The best souvlaki I've ever had in Germany! It was so delicious, it was like being in Greece. The chicken skewer was excellent, and so was the gyro – it was my first time eating pork gyro because I don't usually like fat. But this one was just right! A huge compliment to the people there – we'll definitely come back again, because it's really worth it!

Yesterday, after a strenuous day, we stopped by the Gyros Grill. We were served an excellent taxi plate, which can be considered a house specialty. We look forward to our next visit!

Unfortunately, it went very bad!!! But the icing on the cake right now: cold meat, inedible last time, and I can't recommend it to anyone.

I was there on September 12, 2025 at around 8 p.m. because I had business in the area. They have a very extensive menu that goes far beyond what you'd expect from a takeaway (plus various grilled meats, etc.). There are a few seats inside in what is actually a small space. It was busy, and the delivery service seemed to be working well. The manager was very friendly; I opted for a gyro plate with fries, tzatziki, and onions (€10), shish kebab sauce, and mayo, and for a salad (€2) I chose plain coleslaw and cucumber cream salad. The gyro was very tasty, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, as it should be. The onions were slightly seasoned, which was also very tasty. The tzatziki was great, the fries were crispy, and the toppings were tasty too. The salad was served on a separate plate (I really appreciate that, better than having everything "mashed" together on one plate). The cucumber salad (I don't think it was homemade) was good, as was the coleslaw. All in all, a good and tasty portion, for which I'd like to give a big thumbs up. A video showed (really interesting, I've never seen anything like it in a snack bar before) how to make the meatballs yourself, which I also found interesting. I would have loved to try it myself, but you can't have everything... Unfortunately, it was probably a one-time visit for me, as I only happened to be in the area. Otherwise, I'd be happy to come back. So, thumbs up and keep up the good work, special praise and thanks to the nice manager...

It really tastes delicious! The prices are really good, especially the specials, which change daily. Unfortunately, you have to expect some very long waits. If it's busy, you can sometimes wait 30-40 minutes for a souvlaki or something similar. So you should definitely pre-order or be flexible.

Best gyro in Bochum. I've moved away, but I still love coming here. It's simply delicious, and the service is good.

I ordered a taxi plate. The quantity was fine, but the taste has changed significantly in recent years. Unfortunately, the currywurst no longer tastes the same as it used to – it seems like a cheap sausage. In comparison, the sausage from Dönninghaus is significantly higher quality and tastes better. Unfortunately, the fries are often too soft and not crispy. The change is most noticeable in the curry sauce: It tastes like a mixed-up, ready-made sauce and has nothing to do with the delicious, spicy flavor it used to have. Another disappointment: You now have to wait a very long time for your order – in my case, it was 30 minutes, even though there were 2-4 people working on the team. In the past, under the previous owners, everything was much better: the taste and quality were consistently high, the curry sauce was delicious, and you never had to wait long, even with only 1-2 people on the team. It's a shame that things have changed so much. For a really good currywurst with a great sauce, I would go straight to Dönninghaus in the future.

I pre-ordered and everything went smoothly. The price is great, and the gyro plate is super delicious. Everything is clean and the salad is also super fresh. We'll be seeing each other more often now. See you soon and keep up the good work. Thanks

Fresh gyros from a homemade skewer - very tasty, I've been there again!

The Gyros Grill, located right next to the German Mining Museum in Bochum, impresses with delicious food at fair prices. The gyros are juicy and flavorful, and the portions are generous – just what you need after a museum visit. The fries and side dishes are also delicious and arrive piping hot. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the visit pleasant. Preparation is quick, even when moderately busy, and the value for money is good. The ambiance is simple and functional – more of a classic snack bar atmosphere without any major frills. Some friends and acquaintances report that the change in ownership or management has brought positive changes, both in the food and in the service – a good sign of continuity. A few minor details are still missing: The seating area and interior design could be a bit more modern or well-maintained. The cleanliness and presentation of the tables could also be improved in some areas. Nevertheless, the overall impression is positive, and the essentials – the food – are just right.

Our Tedox team ate there today. All the employees were very impressed with the delicious food and the speed with which our meals were prepared. 9 dishes were prepared in 30 minutes. Thank you from the Tedox Bochum Hofstede team...

I thought long and hard about whether to write a review; after all, I've been a neighbor and customer for a long time. Unfortunately, the quality has deteriorated rapidly over the years. Recently, I got an ancient, dried-out chicken. Now I got a mixed-up hunter's schnitzel, thrown together from bouillon—otherwise, I can't explain the thickened sauce, which tastes of nothing and is more reminiscent of wallpaper paste. See photos. Absolutely disgusting...

The delivery man isn't particularly intelligent. He drives to the wrong address and wonders why the data is incorrect.

The Gyros Grill has a nice, pleasant atmosphere with background music. The service is also very polite and always alerts you to special offers. The gyros are good and juicy. It's also kid-friendly, with two toy vending machines. I highly recommend it.

They can't even make a taxi plate, the meat there is shredded so small you can eat it in a spoon (it doesn't come fresh from the spit either), and the Metaxa sauce is also absolutely subterranean. NEVER AGAIN!

I was there for the first time yesterday and I was very pleasantly surprised. First of all, you really can't complain about the prices, especially these days. In addition, you get a lot for these prices and you'll be 100% satisfied. The amount is really enough to fill you up. I ordered a gyro bag that came in a box filled with the pita and meat as well as tzatziki and coleslaw. It was sooooo delicious, especially the tzatziki 🥰🥰 I haven't eaten such great tzatziki in a long time. The fries were super crispy and very fresh, not like in many snack bars that taste like old fat/oil. I found the staff a bit quiet, not so talkative and not smiling, but maybe they had a bad day 😉 Another visit is definitely coming!!!! All I can say is... BEST GREEK in Bochum and the surrounding area 👍👍👍

Great for a snack! Menu with Greek and snack dishes. There is a gyros skewer rental and for children a children's gyros and children's schnitzel. The bifteki is very good! The lady of the house is very friendly.

There are some seats, some of which are very close together, but at least you can eat warm here. Had gyros with fries and tzatziki. The portions were a pleasant size. Gyros and fries were very tasty, we didn't like the tzatziki that much. But when we are nearby we will eat there again.

The food is super delicious. The service nice. The place is clean. If someone smokes outside the window wall, it will move completely into the store - but that was probably just a snapshot because a small crowd of people had formed outside.

Small, cozy fast food restaurant with a few seats. Prices and portions are simply TOP, friendliness is also very important. And the 3-4 parking spaces in the yard are also very positive. It was definitely delicious and not the last time we were here. Keep it up. 👍🏻

The "Gyros Grill" is a great little traditional Greek gyros grill with seating. Very nice staff and very good Greek cuisine. Good portions and cold local beer make the visit perfect. About 30 minutes to the Vonovia Arena. We'd love to come back for the next concert!

A typical small Greek restaurant. Since I don't eat gyros, I can't comment on the meat. But all the other dishes we had there were very tasty. Personally, I liked the souvlaki.

This is the second time we have ordered something to eat there and we were very satisfied again. Very tasty and, in my opinion, at very good prices. The portions are huge, you'll definitely feel full there. The owners are very friendly and the waiting time for the food is normal during the week. There are parking spaces in the yard, but unfortunately only 2 or 3. That's not a problem, as there are plenty of other parking options on Hernerstrasse. There is also a small but nice opportunity to eat on site. We are very satisfied all around and would like to come back soon!

The food is consistently delicious, I've been there several times and tried a lot. The service is very good and very friendly. There are 3 tables for four and 2 tables for two but they are almost always occupied.

There are a few tables, but it's still a snack bar and a good one. Typically Greek, crispy fries and beer from Fiege. What more do you want?

Actually a really nice, good grill. Only some of the fries to go are apparently double-fried so that they are rock hard and inedible just to save a few cents at the expense of the customers (acrymalid). A no-go.

Yesterday as I was driving home from a very hard shift and half starving, I passed the Gyros Grill. I've heard a lot of good things from friends who live nearby. It was already late in the evening and I walked in... I immediately noticed that something was different here... this ambience that I hadn't had in what felt like 20 years. What you know from back then... this feeling of always wanting to come here. The lady at the counter immediately smiled at me and greeted me. I don't know if that was the boss, but she made a really great and warm impression. I was very hungry and it certainly showed... so I ordered a grilled plate. Not much time passed before my food was brought to the table. Again with a smile and a “enjoy yourself”. Yes folks... unfortunately I rarely hear that anywhere else. By the way... the chip shop is really nice and very traditionally decorated. Now for the highlight... Guys, I've only eaten such juicy bifteki once in my life... it was really unforgettably delicious! The gyros are exactly as they should be and let's be honest... gyros is an art. Either you can do it or you can't and yes 98% of the people who sell gyros have no idea what they are doing. The fries... just really tasty. Golden as it should be. But a real insider tip was the tzatziki. I have no idea what or how, but I would have loved to take a pot home with me (I also like to eat it with flatbread) as a dip, so to speak. Really mega. The prices are really great especially for the service and quality. If you are traveling in Bochum and get hungry... you will get what you are looking for there. Innenraum war überfüllt, Tische standen zusammen und wurde gerade durch eine größere Gruppe beschlagnahmt zu sein, Ordnung und Sauberkeit machte einen verbesserungsbedürftigen Eindruck. Habe das Lokal umgehend ohne Essen verlassen.

Wir mussten jetzt einfach mal eine Bewertung schreiben. Absoluter Lieblingsgrieche in Bochum von meiner Frau und mir. Wir sind Stammkunden seit Tag 1 und kommen immer wieder gerne. Die verschiedenen Gerichte sind allesamt lecker und zudem auch authentisch zu dem was wir selber schon in Griechenland gegessen haben. Die Portionen sind wirklich groß und man wird immer satt. Unsere Empfehlung ist auf jeden Fall der Alex Teller. Essen gerne dort aber bestellen auch gelegentlich zum Mitnehmen. Wenn man nicht gerade zur Stoßzeit kommt findet man auch eigentlich immer einen Platz am Tisch. Getränkewahl ist super und die Toiletten stets sauber. Auch das Essen und die Salate schmecken immer frisch. Die Familie ist einfach nur so unglaublich herzlich und aufmerksam. Immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen. Zu Weihnachten haben wir sogar einen Wein geschenkt bekommen. Keine Selbstverständlichkeit, danke nochmal dafür. :) 5/5

Gyros Pits ist ganz lecker. Kann man guten Gewissens hingehen. Man sollte nicht zu spät kommen, denn vielleicht ist der Gyrosspiess dann schon runtergeschnitten. Das ist aber immer ein gutes Zeichen. Es gibt verschiedene Tagesangebote.
