Trattoria Modena in Heddesheim

I'm giving three stars for the ambiance because the restaurant looked quite alright at first glance. Unfortunately, I couldn't rate the food because I didn't even get to eat. I'd like to explain the one star for service in more detail: My mother's birthday is on December 5th, and she booked a table at this restaurant for the occasion. The reservation was for four people. So far, so good. Since my partner and I had to cancel our babysitter at the last minute, we brought our children (12 and 5) with us. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were "greeted" by a seemingly very grumpy owner. The "greeting" consisted of him turning his head away from a screen he was engrossed in. My mother explained that we had a reservation for four. The issue of having two additional children with us was also immediately mentioned. When we asked if it would be possible to add two more chairs to the table, the only reply was, "We're full!" When we asked again if there was any way we could all eat together, the answer was the same: "No. We're full!" Then the owner's head fell and he was engrossed in his screen again. So there we stood, unsure what to do next. Since we were no longer being acknowledged at all, we left the restaurant. At that time, around 6:00 PM, the restaurant was definitely not full. There were plenty of empty chairs in the room, enough to easily "borrow" two for an hour. Anyway, we called the Akropolis and got a table for six without any problems and completely spontaneously. So, once was Trattoria Modena, and never again. Shout out to what is probably the least customer-oriented restaurateur of 2025!

Years ago, we were in Heddesheim, just to give another restaurant in the area a try, and I didn't like it – and today I was disappointed again. Despite calling and confirming that there would be space for both of us, we had to wait 10 minutes. This was sweetened (which was very nice) with a glass of Prosecco. We could have ordered quite quickly, but then we waited an hour for our food (pizza/steak). Both were disappointing: The pizza tasted good to us, but it looked like a "Wagner" from the supermarket! The rump steak was a) tasteless b) super thin (less than 1 cm) c) almost cooked, rather than medium. The accompanying balsamic sauce was actually just thickened vinegar and completely covered the plate, including the cheap pasta, in a brown mass; it didn't look nice and was unfortunately quite sour. Overall, the "steak" was absolutely nothing for almost 30 euros! The beer garden itself is quite nice – typical classic wooden seating. Some decoration would have been nice, but OK. Regulars are served very loudly and preferentially, which I found a bit annoying, but acceptable – they seem to like the overall arrangement... During our visit, the dogs we brought with us were very friendly. A barking duel ensued – unfortunately, the owner couldn't prevent this, but it didn't contribute to the overall well-being. Conclusion: second and last visit

Delicious Italian cuisine. Homemade pasta, daily specials in addition to the menu. A beautiful garden with a cozy atmosphere in the vaulted cellar. Nino, the owner and creative mind behind the restaurant, is always there for his guests!

We celebrated a birthday at Trattoria Modena – and were absolutely thrilled! The service was warm and attentive, and the food simply fantastic. The penne was perfectly al dente, the pizza was wonderfully thin and crispy, and the pinsa as a starter was highly recommended. The tiramisu variation at the end was the icing on the cake. A particularly nice touch: Our dog, Dieter, was warmly welcomed – a real plus for the dog-friendliness! Many thanks to the entire team – we'll be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The trattoria has a beautiful beer garden with large trees. It's more than pleasant in the summer. The restaurant is located in the basement and has a Mediterranean style. The pictures on the wall depict the owner, Nino's hometown of Apulia. Nino's cooking cannot be described; it has to be experienced! Okay, the food at Trattoria Modena isn't cheap, but it's always top-quality at a reasonable price, and special requests can be accommodated upon request. So, if you want to enjoy good, authentic Italian food, you should stop by Nino's. Reservations are recommended, though.

Mega delicious pizza, the friendliest and most attentive staff you could wish for and a nice atmosphere! Drinks were on the table in less than 5 minutes and the pizzas in under 15 minutes - great!!!!! Unfortunately it's not around the corner from us, but we'll definitely be back!

Pizza extremely bad, frozen pizza would have been a better choice, greasy, thin base, no mozzarella despite asking. Disgraceful, absolutely not recommended! Seafood pasta also bad, with a large piece of backbone… no comment. Industrial pasta sold as homemade. Rarely have I fallen in like this! Service was friendly, atmosphere like in a cellar. It's a shame, we were looking forward to a nice evening, choosing the restaurant based on the reviews.

We were able to celebrate a larger party with 30 people at the Trattoria Modena. The 4-course menu was really very tasty and the service was perfect. All guests were completely satisfied. An absolute recommendation!

Der tolle Biergarten lädt im Sommer zum verweilen ein. Die Gaststube im UG ist okay aber nichts im Vergleich zum Aussenbereich. Essen ist sehr fein und echt lecker!

Essen gut - Hygiene mangelhaft. Die Pizzen sind groß und sehr gut, Ambiente vor allem draußen sehr angenehm, Nudelgerichte sind verglichen zu den Pizzen verhältnismäßig teuer, da man viel weniger bekommt. Als erwachsener Mann wird man von der Nudelportion nicht satt. Bedienung nett, allerdings finde ich es nicht passend, dass sie in normalen Straßenklamotten arbeiten. Genau wie in der Küche. Der Chef sollte Arbeitskleidung bereitstellen. Ich hatte die ganze Zeit direkte Sicht auf die Küche und muss sagen, dass ich kein zweites Mal dort essen werde. Es gibt gewisse Basishygienevorschriften, die einfach einzuhalten sind. Erst mal natürlich die nicht vorhandene Arbeitskleidung. Ich habe beobachtet, wie einer der Köche draußen rauchen geht und dann direkt mit den selben Klamotten wieder weitergekocht hat. Das wäre in der Kantine in der ich mal gearbeitet habe undenkbar. Dann hat kein einziger von denen ein Haarnetz getragen. Die HACCP-Richtlinien schreiben das Tragen einer Kopfbedeckung im professionellen Umgang mit Lebensmitteln vor, um die Verunreinigung der Lebensmittel zu verhindern. Was ist so schwer daran? Eine langhaarige Köchin hat sich dauernd mit den Händen durch die Haare gestrichen, an den Nägeln gekaut und in der Küche gegessen. Das ist ein absolutes No-Go. Eine der Bedienungen hat mit der bloßen Hand Brot geschnitten und Eiswürfel in die Gläser getan. Das ist dasselbe, wie wenn man mit dem Finger im Getränk rumrühren würde. Der Chef stand genau daneben und den störte das alles genau so wenig. Ironischerweise hängen an jeder Ecke Schilder die zum Händedesinfizieren auffordern... Ich bin mir sicher, dass der Chef die Basishygieneregeln kennt, aber einfach keine Notwenigkeit sieht diese umzusetzen. Bitte haben Sie etwas Respekt den Gästen gegenüber.

Gute Pizza im traditionellen Stil. Die Pizzaria ist im Ratskeller. Ansprechende Atmosphäre und angenehme, schnelle Bedienung. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Pizza Quadroformagi & Salami,Pilze waren lecker, Preise an der Grenze (aber heutzutage leider normal), sehr schöner Biergarten, nur leider ist das Personal nicht so auf zack und bei vollem Biergarten eine Bedienung zu wenig. Aber insgesamt auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert 👍🏻

Gute Italiener mitten in Heddesheim. Das mehrgängige Menü ist für diesen Preis unschlagbar. Qualität absolut top. Fisch und Fleisch auf den Punkt zubereitet. Kommen immer wieder gerne in's Modena.

Gemütlicher Atmosphaere im Gewoelbekeller. Wir hatten uns für das Menue entschieden und waren begeistert.Promi und Secondo waren lecker, das Rinderfilet butterzart. Solch danach gehen immer.und das alles für relativ wenig Geld.Wir kommen gerne wieder.
