Stadtkeller in Dachau

One of the most disastrous restaurant experiences of my life. Although we had called ahead to ask if the kitchen would be open at 9 pm, we were practically turned away at the entrance by two waiters who didn't even greet us and blew cigarette smoke in our faces. After a brief discussion, they invited us inside. As soon as we entered the hallway, a large cloud of cigarette smoke hit us. The smell was extremely overpowering. The dining room was poorly decorated, and the cigarette smell was noticeable there as well. The waiters were rude to us and handed us a piece of paper, which turned out to be the daily menu. The food was okay, nothing special. After the meal, they offered us an ouzo. We politely declined, as we all had to drive. Instead, they brought us three small Spezi (a popular German soft drink). We assumed these were on the house. ... But the worst part is yet to come: When we looked at the bill, it listed six small Spezi (a popular German soft drink) plus the drinks we had actually ordered. They were trying to rip us off, but we complained immediately, and the waiter was clearly uncomfortable telling us the correct amount. In the end, each of us was charged haphazardly, without any transparency or logic whatsoever. We will never be back! Terrible service, a blatant scam, and unhygienic! My coat still smells of smoke.

The prices are a real bargain. ☆☆☆☆☆ The food was very good and there was plenty on the plate. Highly recommended. A beer garden as it should be, with a dream chestnut tree. What wasn't so convenient was the parking. Best by bike.

A very inconspicuous restaurant on a side street. The food was great, it was plentiful and tasted good. It could have been a bit better, but otherwise it was great. The beer garden was great, clean and really cozy. I can only recommend it.

I had zander two weeks ago, and this Sunday I had cordon bleu. Superb food, ambiance, service, and value for money. I'll be back 👍💪♥️😘💥♥️👍💪😘 Now (July 2025), I meet up with friends for dinner at the Stadtkeller every Sunday.

June 28, 2025: Afternoon, the beer garden was almost completely empty. Disastrous service. The manager and one of his waiters made themselves comfortable at the next table instead of serving us. After about 25 minutes, I left the beer garden without being served. And that wasn't the first time.

We traveled from the U.S. to Munich and took a day trip to Dachau to visit the historical memorial. We’re so glad we chose to eat at this charming little spot—it had a cozy, welcoming feel that made us feel right at home. A kind gentleman, who didn’t even work there, generously helped us translate the menu and was incredibly patient and friendly. We highly recommend the Schnitzel “Wiener Art” with pommes and salad—it was absolutely delicious! The portions were huge, definitely enough to share between two people. A wonderful dining experience all around!

No recommendation The food was terrible. No flavor – the schnitzel was as tough as rubber soles and cold, the ham noodles were bland, and the ham was disgusting. This lovely beer garden under the chestnut trees is perfect for a drink or a chat, but unfortunately, I can't recommend it much more than that... We definitely won't be coming back here again.

The beer garden is nice and large and good in the summer, as it's also shady. The service is very friendly. The food is good, home-style and perfectly fine. The schnitzels are very large and delicious! Parking is a bit difficult. Prices are reasonable. The menu isn't that extensive, but it's fine for a beer garden.

We waited over 50 minutes for our food. After more than 20 minutes, I had to look for a service person to order the food. Other customers who arrived later were even served first. Very bad timing.

Just so average. Sunday lunch with the family. Slow service. Order taken then told 15 minutes later some food not available. 30 minutes gap between the first food and last. I’d save your time and eat at the other restaurants in town.

Even the entrance area of ​​the restaurant wasn't particularly inviting. But since we were hungry, we went in. As we entered, we were met with a fishy smell of old deep fryer grease. But the waitress was very friendly and asked us to move into an adjoining room. The drinks came quickly and the food didn't take long to arrive either. The schnitzels were very large. Salad was nothing special and a bit tasteless. The roast pork was soft and the portion was large. However, in some places the meat had a very strong taste of fish and was apparently already dried out. Unfortunately the dumplings were hard. This meal seemed like it was from the day before and not freshly prepared. Overall, the quality of the food wasn't particularly good and the place doesn't seem like it gets a lot of tourists.

As has been reported here several times, the Viennese style schnitzel here is larger than average (price €15.50 as of September 24). Unfortunately, size alone is not always decisive. Some of my schnitzel was very tough, fibrous and dry. French fries, well. Salad watery. Service tried hard to serve the guests. Since there was only one person in service, increasingly stressed and annoyed. In summer you can sit nicely under the shady trees. No longer up to date: only cash payment, no offer for vegetarians or people who want to give up meat

We were sitting in the garden area after visiting the Dachau Folk Festival. There is enough space with tables to choose from that are sunny or shady. The operator is a Greek. The schnitzels were large and very good quality. Unfortunately the gyro was a bit greasy and tough, so there are deductions. We were served quickly and drinks were brought quickly. The price was ok, although we have to say that the quality didn't quite meet our expectations.

Absolutely catastrophic. The service was slow, we had to wait 1 hour for simple dishes. They were really bad too. Chicken schnitzel like the sole of a shoe, fries cold (no wonder after all this time) and not even salted. Definitely the worst restaurant we've ever been to.

Kleines und einfaches Restaurant mit sehr freundlicher Bedienung in Dachau. Essen sowie Portionen sehr gut und günstig. Menukarte überschaubar, man braucht jedoch nicht mehr. Empfehle das Schnitzel oder Cordon Bleu. Die Portionen äusserst gross und der Geldbeutel bleibt geschont :-)

Typischer bay. Biergarten unter Kastanienbäumen. Super Schweinebraten, immer frisch, solange der Vorrat reicht, mit kl. Salat. Schnitzel prima, groß, mit kl. Salat. Preis ist angemessen und nicht übertrieben.

Als ich kleine Mücken oder sonstige Tiere in meinem Essen bemerkt habe und darauf aufmerksam gemacht habe, wurde es klein geredet und es wurde sich nicht dafür entschuldigt!

Man sitzt sehr hübsch unter großen alten Kastanien, ABER das Essen war leider nicht der Hit. Das Schnitzel super groß (erster wow Effekt) aber teilweise zäh. Der Kartoffelsalat Großhändler Standard Produkt. Der Halsgerät vom Grill völlig überwürzt (Pulver) und die Pommes kalt.

War dieses mal nur auf eine Halbe da hat unheimlichen Durst Gegessen haben wir das letzte mal war auch alles toll Bedienung, Qualität, Preise alles IO.

Läd nicht dazu ein nochmal zu kommen. Es stehen Speisen im Internet, die es nicht auf der Karte gibt. Kellner genervt und unfreundlich, Mayonnaise stand in der Sonne und wurde von Tisch zu Tisch gereicht

Brilliant genuine delicious and absolutely SUPERB service from the Raven haired waitress who I must say have the best service I've had in a long time. Full of older German men who know their schnitzel. And very very good schnitzel it was and reasonable too. Large portion, make sure you are hungry. Thank you Ms waitress whose name I did not get. You were wonderful and made us feel at home.

Gute Portion zu einem günstigen Preis und sehr schmackhaft. Schade nur das der Wirt die Tagessonderaktionen erst kurz nach der Öffnung aufgehängt hat, da hatten wir schon nach Karte bestellt. Da waren sehr gute Sachen dabei.

Wir waren gestern seit langer Zeit wieder einmal da. Wir werden jetzt öfter kommen. Der obazde war selbst gemacht und sehr gut. Ich hatte ein Schnitzel mit Pommes, welches auch sehr gut war und selbstgemacht. Etwas besser das soufflieren vom Schnitzel durchziehen, dann wird es noch besser. Preislich ist es in Ordnung.

Das Essen war schlecht, der Service auch nicht viel besser. In den Schinkennudeln war noch rohes Ei, der „Wurstsalat“ war auch als solcher nicht zu erkennen und die Pommes haben nach nichts geschmeckt. Dafür hat die Apfelschorle nach Spülmittel geschmeckt. Nie wieder!
