Thüringer Hof in Leipzig

We arrived at 5 pm and were turned away because we didn't have a reservation. The whole place was empty. They said they didn't have enough staff. It's outrageous to have a restaurant that's completely empty. We were dressed appropriately, so that wasn't the issue. Maybe he didn't like that we had a child with us. Families should definitely avoid this place.

We should have been suspicious that we got a table on a Saturday evening! Because the food was awful! The accommodating and very friendly server didn't charge us for the meal! Conclusion: Great atmosphere and service, terrible food! We wouldn't go back!

Solid German cuisine, seasonally varied menu, friendly and fast service

This restaurant has the old time Esat German feel, lots of tables in an austere atmosphere, but worth experiencing. The food was traditional, hearty and filling and at a reasonable price. We had the sausage with sauerkraut and the pigs cheeks. The service was brisk and clinical, but nothing to complain about. The beer was cool and refreshing.

We had originally come for the roast beef dinner, but unfortunately, the menu was different today (although there was no information about it online), and we had goose leg instead. The food was incredibly delicious, and the staff was very friendly, attentive, and efficient. However, we found the prices completely exorbitant. €30.00 for a goose leg is quite steep, especially when in the state capital of Dresden, a goose leg costs only €22.80.

Hearty food – pricey, but very good. Large portions. The sauerbraten was a bit dry, but the pork knuckle was perfect. The ambiance was chilly and therefore not quite as cozy as we had hoped.

Why is the Ratskeller overcrowded (with seating instructions reminiscent of the times of the last dictatorship and, of course, "no tables available at all right now")? And just 300 meters away, there's plenty of space and good food! You don't have to understand. But I think there are dramas unfolding in the background regarding influence and power at the bar of Leipzig's restaurant elite. This might then lead to a further loss of Saxon restaurants, and then space will become available for yet another Asian restaurant (or another bakery or barber shop). Until then (or hopefully not): it doesn't have to be the Ratskeller or the one at Auerbach. Come and enjoy the

Dishes are overpriced for what you get. They look like they were microwaved. As a rule we do not add any dessert. Nice place, of course.

Roast goose is becoming an expensive pleasure. It's delicious, but €36 is a real outrage and almost twice as expensive as it was two or three years ago. It's a shame, but to be expected.

We were here for the third time. The food was delicious every time. Very friendly service. Cozy atmosphere. You only have to get the seat cushions yourself; it would be nicer if they were provided.

A very nice restaurant, there's Schäuffele, the northernmost one I know of. On weekends, you should order or be flexible with the time. However, almost everywhere in Leipzig's city center, the restaurants are busy. The waiters are very friendly and prompt. You're shown to your seat and given your menu immediately. We were very satisfied. Perhaps not the cheapest restaurant, but it's a very cozy atmosphere and has some interesting history, too. You can read everything on the menu. Enjoy your meal and enjoy your meal.

The food was great, I had slices of deer leg, the meat was super tender, the sauce was very tasty, the Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. In short, I can only recommend the Thüringer Hof. The waiter was very attentive and friendly, my friend had knuckle with sauerkraut and dumplings, and for dessert there was Kaiserschmarrn with apple sauce and vanilla ice cream. Everything about her dish was also super tasty and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately I have to deduct a star for the ambience because this restaurant is quite dark and there is a lot of noise coming from the large dining room. You can hear at the table what guests at the other end of the room are ordering. Otherwise, a very nice, traditional restaurant which is always worth a visit, as even the staff here put their heart and soul into their work.

12.12.24, lunchtime: Today the four of us are having dinner at the Thüringer Hof in Leipzig. We hadn't made a reservation but were assigned a table. The staff are quick and friendly and the food is plentiful and good. However, the prices have increased significantly so that for four meals and four drinks you can expect to pay between €115 and €130. The restaurant was still well attended and the atmosphere was relaxed. We'll definitely come back again.

Solid German food with fast, attentive service. German cuisine is actually not my first choice, but the Thüringer Hof was convincing. Lots of space and free tables on Friday evening. Lots of older people as guests. Our service was always friendly and attentive. My recommendation is half duck, very soft and tasty. But everything else was also very good and prices were reasonable for Leipzig city center. Will definitely come back

A wide range of food and beer on offer. The food was very good as was the service, although one waiter was dressed in a tee shirt and baseball hat which was a bit out of keeping with the rest.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the high prices of the food are hardly affordable and the quantities and quality offered are rather mediocre. 30€ is clearly too much for two rather small dumplings, overcooked red cabbage and a small, half-burned piece of goose. The desserts range between €6-10. This is for ice cream etc. simply too expensive.

We had reserved. Is recommended! A friendly and very nice young waiter served us completely and made us very satisfied. He gave good information when choosing dishes and contributed to our well-being. Everything was really great. As a starter I had a solyanka and as a main course I had pork knuckle, but not fried! Was incredibly tasty. My wife chose venison ragout. This is also super delicious. For dessert we had warm chocolate cake with ice cream and cream. Price-performance ratio good and reasonable. All we can say here is: RATING ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED

You should write on google maps and notice your customers that the kitchen is closed and re opens at 17:00. Waste of time.

Very tasty and home-style cuisine.

We had a very unfriendly waiter. The Solianka was oversalted, there was a lot of trouble with the cellar, in the end we had the managing director brought in, he was very nice and we were able to sort everything out.

Not bad per se, the main courses were pretty good, although the sauces were far better on my last visit a few years ago. Unfortunately, some things around it didn't convince us. The waiter seemed totally stressed, two people from our group came a little early. They still received cards from the waiter, but unfortunately the rest of the table didn't. The waiter, for example, hardly knew any schnapps on the menu and always just said: "Oh, do we even have that" and was therefore hardly able to give any information. He seemed new, things weren't that bad, but he seemed very unfriendly due to his stress. However, two other points really bothered us. On the one hand, the smell in the toilets was not appropriate for such a location, more like a motorway parking lot and absolutely unbearable. On the other hand, the yoghurt dressing in the side salads was very bland and too runny, tasted correspondingly watery and, despite seasoning with pepper and salt, simply had very little taste. If the price of a main course is beyond the 20 euro mark, I think you can expect a lot more.

Unfortunately the service is very unfriendly, which is a shame - the Thüringer Hof restaurant has a lot of potential.

A very good place to go in the heart of Leipzig for years. Uncomplicated table reservations (which is definitely recommended in the evenings and on weekends). Very pleasant atmosphere in the historic vault, which, however, guarantees a somewhat "too good" acoustic for a full house ;-)) Friendly, attentive service and delicious, genuine Saxon-Thuringian home cooking. Always worth a visit.

I have rarely if ever had to eat such a lousy pork schnitzel in a restaurant. For a motorway rest stop in the middle of the night in the rain, maybe €5-7 is okay. But for 25€ a maximum impudence. That shouldn't be called Thüringer Hof in Thuringia!

Historical flair, pleasant ambience

We had lunch at Thüringer Hof with a tour group on June 22, 2024. Although the food was pre-ordered, our table received the food after waiting for over an hour. My husband and I ordered schnitzel with peas. The peas lay dry on the plate without any sauce or tossed in butter. Schnitzel and fries so-so, so-so. We do not give any recommendations for the restaurant.

There were four of us. 3 of us were quite happy with the food but the sauerbraten didn't work at all. According to the menu there were raisins but they were missing and the meat was very burnt on the edge. We complained about it immediately but there was no response from the cellar. That doesn't work at all, even when we were clearing away, we mentioned it again because the meat wasn't eaten either. The only response was that he couldn't do anything about it. This has never happened to us before, an impossible behavior.
