The best Asian restaurant by far in all of Regensburg, and the owner is super friendly and incredibly authentic; therefore, I highly recommend it and send greetings from Landshut!

I stumbled upon The Thai today, almost by chance. Modern decor, very attentive and friendly service, excellent food. However: the ginger/lemon tea consists of plenty of hot tap water, four strips of ginger desperately trying to impart flavor, and two half-slices of lemon. The cost of ingredients is 50 cents, assuming everything is organic. Sold for €4.50, it's a recipe for a fat margin in any restaurant. And a tip for new customers: the second floor is significantly more spacious than the ground floor, which gets very noisy when it's full.

Lovely outdoor seating area at Haidplatz, super friendly service and fantastic food! The dishes weren't too spicy for our children either – highly recommended! Fresh vegetables, lovingly garnished, authentic dishes. We always love coming back!

Unfortunately, I received a very bland papaya salad today. The dressing was tasteless and rather watery. No garlic, no chili. I didn't order it too spicy, so I ordered it plain. There was no cilantro either. I told the server this, and she just smiled at me. I paid €18.50 for this small appetizer. It wasn't worth it.

I ate there yesterday with my wife and my extremely excited children. It was absolutely delicious, and even though my children were running around the restaurant, the server remained very calm and friendly. Thank you so much for that. I can highly recommend The Thai.

Very tasty food and the service is very friendly and attentive.

I chose one of two dishes described on the menu as "vegan-friendly" and ordered it that way. It came with plain noodles and frozen vegetables, no sauce or seasoning. Then they told me to just pour soy sauce over it... Why is a dish like that on the menu if it's not a ready-made meal? I think that's pretty weak of the kitchen or the chef. Something like that must have been approved by people before it goes on the menu. That means they think something like that is a complete meal for 15 euros (pile of noodles with no sauce and frozen vegetables). Suggestions for this place: 1. Pour some kind of quick sauce over it. Don't expect me, as a customer, to pour soy sauce over a lump of noodles myself. 2. If you don't want to offer anything vegan, then take it off the menu. Don't advertise it.

We discovered this restaurant through the Touring Club guide, and we loved it. The food was good, not too abundant, but well-prepared and easily digestible. The upstairs dining room is lovely.

Last time i had diner with my pal we warned the waiter in German, that he has food allergies and asked for the vegetarian position, but he still got the allergens in his soup As an answer to our complains the waiter replied: "probably the pot wasn't washed well before cooking or idk the waiter barely speaks German" We had to urgently find an open pharmacy on sunday, and we were only offered not to pay for position that almost got my friend choking Terrible and mean Should really have called police

Nice atmosphere but nothing more. Food has no taste and is only prepared with canned vegetables. You can also go for a snack there for half the price! Too bad!

The food was good, although the portions were very small especially for the price. Service was friendly. It was also a bit too dark because of little lighting and keep in mind its cash only

The restaurant does not offer authentic Thai food as advertised, but rather Vietnamese cuisine. Unfortunately the taste is not convincing, so there is only one star. It shouldn't call itself a Thai restaurant.

I was disappointed with the food. The menu says “authentic Thai food” but the taste experience doesn’t match that. The price doesn't match the quality or quantity. It's a shame that it is called Thai food, but unfortunately it tastes completely different.

ohohoh!!! War das fein! Ich zehre noch heute von diesem feinen Essen! Da hat einfach alles gestimmt: die absolut frische Zubereitung, die feine Nuancierung der Saucen, die Knackigkeit von Gemüse, Frühlingsrollen und der gebratenen Hühnchen (special of the day!). Alles so perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt und richtig richtig gut! Dazu einer der fixesten und bestgelaunten Services der Stadt, ein schönes Ambiente und perfekte Lage mitten in der Altstadt.

This was some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. Extremely crispy, juicy, and a generous portion. The dipping sauce was incredible, too. We liked it so much we got a second order after we finished the first. Atmosphere and service also superb.

It's a shame that there are no Thai employees, only Vietnamese who don't understand Thai, that was different with the previous owner. The food is good and the TV show has caused the prices to go up significantly.

Just perfect. Delicious food. We had the mixed starter and two mains - perfect for two people with normal/smaller appetite. Main courses came with rice which is a great deal. The spring rolls and golden bags could have been better but all was forgiven when the mains arrived. Definitely recommend. €60 inc glass of wine each. October 2024

Super friendly service from the moment you greet us until you leave the restaurant. The food tastes excellent and also looks very attractive. I wasn't sure about the spiciness of the dish I had chosen, but the waiter immediately offered to bring me the sauce to try in advance. I was then given a bowl of rice to try! I've never experienced anything so great and I really loved it! :) Thank you again at this point, really great! The service was super great! :)

Ich war an einem Freitag Abend mit Freunden eingeladen. Es ist ein gutes Thai Lokal inmitten der Innenstadt von Regensburg. Es ist fußläufig sowohl über den Haidplatz als über die Rote Hahnen Gasse gut erreichbar, auf Grund der Fußgängerzone nicht mit dem Auto. Es gibt jedoch mehrere Parkhäuser unmittelbar in der Nähe. Ambiente Das zeitgemäße bzw. moderne Ambiente – in thailändischem Stil gehalten. Es ist sehr ansprechend und modern gestaltet. Der Gastraum bietet auch Platz für größere Gesellschaften. Es herrscht eine angenehm unkomplizierte Atmosphäre. Service Das Lokal erstaunlich wenig besucht, was für ein Regensburger Lokal etwas verwunderlich ist. Der Service ist sehr professionell. Wir wurden vom Juniorchef bedient, der sehr höflich und freundlich ist. Ich hatte eine spritzige Apfelsaftschorle bestellt. Sie wurde erst ohne Kohlensäure serviert. Als ich dies beanstandet hatte, wurde sie sofort getauscht. Leider kam die zweite Lieferung auch „still“ :-( Essen und Getränke Ich habe GAENG KIAO WAN bestellt, ein nordthailändisches grünes Curry mit Thai Basilikum, Thai Auberginen und Zucchini. Als Fleischeinlage habe ich Thai Roastbeef gewählt. Der Fond ist sehr angenehm (mittel)scharf und hat eine gute Tiefe. Das Gemüse hält für meine Begriffe nicht den Standard. Hier hätte ich mir thailändische Zutaten – weniger deutsche – gewünscht. Das Fleisch ist dünn geschnitten, könnte ggf. etwas kürzer im Wok vertragen. Preis- / Leistungsverhältnis Das Preis- / Leistungsverhältnis ist hinsichtlich der Speisen angemessen, wenn man die Lage mitten in der Regensburger Altstadt berücksichtigt. Die Preise für die Getränke sind standard für die Regensburger Lokale. Fazit Das Lokal ist zu empfehlen, wenn man unterschiedliche thailändisches Essen probieren will. Lediglich muss man eventuell an das Gemüsewahl ein wenig arbeiten.

We had dinner at "The Tai" late yesterday afternoon. The restaurant is very cozy and tastefully designed. The staff very friendly and helpful. The food is good. We had a mixed starter together, then sweet and sour vegetables and a red curry. All in all, good in taste and quality. Anyone who likes Thai food is in good hands here.

The restaurant has a great atmosphere and is nicely decorated. The service is very attentive and friendly. However, I was not happy with my dish. I had a rice dish with vegetables and it was supposed to be very spicy. In the end it was a lot of rice, few vegetables and I had to season the food myself. The price of 15.90 euros was quite expensive.

Absolutely recommended authentic Thai restaurant. We chose this restaurant to get us in the mood for an upcoming vacation and were very impressed; a warm and warm welcome, extremely friendly service and delicious food in a great atmosphere. I had a northern Thai green curry while my companion had the southern Thai massaman curry; plus a delicious homemade lemonade. We can fully recommend this restaurant. 6!6!6! Very, very tasty food. Delicious vegetarian rolls first, I had told the service that I don't like anything "out of the water". The gentleman gave me very good advice and suggested a delicious dish that could be prepared without fish sauce. "Fish sauce is the salt in our kitchen" And I was surprised that I also really enjoyed the curry containing fish sauce With beer and water, 50 euros in total, they were worth it, thank you

The Thai can be recommended without reservation. Cozy atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Prices are at a normal level in comparison and, in our opinion, reasonable. We'd love to come back!

Very nice this food and good service. When the food originally came from the kitchen, it was not spicy at all, but we just asked for some chili souce and that was brought to us no problem. So we could add the spice ourself and to our liking. All in all a very good experience

No more Thai chef. All from Vietnam when I visited. Reason of 2 stars is we ask to order written in thai, they told that they have thai chef who can read thai. But they haven’t, and did not tell us.

Authentic Thai cuisine? That's probably a bad joke - the same snack level has been going on for years. It's a shame because the restaurant itself is attractive inside. Keep distance.

This Thai food is of snack level quality. The meat is hard and fried to death - less than half of it is even edible, the sauces are extremely boring, the salad is bland with a putrid aftertaste - you only do that to yourself if you are very hungry... but: tiny portions for unreasonably high prices. Who else gives such good reviews here??? The ambience is at first glance okay - but that can't compensate for what you're given here. Outrageous price-performance ratio! Never again and certainly not a recommendation... this meal to go can really ruin your evening - and the portion sizes also make your stomach growl.

Dieses Thai Food ist qualitativ auf Imbissniveau. Sicherlich nichts besonderes…das Fleisch hart und totgetretenes… aber: winzige Portionen für unangemessen hohe Preise. Wer gibt hier bitte so gute Bewertungen??? Das Ambiente ist okay - aber das kann doch nicht ausgleichen, was man hier vorgesetzt bekommt. Unverschämtes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Nie wieder (!) und sicherlich auch keine Weiterempfehlung… dieses Essen to go kann einem den Abend richtig vermiesen - und bei den Portionsgrößeen knurrt dann auch noch der Magen.

Authentic Thai restaurant with super sweet and warm service and very tasty food! My absolute highlight was the sticky rice with mango. You are also served very quickly. There is something for everyone here. Vegetarians and vegans also get their money's worth here. If you want something spicy, you're in good hands here. You can definitely find the classic Thai dishes here and they are also prepared like in Thailand. You pay a little more here but the price-performance ratio is definitely right. Unfortunately I can't understand the good reviews. It smelled like a toilet. The overall impression of the ambience/cleanliness was not that it was well maintained. The important thing: The food for all 5 of us was rather bland. Maybe OK for a quick lunch. But in my opinion not for more.

Really a very nice location. Only recommended! We were there spontaneously in the evening and easily managed to get a spot. The boss is really accommodating and really super nice. And little tip folks: try one of the cocktails! Great evening! Gladly again!

I booked a reservation for a birthday party. Not only was the reservation super easy to make, but the restaurant operator personally took care of us. His extremely friendly and courteous manner makes you want to linger. The food was extremely authentic and tasty. Combined with the design of the restaurant itself, it made us think we were in Thailand. His self-mixed cocktails were simply perfect and are already a reason to spend further evenings here. I will definitely visit the Thai again.

Perfect, From the absolutely inviting and clean atmosphere, the very friendly staff to the delicious and really filling food. Nothing is missing there. No unpleasant smells from the kitchen as you would expect from many Asian restaurants.

Die Currys sind sehr gut, frisch zubereitet und der Service echt fix. Den einen Stern Abzug gibt es nur, da auch die nicht scharfen Speisen meiner Partnerin zu scharf waren - hier war das Restaurant auch sehr zuvorkommend und hat nochmal ein anderes Gericht gebracht. Schärfe ist halt immer sehr subjektiv und kann schwer bewertet werden. Ich fande es genau richtig

Ich fand das Essen leider sehr langweilig. Die Suppe war sehr lecker und tatsächlich gut, sogar 4 Garnelen war sehr fair und selten der Fall. Das Hauptgericht war 0815 und die Ente war leider zeh, zu dünn geschnitten und dadurch extrem trocken. Insgesamt sehr kleine Karte, wobei es ja dann eben eher Wert auf Perfektion und Geschmack gelegt werden sollte und leider es nicht der Fall war. Service und Ambiente sind sehr gut.

Mir hat es wirklich sehr gut gefallen und richtig gut geschmeckt. Bedient wurden wir äußerst freundlich und ich würde jederzeit gerne wieder dort essen, wenn wir mal wieder in Regensburg sind. Leider hat kein Nachtisch mehr reingepasst. 😉 Nächstes Mal ohne Vorspeise und dafür mit Nachtisch. 😁Absolute Weiterempfehlung von mir.

Wir sind über das Format Mein Lokal, dein Lokal auf das Restaurant aufmerksam geworden und hatten uns auf authentische thailändische Küche gefreut Was wir bekommen haben, unterschiied sich niicht von dem, was unser Asiate um die Ecke auch bietet. Allerdings kostet es dort - ohne Service und das schöne Ambiente des Haidtplatzes - nur die Hälfte. Das Personal ist zwar bemüht, aber nur bedingt effektiv. Plastiktischdecken und niedrige Balkontische laden auch nicht gerade zum Verweilen ein. Bei uns wird es daher kein zweites Mal geben.

Ich esse sonst nie scharf und habe deswegen das Essen nicht so gut vertragen.. Aber das liegt nicht am Restaurant, es hat nämlich sehr gut geschmeckt und sah auch gut aus. Punktabzug gibt's leider für die Bedienung die uns das Essen ohne Besteck gebracht hat, dann musste halt der Chef anrücken und sich mit einem lustigen Spruch rausreden haha

Wir waren heute in Regensburg und wollten unbedingt im "The Thai" essen. Wir sind durch Mike Süsser , Mein Lokal, Dein Lokal aufmerksam geworden. Meine Erwartungen waren hoch,....leider wurden wir sehr enttäuscht. Ich hab noch nie so schlecht Thai gegessen. Gebratene Nudeln mit Hühnerfleisch ( deklariert mit 2 Chilly Symbolen ) in der Karte für die Schärfe. Es kam ein Gericht, was nur noch süß geschmeckt hat,... von Schärfe oder Geschmack, leider keine Spur ! Mein Mann hatte Reis mit Hühnerfleisch, auch keinerlei Schärfe oder Geschmack , außerdem war sein Essen sehr trocken. Schade, aber wir werden definitiv hier nicht mehr essen . Schade

Bei unserer Ankunft wurde uns ein Tisch im oberen Restaurantabschnitt zugewiesen. Der Tisch war von unseren Vorgängern noch sichtlich in Mitleidenschaft gezogen, ebenso die Stühle. Es war einfach sehr schmutzig. Auf zweimalige Aufforderung wurde von der Servicekraft einer der beiden Tische gewischt, der zweite, ebenso schmutzige Tisch, erst nach nochmaliger Bitte. Die erhaltenen Speise- und Getränkekarten sind meiner Meinung nach untragbar. Die Karten und Klemmbretter sind schmutzig, pappig und mehrfach mit Tesafilm geklebt. Das Essen war ok. Beim Take-Away Asiaten ums Eck ist das Essen besser. Die Krönung war dann die Toilette. Es gab keine Tücher zum Trocknen der Hände - die lagen alle benutzt am Boden. Die Toilette wurde augenscheinlich längere Zeit nicht gereinigt. Alles in Allem fand ich die hygienischen Zustände äußerst bedenklich. Wir werden nicht mehr kommen.

Die Vorspeisen waren gut, leider waren die Hauptspeisen beide versalzen und sonst wenig gewürzt.
