Great service, great location, great food... would love to come again.

We went there for dinner on Sunday with the Edeka staff. We were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. The service was very attentive, and drinks and food were served promptly. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The dessert was also very good and lovingly decorated. The staff is incredibly welcoming. You feel at home from the moment you arrive. The prices are also very reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

We had a wonderful evening here last week. The appetizers, main courses, and dessert were fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive. I can wholeheartedly recommend Vecchio Mulino. There is ample parking available thanks to the neighboring supermarket; however, parking is limited to 2.5 hours and monitored by cameras. Therefore, here's a tip: if you drive around the supermarket, you'll find a free public parking lot. You can park there for longer and enjoy your evening at Vecchio Mulino without any stress.

We wanted to try a new Italian restaurant in the area and chose the "Alte Mühle," or Vecchio Mulino. The ambiance was lovely, decorated with great attention to detail. The food was delicious and exactly to our taste. The wine selection was also excellent, and the espresso was very good as well. The service was friendly and attentive—no complaints whatsoever. No long waits—everything was just as it should be. In short: This is how hospitality should be. Thank you for the two wonderful evenings we've spent at Vecchio Mulino so far. We'll be back.

For us, Vecchio Mulino is by far the best Italian restaurant in the entire area. The quality of the dishes is outstanding – from the creative appetizers to the freshly prepared main courses and the heavenly desserts, you can taste the team's passion everywhere. As truffle lovers, we feel especially at home here: The truffle dishes are perfectly balanced, aromatic, and always a highlight on the menu. We're moving from Mainz to Nieder-Olm soon – and quite honestly, Vecchio Mulino was definitely a big factor in our decision. Having such a fantastic restaurant right around the corner makes us even more excited for the move 😉 Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine!

November 21, 2025: Why is there only one pizza size, 31 cm? There are also people who can't eat that much. That doesn't change even if the leftovers are nicely packaged. November 22, 2025: Thank you for your quick reply. Oh yes, I did ask your server for a smaller pizza. She said she would check, but unfortunately, she never came back! The young man who took the order then said: There's only one size!!! Tough luck.

I went without a reservation and waited no more than 10 minutes for a table, and the staff was so kind they offered me a beer while I waited. The staff's professionalism continued throughout the dinner; they were always kind and helpful. The quality of the food and the presentation were excellent! I had the lamb chops (which I highly recommend), perfectly cooked and with a bold flavor. They paired beautifully with the side dishes, and the portion was generous. I finished with a chocolate cake for dessert, which was equally appreciated. For those who complain about the wait... if you want good food presented beautifully, you have to be patient! In any case, from my experience, I can say that the wait wasn't excessive at all. The place is very beautiful and well-decorated. I'll be back and definitely recommend it!

The food was made with care and passion.

We were, as always, completely satisfied. Today we opted for sea bream and Pizza Stefano. Followed by tartufo and panna cotta. Visually stunning once again. A perfect end to our honeymoon.

Still the best Italian restaurant in the area, but unfortunately, it takes an incredibly long time to order and for the food to arrive at the table. They're practically always understaffed. Still, lots of love for this restaurant; we're always delighted with the fantastic food.

Our evening yesterday was wonderful. The ambiance is simply beautiful, both outside in the summer and inside on one of the two floors during the colder months. It's an old building with a modern twist. The food is also very good. Whether it's pizza, pasta, or steak, nothing has ever disappointed us here. And the service was equally courteous, attentive, and very friendly. Even our dog was offered water 🙂

Today was our first time there, a group of four, and we were absolutely thrilled. The starter, main course, and dessert were world-class! The ambiance and service were top-notch. We'll be back!

Yesterday, four of us went to Vecchio Mulino. The service was very friendly, and our reserved table was ready. But we would have been seated even without a reservation. The food came really, really quickly. Fantastic! It tasted amazing, both pizza and pasta...the only downside was that the pizza we ordered came without the requested ham...but they offered a big apology for that in the form of two desserts at the end. TOP! Thank you so much, it was delicious. We'll be happy to come back again.

We've eaten here several times now and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed yesterday. It took quite a while before we were even allowed to order, drinks were forgotten, and worst of all, we had to wait an hour for our main course. It only arrived after we asked for it. The food was excellent, but the service was, unfortunately, more than disappointing.

...was there for lunch today. The food is really delicious - but the service... after about 25 minutes, I asked for drinks, and after another 25 minutes, the food order was taken. So far, so good... then the bombshell: I ordered dessert with espresso, and after about 30 minutes, I only got the espresso and was told they didn't have any dessert because the kitchen was closed. Unbelievable, especially since a tiramisu was supposed to be almost ready in the fridge... even if the food is okay, this service isn't good for my blood pressure. I'd rather go somewhere else... What a pity. P.S. I think they've got me confused. I called the waiter specifically because my wife was still eating... no one asked me. But okay, I'll let it go.

Highly recommended! I had the homemade ravioli and my boyfriend had the lasagna. Both were indescribably good and simply unbeatable. The atmosphere is wonderful, and you can really spend a great evening here. The owner was equally accommodating, and you can tell he's passionate about what he does. Our waitress was also really friendly and guided us through the evening very well. I've been coming here for years now and will continue to make this restaurant my go-to date night. It's sad when they mistakenly park in the parking spaces right in front of the door that are free in the evening. They belong to Rewe, which has hired Parkdepot, a shady money-collection machine. Not to mention the city of Nieder-Olm's failure to provide sufficient parking spaces for the infrastructure provided. The operator should urgently seek a joint solution with its neighbor... or provide enough parking spaces themselves!

The food at Vecchio Mulino was good. Unfortunately, the service wasn't. Hot, greasy grilled vegetables spilled all over my partner's pants. There was a curt apology, and when he tried to push the remaining vegetables from the table into the bowl, the next portion of vegetables landed on his pants (which were freshly washed and ironed). No offer was made to dry the pants or cover the cost, let alone an espresso on the house. That should be standard. Too bad, we'll take our time next time...

The food was truly delicious and flavorful on both visits. Unfortunately, this positive impression was somewhat dampened by the service. On both visits, the flow at the table was quite chaotic: Orders were repeatedly forgotten, the drink service was irregular and slow, and the timing of the food was unfortunate – some of the table had already finished eating while others were still waiting for their food. Furthermore, the tables were already being cleared while the food was still being eaten. While the service seems to be trying, it unfortunately can't quite keep up with the quality of the food.

We've been coming here regularly for years to celebrate with family. Everything has always been delicious, the staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is family-friendly, and the prices are reasonable. We're always happy to come back.

We've enjoyed being guests here for years. Over the past year, not only has the food quality declined significantly, but the service has become downright abysmal. Untrained, inattentive staff, forgetting orders, if you even get the chance to order. This was our last visit for a while. I hope the team can turn things around and make Vecchio Mulino one of the region's top culinary destinations again.

Even the appetizers were a highlight: The vitello tonnato was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the truffle carpaccio was simply divine. The main course was homemade tagliatelle – al dente, with an incredibly aromatic sauce. You can feel the love that goes into the cooking here. We'll definitely be back!

The food is truly delicious and of high quality. We've eaten the pizza and pasta dishes several times. The service, however, is truly abysmal. Long waits, unfriendly manners, and sometimes even questionable statements regarding reservations: "There were no more tables available," which was obviously not correct. (We waited.) They were also very inattentive when it came to empty drinks. The staff could really use a course or training on restaurant etiquette.

What a shame. The kitchen delivers. Fried octopus, rump steak cooked to perfection, great pizzas and delicious desserts... absolutely recommended! But the service, my goodness! The lady at the beginning was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, her colleague took over. Completely uncommunicative and inattentive. We had to order a second bottle of wine at the bar because no waiter came to the table. And we were only able to order dessert because we approached the waiter ourselves. Very disappointing. To top it all off, the bill was brought to the table shortly before 10 p.m. without any warning because they were about to close. Without asking whether a digestif would be desired or anything like that. I've never experienced that before. We had guests with us, so you definitely imagine the service to be different. Perhaps the waiter should work in the warehouse, where he doesn't have to deal with people. Great food, terrible service. A shame.
