A culinary hidden gem in Essen Überruhr (Holthausen). This restaurant has a very small menu (usually 3 to 4 different dishes and almost always 5 different types of schnitzel; Thursday is schnitzel day). The changing main courses keep things interesting! It's Polish-run by a lovely person who cooks with heart and soul and is always there for her guests. If you like good schnitzel, love Polish cuisine (especially in autumn and winter), and aren't bothered by a small menu written on a slate board, then this is the place for you. Small, good restaurants are almost nonexistent these days! BUT, tastes vary, and that's something to keep in mind. But you should definitely give it a try.
