It used to be better. There were four of us on our last visit. The food came at three completely different times, so only two people could actually eat together. Nevertheless, the food was not served cold. Our place was right next to the clearing cart... plates and cutlery were being unloaded there with full force, which meant there was a constant, loud clattering and clinking and conversations at normal volume were not possible. The East used to be a really recommendable restaurant with good food. Now the atmosphere is more reminiscent of a canteen. Hope it returns to its old quality soon.

The food was very expensive. 30 euros plus drinks is crazy. Otherwise I pay 20 euros per person. You can't eat that much. It costs less at lunchtime. I don't understand the surcharge in the evening. It's a shame that the dishes cannot be customized. I don't want onions, but you can't specify that when ordering. Ingredients etc not clear. Waiters don't speak German well enough to find out. Many fried. Rather unhealthy. Overall dark in the restaurant. We won't be coming back.

We were in the East for the second time and had chosen the 120 minute menu. It is interesting to choose 4 dishes using a tablet, try them and after a period of 10 minutes or more choose the next 4 dishes. Everything is delicious and beautifully prepared. We'll be back. However, you can also order from the menu.

Three of us were there yesterday. The waitresses don't speak any German, and food is casually thrown onto the table as you walk past. Bowls smeared and sushi in frozen supermarket quality. Only that it costs 4.90 and not 30 euros. And be careful with your sensitive teeth. Some of the sushi is not completely thawed. I've known the place for over 10 years and the quality has been nothing but a joke for about 5 years. But apparently tabelts and a nice interior design are enough to still attract enough guests. A little insider tip for sushi explicitly: Sushi yummy in Gelnhausen. The interior design of the restaurant is not remotely comparable to "the east". The food, however, is worlds higher quality, fresher and at half the price. Since I tend to get fed up with good food rather than beautiful decoration in restaurants, I prefer to go there. I wouldn't recommend The East to anyone I like.

Have been there several times and actually satisfied. Today was catastrophic. Had the taste. Only a good half of the things ordered were served and only with a delay and after asking again and again. What came next was served cold. When paying with a card, the waitress asked for a tip. I have said. No, I don't give anything because I wasn't satisfied. I then had an invoice printed out. Among other things, it said "various things from the kitchen." I asked what this position was. The answer was for the payment and tax office cards. I asked again. Then he said. That would be the tip he would have taken with him. I thought that was absolute impudence. So be careful when paying by card

We were initially surprised by the new prices from May 1st, 2024 (€6-8 more per person). There is also no indication on the homepage that the kitchen closes earlier at lunchtime.

We had dinner with 5 people in the evening and had all you can eat with an iPad. Four dishes per person could be chosen every 15 minutes. Everything we had was hot and at the table very quickly. Everyone enjoyed the food very much. The small portions are great, if you want more of something you can order it again without any problems. The drinks could also be ordered via the iPad. The service was great. The servers were friendly and very attentive. Empty plates were put away straight away. The only drawback is the parking situation, as there are several shops on site. There are clearly not enough parking spaces. We would be happy to come back and definitely recommend THE EAST.

We reserved a table for four and got a table quickly. Unfortunately we had to wait for a few latecomers. The waitress probably didn't understand this after several explanations. While we were waiting, we had a few drinks and appetizers brought to us, although the waitress constantly passed us by in an almost monitoring manner. Then suddenly took the cards from us. When we were full and could finally order properly, there were incredulous looks and questions when my partner said she was ordering something else. Very uncomfortable. Probably won't go there again. As for the food, it's okay in itself but nothing special. It seems to me as if the quality has deteriorated somewhat over the last 5 years. But these are just my experiences, the East is still worth it for you to see for yourself.

Wir waren heute seit langer Zeit wieder hier, um etwas zu essen. Die Kinder haben sich drauf gefreut, mal wieder zum 'Essen mit Ipad' zu gehen. Als wir dort angekommen sind (an einem Sonntag Nachmittag) war es fast leer, und wir haben schnell herausgefunden, warum. Das 'warme' essen war meißt kalt, und dass sushi warm. Obwohl wenig los war (mit uns 4 Tische besetzt) hat es teilweise über 20 min. gedauert, bis manches da war, und an der Qualität war auch viel auszusagen. In der Miso Suppe, wo normalerweise Seetang drin ist, waren nur Frühlingszwiebeln und der Tintenfisch-salat bestand mehr aus Kartoffeln als Tintenfisch. Wir werden nicht wiederkommen, und empfehlen es auch euch nicht.

Been eating there for years. Were there again today and we found that they have raised the prices so much that you can no longer ignore the disadvantages of the store. The service is not particularly good. It takes up to 25 minutes until you finally receive service after asking several times. It wasn't covered for everyone. Asked again 5 times. The food was already on the table and we couldn't eat because we didn't have any cutlery. The ambience is ok. The food from the iPad is usually good, depending on the day. That was okay with us the whole time. However, you now pay just under €40 per person for the all you can eat option with two drinks. This price is absolutely not justified when you consider that you could eat a very good steak for €40 per person. Unfortunately we won't be coming anymore because the price doesn't match the rest.

When I pick up something to take home from the On the Go Asian on the corner, I get MORE quality and quantity for less than half the price. I was totally disappointed. Wir waren nach langer Zeit mal wieder im The East, da wir mal wieder Lust auf Sushi hatten. Leider hat sich die Qualität des Essens nicht wirklich verbessert. Das Sushi ist gut, aber nicht herausragend. Leider hat sich der Service wirklich verschlechtert. Wenn man a la Carte isst, und nicht das Taste (all you can eat - Bestellung per Tablett am Tisch) wählt, wird man völlig übersehen. Die Kellner und Kellnerinnen sind die ganze Zeit damit beschäftigt den Leuten, die all-you-can-eat gewählt haben, ihr Essen an den Tisch zu bringen, und übersehen VÖLLIG, das jemand von der Karte bestellt hat, und eventuell auch noch etwas nachbestellen würde. Auf eine Nachbestellung von Ingwer und Wasabi mussten wir ewig warten, so dass das Essen unangenehm unterbrochen wurde. Getränke, obwohl lange leer, wurden überhaupt nicht beachtet. Nachdem wir nach eigener Ansprache des Personals dann endlich nochmal eine Karte für den Nachtisch bekommen hatten, und direkt etwas bestellten, wurde dies in den nächsten 20 Minuten nicht gebracht, so dass wir uns frustriert entschieden zu gehen. Natürlich stand der Nachtisch auf der Rechnung. Wurde dann aber umgehend storniert. Das Essen ist nach wie vor Ok, jedoch ist a la Carte speisen am Abend kaum mehr möglich, bzw. Sehr frustrierend. Hier sollte die Geschäftsführung dringend gegensteuern, und das Personal darauf schulen, auf Kunden zu achten die NICHT all you can eat wählen. Schade eigentlich. Waren früher gern dort. Denke aber das bis zum nächsten Besuch einige Zeit vergehen wird…

We went to The East again after a long time because we were in the mood for sushi again. Unfortunately the quality of the food hasn't really improved. The sushi is good, but not outstanding. Unfortunately the service has really deteriorated. If you eat a la carte and don't choose the Taste (all you can eat - order from a tray at the table), you will be completely overlooked. The waiters and waitresses are constantly busy bringing their food to the people who have chosen all-you-can-eat and COMPLETELY overlook that someone has ordered from the menu and may also order something more would. We had to wait forever for a repeat order of ginger and wasabi, so the meal was unpleasantly interrupted. Drinks, although empty for a long time, were ignored at all. After we finally got another menu for dessert after speaking to the staff and ordered something straight away, it wasn't brought for the next 20 minutes, so we decided to leave in frustration. Of course dessert was on the bill. But it was canceled immediately. The food is still OK, but dining a la carte in the evening is hardly possible anymore, or very frustrating. The management should urgently take countermeasures here and train the staff to pay attention to customers who do NOT choose all you can eat. It's a shame actually. We used to love going there. But I think it will be some time before the next visit...

Ambience is ok. You can also sit outside. Food is ok, but nothing special, but it is more expensive than elsewhere. If you want to take something with you, i.e. leftovers, the box costs extra. Wasn't mentioned before. The waiter definitely wanted more tip and first asked for the amount in disbelief and then had to cancel the amount. Rolled his eyes. So you don't go out to eat and HAVE to tip a certain amount. It was just for lunch, quick in 15 minutes. The behavior was cheeky and discredited us. We won't be going there any time soon. If the waiter relies on tips, the restaurant owner should probably pay more to avoid such embarrassment. The restaurant was almost empty inside. Doesn't seem to be going well. That on a weekend.

Yesterday I had dinner with three friends in the East. Well, I was at the east but I basically didn't eat anything. Let's start from the beginning. You come in and stand around until an employee happens to have time to sit us down. But okay, it wasn't so wild at first. When our waiter came, I was already negative at first. As we walked past we were told to order or wait. We hadn't decided yet, but you could already order drinks. I told the waiter this too and immediately had a bad feeling about it, the aura he had was simply unfriendly. However, drinks came quickly and we were able to order food straight away. 2 of my friends chose a la cart and a friend and I chose the taste menu. We received the IPad without any explanation and started ordering. When we sent our first order, the tablet hung up and was taken away again. In the meantime my friends already got their food, which looked very good, I have to say. Now I waited and I waited. Sometime after 20 minutes my friend's spring rolls arrived and after half an hour I received two nigiris of my order. Lots of rice and a hint of a piece of salmon, one nigiri per plate (you can choose 4 things per order, there were two nigiri in the picture and I ordered 2x, it was probably only one nigiri per item) Then I continued waiting. In the meantime our waiter came and brought us a map, paper and pen and just said 2x4 and left again. 2x4 What? Per person? Lemons, apples, pears? That was it for now with the waiter at our table and with my food. As I walked past, I pointed out to him that I was missing two items from my first order, no response, just an annoyed yes. After another 10 minutes I asked again, again nothing (the note with our second order had still not been picked up at that moment) I got up, put the piece of paper in his hand and said, I'm still waiting, I've been waiting for an hour. As a reminder, I had received two nigiris so far. When another 10 minutes passed, I was fed up. I said, I'll pay for my nigiris and my drink and I won't wait any longer. According to the menu, the menu costs €23, which of course I wasn't prepared to pay. The waiter was very unfriendly “that’s 10€” I asked how much it all cost. He leaves saying they are now waiting at the next table. In the meantime I calculated it myself and came to €8.10, so why €10? I then said I would get €8.10 and I wouldn't pay more. Then came the saying that you have to expect that there might be waiting times if you do something like that. Yes, sir, but not almost 2 hours and at the neighboring tables it seemed to work, people who came after us received one meal after the other. I think the quality (sushi) is very bad, sushi rolls are cut very thin. As mentioned here, it looks like discount sushi. The service we received was unfriendly, overwhelmed and annoyed. If he doesn't feel like the job, he should think about whether a change makes sense. If a visit is planned, I would definitely order a la cart, nothing should go wrong. However, I am disappointed and will not come again.

If you want to have a relaxed meal, this is the place for you. The dishes, which can be ordered via a tablet system, are small and can be reordered every 15 minutes. So it's not a classic buffet with completely overflowing plates. You can choose between various sushi dishes but also classic dishes such as fried rice, duck and soups. Alternatively, you can also eat according to the menu. The service is always quick, unless you eat there on the weekend when the house is full, which is understandable.

“As it echoes into the forest, so it echoes out.” The many mediocre reviews had me worried about my visit last week. We've been to the East a lot, but maybe only 3 times in the last 2 years. The quality of the food was no longer that special and the selection at XTaste had never changed. And now this time the tablet came and a new East world has finally opened up. Many new dishes were added and only a few were deleted. The service was really great. All the waiters were very friendly and the “food was NOT thrown on the table” (read other reviews). Here is an example of the nice service. A cola was really waiting without any fizz. We asked nicely and a new one was brought to us without charging for it. We'll come back more often in the future. Not cheap, but the quality was almost like it was at the beginning when it opened

The staff is inattentive and unfriendly, the food and drinks are not served, but rather slammed or thrown onto the guest's table, and some plates slide a little along the table... It's a shame, given the prices you wouldn't always, I would probably go there more often, but it always takes me several years to recover from this service. Been there 20+ times over the last 5 years Highly recommend the Taste 120/Taste 180. Food quality is higher than at any other buffet style restaurant i have been at. Servers seem stressed during peak times because of the Taste option and sometimes dishes will be mixed up but as it is buffet style it really doesnt matter. Try the battered ice cream.

The East Hanau is actually our favorite restaurant. Service is nice, the food is delicious and the atmosphere invites you to linger. The restaurant is really big, but definitely doesn't have a canteen feeling! The only thing that annoys and disappoints us is that when you pay you are asked how much you would like to tip. I don't think that's appropriate. I like to tip, but not when asked. As a matter of principle, I don't give one. When I answered “no” the last time the question came up, the waiter was immediately offended and didn’t say “bye” or anything like that. A pity. Despite the one negative point, we of course continue to eat there :)

The food in the restaurant was okay, but you could still tell that the food wasn't freshly prepared. The reason why I'm giving a review here is because the catering in the restaurant is very unfriendly, the waiters put the food on the table heartlessly (almost throwing it) and such a waiter dropped the spoon on the floor when we ordered soup and the Soup was served without a spoon. When we settled the bill, we gave ourselves a tip from our cash and cheeky sayings like "that's fitting" even though I never said I wanted to give a tip here. Briefly summarized: The older man in the store is an absolute disgrace. The waiters are heartless. Food is okay

The food that should be warm is at most lukewarm. The staff slams the carelessly arranged bowls onto the table as they pass by. When it comes to drinks, they don't ask who owns which, they simply put them down without saying a word. The dishes are far from the pictures on the tablet. If you're just hungry and don't value a nice overall experience, you can go here. Otherwise it is not the first choice. In general, it's not an eye-catcher when counter staff in Adidas jackets and Puma sweatpants stand behind the counter with AirPods in their ears. The staff actually manages to have a cell phone on the tray via video call so that they can follow up on the phone call at the table. We had to wait about 30 minutes for the bill. The restaurant wasn't even a quarter full. A recommendation would be the Mikado in Koblenz.

Today was the last chance, I'll need a new shop. The quality has become bad. Nobody cleans up anymore. Addendum: Today I was really annoyed. The start of the holidays, then the time between courses was increased again and the food really wasn't as usual. We waited 15 minutes for drinks. I always liked going to Taste 120. You can always order 4 small dishes per round in two hours. At the beginning it was 5 minutes, then 10. That was OK, you should enjoy it too. By now the clock was at 15 minutes. That's really cheeky. The portions are really bite-sized. So a piece of sushi on a plate. You inhale this and then wait 14:58 minutes for the next round. That's not possible at that price. It tastes good, but you just don't get anything.

Rarely visited such a bad restaurant. Staff unfriendly, unclean table was assigned but neither cleaned nor cutlery added. I've been to the East several times. It's a cool thing with the tablet. Once the wifi didn't work, but it was saved and once everything took a long time because we had one free drink per person. Otherwise, it's a shame that not all dishes per person per round come at the same time. You think about something when you order. The food never came from everyone at the table at the same time. Everyone watched everyone else eat. Nevertheless, each of us had 20 plates, everything was correct, everything was tasty. We will be back! Our visit today was a disaster. After the second round of orders, the tablet system failed. Can happen. But instead of giving any information to the guests, the staff just ran around frantically and didn't answer any questions. After ages we got a notepad to order old school. So far so good. Except for the fact that no one actively collected the papers. After asking several times, they took our order with them. However, we were "put off" so often with the sentence: "Sorry, it's slow" that at some point we were just annoyed. In general, our waitress behaved very unprofessionally and ignored us several times instead of simply explaining to us what was going on. In addition, due to the technical problems, our food and drink took an excessively long time or did not arrive at all. We were very dissatisfied with the overall service and will probably go elsewhere in the future. We actually found the food delicious but unfortunately that didn't save the evening.

The evening had started so well. We were happy that we got a reservation and started in a good mood. The first meal was quickly ordered from All You Can Eat and then we had to wait and wait... In the end, instead of the planned 120 minutes, we were in the restaurant for over 3 hours. We only received our ice cream after several requests after waiting for over an hour and the statement from the service was that it can take 15 minutes until the ice cream is served at the table becomes. We were here today and are thrilled! We got the first round of the little bowls and my husband wasn't feeling great beforehand. During the meal he suddenly felt extremely ill. The food was so delicious we would have loved to stay there but unfortunately we had to cancel. Such great service! We only had to pay a small part of the price and had to cancel the buffet. Despite making a reservation for 8 p.m., we had to wait in line for over an hour because there were obviously too many reservations taken for the same time. A plan that was obviously not well thought out. Even more disappointing was the way the staff handled the situation: instead of understanding or apologies, we were met with unfriendliness. Now I've been sitting at the table for 20 minutes and instead of looking forward to a pleasant dinner, I'm writing this review. A visit to a restaurant should be an enjoyable experience, but unfortunately that expectation was not fulfilled tonight.

I ate here once with my girlfriend today and never again. To reserve a table, telephone impossible, had to drive there and reserve on site. Food was cold when it arrived (the food that came fresh from the grill). After we sat down at the table, it took about 20 minutes until the first waitress came and asked us about the menu. We decided to have dinner in the evening, after another 15 minutes she came back with the iPad and put it on the table without a word. We then ordered drinks (ordering process familiar from other restaurants). After about 20 more long minutes, the first drinks arrived and were placed on the table without a word. Unfortunately we had to complain about a drink because it was wrong (ordered 2 cokes, we got a coke and a Fanta). After a total of 90 minutes of waiting, the first sushi plates arrived. We were thinking about going, but it's hard to find an alternative on Valentine's Day. Food selection very manageable! The standard sushi was quite ok.

In my opinion the quality of the food has deteriorated compared to previous visits. The plates were cleared without asking whether we liked it or whether we would like anything else (dessert, drinks, etc.). We had to draw attention to ourselves several times so that we could reorder drinks. We would have liked to order another drink, but didn't because we felt like we were being ignored. Once and never again! Even though we had reserved, we stood there for almost 15 minutes. Entrance area without being noticed. When we sat down, the card was carelessly slammed onto the table. After an eternity and asking, we were allowed to order. When we asked about gluten-free dishes, they were unable to provide any information, even though they were advertised in bold at the front of the menu. We ordered sushi. After another eternity, part of the order arrived. Loveless and stale. The second part was forgotten. Instead of delivering this quickly, nothing happened again for a good 30 minutes. After almost two hours we ordered the bill. And we were charged in full for the Oberhammer, our two drinks and the sushi that took some getting used to. It didn't help that you were sitting comfortably...

Order value over 30 euros did not receive a liter bottle of Sprite, should wait, I would then receive 2 liter bottles of Cola with the next order. It's 2.5 km from the restaurant to my house, but I have to order again before I get it. This is called customer service. The food was hardly seasoned, then in the flyer order over 30 euros and get a 1l bottle of cola for free. Now ask me, why should I wait until the next order? Mhhhhhhh that's customer service, that's how you want to build a customer base? Call that deceiving the customer, you want the customer to be satisfied? But not like this. There was nothing seasoned, 30 euros spent on food where everything tasted bland. The organic bin instead of the stomach is happy about 30 euro dishes. I'm not the type of person to just accept it. The customer is your capital, satisfied customers are good customers. Not the other way around. Personally, I think it's a shame, if you're interested in making things right then I'm open to it. I'm curious whether HAPPY YUMMY will get rid of this or not.
