A very pleasant place where to eat one of the best Burger

The burger and fries were just about acceptable. Unfortunately, the burger buns were small toasties and really not suitable for the large meat patties. The meat was relatively thick, more like a meatball. There was some gristle. The fries were very crispy and dark. Unfortunately, most of the fries were also small, broken pieces. But maybe that's due to the type of fries used. Who knows. All in all, you pay about €15 for a burger and fries. You can get much better quality for less elsewhere.

It’s a shame you can’t give 13+ stars. Even on the rare occasion that they miss their own shockingly high standards, it’s still never below 11/10 on their worst day. Food ingredient quality, seasoning, cook temperatures, beer and other alcohol selections, all amazing; right down to one of the best cheesecakes you’ll ever find even in New York or in my case from my Great Grandmother from New York. Not just the best for American food in Germany, but on the scale of the best American food anywhere. Staff are at least as exceptional as the food and atmosphere. You’re lucky if you live nearby. The half price selections for their version of happy hour like wings and draft beer are also all phenomenal.

It's hard to put into words. Here's a 1-star review where someone complains about the paper towels and the toilet. This person is absolutely right. For the same price, you could go to the nearest Peter im Glück. There, the toilet is clean, you can actually have a conversation because the music isn't so loud, the staff has to smile or they'll be fired, and the menu is in German. The burgers are tasty. But not as tasty as at Bird. It was my first time, and I'll be back. I had the house burger. Absolutely delicious! Again and again. Much better than those fairytale joints. But, between you and me, I haven't been to Berlin in a long time, and it's unusual what's accepted as normal restaurant practice here. So, 5 stars for the food with Berlin service in a Berlin location. It wouldn't be possible to run a place this profitably in Munich. If someone goes to the "mimi Deutsch Pop" Ralf Forster concert in Berlin and wants to grab a quick fancy bite beforehand, they're in for a rude awakening. But if you're going to tream and need a proper base beforehand with 250g of meat and enough fat to kill a donkey, then you're in the right place. The burgers are delicious! What a mess, what a slop! Bearded guys need a bath afterward. And the meat juices run over the fries while you eat, making them even better! I was covered in it up to my elbows and still full the next morning. They have an angry hour where you get a beer, a shot, and 5 chicken wings for €7.50. Dude, how awesome is that? My cardiologist hates this trick!

An absolute must-try for anyone who loves burgers. The burgers are very rustic, but also perfectly cooked. If you like a lot of meat, this is the place for you. Personally, it was even too much for me. The patty didn't seem to be the right size for the bun, and the lettuce was just placed next to it for me to assemble myself. So, if you want a truly old-school burger, this is the place for you; it's not quite my cup of tea.

We originally came to The Bird in 2013 and it was the best burger we’d ever had. I checked the reviews before we went again and they were still good. Not true sadly. I’m sure it used to be two thin succulent burger patties but now it’s just one big one and it was so tough and dry. I ordered mine Medium and it was still pink inside but so hard on the outside. It also didn’t really taste of much; like the meat hadn’t been seasoned. We were the first table in there so it wasn’t busy at all; only one other table. My mum got the club sandwich which she said was okay. I would normally complain but I was so hungry I just needed to eat something. It was really disappointing. The only saving grace were the fries! They were 10/10 and perfectly seasoned. And the service was also good. The team were very friendly. But overall a really unsatisfying visit I’m afraid.

The burgers and fries were delicious, and the staff was very friendly. If I'm ever back in Berlin, I would definitely go there again.

Despite making a reservation 10 days in advance, they gave us a table in front of the kitchen, even though everything was empty when we arrived, and we sat there, amidst the stench of grease. We ordered burgers and, at the last minute, ordered the fried chicken, which caught my eye on the menu. I'm so glad we did, because the burgers were atrocious. It was the worst and most incompetent burger I've ever had. You have to catch the waiters to order, and they don't even look around. They're drinking beer with the customers anyway, and you don't really care. Instead of going here, you could go to any burger joint in Berlin. You'll have a more delicious and enjoyable evening for half the price.

Probably one of the best dinners I’ve had in a while. The option to swap the toast for brioche easily makes it one of the top three burger spots in Berlin. It’s probably the only place in the city that does chili cheese fries any justice. (Burgermeister had great ones too, but they discontinued them.) The cheesecake is just perfect.

Very disappointed with the staff’s attitude I was a regular guest at this restaurant and would come here specifically for one of my favorite dishes. This time I made a reservation in advance, as it was important for me to have dinner at a specific time. Upon arrival, it turned out that the maître d’ couldn’t find my reservation in the system. I showed him two confirmation emails, but instead of trying to resolve the situation, I heard a rude “that’s not my problem.” No apology, no offer of an alternative table, not the slightest willingness to help. Honestly, I understand that technical glitches can happen with any booking system. But it was precisely the rude attitude and complete indifference to my situation that hurt me so much. If the staff member had at least politely explained the situation and tried to find a solution, I would have been understanding. Instead, I was essentially shown the door without a single word of regret. It’s sad to lose a place I used to enjoy, but after being treated this way, I have no desire to return.

A lovely atmosphere that perfectly complemented the friendliness and vibe of the staff. The food was excellent, the burgers were huge and delicious. I had the burger with bacon and egg – a 10/10. It truly felt like stepping into an American atmosphere for a little while. I'd gladly come again.

The burger I ordered (medium) turned out to be only medium-rare. As compensation, I received a piece of lemon cake.

The place is directly opposite the Max-Schmeling-Halle. The burgers are a disaster... the 250g of meat is one big lump served on a cheap Aldi toast bun. I ordered a well-done burger, and after a 75-minute wait, I finally got it medium! It's obvious that a burger of that size can't be cooked through when it's such a big lump! The staff kept changing. My complaint about the undercooked burger was met with the dismissive comment, "I'll pass it on to the kitchen." I was still charged full price. The restrooms are filthy, and if I had noticed that beforehand, I wouldn't have ordered anything from there. The cutlery is served in a beer stein on the table, and the napkins are just a simple paper towel roll. The menu is only available in English... so bring a long stick! The staff runs around like headless chickens all evening; it's always someone different bringing the food or drinks to the table. Reservations for a table were ignored, so instead of a window seat, I ended up on the stairs to the restroom! The food was okay... but I probably had a half-cooked patty on my plate rather than a burger. It's important to know that they don't have Diet Coke/Zero or anything similar, no sweet potato fries, and no fried onions, which would be typical American fare. They try to do a lot and deliver very little... at this price point, it's a complete no-go!

The Bird offers nice burgers. But I don't think they are anything out of the ordinary. But they taste good. However, a long wait of over 45 minutes, and then a slightly special waiter, which did not make the experience better.

It was a long-awaited visit and we had booked a table from home. The staff seemed busy and didn't have much energy. We were seated almost next to a speaker that played very loud and very mixed music. Talking at the table was not easy. When the waiter took our order, we ordered a steak that should be medium, when it came it was rare and not at all cut. The burgers, on the other hand, they can figure it out. Tasted really good and pulls the place up to a 2 figure for this reason. To end the evening, a waiter had to clear another table and spilled a greasy sauce on the floor and splashed my son and daughter's pants. The son was given a glass of water and a cloth to clean it. We had to wait forever to get hold of a waiter so we could take out and pay. We might have expected a discount or something on top of their clumsy and lacking service. But nothing. The experience was far below expectations and we obviously won't be back.

The patty (medium) was quite coarse/tough and unfortunately smelled unpleasantly of a pigpen or zoo. I know exactly what fresh beef should smell like. The chef answered my questions about it (meat from Canada/Europe), but made me feel like everything was normal and said I was the first to say so. He did offer me something else, but I lost my appetite.

We had a fantastic experience, the food and drinks were great, the atmosphere was amazing, and the owner and bartender were the nicest and made the experience just so much better. *Highly recommended*!

I’ll be honest as a vegetarian I might not be the target audience for this place anyway. And my friends were telling me that the meat is quite good. But the food was super greasy, burgers were super minimalistic and deconstructed for some reason, meaning you actually just ate a bun with a patty inside and salad and tomato next to it. Idk I wouldn’t recommend it personally. But the staff was quite nice

The "burger" is served in individual pieces for you to assemble yourself, in a too-small toastie with soggy fries. I ate some of it because I arrived hungry. I've also never seen such a thin slice of cheese—just a hint of cheddar.

I honestly don't think you can give less than 5stars... unless maybe you come here with the wrong expectations - and... hey, that's on you (especially after reading my review). This place is a stable. I don't know if they have the best burgers in town (this is something highly subjective and also changes on a daily basis). I've been frequenting this place for 10+ years. And the food has only gotten better. Here's my recommendation: Get the wings. Some "hot wings" and then some "Brodi's wings". The latter are more unusual: crispy, sweet, and flavorful. A more creative take on classic wings, but still approachable and simply delicious! The atmosphere resembles an American sports bar in the best possible way (and without the tv screens). The service is impressively efficient. I've witnessed extremely busy nights (perfectly) handled by only two(!) girls behind the bar. During those nights, service is friendly, albeit short and effective. I do find the steak somewhat overpriced and wouldn't necessarily recommend coming for just that. But if you're in the mood for a messy burger, some amazing hot wings, and amazing German beer - you won't regret your choice. I hope, I'll be able to enjoy this place for another 10+ years and get my weekly fix of delicious wings and fast, yet friendly, service. -Phil

Unfortunately, it's out of date, and the food was very bad. We had the Da Woik and the Crack Burger. Unfortunately, we had to fish out tons of gristle from the burger, and the fries were way too greasy. The Caesar was a disaster and tasted only of vinegar. A small souvenir was the pain in the tree afterwards. Never again! The bald man was unfriendly and impatient.

I've been a fan of The Bird since the very beginning. Long before Christburger, Burgeramt, and the like, this place simply had arguably the best burger in Germany. And around 2008, it served the only decent NY cheesecake in Berlin. And when it was all gone, it was all gone - love it. I haven't been here for at least five years and hadn't heard much good. We easily got a table for two on a Friday evening - but it was also December 23rd, so the capital is already missing about 350,000 people, especially in Prenzlauer Berg ;P Both burgers were ordered medium rare, and both were cooked through. That really shouldn't be happening, especially when you're always boasting that you should never order a burger done because it's a betrayal of the cow. The parties were thick and juicy, the rest of the food was familiar and good. The Caesar salad looked a bit chopped up, but the dressing was very good - I'm very strict in that regard. Incidentally, the food arrived about 20 minutes after ordering, and the timing was always good. I'll definitely be back – everyone can have a bad day. The Bird will always be The Bird – I haven't had a better US-style burger anywhere in Berlin. But next time, please order it right in the middle ;)

TL;DR - Worst and most overpriced burger and fries I've tried in Berlin. I don't understand how is this place recommended as "good burgers". 20 euros for a small burger + awful fries. You can get better fries in almost any döner joint. The bread holding the burger is small and tasteless. The burger itself is offered and recommended in medium-rare and medium options which is very dangerous to eat because when meat is ground, any bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella, etc.) on the surface gets mixed throughout. That means the center of the patty could contain harmful bacteria, and unless it reaches a safe internal temperature, they may survive. Service was nice. Atmosphere - loud "american" music. Bottom line - overpriced restauraunt, bad food, loud, suitable for "american" outings with a big group who enjoy these kind of places.

The hamburgers were horrible - chewy

It's okay. We had the Crack Burger and the standard chicken wings. The wings were too tomatoey for my taste, and the Blue Ranch dip was way too bland. The burger was okay. Unfortunately, the meat didn't hold together when eaten. Otherwise, the owner was very friendly, and the service was good. The food came quickly. The ambiance isn't exactly my style. Rustic "American." The table we sat at was slightly sticky.

Their blue cheese burger is amazing. My favorite burger in the world.

The best hamburger I've ever eaten. The bread is interesting, like flatbread, but you can also get classic bread, but it's not necessary. The presentation is also interesting; tomatoes, lettuce, and onions are on the side, not inside the burger. The patty looks small, but it's 250g, incredibly thick. The mayonnaise is real, delicious. Cheddar is a must-have. And the music 👌🏻

We had some delicious burgers here on our sons' recommendation. Excellent quality food, excellent service – we'll be back!

There is no good burger place in Berlin. This place was suggested by couple of my friends, but still it is no good. The everything was dry. Bread, burger, fries. Service was slow

Interesting restaurant. I really liked the atmosphere and the food. Lots of options on the menu. The burger is huge and comes with plenty of fries. The meat was very tasty and cooked just right. The service wasn't great, but that's okay. We also ordered wings, and they were great. It was really busy, so I'd recommend making a reservation.

The franks red hot wings are pretty good, but I only received six drums, would’ve been nice if there was a mix of drums and flats. Sauce was amazing, some parts of the wings were crispy which was 10/10, but other times they were really gummy, which I didn’t like. Ranch is also 10/10. They are still some of the best wings I’ve had in Germany, though that isn’t a difficult feat tbh. Overall a solid wing experience for Germany. One thing I will say is that the Caesar salad was disgusting. The dressing tasted nothing like any Caesar I’ve ever tasted. It tasted like straight up olive oil, but not in a good way. I don’t recommend the Caesar salad. There was hardly any Parmesan so it was mostly lettuce and about 7ish croutons. Not worth 8€ IMO. And sorry, but 4€ for a 300ml Coke Zero is criminal even in this economy. Service was good though. I’d go back but I wouldn’t dare get that salad again.

Just had my second visit to The Bird in Berlin after two years, and they’ve still got it. Same top-notch professionalism, insanely tasty burgers, and honestly the best fries I’ve ever had. The Leffe Blond pairs perfectly with everything. Solid spot that never disappoints.

Burgers were great except the buns. I should have changed it to a brioche. Menu says that you shouldn’t eat burgers with knife and fork. However it is almost impossible with regular buns. Again, burgers were great.

Awesome burgers! The staff if very nice, and the snacks are really good too. It is a bit more expensive than your normal burger joint, but well worth it. It's probably better to make a reservation if you don't want to wait to much.

This is one of the best burger spots in Berlin.

The burgers were ok but the meat was partly still raw, service was nice but we ordered 10 chicken strips and 5 were uncomfortable. The ambience was nice but the music was bad and much too loud.

Unfortunately, the service yesterday was disastrous. We were asked for our order once after we asked the waitress inside to come outside. We saw her again afterward when she brought us our starter and main course at the same time, and once briefly with our only drinks of the evening. Then, unfortunately, it was over until we went inside to pay.

The Bird is an ok burger joint for its price tag. It probably deserves a tiny bit less attention than it is getting now as there are a lot of alternatives for better burgers, but I get that people want to go at least once to say "I've been to that famous place and burgers was nice". Bun selection was limited, and there were aggressive guidance on how it should be served - medium was their limit, not that i mind. Interior and exterior design is simply bland. Long bar and the music is very nice, definitely the best parts. Service was a bit self important - like the type that will make you think whether or not you want to leave a tip, maybe because they served in English - and a bit slow, like dishes served at around 40 mins. mark, after we inquired about it, not like in rush hour or anything. Nothing fantastic or simply bad. It was ok, try once.

The Bird in Berlin is hands down my favorite burger place ever! Their BBQ (any any other) burger is absolutely amazing - juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time. The homemade fries are the perfect side, crispy and delicious. Chris, one of the waiters, is fantastic - always friendly and makes sure the service is spot on. Luckily, I live not too far from The Bird, so I get to enjoy it regularly. Highly recommend!

I was there on a Sunday for lunch, a very nice place and it wasn't crowded. We sat down immediately (we had also booked through Google) and we were able to order right away. The food is excellent, the sandwiches are served with a different bread than what you usually find around and we liked it a lot! The staff was kind and helpful. The only slightly off note (in my opinion) are the slightly high prices of the sandwiches (from 18 to 21 euros if I'm not mistaken). I understand the genuineness of the meat but I think they are a little above average. In any case I wouldn't mind going back again. I recommend it.

Went here for a late lunch, by just looking at some recommendations on the web and decided on this place. This place has a nice "burger joint" vibe. Ordered "Da Birdhouse" with some fries and a beer. Got to say one of the juciest, most greasy and delicous burgers I have ever had. Didn't add any pictures because my phone died, but the staff was so kind that they accepted to charge my phone.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a good experience. The service wasn't friendly. The food took forever. We ordered our burgers medium... they were rare. The mayo had been sitting out in the sun for ages, so we didn't want to eat it. One burger consisted of just a meatball (it could have just been a bad second-to-last one) with American cheese - unfortunately, it had no flavor at all. And then there were the prices. Oh well... It used to be better.

Seven years in Berlin and I feel like I’ve finally found a bar that feels like a local. The staff are incredibly welcoming, fun and friendly, the beer is great and the food is INSANE!! First place in Berlin I’ve found franks wings and they’re delish! Friendliest staff I’ve encountered in Berlin - already excited to go back 🤩

Unfortunately, you can see that this place has seen better days. If you want to experience the gastronomy of the 2000s, this is the place for you. The portions are slapped onto the plate without any love. For example: the wings come with three whole carrots (why?). There are better ways to be pretty and appealing. We had a burger for the two adults each, and nuggets and a kids' cheeseburger for our two boys. My wife wanted it medium, I medium rare, and the waiter didn't ask about the kids'. We assumed it would be at least medium-well. Well, my burger was cooked to the right level, my wife and kids' patties were rare, and instead of the brioche bun we had specially ordered, my wife had tough toasties. So two out of three burgers went back, and the kids' burger was brought out first. It was burnt, and still far from acceptable for children. My wife's toasties were replaced with buns, and the patty was re-fried. The results were more bad than good. We were then given a discount on the four drinks and the children's burger as compensation. Overall, it's not worth a visit. There are far better shops in town. It's a shame about the food, which doesn't seem to be handled by skilled hands.

These burgers are the best I’ve tasted so far around the world, and their quality hasn’t decreased in fifteen years.

On a not busy sunday I passed by. After getting seated and with a direct order it took 15min to get my drink and them after another 30min (so 45min total) I decided to pay for my drink nd leave as waiting 3/4 of an hour for a burger and fries seems like a joke tbh. Last time I was here it took them 30min too and the food was ok, the buns are a choice for sure. Frankly, this place isnt worth a visit.

As American living in Germany this restaurant has made me so happy and feel like home. The chicken strips and ranch sauce was an amazing appetizer and then the burgers (cooked medium) are highly recommended. It was loud but it was a fun experience and atmosphere. Next time im in berlin i will be coming back.

Great burger. Fat and juicy patty, the blue cheese sauce was good, the burger with the Swiss cheese and the mushrooms was great too. The bun is a bit small and couldn’t hold the patty all the way. Huge amount of fries came with the burger.
