Studentenwerk Halle in Halle (Saale)

My husband has been waiting for his BAföG (student loan) decision for 7 months now. I wonder why it takes so long when all the documents have been submitted; nothing even needs to be calculated yet!

A solid 3 stars, but nothing more.

I've had really great experiences with BAföG for studying abroad. My BAföG application has never been processed so quickly. Thank you!

0 stars is unfortunately not possible... There's a lot going on here, BUT service and competence are unfortunately completely lacking. Reminders are sent without ever having sent a payment request with an account number and recipient beforehand. Disputes take several (6+) months to process, and all letters, according to the date, take several days to arrive – and that's within Halle... – and generally arrive on Fridays, when you can't reach anyone there. I also find it absolutely outrageous that, as a student, you end up paying more and incurring more losses than if you had been working from the start. Good support for education! This works much better elsewhere, but not in Halle...

Rarely had bad experiences in the past. However, the online accessibility/feedback is not okay (explicit questions about whether you have sent in the correct documents, for example, are not answered and you wait 3 weeks for a letter stating that they are not the correct documents) and Very dependent on employees over the phone. However, some of the times and processing times are absolutely incomprehensible to me and not okay. Without a supportive family, I would have been broke for two months because the Bafög office unfortunately didn't provide the correct information. I have been waiting since January for notifications with multiple and clear indications of urgency. The normal wave of follow-up applications could not even be processed during this period. After a somewhat more energetic call, I suddenly had an email the next day, strange how everything can work out. There are sometimes more than 8 people in the office on the Weinberg campus alone, but you still wait forever for any feedback. I recently made a special appointment, the woman in the consultation room had no file and had absolutely no idea about my case, which should actually be well documented in the system. When Ms. A first has to call Ms. B, who in turn refers to Ms. C, who is then not available, you notice what sometimes goes wrong in such offices. So I could have saved myself the visit completely. Then a comment like: "I don't know if it will work until next week, we also take bridge days after the public holiday" is absolutely inappropriate towards someone who has had to make ends meet for two months. The main thing is that you enjoy your days off...

I had an appointment for a general consultation on BAföG. I was called promptly and received very friendly, competent, and patient advice.

Absolutely terrible, incomprehensible rent increase, lack of transparency.

A nice campus for students, there are several positions in one place, e.g. Canteen, daycare center, Bafög office.

Noch nie so viel Inkompetenz auf einem Haufen erlebt. Da weiß die linke Hand nicht was die rechte macht. Corona Hilfen werden teilweise nicht gewährt obwohl alle Kriterien erfüllt werden. Anrufe werden mitunter ignoriert und Mails nicht beantwortet. Vielen Dank, dass ihr so gar kein Verständnis und Empathie zeigen könnt. ich hoffe ihr kommt auch Mal in eine Situation auf Hilfe angewiesen zu sein, die euch dann hoffentlich auch verwehrt wird. Vielleicht merkt ihr es dann. Meiner Meinung nach sitzen da komplett die falschen Leute im Studentenwerk und in der Sozialberatung. Update: Das Studentenwerk Halle hat sich nachträglich bei mir gemeldet und einen kleineren Betrag gestattet. ich revidiere hiermit meine Aussage, die Mitarbeiter haben doch Verständnis für die Situation der Studierenden.
