A charming and authentic wine tavern nestled in the backyard between historic half-timbered houses. The food is rustic, but prepared with great knowledge and love, the drinks are good, and the atmosphere is informal. This isn't for those who prefer fine dining, but anyone who appreciates simple, good food will be in the right place. In the courtyard, under tarpaulins to protect against rain and in the shade of old chestnut trees, any weather is bearable, and you can truly indulge yourself with a good Hessian meal of sausage sandwiches, hand cheese, and apple wine. Please note: only open in summer and on weekends.

Me and my wife were there yesterday. We ordered a sweet spritzer and a pure apple cider. The apple cider is totally inedible. It tasted musty, putrid, moldy, old. We left the store after one sip each. Never again.

During a winter walk through Bad Vilbel I discovered this gem and the wish was immediately born: You have to go here in the summer. In July I discovered that the ostrich restaurant was open on Sunday lunchtime, so I went to Hasengasse. In front of me lay a romantic gem in the courtyard of a half-timbered house. Only regular guests probably receive a warm greeting, a smile or the entire package of food on offer here. Reservations for the evening are obviously essential, as all the seats were already reserved in the afternoon. It's definitely not a restaurant - you can find the delicious little things in the photo. My conclusion: You should definitely see it once and work on becoming a regular guest so that you can feel completely at home. The raspberry secco is very tasty.

My dad has raved about the amazing schnitzels and steaks so many times, so we finally got to try them today. We had a wonderful evening with fantastic schnitzels and great side dishes. The menu has something for everyone – it wasn't easy to choose! Everything was perfect, and we'll definitely be back to Hessenstübchen for another meal. :-)

A charming and lovingly decorated café in the heart of Bad Vilbel! Definitely worth a visit; on Thursdays, in addition to the regular menu, they also offer a breakfast buffet.

I was here for the first time a few days ago. The Pils Stube is right next to the Bad Vilbel Süd S-Bahn station... So perfect! First off - it's quite small and a smoking pub... We just barely managed to get a table. Many people come here for the incredibly amazing steak tartare... This time we had a double Handkäs with extra onions and vinegar, but we're allowed to try the tartare at our neighbors' place, as the 250g portions are quite a challenge even for big eaters. The tartare was fantastic, just like the bread... A definite recommendation from me!

My boyfriend and I ate here on December 13, 2025, as this restaurant was recommended to us and we received a voucher. We had a starter, main course, and dessert. The ambiance was okay, although it was quite full. Our table wasn't properly set; it was missing a tablecloth. However, we still got a table without a reservation, which was great. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed; some didn't understand German, and there were only three servers. For my starter, I ordered a vegetarian antipasti platter, and my partner had pumpkin soup (the house recommendation). My antipasti platter wasn't really antipasti at all, as it consisted only of steamed vegetables (cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, fennel, sun-dried tomatoes, and grilled eggplant, which was the only thing that resembled antipasti in my opinion, since it was cold while the rest of the dish was warm. It wasn't attractively presented either—just a plate full of vegetables). The exact same vegetables were served as a side dish with the main course, but they were labeled as vegetables. I sent my plate back and didn't eat it. I still had to pay for it, though! When our drinks were empty, our bottle and glasses weren't taken away, and we weren't asked if we wanted anything else. For our main course, I had the tuna steak. It wasn't cooked medium, it was raw. It was incredibly salty, and the vegetables were oversalted. It wasn't presented nicely and was cut far too thickly. I'm not someone who complains much about food or restaurants, or who sends food back. But here, I really have to. My partner had a rib-eye steak. That was okay, with the same vegetables. None of the dishes were presented attractively, the kind you usually see even in restaurants. We also got dessert: tiramisu and a chocolate soufflé, which could have been presented nicely as well. We also had a latte macchiato and a cappuccino. It wasn't served at the same time as dessert, so our drinks got cold. My tiramisu had chocolate sauce on it, which just didn't work and didn't taste good at all. The chocolate soufflé wasn't homemade either; it was store-bought. Therefore, we're giving this restaurant one star. We left feeling very disappointed and quite angry, as we rarely eat out and were simply very let down. I was still hungry afterward, so I got a doner kebab.
