Cool atmosphere, delicious beer, delicious pizza and great staff. I will definitely go again when I'm in Lübeck!

Was there for the presentation of the metal radio play LB steel. The beer brewed for it was excellent. The service outside was super fast, the food on the truck was very good. Indoors, I didn't understand the logistics of a small slice of pizza where it took the crew 25 minutes to warm it up after ordering. Another tip for you for the operator: please put the entrances to the toilets, perhaps with small barriers, as a lot of people were caught by the doors when they were opened from the inside... Overall a recommended place

A little out of the way, rustic pub with its own brewery. The variety of beer has a lot to offer with various alcohol variations. There is also non-alcoholic beer. Everything that came looked good and delicious. The gimmick when eating pizza is the pizza scissors. Just try it out. Gladly again.

We celebrated our wedding at Sudden Death with about 140 people. It was fantastic. The atmosphere was great, the venue was casual, all the staff were friendly, did a great job, and made all our guests feel at home. We're glad we chose Sudden Death and grateful for the fantastic evening. The selection and quantity of food was also top-notch. No one went to bed hungry, and as a challenge, everyone could try to drink all the beers on the menu. Well done, dear SD team <3

Wir haben Pizza bestellt und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Sehr leckere Pizza und absolut frischer Teig. Auch die verschiedenen Sorten von Bier waren alle lecker. Wir kommen bestimmt bald wieder.

It is one of the best breweries in Germany. There is excellent craft beer. The IPAs, sours and stouts deserve special mention here. The regular events are also always worth a visit.

Great beer with great pizza and great events

Special atmosphere with good friendly service. Unfortunately it was a bit too much for a waiter with a student to help. We had pre-ordered, when the wrong pizzas came to the table, we were told that there was an old menu on the internet.

Absolut überwältigt war ich von diesem außergewöhnlichen kulinarischen Erlebnis! Die Pizzen waren schlichtweg sensationell, ein wahrer Gaumenschmaus. Besonders angetan war ich von den ausgefallen belegten Variationen, die eine wahre Explosion an Aromen boten. Man merkte sofort, dass hier mit viel Liebe zum Detail und hochwertigen Zutaten gearbeitet wird. Da wir leider an der Bar sitzen mussten, konnte ich einige Einblicke in die Küche erhalten. Das Küchenteam hat mich mit seiner beeindruckenden Leistung restlos überzeugt. Aber nicht nur die Pizzen waren ein Highlight, auch die riesige Auswahl an erlesenen Craft-Bieren ließ keine Wünsche offen. Für jeden Geschmack war etwas dabei, und die kompetente Beratung des Personals half bei der Auswahl des passenden Bieres. Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant war einladend und gemütlich, man fühlte sich sofort wohl. Der Service war aufmerksam und freundlich, und man merkte, dass die Mitarbeiter mit Leidenschaft bei der Sache sind. Insgesamt war mein Besuch ein rundum gelungenes Erlebnis, das ich so schnell nicht vergessen werde. Nächstes Mal reservieren wir einen Tisch neben den Braukesseln, um den Flair der Brauerei noch besser zu genießen. Ich kann dieses Restaurant jedem empfehlen, der auf der Suche nach außergewöhnlichen Pizzen und einer großen Auswahl an Craft-Bieren ist.

I always enjoy coming here! A great, relaxed atmosphere paired with very friendly and attentive service and delicious beer. Even if it is a little out of the way, a detour is highly recommended. What I think is a bit of a shame is that the beer menu varies so much. When you find a great beer, it often happens that it is no longer being served two weeks later. For me, a new beer doesn't have to be released every month. But that doesn't stop me from coming over regularly :)

If you're lucky, you can watch the brewers work while you eat. The view of the brewing facilities is open. An impressive backdrop. Been there several times. No deterioration over the years. Steady and good solid kitchen/furnishings.

I'm not a beer fan, but SDB is worth a visit. You can comfortably enjoy your pizza in the brewery atmosphere next to gigantic kettles. The prices are reasonable and the beers (I'm told) are very good. The staff is on their toes and looks after the guests with a pleasant relaxed attitude. The outdoor area is also very pleasant and invites you to linger when the temperatures are warm. Dogs are allowed and even very welcome.

A completely different place to go out. If you love beer, this is the place for you. There are an incredible number of varieties, 20 of which are on tap. The service is relaxed and cheerful, and the pizzas are refreshingly different.

At Suddendeath, beers are still brewed by hand, the focus is on hops, but there are now also very good sour, core range and historically influenced beers. You can order everything online, the very varied merchandising also has to be praised, I love the patches!! We were there briefly on a flying visit in July 2024, before regular operations. Even though there was a lot to do, they took a moment for us, there was a short private tour and then two beers. Really TOP! We'll be back! Then also for food 😅

I love beer. And I love pizza. So please believe me when I say that the beer and pizza in this place are some of the best I have ever had. I also found the service very good. Nothing to add but….Absolutely wonderful.

Die Auswahl an Bier ist super, das Angebot wechselt und man kann sich so super durch eine Vielzahl an Bier probieren und was einem schmeckt kann auch gleich als Vorrat in Dosen mitgenommen werden. Ich komme seit gerne wieder.

We shared 7 pizzas and somehow the differences are manageable. The service is friendly but at first intrusive, then he ignores you. The atmosphere in the brewery was loud.

Great pizzas, especially the unusual ones. Pleasant acoustics: conversations are still possible even when the hut is full. Huge selection of the finest crafts. I was blown away. Maybe the hottest brewery in Germany, but definitely top 3. Pizzas sell out quickly. If you are there without a reservation, you may not get one.

Ich bin nicht wegen des Essens dort gewesen, obwohl die Pizza wirklich sehr gut war. Nein, ich bin wegen der 19 unterschiedlichen Fasssbiere dort hinein. Ich hatte ein Zwickel und zwei verschiedene IPA. Alle drei Biere waren sehr lecker. Für Biertrinker ein MUSS!

Unfortunately I can't judge the food or other services. We wanted to celebrate a “former reunion” here and had already made an appointment at the restaurant weeks ago because Sudden Death was recommended to us because of the good pizza and the ambience. Now we received a rejection a week ago with the following reason. “We received an inquiry and therefore have a closed event. We can make more money with this.” I think it's very bad to give such a rejection. If the location is filled with many small groups, good sales will also be generated. Personally, I probably won't be a guest at Sudden Death again, no matter how delicious the pizza is. There are also many other good restaurants in Lübeck. At the pub quiz we were asked to pay the bill at 9:45 p.m. even though the place was full and our table had made a decent amount of money and would have kept going. You don't feel welcome as a guest. Although there were only four pizzas on the menu, they took an extremely long time to prepare and it wasn't on the menu that a particular pizza (salami) was spicy.

Very cool location for lovers of special beers. A guided tour is particularly worthwhile because you can then learn a lot about the history of Sudden Death. The food is solid with good value for money.

The ambience is just amazing. Service and food as well. We each had a tasting beer board with four types of beer. Plus a delicious pizza with creative toppings. We will definitely come back to test the advanced board

Geschweige von dem Ambiente und der geilsten Pizza die ich jemals gegessen habe, sind die Leute auch einfach mega. Man fühlt sich als würde man mit seinen Freunden in ner robusten halle sitzen und einfach spaß haben!!!! Liebe diesen Laden einfach!

One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten

1. Tolles Bier !!! Daher der entscheidende Grund hierher zu kommen. 2. Lange Wartezeiten auf Bier und Essen. Wartezeit war per Tafel bereits vorab klar, wurde aber noch mal gerissen und die dafür angekündigte kalte Platte als Entschuldigung kam auch nicht, da dann die Pizza vorher kam. Servicechaos. 3. Zwei von Acht Pizzen auf der Karte waren aus. 4. Schade, dass es bei 16 Bieren vom Fass keine flights/ Probensets gibt. 5. Warum ein Teil der Karte auf Papier am Klemmbrett kommt, ich mir den entscheidenden Teil der wechselnden Biere dann aber per QR-Code auf dem Handy anschauen muss (und der dann auf englisch ist ) ist mir rätselhaft. Kann man da nicht zwei Zettel mehr ans Klemmbrett machen?

Went there for the first time yesterday. Definitely not the last. Pizza and beer great. The staff must be worth their weight in gold. I have rarely had such friendly and attentive staff. We were a closed society. Till and his great colleague treated us to drinks. A big thank you to both of them

How do you get to a pub in a shipyard? A concert and of course you have to strengthen yourself beforehand. Google Maps shows the Sudden Death Brewery very close to the Kulturwerft. That sounded good, so I decided to make a reservation. You have reached your goal... When you arrived in front of a large hall with a canopy, you immediately noticed the passion that the operators live here. We sat at an oil drum with a view of the entire room. Classically you would call it a brewery, but there's nothing classic here. A large counter with a neon SD/BC sign and a whopping 19 taps. Shortly overwhelmed by the selection, we decided on “Grindhouse” and “Give Me Shelter”. The description on the map is helpful, but you can also get advice from the very friendly staff. Due to the planned rush there was a smaller selection of food, but that wasn't a problem. We each had a delicious pizza with chanterelles, salsiccia and fennel. I won't give away the advice on how best to eat the pizza here, because it's brilliant and everyone should try it out there. Guys, how cool was this station wagon. And then the craft beer... born near Weihenstephan and genetically influenced by the classic beer... I found the IPA really tasty. Since it's not exactly around the corner for us, a large package arrived today with a few cans of the delicious stuff.

This is a great place for tasting beer while in Lübeck. We ended up here being guests at a nearby hotel, the owner of which strongly recommended the place. Service is very efficient and pleasant and your waiters can take unlimited number of jokes if your German allows for it. And despite all the beer drinking going on, toilets are impeccable, at least in the beginning of the evening...

We had some fantastic pizzas and superb beers. The place was big but still cozy with indoor or outdoor dining. Possibility to see the brewery from where you sit and eat. The staff were incredibly friendly. We came as a large family with children and it was no problem to book a table. They responded quickly to our inquiry. There is an option to play different games as well, which we took advantage of. Note the cute little gimmick with the push button on the toilet. 😂

An absolute highlight for beer lovers. There are quite a few different varieties. Non-alcoholic drinks are available for drivers. If you want, you can eat a delicious pizza while tasting the beer.

no service! Shop outside half empty. Waited 5 minutes. The ladies stand in threes and I go and order. "We'll be right there." I sit down again and after 3 minutes still no one takes the order. That's when it drifted out...

Yesterday, on a busy Saturday evening, we had dinner here with 11 people. Despite the many guests, we were given detailed advice about the drinks and food. Special requests regarding the ingredients on the pizzas were also fulfilled. You can tell that people not only enjoy eating and drinking delicious beer here, but that the employees also enjoy working there. Thank you for the great hospitality. Gladly again.

Near perfection. Caught them at point when they we’re busy to the point of buckling at the knees. So service was hurt a bit. I decided to see beyond that and appreciate them for what they aim to be. Because, despite the bad timing one of the owner’s still took his time to chat between pouring Monin suryp drinks and attending to a bunch of wedding guests. The kitchen team kept churning out pizzas like there’s no tomorrow. Beer offering is divine obviously. Pizza delicious, while mine was a tad too burned for my taste. Portion size made it impossible to finish the charred bits anyway. Best place for miles and miles and miles around.

A fascinating ambience, in keeping with our taste in industrial design, with a clear view of the brewery. The beer (we had four different types, three of which were on tap) was of incredible quality in taste. I've never had such a delicious keg beer before. The pizzas came to the table in a reasonable time frame, were very well seasoned and the dough was unbeatable. Nobody gets up from the table hungry here! Last but not least: The evening was completely rounded off by Laura, who offered refreshing, competent service and finally made us new fans of sudden death.

We were there for the second time, the first time unfortunately all the pizzas were sold out in the evening, this time we had reserved. The pizza was very tasty, as was the beer. We became very full quite quickly, so the orders took a moment and so did the pizza for a latecomer, but we were also told beforehand, so everything was fine. The pizza menu is quite short, but everyone should find something. We think the atmosphere is great, we'd love to come back!

Nach 20 min wurden 2 von 6 Getränken serviert, nach 50 min die 6 Pizzen. Völlig unfähiges Serviceteam. Das Bier war kalt aber fast schal, die Pizzen waren gut.

Große Auswahl an Bieren, die man auf der großzügigen Terrasse genießen kann. Ein Vorteil hierbei ist die digitale Taplist, auf der man live die angeschlagenen Biere sieht. Es Empfiehlt sich trotzdem zu reservieren, da die Bar beliebt zu sein scheint. Um die schiere Vielfalt beqältigen zu können, empfihlt dich ein "Pro-Bier-Brett" mit 4 selbst auszusuchenden Bieren. Die Nachos waren etwas einfallslos, einfach aus der Tüte in ne Schale serviert und die Käsesoße eher geschmacklos. Die Pizzen waren Geschmacklich gut, wenn sich auch die definition von Schärfe im Norden Deutschlands offenbar gravierend von der im Rest deutlich unterscheidet. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Ambiente Industriell/ Modern, man kann innen auch Teile der Brauerei sehen.

First impression: Amazing! Nice location, nice service and an excellent wheat beer (I haven't tried the rest yet). The pizzas looked good. Definitely a store that you wish will be around for a long time.
