Stromboli da Angelo in Hannover

An upscale Italian restaurant. Excellent cuisine, excellent wines, and first-class service. Highly recommended

The food and service are very good. After the renovations, there's more space.

We used to love Stromboli, a small, cozy, family-run restaurant with good food. Today, it's a large, garish place with no atmosphere and is uninviting. The bright lights flicker; everything is bright and cold; there are no candles on the tables. The daily special was only served upon request, just like the menus. The appetizer consisted of two strips of grilled zucchini, two slices of eggplant, canned artichokes, feta cheese on a watery tomato, with a ring of red onion, completely unseasoned, and some sun-dried tomatoes. Unfortunately, it was bland and not good. I would have preferred mozzarella or burta with some pesto, fresh herbs, a bit of balsamic vinegar, crostinis with tapenade, liver cream, or something similar. There are so many good options, but unfortunately, we didn't have anything like that. The taste was okay, but there was a lot of room for improvement. For the main course, I had spaghetti vongole. The mussels were very good, but I missed the light taste of white wine. The spaghetti was completely overcooked and beyond all reason. Far too much garlic and too little seasoning; it could definitely be better. It just didn't have a well-rounded flavor, lacking in love. The scampi we ordered were shrimp...! That's substitution and an absolute no-go for an Italian restaurant. Not to mention that the price of real scampi is around €45-49 per kilo. Shrimp costs €15-17 per kilo. In summary, before the renovation, it was a great family-run restaurant where you were valued as a guest. Today, unfortunately, it's just a garish, impersonal place. A shame.

This Italian restaurant has been in business since 1974, with a change of ownership. The food has always been consistently good, and we had an excellent meal there two days ago. The prices for the dishes and drinks are nowhere near as exorbitant as in many other Italian restaurants. The only downside this time: Only after leaving the restaurant did we realize that we had only received an interim bill, which is often used for tax evasion/fraud because it is deleted from the cash register system after the customer leaves. Unfortunately, Stromboli's response isn't true, and I don't like being taken for a fool. We were served by Alice, who has worked there for at least five years and certainly created this receipt, which was subsequently deleted from the cash register. This is pure tax evasion.

A beautifully decorated restaurant with a traditional Italian ambiance. Attentive and friendly staff. The food is freshly prepared. No long waits. You'll feel comfortable and well looked after at Stromboli. The price-performance ratio is absolutely excellent.

We were there with a group of 12 adults and 5 children with a reservation. The service took our orders quickly. The appetizers and children's meals arrived in advance, followed by the main courses. Drinks were requested, and everything arrived within a reasonable time. The food was very tasty and generously portioned. Overall, it was very nice. The only criticism was the humid temperature in the dining room; the existing air conditioning could have been used to make it a bit more comfortable.

I've been going here for years and have never been disappointed. Recently, we were there very late and wanted to take two pizzas to go. The manager initially said no because the kitchen was almost closing. But then he decided to let us make the pizzas. Very friendly! Always happy to come back.

The restaurant is very densely packed, and comfort and peace aren't really present. Let's start with the best: The main course gets a 7.5/10. The pork fillet with pepper sauce was really quite good. The side dishes (vegetables and potatoes) were very good, and the meat was tender. The sauce was really good. The portion was also sufficient. There was nothing wrong with the lasagna either. A solid 7.5/10. The antipasto misto starter came without Italian cold cuts and with feta cheese and tomato. The first is a real shame, and I expect the second at a Greek restaurant. The rest was so-so. 4.5/10. We like tiramisu. The best is at an Italian restaurant at London's Earl's Court. The worst - unfortunately - is here. Sadly, I must say. No alcohol, no sugar, no coffee. It tastes of NOTHING, like pure mascarpone. Plus fruit that I don't like, but that was the only thing that had any flavor: 1/10 They're good at main courses, but the antipasti didn't win us over. The tiramisu was a total failure. Even Penny can do better.

We (two adults and a child) had a wonderful evening here. From the reception to the table service, the food was very friendly and attentive; there was no wait time even when the restaurant was full. The food was excellent; we've never had such a generous seafood spaghetti before, and the pizza was also great. An authentic Italian restaurant; we'd be happy to return.

A top address for anyone who loves truly good Italian food. The dishes are fresh, made with love, and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous and filling. Everything is priced fairly – no exorbitant prices, but perfectly in line with the quality. The service is friendly and attentive, and you immediately feel welcome. If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine without the frills, this is the place for you.

The service was abysmal! We've never been served so carelessly, starting with the order. We once wanted scaloppine in a white wine sauce, but said it wrong, and the waiter told us in an unacceptable tone that he didn't know what we meant! Then we asked for a large bottle of water, but only got a small one. One meal wasn't finished; we wanted the rest packed up, but it wasn't done. In the entire time we were there, we weren't asked once if we wanted anything else; we've never encountered such poor service!

Best pizza since our Italian vacation. The food arrived on the table in about 8 minutes 🍕. The waiters are also real waiters.

Little charm. No empathy for the guests. Not at all "typically Italian." The food is okay, but unfortunately nothing more than that. I asked about the dish and its preparation, but something completely different came to the table. The owner isn't open to polite and objective criticism. Quote: "I'm a professional chef and I know what I'm doing." Things arrive late to the table. Quote: "There aren't any good staff anymore, they all don't want to work anymore." I've never heard of anything like that... But that says it all. I didn't feel like it there. I wish you continued success.

I highly recommend the food at Stromboli. The service is also good. The only downside is the poor acoustics in the restaurant. The kitchen bell, the cash register, and the many guests in the restaurant create an unpleasant background noise that makes it difficult to understand the person speaking. So we prefer to go to Stromboli in the summer, when you can sit outside.

We were here for Mother's Day. The food was OK. The only thing missing was the lasagne Meat !!

Everything top as always. The pizza is definitely one of the 3 best you can find in Hanover. Even though there is sometimes a bit too much cheese on it for my taste. But if that bothers you, if you mention it when ordering, an extra request such as less cheese will of course be taken into account. The appropriate description of the service is also warm. Always polite and always with humor. Whether it's a starter, main course or dessert, you really can't go wrong here, no matter what you order.

The pizza was very good..dough was crispy..salad that came as a side dish was okay. I've never eaten such bad antipasti: straight from the glass to the table, apparently everything from the same glass, everything tasted like pickles. Pizza was topped with frozen vegetable mix, pasta tasted like cat food smells. We won't be coming back!

God og afslappet atmosfære. Vi var det to børn og to voksne. Vi fik to forskellige pastaretter og to forskellige pizzaer. Altsammen smagte helt perfekt. Betjeningen var hyggelig og kompetent. Stedet ligger lige på et gadehjørne, men på trods af de har de formået se lave et lille hyggeligt område til udeservering. Klart en anbefaling herfra

On Saturday May 18th, 2024 we were at Stromboli da Angelo at 5 p.m. When we entered the restaurant, we asked if there was still a table available. Here we received information from the friendly waitress that a two table would be available for another hour. For dinner, we ordered a daily recommendation from the blackboard on a pillar (black spaghetti with tuna pieces and eggplant) and a meal from the menu (tortellini in ham and cream sauce). Within half an hour of arriving we had ordered and enjoyed the fabulous meal.

although my dish looked good, unfortunately, it just tasted like oil.. . my spaghetti scampi was cooked to death and then buried under a lot of oil. so much so that i was forced to eat a full basket of bread. my coke zero was also completely flat, no gas at all. anyway, when the waitress asked me several times if everything was okay, i told her that i didn't really like the food. i thanked her, paid my bill plus tip, and got up. the reason for this review is not really the food, but the incident that happened afterward. the owner called me over in an impudent way, even though i was already on the other side of the street. i still went back. the owner came way too close to my face and demanded that i complain to him and only him. he also repeatedly mentioned the word complaint, to which i explained to him that there had never been a complaint and that i wanted to avoid exactly a situation like this. the owner then tried to explain what I did wrong by ordering the dish. with his finger way too close to my face, he tried to intimidate me in front of all the other guests who were sitting outside, in the middle of the pedestrian path. i didn't let anything go back, paid, tipped, and got up. i had to go through all this just because the owner wasn't open to criticism. criticism that i, as a paying customer, shared exclusively with the waitress after repeated requests. i absolutely cannot understand the behavior and certainly cannot tolerate it. we definitely won't be coming back.

Ich bin zum zweiten Mal in dieses Restaurant gegangen und habe es bereut. Ich bat den Kellner, das Essen weniger salzig zu machen, aber leider waren alle Gerichte versalzen und die Nudeln waren nicht mehr in Ordnung. Meine Familie und ich werden nicht mehr in dieses Restaurant zurückkehren.

Our regular place to have dinner on our way to Poland. Very tasty pasta -> definitely try the lasagna! Very friendly service with a touch of humor. (Small) children are more than welcome. Forget the KFC's and Pizza Huts of this world and just come and eat here with the family!

There were six of us for dinner + everyone was satisfied - the fact that a pizza arrived slightly late is forgivable - the service was quick and attentive - price/performance was okay - the only thing I personally didn't like was the small space , but that's Italian....👍

We were in Stromboli with 6 people, people from different countries with high level German skills, but with different local characteristics. It started when my Swiss colleague ordered a drink and the waiter started making fun of her. During every interaction with us, the sayings were a bit too intrusive - simply too much - we would have liked to have chatted a little without this self-proclaimed solo entertainer forcing himself back into the spotlight. The lowest point was reached when, while paying, he took our bank cards in his hand and read our names out loud and then wanted to know whether it was pronounced correctly. In my opinion this is excessive and disgraceful. The food was authentic Italian cuisine, very tasty and very well prepared. Nevertheless, I will probably hardly return there a second time. The great food weighs in for me the lack of friendliness and the bad feeling after visiting the restaurant are not noticeable. On the subject of ambience: a poinsettia that was wrapped in aluminum foil instead of in a pot... it's clear that the plant had been there for a long time... I won't say anything more.

Lunch was quite good, but not convincing. January 1/2024 Try again: Mussels too salted. You couldn't eat broth. Lasagna not good, left half of the dish. No regrets from the service, no grappa to make up for it. That was probably it with the Stromboli. Can be forgotten.

The table reserved by friends was not found. When we were finally allowed to sit down, there was no word or sign of apology. The food was very good and improved the overall impression somewhat.

Food was delicious, good customer service is different. We had made a special reservation, but when we arrived we couldn't find the reservation. The owner (?) wanted to know who we called. Since the person who made the reservation didn't arrive until later and apparently there wasn't a room available yet, we had to stand at the drafty door for 10 minutes. When it became clear that the reservation had apparently not been forwarded/registered, there was not a word of regret or apology. It would have been so easy to shorten the wait with a drink or serve us a digestive on the house later in the evening. And so, unfortunately, all that is remembered is the poor customer service and not the good food.

Essen grandios, aber leider war die Bedienung sehr herablassend zu uns ... aus welchem Grund auch immer ... wir sind freundliche umgängige Gäste, wirklich sehr schade. Mit ein bisschen mehr Freundlichkeit seitens der Bedienung hätte das ein schöner Abend sein können ...

Schönes Ambiente in einem gemütlichen Restaurant. Es war alles sauber. Die von mir gegessene Pizza Vegetaria hatte ausreichend Gemüse drauf was auch den richtigen Wärmegrad. Bemerkenswert war auch die unterhaltsame Art des Kellners die Speisen für unsere Gruppe zu servieren. Gerne probieren wir beim nächsten Mal noch mehr Delikatessen.

Das Stromboli ist ein sehr gutes italienisches Restaurant. Essen und Service sind sehr gut und der Preis angemessen. Die Tageskarte bietet immer leckere Gerichte.

Dieses Restaurant übertrifft alle meine Erwartungen an die Italienische Küche.Sehr,sehr nette Bedienung und total aufmerksam,vor allen Dingen verstehen sie auch Spaß,ich fragte ob ich den Koch mitnehmen könne und der Chef fragte mich,möchten sie den älteren oder den jüngeren,also so macht essen gehen wirklich Freude,auch wer draußen sitzen möchte,kein Problem,denn das Lokal hat auch sehr schöne Außenplätze,trotzdem es an der Podbi liegt,hört man den Straßenlärm nicht.Die Toiletten sind sehr,sehr sauber.Nur zu empfehlen 👍👍🤗🤗 auch das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist top.Vielen Dank an das Team für das heutige super Essen 😊😊

Nelle mie permanenze di lavoro ho trovato in questo ristorante una famiglia. Il cibo di buonissima qualità e freschezza. Il servizio sempre ottimo. Angelo il proprietario come i suoi collaboratori si vede che ci mettono sempre passione e entusiasmo nella cura dei piatti proposti e nella cura dei propri clienti. Un angolo di vera cucina italiana ad Hannover. Un motivo in più per tornare in questa bella città Tedesca.

Wir waren seit 30 Jahren mal wieder dort (leben nicht mehr in Hannover) und waren genauso begeistert wie damals. Weiter so, sehr gerne wieder...

Eine sehr gute italientsche Küche, so wie es sich gehört. Dazu eine nette Bedienung. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und das Essen war klasse! Wir haben allerdings reserviert.

Locale non molto grande, suggerisco di prenotare. Personale educato e veloce. Interessante i fuori menù. Ottimo il pesce e la pasta. Complimenti allo chef.
