Yesterday we reserved a table for two people in the evening. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old renovated building. Unfortunately it has been renovated somewhat. High-gloss laminate floors, white dividers between the tables with some pretty creepy “art” that’s more reminiscent of an Italian pizzeria. It was a cool autumnal evening and so the “baked autumnal vegetables with peppered aubergine” and the “half duck” really appealed to me. The autumnal vegetable with the eggplant turned out to be a sliced ​​spring roll. There was nothing autumnal about it and only the pastry shell was baked. Conclusion: creative formulations are nice, but they should also deliver what they promise. The duck, on the other hand, was very well prepared, the red cabbage was still crisp and very fine. The bread dumpling came as a fried triangle. For dessert we chose the cheese plate with homemade fruit bread and were a bit surprised when the waiter asked twice. Okay - the plate came fresh from the fridge. All 6 (very good!) cheeses fridge cold. The fact that the accompanying fruit bread was also cold and quite soggy confirmed our suspicion that the entire plate had spent the last few hours in the refrigerator under foil. That shouldn't happen in a house like this. In response to our complaint there was an apology and an espresso and a glass of wine from the house. It's nice, but it doesn't make up for it What particularly bothered us - the service was nice and courteous. Nevertheless, the plate of bread served before the meal, along with the bowl of butter and quark, remained on our table until the bill was paid. And we certainly didn't have the best day, because the restaurant was only occupied by 3 tables. Unfortunately, the whole house exudes a cold 80s-90s atmosphere. We might try again in the summer with the really beautiful garden.

Wir hatten gestern einen Tisch für 2 Personen am Abend reserviert. Das Restaurant befindet sich ein einem schönen alten sanierten Gebäude. Leider hat man es etwas kaputtsaniert. Hochglönzender Laminatböden, weiße Trennelemente zwischen den Tischen mit ziemlich gruseliger „Kunst“, die eher an eine italienische Pizzeria erinnert. Es war ein kühler herbstlicher Abend und so schauten mich das „gebackene herbstliche Gemüse mit gepfefferter Aubergine“ und die „halbe Ente“ sehr an. Das herbstliche Gemüse mit der Aubergine entpuppte sich als eine in Scheiben geschnittene Frühlingsrolle. Herbstlich war das nichts und gebacken war lediglich der Teigmantel. Fazit: kreative Formulierungen sind nett, sollten aber in etwa auch halten, was sie versprechen. Die Ente wiederum war sehr gut zubereitet, der Rotkohl noch knackig und sehr fein. Der Semmelknödel kam als aufgebratenes Dreieck daher. Zum Dessert hatten wir uns für den Käseteller mit hausgemachtem Früchtebrot entschieden und uns schon etwas gewundert, als der Kellner zweimal nachfragte. Okay - der Teller kam nun frisch aus dem Kühlschrank daher. Alle 6 (sehr guten!) Käse kühlschrankkalt. Dass das dazugehörige Früchtebrot ebenso kalt und ziemlich durchweicht war, bestätigte unseren Verdacht, dass der gesamte Teller unter Folie die letzten Stunden in der Kühlung verbracht hat. Das darf in so einem Haus nicht passieren. Auf unsere Reklamation gab es eine Entschuldigung und einen Espresso und ein Glas Wein aus Haus. Ist nett, macht es aber nicht wett Was uns besonders störte - der Service war nett und zuvorkommend. Dennoch blieb der vor dem Essen servierte Brotteller samt Butter- und Quarkschälchen bis zum Begleichen der Rechnung auf unsrem Tisch stehen. Und sicher haben wir nicht den besten Tag erwischt, denn das Restaurant war lediglich mit 3 Tischen belegt. Leider versprüht das ganze Haus eher eine kalte 80-90er Jahre Atmosphäre. Wir versuchen es evtl nochmal im Sommer mit dem wirklich schönen Garten.

We were there for lunch. A really very fine 5-course menu with excellent quality. I really liked the fact that the vegetables come from regional solidarity farming, which you can definitely taste. The service was impeccable and in a good mood, which is what you want everywhere.

The reception from the senior manager was very unfriendly and not very professional. Clearly our appearance did not meet their requirements. We could tell this from other guests and their reception. The kitchen was very good. Very creative, tasty and regional. Unfortunately we had a bit of bad luck with the monkfish. The hosts' response to the critical comment about the dish was appropriate and professional. The male host, whose name I unfortunately didn't ask for, was extremely friendly, very professional and very pleasant and knowledgeable. He knows the large wine list very well. I really liked this advice. The menu was a bit quick. We ordered a 7-course menu and were unfortunately full after the 5th course. We had shared this comment with the male host. His reaction was very straightforward and extremely professional. Then the senior manager came to the table and was very abrupt. Her comment was that you should think about what you want and can eat beforehand! What should we do now that everything is ordered? I said it was no problem and we would pay for it. I was really amazed! Above all, the tone of voice and facial expression were very inappropriate. I criticized this way after paying. On the bill there was a 5 course menu with water and wine. I thanked the male host very much. On the way out I asked the senior manager if she could give me my criticism. While I was speaking and explaining, she interrupted me. I didn't expect such a harsh manner and unprofessionalism. Instructive, lacking insight and extremely unfriendly. A real shame and extremely inappropriate for such a high quality and delicious cuisine and creative chef. Kitchen 4/5 Male host service 5/5 Senior boss 1/5. Very, very unfortunate.

Nous avons déjeuné dans ce magnifique restaurant qui possède une terrasse paradisiaque. Les repas sont excellents, bien préparés avec des produits frais. Un havre de paix et de plus la cerise sur le gâteau, pas de mouches, ni guêpes, que le bruit de l'eau qui coule de la fontaine. Un décor à couper le souffle. Les mignardises servis avec le café et prépares par le patron sont succulentes. Que du plaisir. restaurant à voir si vous êtes amateur de bonne cuisine.

Ein typisches Lokal wo Preis und Leistung in keinster Weise zusammenpassen. Miniportionen, der 4 Gänger hat problemlos auf einem normalen Teller platz. Der Koch scheint doch eher Dekorateur zu sein. Dazu kommt eher unfreundliches Personal, welches wenig Verständnis dafür hat, wenn jemand nun einmal Ziegenkäse nicht essen mag und bei den überrissenen Preisen sich etwas aus den vorgegebenen Menus zusammmestellt. Einmal und nie wieder.

A fantastic lunch in a beautiful garden Nice weather and on this Tuesday, not too many guests in the wonderfully beautiful place Stork garden can be found. Even as regular guests, we always find new “creations” on the menu to discover. In our case (as no longer a heavy eater), the kitchen was very flexible and accommodated our menu requests without any ifs or buts. Despite years of high standards, the cuisine is still evolving. The simplest dishes, such as tripe, become a delicacy at Helfersrieders, seasoned with fresh herbs and vegetable brunoise. We really enjoyed our visit to Storchen. Thanks!

Schönes Wetter und an diesem Dienstag , nicht all zu viele Gäste im traumhaft schönen Storchengarten anzutreffen. Auch als regelmässige Gäste, finden wir immer wieder neue "Kreationen" auf der Karte die es zu entdecken gibt. Die Küche hat sich in unserem Falle, (als nicht mehr Vielesser) sehr flexibel gezeigt und ist unseren Menüwünschen ohne wenn und aber, nachgekommen. Die Küche entwickelt sich trotz jahrelangem hohen Niveau, immer noch weiter. Einfachste Gerichte, wie Kutteln werden bei Helfersrieders, abgeschmeckt mit frischen Kräutern und Gemüse Brunoise, zur Delikatesse. Wir haben unseren Besuch im Storchen sehr genossen. Danke!

To praise the stork is to carry owls to Athens. The food was creative but solid and extremely carefully made down to the last detail. Great wine selection. Friendly, competent service. “Good room” without any fuss, the garden is wonderfully quiet and cozy. The rooms are spacious, simple and functional. Always a wonderful pleasure! The Storchen is a jewel in beautiful Breisgau.

Wir waren 3 Übernachtungen über Vatertag/Muttertag im Storchen. Bei Anreise hatten wir ein sehr gutes Mittagsmenue. Es ist eine ehrliche Küche, mit sehr hochwertigen Zutaten. Erst Brot mit Schmalz und Kräuterquark, dann einen Gruß aus der Küche (Kohlrabisüppchen mit Limette). Dann Tatar von der Fjordforelle mit eingelegtem Gemüse und Salat. Anschließend Saltimbocca mit Risotto und Spargel. Dann Panna Cotta mit Erdbeer-Rhabarber-Crumble. Alles hervorragend! Wir können das Restaurant uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Das Zimmer ist neu, unseres war klein aber völlig ausreichend. Das Frühstück sehr gut! Es wird am Tisch serviert, nur allerbeste Zutaten und alles da, was man möchte. Die Familie führt mit Herz, alle sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und es bleiben keine Wünsche offen.

Wir kamen auf Empfehlung eines Freundes und um es mit seinen Worten zu sagen-unser Gaumen hatte es als wohliges Erlebnis aufgenommen-die Fischsuppe ausgezeichnet ebenso der Fischsalat aus gemischtem Fisch bis zum dessert Creme brulee.... Unbedingt einen Besuch wert.

We had dinner at the Storchen...so I can't comment on the rooms. The restaurant is modern but also cozy with the tiled stove. Tasteful decoration with beautiful individual objects and fresh flowers, everything is very appealing. The service and the hosts are very friendly but not intrusive. The menu at the "Grosse Storch" was - as always - a great culinary journey, this time all about fish and there was also a vegetable stork. Even during the fish weeks, pure meat eaters also have a nice selection of starters and main courses. The restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star, and rightly so. We appreciate the pleasant atmosphere and the beautiful seasonal dishes. Whether as a menu or put together yourself, it is always a culinary delight. Another successful evening, this time as a finale to my birthday. Thank you.

The food is gastronomical and therefore not inexpensive, but it is delicious. Definitely an experience. My review is mainly targeted to the human interaction. I ordered a 3 course menu and asked if I could exchange the desert with one of the first courses. I was told that it could have a slight price increase. At the end I was charged for a 4 course menu, but I did not get the desert as I wasn't aware the price increase would actually result in the price of the 4 course menu. I am disappointed that there was no communication during the whole serving time about this topic. Also, the waiter touched the drinking cups for the soup and coffee mugs at the rim with his fingers. In such an establishment, one would expect at least a bit more hygienic service.

Der Chef Jochen Helfesrieder ist sehr kreativ in seiner Menü Gestaltung. Die Gerichte waren absolut erstklassig. Geschmacklich hervorragend zubereitet, mit sehr wohlschmeckenden Kombinationen. von der Reservierung bis zum Abschied einfach perfekt. Wir haben einen wunderschönen Abend erlebt und wurden menschlich wie kulinarisch bestens verwöhnt. Was aus der Küche kam war optisch wie geschmacklich raffiniert, traumhaft auf einer abgestimmt und einfach toll. Wir hatten noch am nächsten Tag dieses wunderschöne Gefühl. Dies war unser zweiter Besuch im Storchen. Das heißt: es hat uns Anfang Juli sehr sehr gut gefallen. Diesmal: schöner Tisch im Garten, sehr freundlicher Empfang, prima. Als ich dann leider meine Kalbskutteln habe zurückgehenlassen müssen, da Pfifferlinge mit verarbeitet waren, kippte die Stimmung. NB: die Pfifferlinge waren in der Karte nicht erwähnt! Muß ich dann damit rechnen, nur weil es gerade Pfifferlingsaison ist, daß sie unangekündigt in jedem Essen sind? Bin ich als Gast per se verpflichtet zu sagen, daß mir Pfifferlinge nicht guttun?? Das jedenfalls meinte die Seniorcheffin (?) nicht gerade freundlich, sie hatte an ihrem Job merklich keinen Spaß. Wir haben schließlich nacheinander gegessen, die Cheffin hat‘s gerettet! Nicht dramatisch. Absolut unter Sterneniveau empfanden wir jedoch die Tatsache, daß gegen Ende unseres Essens der Senior- und Juniorchef sich abwechselnd an zwei Tische zum Plaudern setzten (es saßen wohl Freunde oder Verwandte da), für uns aber nicht mehr als ein undeutliches Nicken übrig hatten. Soetwas darf in einem ‚ausgezeichneten‘ Restaurant nicht passieren. Wenn der Koch die Küche verlässt, dann hat er bitteschön für jeden Gast ein paar Worte parat. Das gehört doch zum 1x1!!! Schade um das vorzügliche Essen.

We were attracted by the Michelin star of the restaurant. And having hotel accommodation was a nice extra. The food was very innovative with mackerel and chevice of fennel with safran. Beautiful lobster with curry and couscous. A choice of fish or meat as main course and really beautiful German cheese as desert. And sitting outside on the terrace with a pont in front was very idyllic. Even small lamps if it gets darker. A very extensive wine list with local wines at very reasonable prices. Including quite a few half bottles. The rooms are very modern and spacious. A place we want to go back to!

A very good and ambitious restaurant with excellent ingredients and some surprising dishes, like the culinary beetroot salad or the tartare with beetroot. But also classics like Dover sole or a veal cutlet, impressive sizes and excellent ingredients well prepared. Nice wine list with many safe bets but also a great array of German produce, of excellent quality. Great service. Nice decorating and beautiful steak knives. The selection of salt and pepper, not needed, could be more ambitious with some speciality salts and exotic peppers.

What an experience, you enter an old house in the countryside with low doors (mind your head) and find yourself in a cosy "Stube". The menu is not extensive but what you find there is of high quality. We chose different dishes and all of them were of the old school, no "schnick-schnack" but solid cooking with style and your taste-buds had ample work to do. The wine list provides a very good choice and this at reasonable prices. The service by the two ladies of the house was very attentive but discreet as it should be - really old school and this is what we like. We shall definitely be back when next in the region.

Having had one or two disappointing experiences with Michelin-starred restaurants, we went to this one with an open mind. We needn't have worried though as it was delicious from start to finish. The restaurant is part of a 'gasthof' which is situated in a small village. They do have a pretty little garden but, unfortunately, the weather was wet and cool when we went. We opted for their set menu and asked for wine recommendations which we enjoyed and which complimented the food well. It is quite a small restaurant, and the atmosphere was very convivial. Attractive paintings, lots of light-coloured wood and white linen make the restaurant light and airy. Service was efficient and cheerful. As can be expected at a Michelin-star restaurant, this was not a cheap meal, but worth every penny. A lot of hard work and imagination had gone into the preparation of the delightfully fresh ingredients. The food was beautifully presented with lots of colour, texture and flavour, and we made the most of our three-hour dining experience taking in and enjoying everything going on around us. We would definitely go back, perhaps next time for a lovely sunny lunch in their garden.

The location is in a good location near the center and train station, with plenty of outdoor seating. Staff is courteous and fulfills requests at no extra charge. The price/performance ratio for the food is reasonable and of course also a question of taste. We enjoyed it. Food was freshly prepared and the sauces for the pizza were homemade. The chef's hot sauce was unfortunately a bit too mild and mayonnaise-heavy, but still not bad. We'd love to come back👍🏻
