Trattoria Da Fausto in München

I had a reservation at 9 pm. I was scolded in front of the door by the owner for arriving 20 minutes early, in a way that the whole restaurant could hear. He made me sit at a table that was not being served even though there were empty tables for me to wait. He continued to scold the guests who arrived early after me. He is such an angry person that I got tired of his yelling at people after 10 minutes and left the restaurant. Edit: Everyone who was in the restaurant there can witness how much you yelled at me and the customers who came after me. On the contrary, you are lying. I came with my driver and I left the place with my driver. I did not ask for a taxi at all. You are an extremely arrogant and rude person. You kept yelling that there was a table for 12 people here. You will not be able to arrange a table for 12 people, in my opinion, you should not open a restaurant. A typical racist person who does not want tourists at all except Germans.

I wanted to treat my mother to a nice birthday dinner today, and we were immediately greeted unfriendly by the host. I told him, quite normally in German, that we had a reservation in my name for 6 p.m. When he then showed us to our table, we were asked whether we spoke German or English, as my mother and I look foreign, even though we had previously spoken to him in German. When asked what we would like to drink, my mother wanted to order a Hugo, to which she was told that we could get one at Odeonsplatz. I found this comment very rude, but for my mother's sake, I didn't say anything. When my mother asked for an alternative to a Hugo, she was suggested a drink, but she wanted to know what it was exactly, but here, again, only the name was mentioned without any explanation or description. When we placed our orders, we only wanted an appetizer and our two main courses. However, we received two appetizers, which I also overlooked. However, when we both received the wrong main course, I approached him and complained about it. His only response was that he wasn't stupid and that he knew what I'd ordered. Only when I insisted that we hadn't ordered that did he reply that it wasn't a problem, but that we'd just have to wait. Which in itself isn't a problem, but the tone plays a crucial role, which the owner clearly doesn't have. Ultimately, we were given the impression that we weren't welcome in his restaurant because of our foreign appearance. In my opinion, this restaurant is more show than substance. As a restaurant owner, you should serve every customer equally and not be judged based on their appearance.

Everything is delicious at Da Fausto. The service🔝. The ambience is cosy and stylish. For me one of the best in Schwabing.

Very tasteful food. Strongly recommend !!!! Really original Italian food. The owners are Italians and they serve the clients. So, the food and everything is guaranteed !!!! Pasta is really really tasteful !!!! Tortellini wonderful, liver excited. All perfect. We came directly from Bauma Messe. It took 1 hour, but it was worth it !!!! Guys you MUST taste the dessert. It is tremendous !!!

We came from Cologne for the Bauma in Munich and it is one of the best Italians I have ever eaten. Especially the tiramisu is the best I have ever eaten!!!

Sometimes I'm a WE in Schwabing Nord. Then I like to go to Da Fausto alone or with someone. Authentic good Italian food at fair prices, even a little later. A boss with a pleasantly direct manner. An atmosphere in the room that always captures me. Simply good.

Worst dining experience ever! The landlord is the absolute worst! My companion said in a friendly tone how beautiful the decorations were and whether the plants were real. The innkeeper then freaks out and tells us that we are not with the Turks or Yugos. Of course they are real. The sound was unspeakable. And very loud. The most unpleasant person I've ever had to meet in the restaurant industry. Then he made us sit for a quarter of an hour. Then we just left. Therefore no rating for the food. Probably the worst foreigner in Munich. Not a good advertisement for Italians as a whole if he elevates himself above other foreigners. By the way, when we came in, the “innkeeper” very rudely asked two nice girls to pay. Incredible. This store is really unnecessary. Thanks for nothing! Actually minus five stars.

Wonderful authentic Italian restaurant. The food was excellent. We'll be back!

I have often ordered and picked up food from Da Fausto for smaller parties at home. It's expensive, but we found the food quite good. Today I wanted to eat in the restaurant for the first time, with my nephews. We were in good spirits and were looking forward to eating at Da Fausto. However, right from the start I had the feeling that the staff was irritated, no matter what I/we said. This started when I chose the table; it was wrong where I sat down. Another example: My completely harmless question about what the difference was between Italian and German carbonara (yes, I really didn't know and I was just interested) was commented on in a rather irritated manner and was later portrayed as complaining. Since my diagnosis is gastritis, I only drink tap water right now. I know it's not polite to ask for tap water in a restaurant. So I ordered an espresso and asked for a glass of tap water with the espresso. This request was rejected. I was surprised and asked. A discussion ensued, a second employee came to the table and started insulting me loudly. My offer to pay for the tap water irritated the lady even more (unfortunately a failed attempt to calm the situation) and I was lectured very rudely about the law and the health department. I then got up, asked my nephew to follow me, and we left. The lady called after me that I was just complaining the whole time, the waiter followed me through the restaurant, cursing loudly and shouting after me on the street. Dear hosts, no, we didn't go to McDonald's (we appreciate good food too much) or to the psychiatrist (as you like to advise your critics) but to another restaurant. We were given a very friendly welcome, there was excellent beef carpaccio and a carafe of tap water.

Personally, being Italian, I found the environment a bit kisch, dated and poorly cared for, food so-so, nothing good to say. The owner is very nice, a good entertainer but... he should improve the environment and the service a little

We wanted to reserve a table for a birthday party but the landlord was of the opinion that we had to pay a minimum turnover of 400 euros for 8 people, otherwise we wouldn't get a table... He was very unfriendly and had a very bad tone. Very bold and impudent.

If you want to eat very well and are looking for an incredible atmosphere with fantastic service, this restaurant is the right place for you! I can only recommend it to everyone and look forward to going there again.

When you enter a restaurant without any given expectations and the first thought is WOW. It has such a unique atmosphere with all these natural plants, Murano lamps, the red and the gold. Feels sophisticated and then the food tastes delicious without being pretentious. Friendly staff, and a place where you would sit with your partner, your friends or your entire family.

The food here is just perfect. The atmosphere is very cozy and inviting. And here you really get the best tiramisu :) I also think it's really great that the owner himself and his wife do the service and talk to the guests, you just feel really comfortable there.

It was our first time at Da Fausto and definitely not the last time 😊! The ambience is so very beautiful, there are real plants on the ceiling hanging through and bookshelves, for example. The food was outstanding! We had grilled salmon and veal schnitzel with fried potatoes and vegetables. The taste is at a very high level! The service and the owner were very friendly, courteous and attentive. We felt completely comfortable. PS: The toilets were very clean! And I know what I'm talking about, there are restaurants there, I think hello if they keep the kitchen as clean as the toilets... 😅.

Original Italian cuisine, with the best tiramisu we have ever tasted.

Great trattoria with excellent food and a nice atmosphere. We (2 ladies) shared 4 dishes one after the other, which was possible without any problems. We had a 4-course menu: without it being a “gluttony” meal, 4 were able to try and enjoy great dishes. Thank you for making this so wonderfully possible.

Favourite restaurant in Munich!! I’ve come here 4 times and I have always had the best experience. I do really recommend reserving a table as it is often fully occupied. I fully recommend the tagliatelle con anatra and ofcourse the Tiramisu, it is truly delicious as you can see on the photos. Last night was my birthday and so I told the owner. He started singing happy birthday in a mic and gave me a flower. Quite sure this is the best Italian restaurant in Munich with the best vibes✨

Rude, frustrated and rude owner. If you look at the reviews here, I'm not alone in this opinion. Inside it looks like a retirement home. The guests all looked nice. I think the furnishings are very old-fashioned.

Very tasty food and a pleasant atmosphere. Reservations are accepted in the middle of the guest room and the phone rings very often. Maybe there wasn't much going on and that's why it was quiet in the guest room, so I found the phone to be more of a nuisance. All in all, a highly recommended restaurant. The tiramisu in particular was very tasty.

Simply the best experience we’ve had so far in Munich. The food was delicious - I highly recommend the set menu (the mushroom salad alone was worth the visit). The owners are absolutely delightful- friendly with great stories about their travels and golf! The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed.

Small trattoria with a great ambience. The food was very good, prices were a little higher for Munich as far as the drinks were concerned, the food was ok. Reservation was possible by email. Unfortunately the service was a bit understaffed that day, which is usually not a problem, but the owner showed that it was too much for him. We will come back and take a second picture😀

We had dinner together with my family 3 adults and 1 kid. The staff and the owner are friendly but I don’t think the food size and the quality are 4 to 5 stars. Mozzarella, Pasta Arabiata and Ravioli were ok but neither very good or exceptional. Plate portions were not enough because the owner is thinking each piece of cost! The pizza we have ordered was even lower quality than street pizza so definitely not Italian style and quality. Last but not least paying approx. 150 Eur did not bother me but paying 8 Eur for slice of bread served with Mozzarella salad not usual and acceptable.

Incredibly outrageous! We wanted to reserve a table for two people, the gentleman on the phone was super rude because he didn't have anything free at the time we wanted (7 p.m.), his answer: what nonsense, he only has 6 or 8 p.m., and he mentioned that right from the start to: Minimum consumption would be 100€, people who come and only drink one drink and eat a pizza do not make any sales. He couldn't even pay his cleaning lady out of that 😂 I don't understand how you can take that out of it when you just want to request a table for 2 people and he doesn't know what you want to eat 😂 I haven't experienced such crap in a long time. You often read here that I have no idea how you can run a business with such behavior.

We were in the restaurant with 3 people at lunchtime today. Very nice romantic atmosphere, very good food, for which we didn't have to wait long, best service from the boss himself, who always made us laugh with his funny sayings. We'll definitely be back!

Wonderful culinary experience! The ingredients are very fresh and the chef prepares the plates with a lot of passion! Definitely recommend to everyone! Linguine vongole was fabulous with fresh herbs and garlic also the tiramisu is a must. ———— It was a super dining experience. The chef really pays attention to every plate. I wish I could give more stars because the food was good and the atmosphere was nice, but the way the owner treated us was absolutely unacceptable. My friends and I completely lost our appetite after his rude behavior. It’s unfortunate, but I feel obligated to leave a 1 star review to be helpful to potential foodies considering this place. Last week (3/09) I went to Germany to see my wife, who had to go do a project there. The one who was visiting, I planned to go to this place to surprise her since we were going to Munich but she is a great lover of Italian food. The place looks pretty good and matches the theme of the place, but its workers are something totally different. They took a long time to provide services, they looked at you strange. My wife dropped her knife on the floor and it took 15 minutes to give her a new one. We lost a salad and a couple of pizzas and the food was not of the best quality, some looked like they had been open since the previous week, the dough was chewy and not to mention the vegetables in both dishes we ordered. I paid a bill of more than €80 to order three dishes and a bottle of wine that we almost didn't finish because of its “typical Italian flavor” as they told us there. In short, I ran out of money and disappointed my wife. Thank you so much.

Could not recommend it LESS. NEVER have I been treated so poorly at any establishment. The owner made it his mission to yell at us and humiliate us. Why? Because we asked to order our food (at a restaurant - shocker). We had been at our table for 45 minutes and nobody came to take our order. Tables came and went, and they were serving people that arrived after us... I politely signed at the waitress when she came around. She said "ya" but never came. So I politely signed at the next waiter that came around, who just turned out to be the incredibly rude and arrogant owner. The owner yelled at me saying "We're just 2 serving, you can't expect to order whenever you want." I will come back when I can." We had been at the restaurant for nearly 1 whole HOUR at that point, we weren't rushing anyone. I also understand it's demanding, and I would never be rude to anyone who's serving me, so I just said ok. The owner came back after literally 2 seconds and yelled again, "If you're in such a rush, what do you want?". As soon as we put in our order he sarcastically yells again, "Since you can't wait, we will close the kitchen just for you and you'll have it." At that point we just wanted to leave, but there didn't seem to be any going back. Why have a restaurant if this is how you'll treat your customers when they're just trying to order food? I will add - as I've seen that this seems to be his argument when replying to Google Reviews — we were not being loud, dressed "inappropriately", or behaving in any way that is inappropriate for a restaurant. As small as it may sound, we always made it a point to say "please" and "thank you," even after being literally yelled at multiple times. He just kept going. I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio but was brought a karafe of Chardonnay. I politely told the waiter (not the owner) that I had only ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio. He seemed sweet, apologized and said he would replace it. However, it was the owner who brought me the glass of wine afterwards, and made it a point to scream at me again. He brought the food, and yelled specifically at me (since I was the one who politely signaled that we were ready to order). I can't even remember what he said at that point, but I had enough and literally had to tell him to stop. I am not exaggerating when I say I was on the verge of tears. The carbonara was ok. I've had better, and frankly my friends and I had completely lost our appetite by that point. He came back to ask how it was, in his sarcastic tone again. Since it had escalated so much (or better, since he escalated it so much), my friend explained to him in German that we didn't rush him. That by the time he came to take our order we had been at our table for 50 minutes, and all we wanted was to eat some nice food. He yells at us once again, with a smile on his face, "Do you want an apology from me. Is that what you want? Ok, I'm sorry." It was a shame because we were really excited to try the restaurant after looking at positive reviews, and the place was in fact beautiful; but the service absolutely ruined it. Didn't want to literally write an essay of a review on a Sunday morning, but here we are. If you managed to read all of this, I do not recommend this place at all, unless you're into being humiliated and treated like garbage.

A great Italian restaurant in Munich! The food was delicious, and the staff was friendly and professional. We were a group of five, and every dish was excellent. The wine was superb, and the dessert was delightful. The place has a cozy decor, and parking nearby was easy. If I visit Munich again, I’d definitely return.

Amazing delicious and authentic Italian food in Munich. Beautiful and romantic setting with a massive pothos. We were personally greeted and seated by the owner. We were able to order in English and all the food was delicious. The desserts were excellent, I could eat strawberries and mascarpone forever.

Small and fine shop. The owners are very friendly, attentive and hospitable. Although it was busy in the evening, we didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food. The food is deliciously presented and tastes delicious.

A very nervous owner: he is totally unfriendly and snaps at you if you only want to have a drink. My friend arrived a bit later, and he refused to serve him because he didn’t want to order food. “No drinks without food.” The pizza had a burnt, black crust. The dough was also of poor quality. The old man should retire and leave the place to someone more pleasant. I don’t understand how the good reviews come about, as we’ve had bad experiences repeatedly. Possibly, the excellent reviews are just self-written ones on Google.

The service was a cold nose😂 the owner was a very pleasant older gentleman. The food was excellent, nothing to complain about. Prices acceptable for Munich. Domestic environment, like in the living room. I recommend ♥️ for this food made from the heart, you will survive the service of your wife 🤐🤣

We spent an unforgettable evening together with the very friendly and welcoming owner. We were in trouble for dinner and he allowed us to have dinner at 10pm and we ate very well. The atmosphere is cozy and very elegant, with low and very pleasant lighting. The food is excellent, we had a starter of salami and coppa, followed by gnocchi and lasagna. The preparation of the pasta is fresh, I have never eaten such soft and tasty gnocchi. For dessert we ordered a mousse, and the owner suggested tiramisu. To please everyone, the dish came with three desserts, all of them delicious.

I wanted to reserve a table today, August 28th, 24. The owner then said that he doesn't reserve in advance, he only accepts reservations 14 days in advance and he asks for a deposit of 150 euros because many guests cancel. I told him that I won't pay and said to him the guest is king, he will do as he pleases, then he shouted at me and threw me out of the restaurant Very very unpleasant owner

The food was delicious and the welcome was great, the owner tries so hard to make everyone feel at home. The Italian temperament is completely there, which we thought was wonderful to see.

I can only confirm the negative reviews. I have never experienced anything so unfriendly. As soon as we arrived, he was screaming at his guests on the phone. Then he yelled at us and told us several times that he didn't have to work anymore and that he didn't have his guests anymore would have to operate. Then why do you still run a restaurant? We then left because we hadn't ordered anything yet and he was getting louder and louder. Instead of letting us go without comment, he shouts after us. Embarrassing... instead of taking care of your other guests and avoiding such a circus. The restaurant still has its good reputation from before but that is long gone.
