Steakhaus La Cabaña in Frechen

I expected much more from an Argentinian steakhouse. Six of us went there for dinner on Friday. We waited half an hour until someone came and brought us the menu so we could order drinks. Another half hour passed before the drinks finally arrived. The food came a full hour later. I ordered a mixed salad (10 euros) and a rump steak. The salad wasn't worth the money, and I was quite surprised when only the steak was served on a large plate. I would have had to order herb butter, etc. separately. No one came to offer us drinks, even when the plates were cleared and we were still sitting there. We asked for the bill... 20 minutes later, we were told to go to the cashier to pay. I have a different idea of ​​service... Poor value for money. Conclusion: Not recommended.

Top address for a steak that is second to none

Six of us ate there today. We waited half an hour before anyone even came to bring us the menu so we could order a drink. Then we had to wait another hour for our food, and it wasn't as ordered. A truly fantastic steakhouse with a lovely ambiance. Very friendly staff, and the food, from salads to bread with dips and excellent steaks and side dishes, is beyond reproach. It's not exactly cheap, but it's worth it for us 😋👌🏻🍽🍷

Disappointment! Service is poor; you're not really served, and only after repeated requests are you able to order more drinks. The steak is okay, but the sides and soup are tasteless. The ambiance is old and dirty.

A point deduction is that there are no large pepper mills. On the other hand, the chorizo ​​sausages are quite OK. The steaks are apparently good. Another point deduction is that you can only pay with cash or debit card. A steakhouse where you're spending €60 per person has to accept credit card payments.

Steak heaven hangs over Frechen; La Cabana has been in business for over 30 years, and rightly so. The restaurant has been meticulously maintained for 30 years and offers top-quality produce—keep it up. In my opinion, they offer the best steaks anywhere.

Unfortunately, our visit was disappointing. The service left a lot to be desired – drinks were brought only sparingly, even though we were practically the only ones in the restaurant by the end. The three steaks we ordered weren't cooked to perfection (a real shame for a steakhouse), and the €4 price for a handful of fries on the side was completely excessive. The steaks themselves were very tasty, but it's a shame that four people couldn't eat at the same time (the last steak we adjusted arrived after the first person had already finished their plate). We won't be going back.

The waiter is totally rude and arrogant. You're treated like a third-class citizen. The food is brought without a serving plate. The waiter is slow to show up. When you ask for a serving plate, you get rude replies. You cut short the dinner and left. Never again, really.

I haven't had a tasty steak twice in a row. Even though the second time I ordered a fillet, it had way too much fat. The garlic butter doesn't taste too salty.

First and last visit! 👎🏼 We (8 people) placed a reasonable order. However, NONE of the dishes we ordered were as hoped or desired. The aioli had a bit of a tang, the meat was raw, and out of 400g, almost 150g was just fat, and to top it all off, the fries were seasoned with garlic instead of salt. The service/waiters were always attentive and friendly! Another plus point is the ambiance; the place has a rustic decor and is very cozy! All in all, however, I recommend another steakhouse because you won't get full just from friendly service and a cozy atmosphere! It's a shame, this restaurant has so much potential!

Bad, three months of pain just because a cook didn't wash his hands after using the toilet. He reported it to the health department via the internist. Better off somewhere else.

It used to be much better. It takes a very long time for the food to be served. The waiter said, "It just takes time." Unfortunately, the value for money is no longer good.

An authentic location where you can watch the chef at work and enjoy a truly delicious steak! We go here regularly and have never been disappointed!

Unfortunately, the visit to the restaurant did not meet our expectations at all. We ordered different dishes, but they were all bad in their own way. The lamb was done, even though it was supposed to be medium rare. The baked potato was undercooked and the spinach was basically unseasoned. The steak was completely drowned in Bernais sauce and the salad plate was carelessly prepared and consisted almost exclusively of iceberg lettuce. All dishes were definitely not worth their price. We were also charged three times for baguettes and dips for a total of €30, which we hadn't ordered but were simply placed on the table. We like to eat out often, but we definitely felt ripped off here. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are much better ones in the area.

Always great quality food, authentic Argentinian steakhouse at fair prices

Very good, very tasty, very much, very expensive. Highly recommended for anyone who has a lot of money and can afford it. Attention: Not for vegetarians! Very clean except for one small incident, which was taken care of immediately.

We went to La Cabaña on a Saturday evening without a reservation and despite the fact that all the tables were occupied or reserved, everything was made possible so that we were still allowed to come in. We were very happy about that because we really enjoy being guests at La Cabaña. As always, the food was delicious and of high quality and the service was very courteous and friendly. The authentic ambience makes us like to think back to our time in Argentina and indulge in cultural and culinary memories. We'll definitely be back - thank you!

Delicious steaks, nice staff but a bit drafty/cold at least in winter

Food good. However, it took forever. After 1:30 hours I asked how long the meal would last. Answer: “Well, it just takes a while.” That's not good service!

We were there on March 1st. - back again after a long time. It was a successful evening all around. Super 😋 delicious and the staff was great. Always recommended. I didn't take any pictures because we wanted to enjoy the evening 🥰😉 Reservations are recommended as it is always full.

It's been a while since my visit: The quality of the food was ok, but there are not large portions. In my opinion, poor value for money. The waiter brought bread with dip for the whole table (10 people) without being asked. I didn't order it and was allowed to pay extra for it later :( Additionally, the basement was extremely dull. No smile came to his lips. In order to order more drinks, we had to wave and gesticulate wildly so that he would notice us. Then he took the order. When I wanted to order a coffee after dinner at 9:15 p.m., I was told that it was no longer possible because the machine had already been cleaned. Bad customer service! The waiter didn't come to the table to pay either; instead, we had to stand in line at the checkout like in the supermarket and pay one after the other. Then I noticed that the appetizers that had been previously served but not ordered (5 baskets of bread/dip) were silently added to the bill for every second of us. In my opinion it doesn't work at all!!! I had previously heard so much praise about the restaurant and was very disappointed with the value for money and the service.

We go there often. The food is very good, we are always thrilled. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Ambiance is ok, only the terrace/extension at the back could use a little updating. Otherwise, gladly again.

I like to eat here when there is a special occasion. The ambience is great. Although the restaurant was very busy (reservations are essential, even during the week), we didn't notice much of it. The meat is prepared on a charcoal grill. The quality is great, the service is very friendly and accommodating. The owner family are Argentinians who really know their craft very well. This restaurant is an absolute recommendation!! Update: Still one of the best addresses if someone wants to eat steak. Recently there had been criticism that the service had deteriorated. I cannot confirm this on my last visit. I also think the potato debate is great. It is calculated how many reservations there are. The potatoes are pre-cooked accordingly. That's how it can turn out. This is still the best price-performance restaurant in the Cologne area.

It's simply become too expensive, the portions are getting smaller and smaller, every little thing costs extra. No, sorry, that used to be an insider tip, but it's no longer. For 2 people with a starter and 2 drinks €80, it's definitely not possible.

We've been eating at this restaurant for years and we're thrilled every time. You get a baguette with delicious, homemade aioli, chimichurri and olives (free of charge). We've eaten steak here several times before and it was actually good, but this time it was a disaster. The bread was very wobbly at the beginning, and my wife's steak was raw instead of medium, so I had to eat it alone. Then there were no baked potatoes again! The plates were carelessly served with tomato mozzarella without any taste of spices. The waiters were also not attentive and we had to constantly call for new drinks. All in all, an expensive but unsatisfactory evening!

I had a rump steak with a baked potato, extra salad and a few slices of baguette and was very satisfied. The service regularly asked whether there were any further requests. Great, that's how I like it.

Then there wasn't even baked potatoes.....but loveless fries.....The service is also written down here.....

We were guests there this evening. The sirloin steak was very good and is recommended. Unfortunately the mixed fish platter was very disappointing. Two very small and thin fish fillets, certainly end pieces, that were hopelessly grilled and a relatively large piece of squid. I really expected more, especially since they advertise their Mediterranean fish menu on their website.

The ambience is OK. The side dishes were delicious. My 300g medium sirloin steak was half covered in tendons and very bloody on the inside, almost raw. The taste was good, but half of it was not edible because of the tendons. I understand that you can't see into the flesh and can "miss" internal tendons. However, I would have expected a small compensation (new, small steak, a discount or at least an espresso or schnapps). The waiter's reaction: "I'll pass it on." The full €25.50 was collected for this tendon-riddled piece of meat plus side dishes and drinks. We had to separate the bill ourselves when we wanted to pay separately. Service is very important here.

We didn't like it, the atmosphere wasn't inviting, the service was slow and the plates were absolutely loveless. The quality of the meat was very good but unfortunately that's not enough given the prices.

Actually a wonderful steakhouse. We have enjoyed going there for a very long time. The service has always been a bit poor but the very good food and the nice ambience make up for the overall picture. However, prices have currently reached a level that is unfortunately no longer fair. Of course steak is expensive and the quality is high - but it is currently overpriced.

Super tasty steaks from the charcoal grill

Ordered a table for 10 people in 4 weeks. When we met there, the restaurant was closed. No call, no email, nothing... Two couples had to travel over 70 km. It's a complete impudence not to inform us. Not a cent more from us.

We reserved a table for 7 people to celebrate my friend's birthday. When we arrived, we found ourselves standing in front of a locked door and had to go somewhere else to eat at short notice because the restaurant was closed “due to a technical defect”. It's a shame because the food is actually very tasty. We are angry because they could have informed us about it over the phone.

The salad has always been below average for me. However, the service today was worse than bad. The long-time waiter who was there seemed to be in a very bad mood but tried to be polite and friendly but came across as annoyed. That's absolutely not possible. At the beginning we must have waited half an hour for our drinks before we were even asked. When the bottle of wine and water were gone, we weren't even asked if we wanted anything else. A pity

It would have been 5 stars if the salad was better. I really don't think ice cream lettuce is anything special, there are many types of salad that taste better. Otherwise we enjoyed it very much, but soon there won't be any extra salad anymore.

Perfect steaks, delicious patatas fritas. Aperitif was very good. Also particularly important to us: family friendly! We were there with our 4 children, which is viewed strangely in some restaurants. We felt welcome and very comfortable here.

Wo soll ich anfangen.... Wir hatten Steaks bestellt....das Filetsteak war mit Sehnen durchzogen????Der Spinat schmeckte überhaupt nicht(viel zu trocken) Die Fritten waren übermäßig gesalzen....im großen und ganzen....wir würden nicht mehr kommen. Das 0,2 Gaffel Kölsch kostet 2.90 Euro. Das ist eine absolute Frechheit. In Köln kostet das Kölsch zwischen 2.00 Euro und 2.30 Euro.

Das Fleisch hat eine super Qualität und war einfach perfekt. Preis/Leistung ist super, allerdings konnte der Service nicht Punkten.

Schlicht, rustikal eingerichtetes, traditionelles Steakhaus im besten Sinne. Souverän auf dem Grill zubereitete Steaks und klassische Beilagen machen diesen Argentinier seit vielen Jahren zu einer Empfehlung.

Hüfte war geschmacklich super. Bei Hüfte kann es sein, dass zähe Stücke mit dabei sind. Da kann aber keiner was für. Leider hatte ich etwas Pech.

Geschmacklich war das Essen wirklich gut, bis auf den Dosenmais im Salat. 22:30 Uhr letzte Runde??? Samstags??? Also 2 Kölner kommen schon mal nicht wieder.

Traditionelles Argentinisches Steakhaus mit Holzkohle Grill im Restaurant. Der Service ist sehr Aufmerksam und Freundlich und das Essen war Fantastisch!

Das Essen war absolut Spitze. Wir hatten von Fisch über Pute und Rindfleisch alles am Tisch. Alles war sehr gut. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön. Die Bedienung zuvorkommend. Der Zeit entsprechend sind die Preise gehoben und die Portionen, na sagen wir übersichtlich. Halt ein Kompromiss zwischen Preis und Portionsgröße.

Qualität des Fleisches gut, Beilagen eher durchschnittlich und mit wenig Liebe und Geschick angerichtet. Für ein Restaurant der gehobenen Preisklasse ziemlich beschämend.
