that will take your breath away. Especially in autumn, pumpkin gnocchi with chanterelles are offered here - absolutely amazing.

Was recently in Vesuvio and have to say, the pizza was really delicious! The dough was nice and crispy and the ingredients were really fresh – really a very, very good pizza. The service was also really good. The staff were super attentive and friendly, and the food came to the table really quickly. We hardly had to wait, that was really great. Can only recommend the Vesuvio. Great pizza, nice service – just great!

Reservierung im Vorfeld hat für 4 Personen funktioniert. Netter Tisch, aufmerksamer und kompetenter Service. Ein freundlicher Kellner, der sich bei einer üppigen Speisekarte alles inkl. Sonderwünsche merken und auch liefern kann, dem gehört mein besonderer Respekt. Ein hatten Vorspeisen, Pasta, Fleischgerichte mit Gemüse ... alles ohne Beanstandungen, mehr noch, richtig lecker. Wir kommen aus einer verwöhnten Großstadt und würden mit Schwiegereltern jederzeit wiederkommen. Der Laden hat einfach überzeugt.

Top food, top service, top ambience.

We ordered pasta dishes to pick up because we don't live nearby. The noodles weren't worth the money and we had gastrointestinal problems the next day. The atmosphere is great, the people are very friendly, but they can't take pasta away from home.

Tortellini: My husband is sitting on the toilet with stomach cramps Bolognese: far dry, crumbly, tasted like cheese Pasta Pomodori: Fart dry, no taste, everything soggy The absolute worst pasta I've eaten in the last 20 years. Unfortunately we ordered takeout. We had to eat on the way. We would have preferred to turn around and complain. The people and the atmosphere are great. The chef can't cook. We're still shaking. It was just disgusting

We went to Vesuvio three times at the weekend. The first, last and only time with just one visit. Based on the reviews and other recommendations, expectations were quite high, but were in no way met. Some of the dishes were good, others were rather satisfying because they were served lukewarm and had a dry consistency. We know this much better in our favorite Italian restaurant in Detmold. The service was a disaster. Instead of one starter for two people to share, two were delivered. A reorder of drinks was not brought, but also not charged, and another reorder was not even possible because no one showed up. Overall, the waiter skillfully ignored us and instead set tables that were no longer needed. The table to our right was similarly poorly served, the table to the left was much more attentive. We skipped dessert because we didn't feel well overall. You probably have to be a regular here to be welcomed. The ambience itself is very nice, but the positioning of the tables means there is no privacy at all. The background music is penetrating, loud and unworthy of an Italian restaurant. Last but not least, we noticed unpleasantly that the waiter, who had previously ignored us, pointed out that we could pay his tip by card. We're usually happy to do this, but only in cash and we even left one here.

We had a lovely evening. Our food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very popular. Plenty of choice on the menu. My food was a bit spicy, which was excused after a complaint with a delicious dessert. We would be happy to come back 😊

The Vesuvio in Lemgo is always worth a visit - regardless of whether you are meeting there with friends, family or business partners or whether you are taking treats home with you. The pizza from the traditional oven is certainly one of the highlights. You should also try the recommendations, which change approximately every month. The Canetti family has known how to be great hosts in Lemgo for several generations!
