Strandcafe in Radolfzell am Bodensee

Despite having a table reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes before being served. Some guests arrived about 20 minutes after us and received their food before us. Despite our complaint, there was no apology. The food was good.

We arrived in the afternoon for coffee and cake. When we asked if the terrace was open, the waiter replied no, as it was only 15 degrees outside. Upon our remark that this didn't bother us, he indignantly declared: "But it does bother us!" This is really unacceptable as a guest. First and definitely last visit there.

Very good service, the food and drinks were delicious, and we also really enjoyed the view of the lake. I can especially recommend it on days with good weather; it's easy to combine with a walk through the park.

Crowded and somewhat hectic on weekends. It can be quieter during the week, of course. Price and service are a bit off.

We had a wonderful evening with exquisite food and a delicious three-course meal. We highly recommend the pike-perch fillet with pumpkin crust. The window seat with a lake view was the icing on the cake.

Always happy to come back for dinner or coffee and cake. Beautiful view of the lake. We had the zander fillet with pumpkin crust on leek with tagliatelle in parsley sauce. It was delicious. There's also a children's menu. Nice service. In summer, however, there can sometimes be longer wait times.

Highly recommended. The food and the view are definitely worth a visit. However, when the staff is understaffed, the friendliness suffers somewhat.

We were treated very rudely when we waited at the entrance and asked for a table. We were rudely told to check the reservation signs ourselves to see how long the tables were available. There were no times listed, though. So we left. They seem to have enough customers and don't need to be polite.

The service was completely unprofessional. We had to wait 20 minutes for coffee at a dirty table and then another 15 minutes to pay. I've never experienced such poor service.

On August 16, 2025, at around 4:30 p.m., the service was completely overwhelmed, and we were very rudely asked to leave the restaurant because two servers could no longer serve. Several tables were empty. Apparently, the wrong people were working there. A shame. ☹️

We celebrated our wedding reception on September 4, 2025, at the Strandcafe. We and all 12 guests thoroughly enjoyed the food. Large portions for a good price. The waiter was very polite and (child-)friendly. Our guests had a great time with his manner. We can recommend everyone to eat or celebrate there.

We had ice cream sundaes and delicious coffee at the Mettnau Beach Café. The quality was very good, and the view of the lake made the visit particularly enjoyable. Unfortunately, the first two waitresses we asked for a seat weren't particularly friendly. We were all the more impressed by the lady with short blonde hair – she was truly exceptionally nice and attentive. Overall, a very pleasant visit, so I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Unfortunately, I was told to order something other than a hot chocolate with oat milk because the coffee machine was apparently already clean. And that was 1:30 hours before closing time…

We, two people, arrived without a reservation, but we were still warmly welcomed and allowed to stay. A beautiful setting with a sunset and a delicious sausage and cheese salad. Thank you for the wonderful time!

We were very hungry after an afternoon boat tour. So I checked Google Maps and the website. It says they serve hot food all day, so we drove there. When we were finally served, we were told they didn't serve food. So why not list it as a plus on the website and Google Maps? We won't go there again.

Must be further comments on this, I experienced it myself today... the waiter above was apparently from Turkey, as has already been described in other comments. As a customer, I don't feel comfortable/welcome at all when I'm greeted with "What do you guys want?" today, August 10, 2025. 1:1. The waiter greeted us like that. That's unacceptable. 0 Professionalism 0 Understanding. I was your regular customer. Today, absolutely zero understanding. With the sentence "What do you guys want?" No, sorry. Left immediately. Disappointment. We're adults who arrive in Porsches and Mustangs, and even that's how we're treated by the service... We didn't even hear "Sie" or "Halo." Just "What do you guys want?" Are you serious? Truly ridiculous.

Nice cafe, but parking is limited. Anyone who has to or wants to come by car should avoid this restaurant!

I was able to enjoy my birthday with my wife at this beautiful place. Very fine cuisine, dishes gently but deliciously seasoned. Mr. Cengiz's service was very attentive and friendly. All in all, a perfect moment for us. Very good menu with something for every taste. Absolutely excellent value for money! You'd have to pay more for this quality of food and service in many places. I would be happy to return with family and friends. Thanks to the team!

We were here for dinner. The ambiance is very nice outside, the inside is okay. Unfortunately, the food today was disappointing. There were tons of bones in the zander fillets, with wilted lettuce under the mountain of lettuce... intolerable for the price. The sausage salad was good. Unfortunately, the female server was extremely unfriendly and not at all on the ball. The four of us would have eaten considerably more if the wait for the menu, order taking, and serving hadn't dragged on so rudely. This was extremely poor, ignorant, and unfriendly service, the likes of which I've never experienced anywhere else.

Today, we (three companions) were booked for coffee with three people from a facility for severely disabled people, two of whom are wheelchair users. When we called to make a reservation, they said they weren't accepting reservations between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. because it was too busy, but we should definitely come and they would be happy to give us a nice seat. No way: nobody knew anything about it when we arrived. When we wanted to head for a table in an area where several seats were available, the manager said those seats were for other guests. Other guests, and what are we? So we wanted to sit outside, in the area where guests were already seated. They then said they didn't have any staff to serve there. But the guests there are served too... I then went back to the manager and pointed out that we had traveled an hour especially, and that they had expressly welcomed us on the phone, to which he didn't respond and simply left me standing there. Even my comment that I find it impossible to treat severely disabled people in this way didn't interest him. Outside, one of the waiters waved to me and pointed to a free table. He deserves credit for that. We then left. The joy we had hoped to bring to the people entrusted to us by serving them coffee and ice cream with a wonderful view of the lake had vanished. Instead, we were sad and angry at the same time and started the journey home disappointed. Apparently, the unique selling point of this place on the lake allows them to get away with anything and pick and choose their guests. Plenty of people still come, even if the service and food are sometimes rated very poorly. I haven't experienced such discriminatory behavior in a long time and can only hope that the "boss" doesn't find himself in the situation of being dependent on help and unwanted. Actually, the restaurant doesn't deserve a star, but since I have to award one for the text to be published, I'm giving one to the waiter who wanted to show us a table.

The food and the ambiance were captivating. Unfortunately, the weather was very windy that day, and since dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant, I had to eat outside. The staff, with the exception of one waiter, were extremely friendly and accommodating. Hence, one star deducted.

The beach cafe has a fantastic location – it couldn't be better! The food is delicious, what more could you want? If the weather is great, we recommend making a reservation.

Quiet café with a great view! I visited the café on a Tuesday afternoon. Most of the tables on the balcony, which overlooks the lake, were already occupied, so reservations are recommended. I still managed to get a table. The balcony offered an idyllic view of Lake Constance all the way to the Alps. The café itself was very quiet, perfect for a coffee break. The cake and tart selection was very diverse. From chocolate cakes to fruit cakes, there was everything. I opted for a latte macchiato and a slice of Frankfurter Kranz (a German cake). The slice of the Kranz (a German cake) was quite large. Both were delicious. Perfect for afternoon coffee!

The ambiance with a view of Lake Constance is actually nice; but the reflections from the building wall behind the terrace make it too loud. The service could be better! It's somewhat "processed" and impersonal! The food: I've had much better! Regarding my meal: the side salad (green salad) was no longer fresh. Rump steak: ordered rare and served medium; it was also lukewarm.

We had an outdoor table right by the lake and only ordered drinks. After we'd almost finished our drinks, my wife had to go to the restroom with her elderly mother, who has mobility issues. There was no one else at the table except for the wheelchair and a bottle of drink, as I had also left for a short time. Other guests arrived, and the table was simply cleared for them without asking. When my wife and her mother returned from the restroom, other guests were suddenly seated there. We understand service differently.

Very nice location - good food - slow service

On the evening of May 19th, we dined on the terrace of this restaurant. A waitress was very attentive to us. What can we say about the Turkish waiter? No smile, no tablecloth, despite the price of the meal, and plates that were slammed down on the table. A rudeness unworthy of such an establishment. This person has his place in the kitchen, not on the terrace welcoming customers.

Service on the terrace (female waiter) ignores guests and when asked after 20 minutes whether they can order something, there was no response and when leaving the answer was: No problem, the next guests will definitely come. Something like that doesn't work!!!! We certainly won't be coming back to this restaurant because it obviously doesn't need it.

Wir waren mit der Familie Essen. Service war gut. Essen nicht. Wir haben Spargel bestellt und extra gefragt ob die Sauce hollandaise frisch zubereitet wird oder eine fertig Soße ist. Es wurde gesagt, die Soße wird frisch zubereitet. Als der Spargel kam waren wir verwundert, es wurde einfach grüner Spargel dazugegeben. Es war nur ein Teil wirklich weißer Spargel wurde einfach mit günstigem grünen Spargel gemischt. Dies stand nicht in der Karte. Die Soße war im übrigen nicht selbstgemacht.

Unfortunately, service wasn't that great, we had to wait a long time until we were asked for drinks, prices were also a bit too expensive. Pork medallion €28.50. Even though the location is great, the food is really not worth the very high price. Just under 16 euros for a smaller Swiss sausage salad that is not even dressed with oil and vinegar but with a sauce similar to yogurt (which is not southern German)... Lange auf einen Tisch warten müssen, dann endlich sitzen, und wieder lange warten, Kellnerin kommt und sagt es gibt Nix zu Essen mehr,obwohl im Internet steht ganz Tag warme Küche. The beach café serves an excellent rump steak! (See image). The service is attentive and courteous! If the weather is nice, you should definitely make a reservation! The earlier you come, the richer the selection of cakes and tarts will be. In the evening you can watch a wonderful sunset. A visit is worth it whatever the weather!

Worst coffee stop ever. Tasteless espresso with a strange lump of steamed milk. Zero contact between the service staff and the guests - you almost have to dance on the table to get their attention. Most of the time, employees walk around empty-handed and pick up every little thing separately, which increases the waiting time and gives them extra mileage.

Is recommended, although the selection of dishes is quite small, but tasty. Seems to be full most of the time, so expect waiting times. Overall very good!

The soup was too salty, the main course looked at canteen level, but the taste wasn't really good. My companions weren't thrilled either. Service was very good, but we wanted to eat well.

We spent a great New Year's Eve in the new hall of the Strancafe. The menu was excellent (thanks to the kitchen), the waiters were friendly and attentive and there was also a dedicated duo who encouraged us to dance on the spacious dance floor (parquet). The beach café is the favorite restaurant when we treat ourselves to a break on the Mettnau. In addition to a fantastic view over the Lower Lake to the Hoeri, it offers a very nice ambience for a meal for two. The dishes on offer - my favorite: the fish variation on spinach - are rounded off with exquisite wines - my favorite here: the Auxerrois from Kress. The service is exemplary, the staff very friendly, attentive and always helpful. The price/performance ratio is very good. We can fully recommend the beach café.

Disappointed and upset. I was looking forward to a cozy meal after a long journey. Unfortunately, I was turned away at the entrance because I had my quiet little dog with me. Announcement: Dogs prohibited, only allowed outside. It's the end of October and you can't sit outside anymore. Carpeted inside, which is probably why dogs are forbidden. However, it smelled very musty and old-fashioned. I then ate a fantastic pizza a few steps away. My lovely dog ​​was also welcome there.
