The dosai in particular was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside – just like in South India! The atmosphere in the restaurant and on the terrace is warm, the staff very friendly and attentive. You can tell that people cook with passion here. If you love Tamil cuisine or want to get to know it, this is the right place for you. Absolute recommendation!

This was our first time at Thamarai and we really enjoyed it. The dishes are exceptional: not what you get everywhere! We enjoyed it very much and the service was super friendly and attentive, and individual requests were taken into account. The outdoor area and annex are currently being renovated, so there will be a slight deduction in the ambience. But you can get over it. We'd love to come back!

It doesn't actually happen that often, but I actually can't quite understand the many particularly good reviews here. The food was good but a bit bland, the service was very friendly but also overwhelmed with a few tables, the atmosphere was pleasant but not necessarily authentic. Unfortunately, the waiting time of almost an hour was a major drawback. Maybe it was an unfavorable day for us and the opinion is ultimately just subjective. But overall it was rather worse than expected. Too bad.

I couldn't resist and ate everything. For this reason I couldn't add a photo. 🤣 I was in Sri Lanka and ate very spicy but delicious food there. The food here is not that spicy. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun. Clean and very tasty food. If you don't come, you'll lose a lot.

Yesterday I was at the THAMARAI Restaurant in Heilbronn for the first time – and I was absolutely thrilled! The food was just fantastic. The spices, the flavors – everything tasted so authentic and fresh. The Ceylon Chicken Curry in particular was a highlight, super spicy and just the right amount of spiciness. The vegetarian dishes are also really tasty and made with a lot of love. The atmosphere is totally cozy, you immediately feel at home. The furnishings are stylish and there are lots of beautiful details that make the whole thing really special. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. You can immediately tell that the work here is done with heart. The waitress took the time to explain everything and the recommendations were great! I can really only recommend THAMARAI - regardless of whether you already know Sri Lankan cuisine or want to try it for the first time. I'll definitely be back! 😊

A small menu offering excellent cuisine with the perfect choice of spices. The portions are generous and the prices reasonable. The two starters are delicious and the Ceylon chicken curry is excellent. A little more attentive service would have been nice (the waitress was in the kitchen throughout the meal and never came back to see if we needed anything). She was very nice, though.

I would like to report just as much, if not better, about our visit to this unique restaurant. ♥️🙏🏽✨ I have to admit that when I was offered the chance to go, I was very curious. However, I went there with absolutely no expectations. It was such a wonderful evening that I look back on so fondly! We called shortly beforehand and got a table for two. When we arrived there, we were greeted with a smile and a very warm welcome. Even this is not something that can be taken for granted these days and unfortunately in many restaurants you tend to be “handled over”. But not at Thamarai! :) The menu is very manageable, which is a good sign for me personally. There is still a lot to choose from and there is also something for vegetarians/vegans (and it is also marked on the menu, as is the level of spiciness of the dishes). We ordered the drinks and food and first examined everything around us. How do you say so beautifully? Arrive first, right? 😃 The restaurant is very stylishly decorated, the music plays very pleasantly in the background, so you can still have a pleasant conversation. Each table is lit separately, creating a very pleasant, non-intrusive atmosphere. You can see the street directly from the window, but it is so insulated that you can't even hear it from inside. After ordering, both the drinks and the food didn't take long to arrive. The service was second to none and every single question was addressed. The food (we had the chicken spring rolls, lamb and eggplant, of course with garlic bread:) and the mango dessert) was great in terms of taste! One of the things we noticed was that the cutlery was very high quality. Another plus point! What we also noticed was the attentiveness of the service staff. We ordered dishes with a side of rice and of course our dishes came with a bowl of wonderfully fragrant rice. But when we ran out of rice and were still eating, new rice was brought to us before we even asked for it ourselves. We found this to be very attentive and appreciative. I could go on forever...it was just a wonderful experience and I'm really looking forward to going again soon! Many thanks to the whole Thamarai team ♥️ you made the evening unforgettable.
