Unfortunately only 5 stars available! The choice of food, ambience and the friendliness of the staff are simply very good!! The dishes we ordered were excellently prepared and cooked to perfection! It's also worth a further journey!

We were there on October 16th. again in Sumack and were thrilled as always. Modern Turkish cuisine. As a starter we had the scampi pan and the Börek. Then the grill plate - because we couldn't decide and there was something from all the specialties on it. As always, super fried and very tasty. The service and the good manners are also very positive: as soon as there is some quiet in the kitchen, the boss takes the time to get feedback directly from his guests. We'll definitely come back.

We wanted to try many things, and I am glad we did. The mixed dip starter for 2 with hot and fresh Turkish flatbread and the mixed grill for 2 were great choices. We also enjoyed Turkish coffee, tea, and a chocolate dessert with pistachio, tahini, pomegranate, and melon. What a unique and creative treat. The service was exceptional too. My friend and I agree that it was a grand finale for my visit from the US.

Simply great. Finally a restaurant that has quality to offer and Turkish food on a level far beyond snack food. Very nice, tasty and great service.

We were there for the first time today and were very positively surprised. From the outside the restaurant looks rather inconspicuous. Inside, however, it is larger than expected and has a very nice atmosphere. It's a bit like a vacation. The staff was very nice and accommodating and the food was really tasty! We will definitely come back and recommend it to others 😊

Had my birthday dinner today here. Loved the food, their ambiance and service was fast. Had a good time along with good food. Loved their Dubai chocolate dessert and the tomato chutney (sauce??!). Overall, best present for myself today!

This restaurant knows its craft!!! I was looking for a Turkish restaurant that also offers Raki because it was my father's birthday and he loves Turkish cuisine. It was our first visit, but definitely not the last! The three pillars of a successful restaurant - excellent service, high-quality food and an atmospheric ambience - are all met with a grade of A in this restaurant! For me personally the best Turkish restaurant in Dortmund, and this review comes from a fellow countryman. Keep it up, great!

We waited 30 minutes for someone to take our order, then we waited another 30 minutes for our drinks and food to come (usually the drinks always come earlier) The portions are simply too small for the money. It was still tasty, but no one gets tired of it🫠 The waitress looks very confused and the food always ends up at the wrong tables😂

I recently went to Sumak and it was just great! The atmosphere is super cozy and the staff is really friendly. I had the kebab plate and my husband had the grill plate - both were awesome. The selection of drinks was also great. I will definitely come back!

First of all, the authentic oriental decor is so successful for the first time in a restaurant. Together with the rustic interior and Turkish folk music, you can feel the Anatolian charm here. Then there is the super nice service! Very accommodating and friendly! I think it was the owner who greeted all the tables personally and was definitely super nice. Then there were starters in small bowls with flatbread. The hummus was so good and the ezme was also perfectly seasoned. Everything with a lot of sumac (vinegar tree spice), as the restaurant is also called. The food was also perfect. The meat was extremely well fried and literally melted when you chewed it. The Andalusian sauce was also great. My wife had a mixed grill plate and the kofta were grilled to perfection. So everything was perfect! The toilets were super clean and you felt good. We will definitely come back when we are in Dortmund or nearby. Sumack is definitely worth a visit and once you've been there, you'll definitely come back again!

By far the BEST Turkish food in Dortmund 👍 Four of us had dinner and were thrilled by the freshness and taste of the dishes. Great service team and a humble boss who is also the chef who creates the dishes. In any case, this restaurant is one of my favorites. It is "real Turkish" "fresh" and "tasty" Respect 👍

So far from original Turkish cuisine, unfortunately! The lentil soup was very thin, had no lemon and was very flavorful. There was little bread and no dips for starters. The grill plate mainly consisted of chicken wings, no Adana or pepperoni or anything like that. There wasn't even bulgur or rice. but then proud prices! The service itself was impeccable, super nice and attentive. But we won't go there again for Turkish food.

I was traveling in Dortmund (from Cologne) and was looking for a place to eat. That's when I came across Sumack. The store did not disappoint in any way. From the ambience to the food and the service, everything was fascinating. The food tasted great. Cheers! to the cook. He knows his craft!!! From now on I will always come here when I get hungry in Dortmund!!! I can only recommend it to everyone!!!

The food was great. The bread that was served as a starter with the dips was freshly baked and still warm. I ordered fish (sea bream) and it was by far the tastiest I've eaten recently. The food was well prepared and the service was also very attentive. We will be back definitely.

Ate at Sumack again today. On the occasion of Mother's Day, the women were greeted with a red rose. The food was very tasty! We hadn't ordered a starter but still got one on the house, which consisted of dips and flatbread. As always, the service was very attentive. This restaurant is definitely recommended.

Went there with my husband 3 times, 2 times with friends and yesterday with our mom, she was so excited about the food. The service and atmosphere were great. I can only recommend it. We've been at tandura restaurants for years. But now we've found a new favorite restaurant. The chef comes to the table and asks if you enjoyed it, it's just great.

After our Turk was lost on Münsterstr for over 20 years (Tandura), we came across Sumack. Simply great. The only drawback is that parking spaces are a bit tight, otherwise a top restaurant.

The best food I've eaten in a long time. You definitely have to try the lamb chops (medium), they are perfect, but that's a matter of taste.

We visited Sumack for the first time today and will definitely be back! The atmosphere is chic and cozy, the service is attentive and friendly. Here you are not just a customer but a valued guest. You won't find such hospitality anywhere else. Finally, the most important thing, the food. The portions are large, made with love, the lamb was a poem! Dessert and fair prices rounded off the lovely evening perfectly.

Internet-reviews told me, this is the best turkish place in Dortmund. And after visiting i assume this is correct :). The food is simple and on point brilliant. One feels welcome. Service is friendly. It gets very loud in the main space, when there are more guests. But hey, thats how it is. Çok güzel.

We were warmly welcomed into the comfortably furnished restaurant. The atmosphere was extremely pleasant, not loud or hectic at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the restaurant's usual skewers of fish and meat. Beforehand there was a small appetizer from the house. A total of 4 different dips with warm flatbread. Delicious. The skewers were perfectly prepared, very juicy and tender. The prices are fair, the drinks are not overpriced as is often the case. Overall, a clear recommendation for a good meal.

The food is prepared very freshly and you can taste it. Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for our food but that's how it is these days when there is little motivation to work. There is a shortage of workers everywhere. However, it was definitely worth the wait.

We ate very tasty Turkish dishes and the very friendly service took great care of us. We had the starter platter for two people. For the main course I chose manti and a dish with lamb/beef meatballs. For dessert I shared a Künefe with goat cheese milk ice cream. All dishes tasted great and authentic. Price/performance is very good. There are many vegetarian, meat and fish dishes on the menu. There are no vegan dishes on the menu. We found parking spaces right in front of the door.

Was there today for the first time, my husband, twice. We were welcomed very nicely. We were able to look at the menu in peace and ask questions if something was unclear. The food is Turkish from many regions of the country. Freshly prepared and very tasty. We had a starter, side salads, main courses and desserts. There was also a Turkish tea as a greeting from the house. The boss also came to the table and greeted us. The service is nice and attentive. It was a bit very noisy due to a large group at the next table, which wasn't nice. But there was no other way because the tables were quite close. But the owner can't control the volume. We'd love to come back.

A great Turkish restaurant with dishes from different regions of Turkey and without any kebab. The service was A1, very attentive and courteous without being intrusive. The food is very good and is prepared fresh every time. When we had questions about the food or spices, the friendly boss was ultimately able to answer us. Es ist wahrlich den Besuch wert. Reserviert für einen Donnerstag für 2 Personen. Verspätet und angerufen, am Telefon sehr verständnisvoll gewesen und gemeint "es wäre kein Problem". Angekommen (wir sind nicht aus Dortmund oder Umgebung) war ich erstmal nicht so angetan über das Aussehen von außen. Aber das Äußere kann ja trügen. Drinne.....eine total andere Welt, sehr schön eingerichtet. Schöne Musik, nicht zu laut und nicht zu leise. Einfach ein angenehmes Ambiente. Es gab genug Tische und denke für unter der Woche muss man nicht reservieren. Der Service 🤩😍 ein Traum. Nicht nur wurde drauf geachtet ob wir noch etwas zu trinken wollen oder ob es denn schmeckt sondern es wurde auch aufs Haus eine kleine Vorspeise gegeben. Wir hatten die Grillplatte für 2 Personen und dies hat sich als die richtige Entscheidung ergeben. 2 Lammkotlets, Hähnchenspieß, Lammspieß, Hühnchenflügel....von jedem etwas und genug für 2 Personen. Das Essen war einfach nur gut, nein es war geil. Die verschiedenen Fleischsorten waren alle perfekt und sehr lecker sowie saftig und weich. Wenn man mal in Dortmund ist und gut türkisch essen möchte dann lohnt sich der Abstecher hier hin 😉🤤 Für 2 Personen kann man mit mind. 50-65€ rechnen. Absolut gerechtfertigt und ich finde es sind normale Preise. Achja Parken ect. Es gibt glaube ich keinen Parkplatz aber die Straße vor dem Restaurant, dort sollten Plätze zu finden sein.

Sehr hübsches Restaurant mit sehr freundlichem und zuvorkommenden Personal. Wir hatten 3 verschiedene Gerichte, welche alle sehr lecker waren und besonders angerichtet wurden. Der Chef hat sich im Laufe des Abends sogar persönlich nach unserem Befinden erkundigt. Das war definitiv nicht das letzte Mal im Sumack. 5 Sterne und somit ganz klar weiter zu empfehlen.

Erstklassige Gerichte, freundlicher Service und sehr gemütliches Ambiente. Wenn man das sucht, dann ist man genau richtig hier. Danke für die Gastfreundschaft, liebes Sumack-Team. Ich komme natürlich bald wieder.

Der Service war leider unterbesetzt, wird wohl nicht immer so sein, sondern aufgrund kurzfristiger Ausfälle. Das vorhandene Team war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Der Preis war sehr gut, wir waren angenehm überrascht. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und freuen uns darauf!

Schönes Lokal. Das Essen hat geschmeckt, jedoch war es kein Geschmackserlebnis.Die Speisen waren für meinen Geschmack spärlich. Auch das Preisleistungsverhältnis fand ich nicht gerechtfertigt. Der Chef fragt uns ob es geschmeckt. Leider fand er unsere Kritik nicht toll.

Hallo, wir haben unseren Jahrestag (25 Jahre) gefeiert. Das Ambiente, das Essen , die Menschen vor Ort einfach nur überragend. Hier steht wirklich der Mensch im Fokus . Der Text in der Speisekarte wird hier wirklich gelebt . Man spürt hier wirklich Herz und Ehrlichkeit. Der Tisch war mit Blütenblättern dekoriert und es gab Sekt auf Kosten des Hauses. Das Essen war frisch und authentisch, das Personal und der Chef sehr sympathische Originale. Bitte weiter so ! Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder 😇😊

Das Essen war gut, der Service etwas sehr langsam, die Auswahl der Getränke etwas eingeschränkt. Die Geräuschkulisse war anstrengend.

Waren diese Woche dort essen. Wirklich gutes Essen und qualitativ hochwertig. Etwas hochpreisiger aber gerechtfertigt. Auswahl und Speisen sind super. Ambiente auch Lediglich der Service war nicht so gut. Wir wurden obwohl kaum Gäste vor Ort wenig gefragt ob wir noch was bräuchten noch wurde schnell reagiert. Service dennoch sehr freundlich und kompetent dennoch bitte Gäste etwas mehr beachten:)
