Spizz in Leipzig

When you're out and about in downtown Leipzig, Spizz was always a good place to drink a few cocktails or have something small to snack on. However, you really have to realize that the service has really deteriorated recently. You can employ students. But there must be at least a few trained waiters as supervisors. Lately I have NOT received what I ordered in ANY order. Something was missing. Food was cold, just a shame if you're used to better spizz. The bottom line is still good, but it was better. 3.5/5.

We went there for breakfast and it was delicious...

We visited the place on a Thursday evening and sat down. The neighboring table was occupied by a woman, a man and a waitress who were deep in conversation. When we got to our table, we were looked at angrily and had to get up and sit down at another table. An apology from us was ignored. We felt uncomfortable and didn't understand the problem. It turned out that it was the boss who was conducting an employee interview. If you treat your own guests so rudely, you shouldn't be surprised if the guests stay away at some point. Our food was so salty that we couldn't finish it. Should probably make for more drinks. The waitress saved our visit because they were really friendly. Hence three stars. Our conclusion: Personnel interviews do not belong in public, bosses should dress appropriately when they stand behind the counter, sweatpants and sweatshirts are not part of it for me and we will definitely not have another visit.

I can't really give a star for the service. Lots of unqualified students who don't even pay attention to you and just stand there. After 20 minutes without being noticed, I left. Service looks completely different.

No entry without ID card with “address”. You need this there “in case you have to be picked up by ambulance”. No entry into questioning this approach. Absurd.

If there is too much bass, you should pay attention to your drinks on the table... They can crash.

Worst service, rude staff. Some food descriptions on the menu are completely wrong. Also there is no english menu. (At least that's what the waiter said and she rudely demanded us to use google translate.)

Service staff often mix up tables, but are otherwise friendly in their dealings with guests. Food is disproportionate to the price. Pork medallions are like shoe soles. The food was returned without any problems and was re-prepared, but that didn't solve the problem. The meat was again dry and dead and therefore not edible. Conclusion: In the kitchen you should think about preparation methods and make improvements.

We came here for brunch with the whole family and felt comfortable. We were able to stay here for a longer period of time with good food and had a good time. Of course, an all-inclusive meal only pays off for a certain number of people, so we weren't surprised at how popular and full the restaurant was and how you had to wait in line every now and then. Food is regularly replenished and if you have any extra requests you can speak to the friendly staff.

Hello, we were at Spizz Leipzig on September 27th, 2024 with 4 children and 2 adults. It was lunchtime and we were all hungry. We fulfilled the children's wish to sit upstairs. We quickly found a place and ordered drinks and food in the same breath. The waitress was visibly annoyed and not very communicative. The drinks came quickly and we were even more excited about the food. Including 2 portions of fries for the little ones. After about 20 minutes our food came, unfortunately only a portion of fries. We wanted to ask the waitress but after we were the last guests sitting there, the service was no longer there. After a few more minutes the waitress came and asked if everything was okay, then we kindly pointed out that there was still a portion of fries missing. After a few more minutes and the kitchen asked, she said that the fries had to be made again and that the children should share one portion first. Another 10 minutes later the missing portion finally arrived, another waiter put it on the empty neighboring table and after 2 minutes asked if the portion was for us (we were the only guests upstairs) unfortunately our plates, which had already been empty by then, were not served Cleared away and didn't ask for more drinks. Customer service is different. I/We understand that if it is full you have to expect waiting times, but that was not the case. Even after asking to pay, no one asked if everything tasted good, etc. Absolute lack of service. We will avoid the store in the future because Leipzig also has other restaurants that are customer-oriented.

Nice atmosphere, attentive service and a really good potato soup.

Yesterday we spontaneously went to this bar with work colleagues. My colleague and I each ordered a Long Island Icetea, which was not listed on the menu. It felt like there was no alcohol at all in these cocktails, just cola and orange juice, and that for a cocktail that ended up charging €12.50. My colleague had gin and tonic and also said he was very weak. All in all expensive and disappointing.

Super good! They have delicious food... I love fries with cheddar and bacon...

Be ready for the passport control..

The Irish breakfast was delicious, but I was missing two things. But only because I know it differently from Ireland. Otherwise very cool, relaxed service, ambience also beautiful.

On Sunday we went to the “KidsClub” in the Spizzkeller. Basically a great offer for children who can dance to children's music. Food and drinks for children are also offered for a fee. However, the entry price is a disgrace for the offer. 10€ per child and 15€ per adult. This means a small family pays €40 just for entry for 3 hours (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.). I find the price very cheeky considering that ultimately only one room with a DJ is provided. I think for us the first and last time. Too bad

We were at the club that evening and it could have been a good evening. Ambience is good, fast and good service, but the worst DJ in the world. I immediately had a bad feeling about his PornHub shirt, but his performance on the mixing desk exceeded even my low expectations. He really managed to screw up every song.

Heute nur ein Salat mit Hähnchenfleisch. Fleisch war etwas zäh und überwürzt, aber essbar. Gute Portion, aber 08/15. Trotzdem fast 14€. Darlegt man gerne 5€ drauf und bekommt nebenan die Premiumvariante. Personal ist total unterschiedlich. Heute Abend mit der Lady, die lieber quatsch als bedient kein Glück. In der Gastro findet man kaum noch gutes Personal. Das ist mittlerweile fast überall so. Lieber mehr Geld bezahlen und dafür freundliches und gutes Perso bekommen. Dann kann man auch gutes Trinkgeld geben.

Super racist bouncer, didn't let us in because we were ' seemingly auslander'

Bouncer boss with a power complex is included here. The other two securities were nice and friendly, but you could tell pretty clearly who the “boss” was.😀 After we had something to drink at Spizz, we wanted to celebrate a bit in the “nightclub”. Since we used the entrance on Barfußgässchen we had to pass the bouncer. There was an ID check there. None of us were drunk or anything like that and I only had my digital ID with me, which even the police now accept. By the way, it's easy to see that I'm over 18. Wasn't okay with the bouncer. When my friend asked what the reason was for not accepting it, she was called "flaky" and we were sent home by the "head bouncer" without an answer to her question. Nothing other than cash will be accepted at the entrance. Too bad.

Well, once in the Moscow Mule here and once 200 m further on in the Mephisto. Unfortunately, the Kinder Bitter Lemon version was just served here. Unfortunately, cocktails are more of a sales driver here than a passion. Unfortunately the location is pure tourism. Then you can almost understand it. Too bad, too bad.

We easily got a seat by the window inside with a view of the market square. We didn't have to wait long for the waiter to come to us to take our order. We like to enjoy coffee/tea and cake there at irregular intervals.

The operation still needs a bit of practice. Everyone was friendly, but you could tell that they weren't experts. They all seemed a bit unsure and good language skills would be an advantage.

Waiting for just over 45 minutes to pay our bill...never again

It takes the waiters over half an hour to make a mojito, even though the place is half empty. The staff is rude & just stands around chatting instead of cleaning the tables.

The ambience and location is really nice! (We were only there to party) But: The two DJs on both floors were simply unacceptable. The same music played on both floors. Genres were wildly mixed in a different way. We have never experienced such a bad DJ performance. Dear DJs, please stick to one genre of music and don't change songs every 30 seconds, Windows Media Player style.

Disaster!!!! Waitress drunk. She wants to charge you twice for the same drink. (Johana or something like that)

Location is nice, right on the market square. But the staff is terrible.

I don't know why non-Europeans need a passport at the entrance control in front of the club when they obviously have their permanent residence in Germany. For me, the fact that people are regularly sent home and also banned from entering the house can only be attributed to xenophobia. Otherwise the place is actually pretty cool, security men in the club are very present, intervene, listen and are good people. It's borderline at the door. I have the privilege of having German citizenship, others may not, but they deserve just as much to dance to good music. If it weren't for this point, I would give you 5 stars. Maybe see if you can get this under control.

The security was so racist , so he asked for a ID we show it , than he asked for a passport we said that we have it as pdf , but he refused it and asked us to leave . After came two German persons whose also have just an ID as pdf , but they went in :( . That was so racist

It was disappointing, it took 1.5 hours for the food to arrive, the burger bun was burnt, we got ketchup instead of mayo, even though they were informed, we never got mayo. Impossible to get a hold of the waiter, very very arrogant, definitely not getting a recommendation from here

We came here to enjoy alcoholic drinks. Cocktails and Gose are pretty standard, the prices are simply cheeky and exorbitant. Not even 100 meters away you can find cocktails for 7-8€ while here they charge 10-12€, and it also takes a long time to be served, which is unfortunately because of that too few waiters are deployed

The service was very friendly despite being busy. I had the chicken burger with potato wedges and my mother had the salmon with vegetables in curry sauce from the daily menu. My meal was okay, it didn't really blow me away. Still, it was beautifully prepared. It was quite full, but the fact that there was a concert taking place at the market still created an exciting atmosphere.

We sat outside on a Saturday and it was a nice experience. The atmosphere and surroundings are really great and add a lot to the overall mood. Prices were reasonable and the food was OK - not outstanding, but solid. The ambience is definitely Spizz's strongest point, and it definitely makes the visit worthwhile.

I've been coming here for breakfast every now and then for years. Good and solid breakfast, a lot of choice with variations, great coffee with milk and super friendly service and then also the best price, I say. In my opinion, the best value for money for breakfast in the middle of the city on the market. There is seating inside and outside, you can chill out and enjoy the delicious breakfast with friends or family. Thank you for many years of great quality and super good prices.

Food good, atmosphere good, location good. Unfortunately the service is very unfriendly. From the beginning we felt pressured to drink, eat and pay as quickly as possible. When we asked for another napkin, the request was rejected with a curt "no". We still well-intentionedly assumed there was a misunderstanding. But then shortly after eating we were pressured to pay and later realized that the waitress had rounded up the amount herself. When we remained seated after paying, we were advised to leave...

We think it's very nice here. Unfortunately, it's usually completely overcrowded.

Never again! The food was just bad. We were here with a larger group of people. No one raved about their food. I had a gratinated sheep's cheese, which according to the menu is served with a baguette. I then asked if I could get garlic baguette (also listed on the menu) instead of the regular baguette. No problem, for an additional €4.90 (!!!). For €2 it's not an issue at all, but I think it's outrageous to charge almost €5 for the fact that you drizzle a little oil and garlic onto the side baguette (cheapest quality, by the way). The burger buns were toasted to dust, I had a narrow slice of sheep's cheese and even more cold tomatoes on the plate as well as tasteless, cold garlic cloves (at least 11 in number). Instead of salmon (as written on the menu) there was wild salmon. They obviously try to keep everything as cheap to produce as possible (quality probably doesn't matter). The service was only rarely at the table, but then it was friendly and attentive. The location of the restaurant is great, the drinks are okay. But no one from our group will probably come back.

I've been a regular guest in this really nice restaurant in a really exposed location for a long time. Unfortunately, the attention of the service staff drops enormously, even if there are few seats occupied, you won't be served after 15 minutes!

Very nice meeting place to hang out with friends or just have something good to drink. Mostly very crowded, loud and but also pleasant. The service comes a little later than you would expect, but considering the excellent service, this is not a negative point. Very satisfied, would love to come back.

Manchmal ist ein Profit-Maximierer als Koch engagiert. Als Koch war der hier aber eine krasse Fehlbesetzung! Auf dem Bild zu sehen: Strammer Max nachdem ich wegen der wenigen Schinkenwürfel ein Veto eingelegt hatte. Es waren vorher etwa die Hälfte der im Bild zu sehenden Schinkenwürfel auf der Stulle und selbst jetzt ist, wie im Bild zu sehen, etwa die Hälfte der Stulle nicht bedeckt! 😳 Tipp: Finger weg vom Strammen Max in dieser Lokalität! 😡

Unfortunately, a service worker had swastikas tattooed very visibly on his forearm, neck, etc. It doesn't work at all.

Food was OK. Beer 4x under the calibration mark and glass dirty. Service slow but OK. We sat inside and it was very warm without air conditioning. This was not possible from the restaurant and could not be explained properly. Menu not really good. Overall ok, but I would rather go somewhere else next time. The location is unbeatable and the only guarantee for the restaurant.

On the sidelines of a music event on the Leipzig market square, we had a surprising service experience at Spizz with our waitress Katja. Thank you for the outstanding friendliness and attention - simply lived service!

We always like to come here for a drink or two, or a meal. The fried shrimps with garlic etc. are highly recommended. Price-performance ratio is ok. The staff is always friendly.

A beautifully located restaurant in downtown Leipzig, unfortunately with a few shortcomings. Unfortunately, instead of the red fassbrause we ordered, we got another red drink. In addition, two other drinks were no longer available, which can happen but it's a shame. What should not happen, however, is incorrect billing. Instead of a small drink, we paid for a large one, which unfortunately we only noticed afterwards. The service was rather slow for a fairly full restaurant and seemed clumsy at times.

Really lousy food. Nachos were burnt. Pasta was raw and burger was just plain boring with a sad mayo side. Alsot.. it took more than 40 minutes before it was ready. It’s a bar. Don’t eat here.

It was a disappointment. I had made a special reservation so that we (5 people, majority smokers) could sit outside. I also expressed this wish. This was not addressed. The tables were wobbly, we were given a spoon to eat the burger, which was funny but not attentive from the staff. And that continued throughout the evening. We were literally ignored by the staff who kept strolling past us. It couldn't be due to stress. The long wait was written all over the youth's faces. We had to ask for everything on our own. The chicken burgers weren't great either. And then the absolute shocker. The toilets!!!!! Not a single sheet of toilet paper. Paper towels were lying everywhere. The trash can was overflowing... I've never seen that before. We definitely won't leave our money there again.

Wir haben uns in dem Café im Außenbereich niedergelassen, weil man von hier aus schön auf dem Marktplatz schauen konnte. Leider mussten wir uns an einen schmutzigen Tisch setzen, weil kein einziger unbesetzter Tisch abgeräumt war. Überall stand das dreckige Geschirr der Kunden zuvor herum. Wir schoben das alte Geschirr zur Seite und gönnten uns zunächst eine kurze Rast. Nachdem wir 10 Minuten die Karte studierten, aber immer noch keine Bedienung am Tisch war, versuchten wir Blockkontakt aufzunehmen. Uns wurde signalisiert zu warten. Eine Kellnerin kam einige Zeit später an den Tisch um barsch zu fragen, was wir wollten. Einen Cappuccino und Grünen Tee. In der Karte stand etwas von Sommerbeere. Ob das einer grüner Tee sei, fragten wir. Als Antwort kam nur die kuriose Aussage, sie hätte ihn nicht gekostet. Während wir warteten, liefen Bettler mit ihren Bechern zwischen den Tischen hindurch und stellten sich direkt neben einen, bis man die Tasche öffnete, um sein Portemonnaie oder seine Brille einzuräumen, damit sie um Geld betteln konnten. Sehr aufdringlich. Seitens des Restaurants wurde nichts dagegen unternommen. Die Bestellung kam und tatsächlich wurde Cappuccino und Tee gebracht. Früchtetee. Also noch mal die nette Dame darauf hingewiesen, dass wir Grünen Tee möchten. Daraufhin verdrehte sie die Augen, stritt mit uns, dass wir Sommerbeere bestellt haben und lief mit dem noch verpackten Teebeutel wieder los. Das Teewasser wurde bei 29 Grad im Schatten trotzdem kühler. Grünen Tee fand sie dann einige Minuten später und brachte ihn ohne uns anzuschauen. Nachdem wir uns dann eine halbe Stunde lang unseren Getränken gewidmet hatten (nicht, ohne von der Fahrradstaffel der Polizei davon aufmerksam gemacht zu werden, dass wir bitte unsere Taschen nicht direkt auf die Stühle neben uns legen sollten, weil es eine Einladung für Taschendiebe sei, die es hier gibt!) und bezahlen wollten, war von Servicekräften keine Sicht. Ich ging hinein und wollte bezahlen - „geht nur bei Ihrer Bedienung!“ Auf die Aussage, dass diese nicht da sei und wir warteten, wurde diskutiert und die Kellnerin, die uns bedient hatte, fühlte sich nicht angesprochen, erklärte, mich nicht wiederzuerkennen und fragte, an welchem Tisch wir denn säßen. Eine einzige Farce! Mein Geld bin ich trotzdem losgeworden, aber hier das erste und letzte Mal. Wir sind dann gegangen, die Gläser und Tassen unserer Vorgänger an diesem Tisch hatten nun also noch die Gesellschaft unserer Tassen bekommen. Vielleicht werden sie bei den nächsten Gästen abgeräumt... Aber auch nur vielleicht!

We drank the Leipziger Gose and the Leipziger Schnaps Allasch here. Both were ok, the staff seemed to have had an argument or something similar, they were only moderately friendly. It was nice to sit in the barefoot alley, otherwise I see no reason to come back here.

I ate a salad with egg and yogurt dressing. This one was fine and a good size, but it was unspectacular and lacked pizzazz. The bread was warm and crusty. Overall, the menu for snacks is okay. There are some vegetarian or vegan dishes, but overall everything is meat-heavy. We liked the house white wine.

Popped in to try the local Leipzig beer. Waiters kindly pointed out that it can be a bit sour so offered a taster before ordering. Seemed friendly and helpful service. Very happy to sit outside and watch the world go by.

Outrageous drink prices during European Championship games. They are otherwise quite expensive. There's better in the area. We enjoyed being there for years. But not anymore.

Total mix of staff downstairs in the “club”. Unfortunately it only takes one miserable angry-at-life barmaid to ruin an evening. Sound system is really tired as well.

Unfortunately the coffee was cold, but the bee sting was bearable. A nice employee cashed in on the good thing for us.

Even at a European Championship game in Germany, there is no trace of hecticness and the service is absolutely satisfactory. “Public viewing” was made possible for guests on several screens in the outdoor seating area. With a delicious “Gose beer” from Leipzig, the visit is a guarantee of satisfaction.

We drink 40 beers and didn't get anything on the house, even nachos or chips. Bad business policy. Come in Croatia and you'll see what is good hospitality.

The security at the spizz club is professional, they are polite not agressive . There is a nice atmosphere in the club. I always have a good time when I'm there. Drink prices are ok. Music like Rihanna, pitbull, umbrella Ella Ella Ella ee ee ee 😀, for me it could be a bit faster. It can get hot on the dance floor. I can recommend this place.

For the second time here and again very disappointed… Staff very unfriendly and annoyed… that was the last time I'm here and I really can't recommend it… I'm open and honest. People like that should perhaps consider whether this is the right career

Cool bar in the middle of the city. Decent selection of drinks and the menu is also quite extensive (but nothing was eaten). Many opportunities to spend time indoors and outdoors. Nice staff and great ambience inside. Lots of umbrellas outside and lots of space too.

Although it wasn't very full and there were enough staff there, our table was only noticed after 15 minutes. I know a mother with a child doesn't bring in that much, but you still shouldn't have to serve 5 other tables after you. Drinks came quite quickly, but the food didn't. Only after I asked (which was difficult because no one paid any attention to me and when I waved they only said: "Is something wrong?") was the food made. My request to leave out sugar and cinnamon from the rice pudding was only partially granted because I have never had so much sugar in the rice pudding. The few spoonfuls I tried to eat, because I didn't want to leave the food completely untouched (my daughter refuses to eat more after the first spoonful "it doesn't taste good"), made me nauseous. So really not a nice experience.

We were there for breakfast. There was plenty of choice of different breakfast options. Rolls and side dishes were plentiful and good. The service was also very nice.

Delicious falafel punch. Fresh salad, rice, falafel, a tasty sauce. The portion was large. I didn't need to eat anything for hours. Very friendly service. Payment also possible with card. In downtown.

Cake was okay, friendly service and delicious coffee and cappuccino.

A great place, smoking area and disco downstairs. DJ takes some getting used to, otherwise great. Admission until midnight €3, then €5, plus 1 free schnapps Kirsch or Pfeffi. Make a reservation in the bar in advance on weekends!
