TANÖSHI in Donaueschingen

We had the Chef's Menu, one of the best sushi experiences we've ever had. The service was also very personalized; my wife only eats tuna and salmon, and Alessia was extremely friendly and accommodating. She accommodated my wife's requests wonderfully.

We both ordered the "Chef's Choice" for €70 each and mochi for dessert. The sushi, and the meal in general, was "okay." Despite the high-quality ingredients, it wasn't anything special, and you definitely get more for the price at other sushi restaurants. It's a real shame, because our visit cost almost €200 in total. So, my conclusion is: for that money, you're better off eating at a sushi restaurant in Konstanz, Singen, or the surrounding area.

Excellent sushi and high quality. Very good service from our waiter. I know it is a pop-up restaurant but we expected a more warm environment. The 5 tables that consisted of the restaurant were on the side of a living room and we felt a little uncomfortable.

The evening at Tanöshi was supposed to be a special occasion at that price point, but unfortunately, the sushi and the ambiance didn't live up to expectations at all. There are even alternatives in the region with the same quality – without the 5* premium. You sit in the hotel bar and are served by the same waiters as the bar guests. This led to immense wait times, especially later in the evening. If you're unlucky, you'll be seated in the hallway opposite the restrooms, which will then take away any remaining hint of luxury.

Excellent sushi! Top-quality products, impeccable craftsmanship, and beautifully presented. Incredibly friendly and accommodating, we're already looking forward to our next visit :)

We enjoyed ramen soup, sushi, and a bowl in the "living room" of the Öschberghof. The open preparation area is impressive, and the sushi chef and his assistants are very friendly. They even happily accommodated my request for an Aburi Shake Nigiri, even though it wasn't on the menu. The sushi was expertly prepared. However, the amount of greens on the rolls and some of the nigiri was a bit much for me. It was simply too much. Less is definitely more. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. We weren't asked if we enjoyed our meal, and no one explained what was on our plates. Ordering a second drink was difficult, even though the restaurant was quiet. Anyone looking for a true "sushi experience" will be disappointed here, as the atmosphere, while lovely, isn't exactly Japanese, and the lack of side dishes and starters (such as miso soup) is a drawback. However, the sushi isn't quite what you'd expect. However, if you simply want to enjoy the best sushi in the Black Forest-Baar district in the familiar, refined atmosphere of the Öschberghof, then this is the place for you. Finally, I'd like to highlight the wasabi, which I believe was genuine wasabi, not horseradish, and I would appreciate confirmation of its authenticity.

Service subpar. No water offered proactively, we had to wait with empty glasses for a prolonged period of time without anyone bothering to ask us if we would like a refill. They offered an amuse bouche but again, people kept passing our table with the finished dishes and no-one had the idea of removing the dishes. The food took around 50min after ordering to arrive. Way too long in my opinion given that no one else ordered food (it's a fairly small place with just 8 small tables) at that time and they had, what I assume based on the size of the open kitchen space, a fully staffed kitchen. Quality of the food is ok. Is it the best sushi we've ever had? By far not. The bowl with tuna for 32€ was pretty bland – garnished with the same carrots as the amuse bouche (how original) and wakame. No other vegetables or pickles. The chef's choice sushi for 70€ was overpriced. There were just a total of 9 rolls with fish, and around 11 vegetarian rolls. The choice of food is also fairly limited. No sashimi, no starters to have, such as miso soup or edamame. Just two different kinds of mochi for dessert, nothing else. The ambiente could also be improved on. Yes, it is tastefully designed, but it feels like it isn't supposed to be a restaurant; as if the usage as a restaurant is more of a pop-up thing.

Delicious sushi! We love coming here. Fresh ingredients, prepared with care. A small menu, just the way you like it at a sushi restaurant. No unnecessary frills. Highly recommended for sushi lovers! The ramen and rice bowls are also fantastic. The service is extremely attentive and friendly.

Definitely the best sushi I've ever eaten. We had sushi with Wagyu beef and Oshi sushi with salmon, tuna and avocado. You can watch it being prepared and on some days you can order it as a starter in the restaurant or directly from Tanoshi. You definitely have to try it when you are there. The sushi master is very friendly and explains everything.

Unfortunately the sushi was only average, you can get better deals in Stuttgart. The quality is good, but we expected a different class and more creativity for the price. The service was top as always, and the atmosphere with live music was also quite good (despite the fact that we were unfortunately sitting right next to the toilet entrances) Unfortunately, we cannot recommend a visit to this Öschberghof restaurant.
