It simply couldn't be worse. First we waited 20 minutes to place our order, then another 30 to get two cups of coffee with a dessert. After reminding us, the young man told us they would be served in 5 minutes, but that didn't happen either. We then simply walked away because we couldn't stand such impudence anymore. There were only four tables occupied on the terrace!

I was really happy with this restaurant, all those years but now im forced to change my positive review.. The prices are way much higher, thats not a problem for me BUT when the price increases and the quality goes down.. there’s no way to be happy with that. I will not come back.

Update 07/2024: Taumi is now taking action against my review for defamation. Very great 👏 Update 07/2023: Unfortunately, the owners/operators have learned nothing here. The Taumi was checked again on May 2, 2023 and again complained about by the food inspectors. I can only recommend that you take a look at the report yourself at the Food Control and Veterinary Department (0721/133-7101) and see for yourself. The response to the original review, which promised improvement, was simply deleted by the owners/operators. The Taumi was already criticized in 2020, 2021 and 2022, but unfortunately these are no longer isolated cases. From October 19th, 2022: Really bad, reading a report in the BNN from October 19th, 2022, I actually liked the Taumi: ashtray next to the rice cooker, expired food, mouse droppings and ant trail. It doesn't help much that the problems have been 'largely' eliminated. Such things should actually be obvious and not even happen. Especially since similar deficiencies were already listed in 2020 and 2021. It doesn't help if Springer SBK OHG has been testing since May but then fails an external inspection in June. You probably didn't learn from that with Taumi. The logical consequence for me is to avoid Taumi in the future.

Chain restaurant and you can feel it. The ambience is stylish and should make up for the bland food. The dishes are small but very expensive. You won't even get full with an appetizer. The teriyaki duck was good in terms of meat quality but completely unseasoned and tasteless. The beer was also stale and after asking whether there was also export beer, the waiter didn't know what it was. If you want to go out for Asian food, you'd better choose another restaurant than this faceless, inauthentic chain.

I love eating sushi and have never been disappointed at Taumi :) Super tasty and fresh, top quality. Very great atmosphere and the presentation of the food was also very nice. Service great too! If you enjoy the sushi and state it is guaranteed that you will taste the delicacies and abbondanti, Taumi è the posto good per voi. Also, dessert isn't there for me! I eat sushi really often and this place is one of the best places I ever tried. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant where you can have nice sushi in a nice location, that's the right one.

Bye bye Taumi, that’s it for us! We actually always liked being here, but it doesn't suit us anymore. When we last ordered to pick up, we noticed at home that one of the dishes had been mixed up - instead of "Udon in the Black Forest" it was dry chicken with dry glass noodles. Absolutely disappointing. The fried sushi was not a highlight (with chicken) or tasted completely different than before (salmon) and, apart from the bones, was very dominantly seasoned (soapy? Ginger?), so half of it ended up in the trash. Unfortunately for us it's too wrong to continue being a customer here. A pity!

Simply super delicious!! The service is very nice and polite, the atmosphere is relaxed and there are plenty of seats and the option to sit outside. The price is also very reasonable for the service and not to mention the food - it really tasted great. It looked clean and I will definitely go back.

I haven't eaten Asian food this well in a long time! The homemade curry was to die for. Perfect spiciness, perfect amount of veggies and chicken. The rice had been so delicious. Price and performance were top notch.

If you could give more than 5 stars, then the Taumi Karlsruhe - Asia Fusion would absolutely deserve it. Great service, very attractive presentation of the food on the plate (unfortunately I forgot to take more photos of the starters etc out of sheer joy) and - most importantly - OUTSTANDING taste and aromas! An immediate mental journey to Asia began with the memories that were immediately recalled here. THANK YOU!!!! There is a great selection of dishes with or without meat and you can of course (optionally) practice eating with chopsticks or use classic cutlery. Dad Ambiente offers both small and larger tables (there were five of us there) and you have a direct view of Taumi's open kitchen.

Unfortunately disappointing. Looks nice from the outside. We had ordered spring rolls, sushi and the number 14 - noodles with chicken. The food wasn't even average but unfortunately consistently bad. The chicken was extremely dry and the dish was very boring. Actually just rice noodles and a few pieces of meat. The spring rolls were tasteless, they only had a fried taste. You could hardly taste the shrimp or anything else. The sushi was also boring. Unfortunately.

The place is beautiful and the food was not only delicious but also very high quality. The staff was friendly and helpful in choosing the right dish. I will definitely go again.

Basically, the Taumi is an inviting restaurant, with, among other things, nice outdoor seating. The service staff were attentive and friendly at all times. The card was not in good condition. For starters we ordered the Almost Nude summer rolls for just €6. Looking back, I'm annoyed that I didn't complain straight away, because the summer rolls were filled with nothing other than lettuce and tofu. No cucumber, no mango, no rice noodles or peanuts as written in the menu. Sorry, but that's an absolute no go! If an ingredient is missing, okay, but the rolls were simply filled cheaply. I do it 100 times better at home. To drink I ordered a lemongrass tea for €5.50. What I got then was unbelievable. A few stalks of lemongrass (already brown at the ends) were thrown into lukewarm water - that's it! I don't think I have to say whether I liked it or not. Now to also mention the positive things, my crunchy tofu roll was delicious. Nevertheless, the negative criticisms outweigh the negative ones, so no recommendation.

-!! not for allergy sufferers!! - I ordered a classic meal with rice and chicken there, but was told that the peanut sauce should be made "without peanuts" due to an allergy. This was confirmed in a friendly manner and emphasized again when serving, "the number 15 without peanuts, bon appetit." While eating, small half nut elements appeared and the taste was very similar to peanut. At first I thought it was cashews that had been chopped into small pieces, but then the allergy shock set in. When I was told that I urgently needed a large amount of water to suppress myself and a new dish to take away, the water was brought without apology and the new food within 3 minutes. During the payment process, "sorry" was briefly mentioned, but the case also after being informed that allergy tablets had to be taken immediately, which were not healthy.... just a nod. To the greatest annoyance, in addition to the lack of understanding, the tap water was also charged at €1. Thanks... probably not anymore. The food was delicious later at home, the atmosphere looked good, but if you have allergies you should always keep a clear head in a job like this.

Food was okay But €4.50 for ONE sesame ball is pretty bad. Especially since Long Island was really catastrophic

The food has always been good. Unfortunately, the service was a bit chaotic. Things were not brought or were brought incorrectly. Now you have a new colleague in service. A funny dude with a mustache who now seems to have the place under control. Everything came super quickly and for once we weren't worried about not making it to the cinema on time.

The food is good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We went for lunch on a Monday and arrived when there was almost no one in the place. A waiter angrily told us that he did not know how to speak English and his colleague, who they said spoke English, served us half in English and almost all in German. He went from growling at us to smiling at us all the time. Then when taking note of the order he always did it in German. They began to bring the dishes, shouting from one end of the table to see who had ordered each dish. There was an error with the order. The same waiter came to rebuke me, shouting and complaining (he said it in English!), saying that I had ordered that. I politely told him that I had not asked for that and that I did not understand German, which is why we asked from the beginning if we could speak in English. We were all shocked by this. Finally, when we finished eating, he came over to tell me that he was sorry about the soup, that I had ordered it wrong but that everything was fine. Everything is very strange. I'm still in shock.

Food isn't bad but you get food poisoning

We reserved a table for 2 people for last Friday. The waiter led us to the table with dirty plates in his hands. He adjusted the chairs with his feet (his hands were occupied). After that he didn't pay any attention to us for a long time. At some point I got up myself and got two menu cards. A little later a group of four came into the restaurant. Another waiter led her to the table next to us, he immediately placed 4 menu cards and cutlery on the table. Later, “our” waiter came to the table of four next door to take the order. When he turned around, he saw us and wanted to take our order too. I then pointed out the missing cutlery to him. He then said to me: "It'll all happen later. Don't worry, you won't have to eat with your fingers." Without waiting for an answer, he turned around and left. When he came back with cutlery, I told him he could leave it alone because we wanted to leave. When he asked why, I told him that I found his comment about "eating with our fingers" cheeky and impudent and that we don't want to be served like that. He then said: "I'm sorry you can't take a joke." It's up to everyone whether they want to be served by such a rude, disrespectful person. We didn't think it was appropriate, so we left. Addendum: I would like to thank "our" waiter last Friday for getting us out of the restaurant in time (before we had eaten anything). Hygiene Fremdwort war vor 3-4Jahren ganz anders leider erst am Ende alles so festgestellt. Essen nicht mehr als Durchschnitt und preislich dafür einfach drüber. Bestellte eine Hauslimo ohne Eis dies wurde ignoriert und ich dachte mir nichts jedoch als ich nach dem zweiten Schluck kein Getränk mehr hatte weil 4Rieisige Eiswürfel drin waren beschwerte ich mich und die Bedienung der Herr fing an zu lachen. Am Ende weigerte ich mich das Getränk zu zahlen was verneint wurde und ich dann aber einfach aus der Endsumme ausgerechnet habe und nicht zahlte! Beschwerde beim Manegement wurde eingereicht und ein 50€ Gutschein angeboten aber da gehen wir nicht mehr hin, mit der Bitte den Service zu erziehen als Genugtuung.

Delicious, multifaceted sushi in a modern and authentic atmosphere. Eat Drink Absolute price-performance bomb!! The homemade drinks are a little more expensive but also worth the money. In my opinion, the sushi platters are particularly recommended. Service and atmosphere are very good, but could be improved. Hence 4 stars. The service is nice, but some don't speak German at all. The atmosphere is a bit strange because there is no music to be heard at all and you can therefore hear the neighbors talking more than usual, or the neighbors themselves :D Overall, absolute recommendation and we will come back.

After reading so many compliments about Taumi, I decided to come here to enjoy the Asian dishes. They should be ashamed of the false compliment (maybe it came from their co-workers). I couldn't find anything where Pho is more disgusting than Taumi. There are many better choices in Karlsruhe than Taumi

The restaurant is really a dream. The ambience is nice, modern and clean. In the evening it is particularly cozy because of the beautiful lighting. The sushi is A1, really fresh and beautifully prepared. The quality is great, I really enjoy going here. I give a little deduction for the service. We really had to wait a bit before our food came. We had the feeling that the waiters might have forgotten us. The quality and presentation of our order made everything better.😊😊 Keep it up!

Really good location but the food was poor and the service was incredibly BAD! There were four of us today, didn't even get a hello, just sat wherever you wanted. We had a large sushi plate and 2 lunch dishes. There was a hair on the raw tuna, then several more hairs were found in the chicken curry. No I'm sorry heard. Just asked if we wanted new plates. At the end, when we called the waitress's attention, we didn't get a word, just an angry expression on our faces. Much better in Bühl. Never again in KA

It's quite surprising. Sake is only available on the wine list, which is not served and there is only cutlery if you ask for it. It's probably your normal crazy Friday. We understand that everyone has a bad day sometimes. Good luck with your choice of day. 😉

Mango Ente bestellt. Essen ausgepackt, Fleisch war in diesem Zustand mit dem grauen Fleck. Ein Personal hat versucht den Fall aufzunehmen, also Fotos geschickt usw. Es soll Schönheitsfehler sein laut Küche, daher kann ich Gutschein bekommen, wenn ich möchte, war die Aussage. Für die Rückzahlung muss man paar Tage warten, da der Chef nie im Haus ist. Ansonsten meinte der Personal, er ist rein Aushilfe, also fühlte er nicht zuständig. Da ich irgendwie Appetit komplett verloren habe, wollte ich keinen Gutschein, sondern die Rückzahlung. Die Rückzahlung auf gezahlte Karte oder Paypal wurde abgelehnt. Für die Rückzahlung muss ich dann Essen wieder zurückbringen, also halbe Stunde wieder zurückfahren. Dies wollte ich nicht und ich habe die Kontaktadresse vom Chef gebeten. Dann kam eine falsche Emailadresse, daher musste ich von Homepage richtige Adresse finden. Obwohl Geschenkgutschein per Paypal auf Homepage angeboten wurde, anscheinend darf Paypal aber nicht für Rückerstattung genutzt werden. Insgesamt war die Reaktion vom Personal ziemlich enttäuschend. Entschuldigung war irgendwie Fremdwort und der Personal versuchte irgendwie per Rhetorik durchzusetzen und dies war sehr ärgerlich. Wieder einmal ein Erlebnis von der Servicewüste. Wenn in Frankreich, Italien, oder in Japan hätte es anders ausgesehen.

We were there a bit late and very lucky they still took us (2 people) even it was just us in the restaurant us. With friendly staff, quick efficiency service. One of the best Pho Bo I’ve tried. Fresh Sashimi with rice and house Sake was amazing me to having delicious Asian food in foreign country. We were enjoyed a lot, and it’s not far from Europabad .

While the service is swift, efficient and very professional, the food itself leaves much to be desired for sushi enthusiasts. Sushi mayo, unagi sauce, sesame oil. Those are the flavors constantly used in most of their sushi selections, masking the flavor of the fish and the poorly seasoned rice. A German friend that this is the kind of shoo meant for Germans as it is bland and masking all the flavors a German might not enjoy lol. I found that observation rather accurate. The pho bo was actually quite good, as were the very tasty drinks they offer. I recommend the basil lemonade. Reservations accepted online or by phone. Payments accepted by cash or card. Parking for free is available, limited. Access to the location is handicap friendly, but the restrooms are downstairs and the staircase is very narrow. Dishes for kids available. Vegan and vegetarian options available.

Essen sehr lecker. Empfehlenswert

Waren schon öfter dort essen und leider muss ich gestehen daß es uns auch schon einmal besser geschmeckt hat. Der Service ist gut wenn auch bei vielen der dort Angestellten die deutsche Sprache eher rudimentär veranlagt ist aber alle sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Tische waren von den Gäste davor noch etwas verdreckt aber nachdem wir darauf aufmerksam gemacht haben bat man uns dies zu verzeihen und hat den Tisch abgewischt. Man muss der Fairness halber auch sagen das an diesem Tag auch viel Betrieb war.

Udo Nudeln waren sehr angenehm. Hochpreisig aber gerechtfertigt. Essen war echt gut :)

Ich war bis jetzt von diesem Restaurant begeistert auch wenn die Preise etwas teuer sind. Nun dass ich in einem Artikel von 20.10.22 gelesen habe, dass Sie nach einer Kontrolle durch Lebensmittelkontrolleure aus hygienischen Gründen bemängeln waren, werde ich überlegen, bevor dorthin wieder zu gehen. Deswegen nun meine Bewertung von 1 Stern für Essen. Es muss nicht nur schön auf dem Teller vor dem Kunden aussehen... Schade!

Initially I had put 5 stars. This week I visited the restaurant again with some friends and we were shocked by the service, they had brought our food and drinks but didn’t come back to ask if we wanted to have another drink or so when we finished eating (we sat there for an hour or so and were almost the only clients). They weren’t friendly either. The food was okay. Our biggest surprise was when we left the restaurant, our hair and clothes smelled like frying oil. We will have to wash our jackets and everything else we had with us because it still smells so bad on the following day. This is really unacceptable. 😔

Wir waren im April diesen Jahres im Taumi, die Sushi-Platte war die beste, die wir jemals hatten. Nachdem aber offensichtlich bereits das zweite Mal dieses Restaurant auf der Karlsruher Ekelliste stand, werden wir es zukünftig meiden.

Im Winter war die Heizung ausgefallen und auf das Essen musste man ziemlich lange warten. Essen war sehr gut.

Am Anfang fand ich es wirklich super doch es hat mit der Zeit echt nachgelassen

Das Taumi ist mit aktuell neun Filialen primär im Südwesten aktiv. Am frühen Dienstagabend noch sehr ruhig, füllt es sich jedoch bald. Der Service ist schnell und effizient, aber behelligt uns nach dem Abräumen der Hauptgerichte nicht mit weiteren Angeboten. Ich starte mit "Tartar (Bluefin Thunfischtatar mit Avocado, Unagi Soße, Seetangsalat und Tobiko (Fischrogen), serviert mit vietnamesischem bánh đa (Reispapier)". Das ist eine wohlschmeckende Zubereitung, aber der günstige Preis von 8,50 Euro ist bereits ein Hinweis darauf, dass der Thunfisch-Gehalt eher homöopathisch ist. Für den Hauptgang wähle ich das Menu "Crispy Rocket (8 Stk. Lachs Crunchy Roll / 4 Stk. Nigiri)". Die Rolle ist derart durchfrittiert, dass der Lachs in ihrem Kern fast durchgegart ist. Das ist sowohl visuell als auch geschmacklich nicht mein Fall. Der namenlose kalte Sake schmeckt ungewöhnlich dünn, und ist völlig geschmacksneutral. Danach würde ich vermutlich auch eine Alkoholkontrolle unbeschadet überstehen. Wie ich erst nach meinem Besuch entdecke, schaffte es das Taumi zuletzt im Mai 2023 auf die (umgangssprachlich "Ekelliste" genannte) Ergebnisliste der Kontrollen der amtlichen Lebensmittelüberwachung. Laut Presse nicht zum ersten Mal. Die Mängel wurden zwar beseitigt, aber die Reaktionen des Taumi auf diesbezügliche Bewertungen wirken seltsam inkonsistent: Man raunt auf Google Maps von "täglich wiederholten Bewertungen von verschiedenen Konten", fühlt sich offenbar auch ungerecht behandelt, weil man amtlicherseits "sofort in der Liste der Beanstandungen veröffentlicht" wurde. Man befinde sich "in einem Rechtsstreit aufgrund absichtlich verursachter Schäden in unserem Laden". Ich selbst hatte aus meinem Besuch keinerlei Nachwirkungen. Für den Hauptgang wähle ich das Menu "Crispy Rocket (8 Stk. Lachs Crunchy Roll / 4 Stk. Nigiri)". Die Rolle ist derart durchfrittiert, dass der Lachs in ihrem Kern fast durchgegart ist. Das ist sowohl visuell als auch geschmacklich nicht mein Fall. Der namenlose kalte Sake schmeckt ungewöhnlich dünn, und ist völlig geschmacksneutral. Danach würde ich vermutlich auch eine Alkoholkontrolle unbeschadet überstehen. Wie ich erst nach meinem Besuch entdecke, schaffte es das Taumi zuletzt im Mai 2023 auf die (umgangssprachlich "Ekelliste" genannte) Ergebnisliste der Kontrollen der amtlichen Lebensmittelüberwachung. Laut Presse nicht zum ersten Mal. Die Mängel wurden zwar beseitigt, aber die Reaktionen des Taumi auf diesbezügliche Bewertungen wirken seltsam inkonsistent: Man raunt auf Google Maps von "täglich wiederholten Bewertungen von verschiedenen Konten", fühlt sich offenbar auch ungerecht behandelt, weil man amtlicherseits "sofort in der Liste der Beanstandungen veröffentlicht" wurde. Man befinde sich "in einem Rechtsstreit aufgrund absichtlich verursachter Schäden in unserem Laden". Ich selbst hatte aus meinem Besuch keinerlei Nachwirkungen. Fazit: Sehr durchschnittliche Küche, Herausforderungen im Hygiene- und Reputationsmanagement. Es war mal besser hier. Ich hatte Sushi mit Thunfisch ist leider nicht so frisch. Service war dafür sehr nett, aber am Sushi Bar war sehr laut, die eine alte Dame hat nur geschrieen während mein Besuch. Es war sehr unangenehm.

Das Essen war lecker. Die Bedienung war nicht sehr freundlich. Zum einen stand sie die ganze Zeit mit dem Rücken zu uns und schaute auf ein Tablett und obwohl nichts los war mussten wir mit einem lauten "Hallo" nach ihr rufen um zu bezahlen.

Restaurante muy bien situado con aparcamiento de pago justo debajo. Ambiente excelente y amplitud entre las mesas. Tiene terraza para el buen tiempo. El servicio súper rápido y muy atentos. La comida exquisita y abundante, además usan productos muy frescos.

Im Lokal hat uns Kanalisation Geruch nicht gefallen. Wenn ums Essen geht: Fischsuppe war toll, Edamame gut gekocht ( knusprig) Sashimi Salat hat gut geschmeckt aber frittierte Garnelen sind kalt serviert, was überrascht mich.

Essen gut aber man riecht nach Fritteuse danach.

Wir waren schon zwei mal dort und haben beide Male die Freestyle Sushi Platte bestellt. Die Platte auf dem dunklen Tisch und die Vorspeisen Platte waren für zwei Personen bestellt worden. Die Platte auf dem hellen Tisch war für vier Personen bestellt worden. Beide Male waren wir alle voll, als wir zu zweit waren mussten wir sogar etwas einpacken lassen. Die Qualität des Fisches war gut und es wird auch nicht an Fisch gespart. Das Sushi ist sehr lecker und vielfältig. Für die Freestyle Platte haben wir zu zweit 68€ und zu viert um die 100€ bezahlt, beides sehr fair für die Auswahl und Qualität an Sushi. Der Service ist sehr nett, wir mussten auch nicht lange auf unser Essen warten obwohl wir Freitag abends da waren. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und würden immer wieder kommen.

Modern und köstlich, sehr netter Service, gute Lage

War der erste Besuch, mein Essen war sehr lecker, hat nur etwas länger gedauert bis es da war. Die Angestellten waren freundlich und hatten mehrfach gefragt ob alles in Ordnung ist. Edit: Auch bei den weiteren Besuchen war das Essen sehr leckt und immer ein toller Service.

Essen kalt (Reis, Soße und auch Fleisch), auch nach zweimaliger Rückgabe keine besserung. Küche wollte essen nicht mehr zubereiten. Alter Salat als Garnitur, macht kein Spaß....

7 Leute, davon 3x die Ente mit Reis und Mangosauce.... total kalt geliefert. Nach drittem Versuch kein weiteres. Karte erhalten und neu bestellt. Der Salat auf dem Teller gammelig und schwarz.... die anderen Essen ok, aber auch nicht der Burner. Preis/Leistung passt nicht. Fazit. Sucht ein amderes Restaurant. Die 2 sterne sind für den Sercice, wirken eher wir arme Seelen.

Das Sushi war super lecker, die Portionen sehr groß - Preisleistung stimmt! Einziger Punkt war, dass das ganze Restaurant nach einem überlaufenen Abfluss roch. Zum Glück saßen wir draußen!

Прекрасное место, красивая подача, вкусная кухня

Tiene un menú de mediodía que está muy bien. Algunos querían sushi y pedimos la torre para 3 personas que era muy completa. La personalizamos pidiendo un par de rolls tempurizados y no hubo problema. También pasamos de la terraza (por culpa de las avispas) al interior siendo el camarero muy amable. El local al mediodia estaba poco concurrido, limpio pero la barra toda sucia a la vista que da mala impresión. El sushi bueno aunque los precios son un poco elevados. El rollo tempurizado es de porciones muy grande y no es de un bocado lo que resulta un poco incomodo de comer. La presentación de la tabla es bonita y muy visual con el florero humeante. Las bebidas muy buenas, sobretodo el lassi de mango y el camarero tuvo un detalle con nuestro postre, muy bueno el helado con mango.
