The Mettnau beach café has always impressed us with its delicious cakes and great views. We had dinner there for the first time - there was something for everyone. We were thrilled! Delicious food, beautiful location and great service. Clear recommendation!

Disappointed and upset. I was looking forward to a cozy meal after a long journey. Unfortunately, I was turned away at the entrance because I had my quiet little dog with me. Announcement: Dogs prohibited, only allowed outside. It's the end of October and you can't sit outside anymore. Carpeted inside, which is probably why dogs are forbidden. However, it smelled very musty and old-fashioned. I then ate a fantastic pizza a few steps away. My lovely dog ​​was also welcome there.

Great location right on the lake... Great view and well-maintained terraces and interior. We were only there for coffee and cake and both were very good. I can recommend...

We have been to this cafe several times and it is always very nice. The service is very friendly and the cake is very tasty. When the weather is nice you can sit comfortably on the terrace.

Not a place for mere mortals. If you can't afford a 5 star Sylt vacation, you will be treated like a farmer in the Middle Ages. But the iced coffee and the ambience is nice. Funny story: When we were finished, cyclists were gossiping about the cafe. We had to laugh about it. They then spoke to us and asked if they knew what we meant. Unfortunately, we could only agree with a laugh. It's a shame actually.

If there is a sign in the entrance informing guests that they should wait there to be shown to a table, the staff should also approach the waiting guests and not simply walk past them several times. Only when I asked a waitress (after we stood stupidly in the entrance for 5 minutes) whether we could simply choose one of the many free tables (without a reservation sign) was she rudely told "No, just come with me for a moment". The waiter probably wasn't happy about the fact that we only wanted to order iced coffee and cake at 2 p.m. We also noticed that at the surrounding tables, as most of them simply didn't want to order lunch and he reacted unfriendly every time. The cake base for two different types of cake was strangely rubbery, at least the iced coffee was good (you can't go wrong with that either). With the service and expensive prices, you shouldn't be surprised if there are little or no tips.

Strandcafé Mettnau is a beautiful place to have a coffee or a meal in a peaceful atmosphere. The view of the lake is lovely. I couldn’t have imagined a better place to spend this sunny afternoon. The service was very friendly and attentive. Thank you. :)

We only had a snack. The cake (cheesecake) was impressively special and unusually dry. The service was rather superficial and inattentive (end of season?) But the location can be considered impressive and is very beautiful with the terrace overlooking the lake.

Unfortunately our food wasn't good today. The pasta had no taste, the vegetables were sweetened with sugar, the tomato salad consisted mainly of Rocula, the Maultaschen were lukewarm and had a strange consistency,... we won't eat there as often anymore.

Beach cafe is a bit of an understatement - it is a good restaurant with a variety of dishes and of course there is also coffee and cake. You can also just enjoy a glass of wine in the shade right by the water and eat, for example, pork medallions or, like me, just a delicious Caesar salad. Very nice view of and over the lake. You should make a reservation.

We like to come to the beach café and enjoy the wonderful view of the lake. The food has always tasted good to us and our dog also felt comfortable on the terrace. We are happy to pay a few euros more for the special location, the ambience and the fresh food.

The sunset boat trip with the solar boat starts from here. The captain lives his job, tells us something about the boat and the lake, nice action.

I had a short-term business meeting there and was once again impressed by this location right on the water - I'll go there again, but also for food.

Staff cannot speak English. Menu is only in German and is very poor. Meals are expensive comparing the quality. They do not provide any receipts. Be careful when you leave the parking place because parking barrier is very fast and dangerous.

Great restaurant...except that you have to sit outside with small dogs in the pouring rain...unfortunately, dogs and dogs are two different things, but an older, almost blind Mini has to go out on the terrace...hard to believe...would be a consideration... .otherwise nice staff and great food 👍

My husband went to the Strandcafe Mettnau again yesterday, based on our voucher from our daughter-in-law. We didn't have a drink, but due to a somewhat unfriendly waiter, we still got a nice table on the terrace with our dog. We got a super nice, friendly and attentive cellar. Our starter salad was very good. And our rump steak was also excellent. And don't forget the ambience. It was fabulous....

What a great team! We were able to celebrate our wedding with you and are still overwhelmed by your service! Mr. Eschger made all of our wishes come true, even with a thousand questions and wishes, he was always there for us and did everything with wit and humor to make our day perfect! The whole team was simply incredible - you can tell everyone's love for their job and the harmony in the team! You were so there for us, you looked after us and our guests so well! A huge thank you to everyone from the service, the decoration and the hospitality were incredible! You left nothing to be desired and all guests felt so comfortable! And last but not least: mega, mega delicious food! From the canapes and cakes to the menu and the midnight snack, every single guest said that we have rarely eaten something so delicious! Entschieden haben wir uns kurzfristig eine Kleinigkeit dort zu essen! Ich entschied mich für die Kleinigkeit, Wurstsalat, worauf meine Mitreisenden gemeint hatten, dass 15 € relativ happig für einen Schweizer Wurstsalat sind. Meine Meinung war dazu, wenn Lyoner Verwendet wird, die ist halt einfach etwas teurer, dann ist das okay! Ehrlich gesagt, als dann der Wurstsalat kam, war komplett entgeistert! Dick geschnittene Fleischwurst, niedrigster Qualität und Industrie. Käse wurden zu einer Pampe vermengt und einem mit zwei halbe Eier und zwei Salatblätter hingestellt! In keinster Weise das Geld wert. Ein Punkt gibt es nur wegen der wirklich freundlichen Bedienung und weil man keine Null Punkte vergeben darf! Schade ist, dass ich wahrscheinlich nie wieder dort was essen wäre! Hat auch was damit zu tun, dass ich somit nicht weiß wie die Qualität der anderen Produkte aussieht! Die Preise in der Region sind auf jeden Fall nicht so hoch wie im Strandcafe, und die Qualität ist fast überall besser. Schade!

Unverschämter Service, Qualität der Gerichte „geht so“, geht aber gar nicht bei den Preisen. 300gr Spargel geschält, mit Salzkartoffeln und einem Klacks Sauce Hollandaise 24,90 €, dazu Saiblingsfilet (minimalste Größe) Rumpsteak (dünn ist gleich minimalste Größe) jeweils 14,50 € zusätzlich. Drei Scheiben gekochter Schinken 8,50 € ebenfalls zusätzlich zum Spargel Grundpreis. Die Bitte nach mehr Sauce. Hollandaise wurde vom Service, grundsätzlich trotz dreimaliger Aufforderung ignoriert. Ein anderer Kellner half nach der 4. Bitte aus, da war allerdings der Spargel bereits kalt. Die Kollegin wurde auf ihr unverschämtes Verhalten angesprochen, was sie allerdings so viel interessierte wie der berühmte Sack Reis der in Peking umfällt, nämlich gar nicht. Ein derart unverschämtes Verhalten dieser Kollegin habe ich in vielen Jahren auch als Reisejournalistin nicht kennen gelernt. Von der Qualität des Essens will ich gar nicht weiter reden. Beim durchlesen anderer Bewertungen ist mir aufgefallen, dass sie tatsächlich ein Problem mit ihrem Service Personal haben. Bei allem Fachkräftemangel, aber da sind schon Verhalten vorgekommen die in keiner Weise akzeptabel sein können.

Fantastic location. However, the food selection is disappointing. Not suitable for vegetarians or even vegans: there was parmesan in the “vegetarian” dish. Apparently only the salad is vegan. Unfortunately, this is not shown on the map either.

Gerne war ich vor Jahren Gast im Strandcafe, die Lage und damaligen Fischkrusteln mit hausgemachtem Dipp waren an verschiedenen Salaten immer ein Genuss! Heute war ich absolut enttäuscht! 1.Das Bedienungspersonal ist ( wie auch bei meinen letzten Besuchen genervt und unterbesetzt! Sätze wie: Ich habe nur zwei Arme und Beine empfinde ich nach Anfrage der Rechnung nicht kundenfreindlich! 2. Meine Salatvariation mit Zanderknusperle bestand aus einigen Blattsalaten, 2 Gurkenscheiben und 1 Teelöffel Karottensalat! Dazu wurde mir kein Brot gereicht Die Knusperle waren eindeutig TK Ware und schwammen im Fett! Qualität des Essens : unbefriedigend, Imbiss Stand mäßig Personal: überfordert, unfreundlich, gestresst Abschluss Meinung: Ausblick auf den See ist genial, aber das Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht mehr! Schade! Das war heute mein letzter Besuch in diesem Restaurant, in welchem ich mich als Gast nicht willkommen gefühlt habe!

Price-performance ratio is (unfortunately) not right. Great to enjoy the view with a drink/ice cream. But you can get food cheaper and of much better quality in the surrounding area. With such a small menu with prices, we expected high-quality, home-cooked food and not, for example, Maultaschen/Spätzle out of a bag. Unfortunately disappointing. Meine Frau hatte eine Apfel- Sellerie- Cremesuppe wo beim ersten mal bringen leider schwach lauwarm war und beim zweitenmal bringen leider nur lauwarm war. Ich hatte einen Wurstsalat ohne Brot. Als der Nachbartisch fragte wo das Brot sei, wurde erklärt weil sich das Lokal in einem Naturschutz befindet gäbe es kein Brot, was der Nachbartisch leicht Sauer aufnahm. Könnte man dies nicht wo sichtbar vermerken um sollche Situationen vermeiden?

The location is just great. If the weather is good, definitely sit outside and it would make sense to make a reservation for food. But there is a waiter who isn't really diplomatic. A pity!!! But if you're lucky you'll catch someone else ;-). If your location is full, be patient. The food is really great and the boss himself comes to the guests when things get too much to smooth things over

Great ambience with a very great and magnificent view of the lake. The service is nice and very accommodating. The audience tends to be a bit older. This is probably due to the fact that there are some spas and rest houses around it. The ambience is good but no longer quite state of the art in order to attract new and fresh audiences.

Das Essen erhält von mir 4 Sterne, es war wirklich sehr lecker und sehr schön angerichtet. Wenn man hier hin möchte, sollte man auf jeden Fall vorher reservieren, da es hier immer sehr gut besucht ist. Die Freundlichkeit der Bedienung und auch deren Aufmerksamkeit lässt etwas zu wünschen übrig. Deshalb ein Stern Abzug. Die Lage des Strandcafés ist natürlich exzellent, direkt am Wasser. Man hat einen wunderschönen Blick direkt auf den See und die umliegenden Orte. Das lohnt sich auf jeden Fall zu jeder Jahreszeit.
