Simple, authentic, delicious. I'd gladly come again.

I was very disappointed with my visit. While the food was okay, the service significantly detracted from the overall experience. The staff seemed inattentive and unfriendly, and we had to wait unnecessarily long both to order and to pay. What struck me as particularly negative was the way they handled guests with simple special requests – for example, extra Parmesan or chili oil. Instead of accommodating them politely, the staff reacted with irritation and unprofessionalism. Such minor requests shouldn't be a problem in a restaurant and are simply part of good service. Overall, the visit was unfortunately not a pleasant experience, and I'm not sure if I'll return.

The restaurant transports guests to a magical world, like something out of a Cornelia Funke novel. The lighting, the plants, and the owners' souvenirs create a unique and authentic ambiance without being kitschy. The service is personally provided by the owner, who is always cracking jokes and entertaining. The food is excellent. Typical trattoria cuisine, freshly and expertly prepared. We also enjoyed the wines. The prices are rather high, but reasonable for similar restaurants in Munich. The portions are generous. We had a lovely evening and will definitely return. Thank you to Fausto and the kitchen team.

The ambiance is truly romantic, but unfortunately, my experience was completely overshadowed. I simply wanted to enhance my dish with a little chili oil—whereupon the chef loudly lectured me in front of all the guests, telling me I was "ruining" his food. He added that if I ruined it with oil, why bothered to employ his chef at all? He could just save himself the expense of his chef. I was genuinely shocked by his tone and the way he treated guests. It completely ruined my evening. Taste is subjective—and guests should be treated accordingly. Good food alone isn't enough if it lacks respect, warmth, and professionalism.

I witnessed highly inappropriate behavior from the restaurant owner. A young woman was loudly and condescendingly yelled at for a comment about the spices. This behavior was completely unacceptable and destroyed any respectful atmosphere in the dining room. Regardless of taste or opinion, a respectful and professional tone should always prevail in a restaurant – both towards guests and staff or other patrons. The owner's behavior was outrageous and overshadowed the entire experience. Good food alone is not enough when people are treated with such disrespect. I therefore cannot recommend this restaurant.

Mr. Fausto is incredible and always has a story to tell. That's exactly how I imagine a host of an Italian restaurant 🍴 should be. The ambiance is captivating from the very first moment. The food was superb 👌 and the wine recommendation was perfect. If I'm ever in Munich again, I'll definitely stop by. Thanks for the lovely evening.

We came here twice, everytime is the best option to do for dinner!

We just witnessed blatant discrimination! We were turned away from this restaurant as tradesmen because we were wearing "dirty clothes," with the explanation that we would soil the seating and other guests would then leave a bad review. This is how you feel as a tradesman, like a third-class citizen! Thanks to Munich's high society! I hope enough ordinary people read this and stay away from the place so the top ten thousand can keep to themselves, and hopefully Fausto never needs a tradesman like us!

Trattoria Da Fausto offers delicious Italian cuisine and fresh seafood. The atmosphere is cozy and typically Italian, ideal for a relaxed lunch or dinner. One minor drawback: It can sometimes get a bit crowded, and the wait for a table can occasionally be longer. Nevertheless, it's a very pleasant restaurant with delicious food!

A definite NO! If you want to spend a lot of money and still leave the restaurant hungry, then this is the place for you! With terrible service! Since it shouldn't be like this, it can't be recommended. Salad with chanterelles: €18.50. The problem: in other restaurants, the portion size they offer isn't even a side salad! The service is artificial. Without a reservation, you're seated right in front of the entrance with the excuse that there are no other tables available. Two minutes later, other customers without reservations are seated at "nice" tables. There are many good restaurants in the area. Better to do some more research online.

The food is good, authentic, fresh, and prepared with love. The chef and his wife are incredibly welcoming and make a visit truly special. The decor, with its many plants, creates a cozy, charming atmosphere that's hard to find anywhere else. A place with character, flavor, and a whole lot of heart, absolutely recommended!

We celebrated our anniversary there and were guided through the evening with a wonderfully witty and loving manner. If you're looking for a true Italian with character, this is the place for you. The food is good – very good! The prices are absolutely fair, and what you get on your plate fully meets your expectations. Classic Italian cuisine without any unnecessary frills – simply authentic, fresh, and delicious. The portion sizes are also more than adequate. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. You just have to get involved, sit back, and enjoy – then this place unfolds its full magic.

Very unfriendly and dirty. The food is nothing special. The boss and his wife feel like they're a strict restaurant. I also noticed how he treats his employees...horrible. Never again

Came to this place at 8pm, there we a couple of free tables for 4 people, I asked to be seated and they rejected as they are waiting for people to come (there were no reservation signs), so I assume they just didn’t want to loose the opportunity to make more money of the bigger company will arrive. Instead, I was suggested to go to some bar for drinks and wait for 30 mins, then get back to this place and MAYBE they will find something for me, maybe! lol

Once a year, during Expo Real, I always make time to eat at Trattoria da Fausto, and it's a highlight every year! A wonderful, cozy atmosphere, a very friendly owner, and fantastic food. I'm happy to go back every year!

Worst restaurant visit we've ever experienced!!! I went there with a friend. Initially, we were very impressed by the ambiance. However, it quickly became clear that we weren't welcome there. It started with the food order. After my friend had ordered, the manager wanted to leave without even taking my order. When I asked what vegetables were on the vegetarian pizza, I got the answer "yes, vegetables," and they couldn't tell me which one. After five minutes, I wanted to ask if I could order something else if it wasn't too much trouble. We were first ignored and then rudely interrupted and told that we were NOT at McDonald's! His wife then allowed us to change our order again. Then we got our drinks... and we were warned that if we spilled the glasses, we would be charged double. At first, we thought this was meant as a joke... but it wasn't. When my friend's food arrived and I only wanted to try it with a fork, we were loudly told that they were Posh and that's not what you do here! We were then handed two small plates. The food was quite okay. The bread, which the chef said was part of the table setting, we didn't get despite asking, but we paid for it?! I also wondered: In what posh restaurant do you have to get up and go to the cash register to pay? I'm not used to that! When we finally paid, we were once again treated like fools and laughed at. In the end, we can say that this "posh restaurant" is absolutely not recommended. We advise the hosts to learn how to treat their guests and fellow human beings. The hosts definitely ruined our lovely evening!

obed: ⸻ We visited Trattoria da Fausto with my boyfriend for lunch and I have to say it was an amazing experience. We tried the soup, pizza, and pasta – everything was more than excellent, both in taste and quality. The restaurant has beautiful and cozy interiors, and we felt very comfortable here. The staff was not only professional but also funny, which made our lunch even more enjoyable. The only regret is that we didn’t have any room left for dessert – I’m sure it would have been just as phenomenal as the rest of the dishes. We definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine.

For me, Trattoria da Fausto is the first address when it comes to Italian cuisine in Munich! 🍝✨ The dishes are fresh, skillfully prepared, and simply divine in taste. The service is extremely friendly and attentive, making you feel immediately at home. A place where you can experience pure Italian hospitality and enjoyment. Highly recommended!

Two of us were there for lunch today. There were only two small tables occupied. However, because we were wearing clean work clothes, we were very firmly asked to leave the restaurant. The other guests would have been bothered by this... Your further comments are arrogant. Paying customers are obviously worthless to you. Unfortunately, I only read the reviews afterward. This isn't an isolated incident, and I'm curious to hear your unfriendly response, just like the others (we also decided not to go to McDonald's because we value good food).

I celebrated my birthday at Trattoria da Fausto, and it was simply unforgettable! 🎉 The food was absolutely outstanding and, for me, the best Italian food in the entire Munich area. Every course was a delight, freshly prepared, and full of flavor. The service was incredibly warm and attentive; I immediately felt at home. As a highlight, they even sang a birthday song for me, there were fireworks, and a wonderful atmosphere. I couldn't have wished for a better evening. A huge thank you to the entire team. I will definitely be back and can highly recommend Trattoria da Fausto!

I've been a regular for years, back in the Schönstrasse days and now in Schwabing. Best bologna in town, pizza and fish always very good! And the boss is simply the boss, authentic and personable! Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, our visit wasn't that special. I ordered veal medallions, and unfortunately, they were very tough, like leather, and almost impossible to swallow. Furthermore, the owner spoke condescendingly, bragging about his wife's golf club flags and how expensive each one was, instead of addressing our concerns.

Very warm welcome, delicious dishes, generous and cooked with great finesse. We will be back!

Yesterday, my girlfriend and I went there to eat with our 6-year-old because we'd heard it was a great, authentic restaurant. But as soon as we entered, we had our first slightly awkward moment. It arose when we asked if there was any outside seating. He then told us we should go to McDonald's. After that, he made a few less funny "jokes," but otherwise, the food, service, and atmosphere were very nice.

Best food in Munich and best Italian food we've had anywhere, including Italy. Fish ragu pasta was out of this world, fantastic together with the salmon pasta with lobster sauce. Tiramisu was good with slight almond taste.

I went a few months ago but only now got around to writing this… the place had such authentic vibes! The service was lovely, the owner super kind and even offered a complimentary shot. The 5-course set menu is a must: filling, delicious, and genuinely authentic. Had a great night overall!

Wow... I've rarely seen such a wonderful restaurant, especially in Munich! It's truly a place to unwind—as if you were on vacation in Italy and had stumbled upon a smaller, yet very fine family-run restaurant on a side street. From the moment you entered the shop to the moment you left, everything was very familiar, and the food was excellent—I don't know what else to say. It's best if you stop by yourself. Four of us were there yesterday, and every single one of us was absolutely thrilled. Highly recommended! 🤍

We had dinner at this restaurant to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We ordered two tagliatelle (with duck and with salmon), bruschette and tiramisu. They were all great. The staff speaks English very well and they were all very kind (which is very rare in my experience in Munich so far). One of the staff, I think he was the owner, sang a birthday song for my girlfriend when bringing the desert, it was so sweet that he spent effort for this! Prices are reasonable and the portions were enough for us. Also, the restaurant has a very good atmosphere. Overall, we had a great experience and will definetely come back!

This is our 6th visit — a must when we are in Munich. It has the feel of a quiet neighborhood restaurant on a leafy boulevard. The Italian food is superb, both those items on the printed menu and those on the portable chalkboard. On the night we were there they were down a person in the kitchen so they deliberately did not fill all the tables. Some walk-ins were disappointed that they were turned away. I wish more restaurants did that. Note: their online reservation isn’t really set up. Definitely call for reservations by phone.

Be patient... The owner is completely eccentric and talks endlessly about his divorces, finances, and everything else. Nothing else happens in the restaurant during that time, as he's the only one taking orders. A disaster. The interior is also incredibly outdated.

Small but very fine restaurant. The ceiling grown with plants gives a special look and at the same time coziness. The food was good. First a disappointment: unfortunately the monkfish we ordered wasn't available, we had to reorder. But pizza, veal liver and calamari were very good, just the portions weren't that big. So you need an appetizer to fill you up. Service was very nice, and very child-oriented. A highly recommended Italian!

Highly recommend this remarkable italian restaurant. Very cozy atmosphere and unique interior with calm and relaxing music. Food was irresistibly delicious and was delivered pretty fast. The subtle lights were suitable for the general vibe of this place. I would also like to mention the original way they congratulate birthdays, the owner sang himself and gifted a scrumptious dessert.

What a treat to eat here! The colorful owner welcomes you with Italian flair, the restaurant looks beautiful with old frescoes, soft lighting and a ceiling with plants. Delicious food: duck carpaccio as a starter, tender veal in a lemon gravy as a main course. In between the bruschetta (perfectly flavoured) and tiramisu based on macaroons. Clearly an experienced chef is working here with great pleasure.

Unfortunately, with craftsmen's clothing, we were thrown out today. Yes, we were told: take it with you only, there are people with ties hanging around there. My heart is bleeding. We were also very clean, but…I dunno…it's the first time! Awkward…

I wanted to give my mother a nice evening for her birthday today and we were immediately greeted unfriendly by the innkeeper. I told him normally in German that we had made a reservation in my name at 6 p.m. When he led us to the table we were asked whether we spoke German or English because my mother and I looked foreign. Although we spoke to him in German before. When asked what we would like to drink, my mother wanted to order a Hugo, to which she was told that we would get it at Odeonsplatz. I found this comment very rude but I didn't say anything about it for my mother's sake. When my mother asked for an alternative to a Hugo, she was suggested a drink, but she wanted to know exactly what it was, but again only the name was mentioned without explaining/describing it. When we placed our orders we only wanted an appetizer and our two main courses. However, we got two starters, which I overlooked. However, when we both got the wrong main course, I went up to him and complained about the wrong main course. The only answer I got was that he wasn't stupid and he knew what I had ordered. Only when I insisted that we hadn't ordered that did I get the answer that it wasn't a problem but that we would just have to wait. Which isn't a problem in itself, but the sound plays a crucial role here, which the owner obviously doesn't have. Ultimately, we were given the feeling that we were not welcome in his restaurant because of our foreign appearance. In my opinion, this restaurant is more appearance than reality. As the owner of the restaurant, you should serve every customer equally and not be prejudged based on their appearance.

I had a reservation at 21:00. Because I arrived 20 minutes early, I was scolded by the owner in front of the door, loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear. He seated me at a table that wasn't being served, even though there were empty tables for me to wait. He continued to scold the guests who arrived early after me. He was so angry that after 10 minutes I got bored of him yelling at people and left the restaurant. Edit: Everyone who was there in the restaurant witnessed how much you shouted at me and the customers who came after me. On the contrary, you are lying. I came with my driver and I left the venue with my driver. I never asked for a taxi. You are an extremely arrogant and rude person. You kept shouting that I have a table for 12 people here. If you won't be able to set a table for 12 people, I don't think you should open a restaurant. A typical racist person who does not want any tourists other than Germans.

Very tasteful food. Strongly recommend !!!! Really original Italian food. The owners are Italians and they serve the clients. So, the food and everything is guaranteed !!!! Pasta is really really tasteful !!!! Tortellini wonderful, liver excited. All perfect. We came directly from Bauma Messe. It took 1 hour, but it was worth it !!!! Guys you MUST taste the dessert. It is tremendous !!!

We came from Cologne for the Bauma in Munich and it is one of the best Italians I have ever eaten. Especially the tiramisu is the best I have ever eaten!!!

Sometimes I'm a WE in Schwabing Nord. Then I like to go to Da Fausto alone or with someone. Authentic good Italian food at fair prices, even a little later. A boss with a pleasantly direct manner. An atmosphere in the room that always captures me. Simply good.

Worst dining experience ever! The landlord is the absolute worst! My companion said in a friendly tone how beautiful the decorations were and whether the plants were real. The innkeeper then freaks out and tells us that we are not with the Turks or Yugos. Of course they are real. The sound was unspeakable. And very loud. The most unpleasant person I've ever had to meet in the restaurant industry. Then he made us sit for a quarter of an hour. Then we just left. Therefore no rating for the food. Probably the worst foreigner in Munich. Not a good advertisement for Italians as a whole if he elevates himself above other foreigners. By the way, when we came in, the “innkeeper” very rudely asked two nice girls to pay. Incredible. This store is really unnecessary. Thanks for nothing! Actually minus five stars.

I have often ordered and picked up food from Da Fausto for smaller parties at home. It's expensive, but we found the food quite good. Today I wanted to eat in the restaurant for the first time, with my nephews. We were in good spirits and were looking forward to eating at Da Fausto. However, right from the start I had the feeling that the staff was irritated, no matter what I/we said. This started when I chose the table; it was wrong where I sat down. Another example: My completely harmless question about what the difference was between Italian and German carbonara (yes, I really didn't know and I was just interested) was commented on in a rather irritated manner and was later portrayed as complaining. Since my diagnosis is gastritis, I only drink tap water right now. I know it's not polite to ask for tap water in a restaurant. So I ordered an espresso and asked for a glass of tap water with the espresso. This request was rejected. I was surprised and asked. A discussion ensued, a second employee came to the table and started insulting me loudly. My offer to pay for the tap water irritated the lady even more (unfortunately a failed attempt to calm the situation) and I was lectured very rudely about the law and the health department. I then got up, asked my nephew to follow me, and we left. The lady called after me that I was just complaining the whole time, the waiter followed me through the restaurant, cursing loudly and shouting after me on the street. Dear hosts, no, we didn't go to McDonald's (we appreciate good food too much) or to the psychiatrist (as you like to advise your critics) but to another restaurant. We were given a very friendly welcome, there was excellent beef carpaccio and a carafe of tap water.

Personally, being Italian, I found the environment a bit kisch, dated and poorly cared for, food so-so, nothing good to say. The owner is very nice, a good entertainer but... he should improve the environment and the service a little

We wanted to reserve a table for a birthday party but the landlord was of the opinion that we had to pay a minimum turnover of 400 euros for 8 people, otherwise we wouldn't get a table... He was very unfriendly and had a very bad tone. Very bold and impudent.

If you want to eat very well and are looking for an incredible atmosphere with fantastic service, this restaurant is the right place for you! I can only recommend it to everyone and look forward to going there again.

When you enter a restaurant without any given expectations and the first thought is WOW. It has such a unique atmosphere with all these natural plants, Murano lamps, the red and the gold. Feels sophisticated and then the food tastes delicious without being pretentious. Friendly staff, and a place where you would sit with your partner, your friends or your entire family.

It was our first time at Da Fausto and definitely not the last time 😊! The ambience is so very beautiful, there are real plants on the ceiling hanging through and bookshelves, for example. The food was outstanding! We had grilled salmon and veal schnitzel with fried potatoes and vegetables. The taste is at a very high level! The service and the owner were very friendly, courteous and attentive. We felt completely comfortable. PS: The toilets were very clean! And I know what I'm talking about, there are restaurants there, I think hello if they keep the kitchen as clean as the toilets... 😅.

The food here is just perfect. The atmosphere is very cozy and inviting. And here you really get the best tiramisu :) I also think it's really great that the owner himself and his wife do the service and talk to the guests, you just feel really comfortable there.

Original Italian cuisine, with the best tiramisu we have ever tasted.

Great trattoria with excellent food and a nice atmosphere. We (2 ladies) shared 4 dishes one after the other, which was possible without any problems. We had a 4-course menu: without it being a “gluttony” meal, 4 were able to try and enjoy great dishes. Thank you for making this so wonderfully possible.

Favourite restaurant in Munich!! I’ve come here 4 times and I have always had the best experience. I do really recommend reserving a table as it is often fully occupied. I fully recommend the tagliatelle con anatra and ofcourse the Tiramisu, it is truly delicious as you can see on the photos. Last night was my birthday and so I told the owner. He started singing happy birthday in a mic and gave me a flower. Quite sure this is the best Italian restaurant in Munich with the best vibes✨
