Sofra Restaurant in Mainz

We visited Sofra II Restaurant today (May 15, 2025) (2 people and 1 baby). The service was outstanding. The guys are super friendly and very attentive. We especially want to praise the family-friendly staff. Our little Emma (9 months old) didn't want to leave. The food was a clear 10/10! Delicious, hot, and a generous portion. Highly recommended without reservation. We'd love to come back :)

Everything was great, would love to come again

Grilled rice and ayran (store bought) were bad

The rice is dry, they bring it in a glass of ayran, but the box has emptied the ayran, the chickens are uncooked, Adana is very bad. Never again

We tried Izgara Kofte which is made with lamb, with rice, cheese pida and salad in this Turkish restaurant. Authentic delicious Turkish food, tea, good service and moderate atmosphere. Thay are cash only.

Bunch of little Turkish gangsters run this place. Avoid at any cost. Highly not recommended. The food is horrible. The service is even worse. They are scary illegals mostly from Turkey and Afghanistan. They had added 7 euros for tap kitchen water telling us that it came bottle. An absolute lie. Then they took our cell phone unless we pay cash. They claimed they don’t take cards given this is a large restaurant. About 7 Turkish guys surrounded us given we were with two small kids. We didn’t have euros. They threatened and assaulted us. Then they said they would call the police. We said go ahead and call the police. We said go ahead because we knew that we were not doing anything wrong. That’s when they caved in and took U.S. Dollars and let us go. This is not a legitimate business run by bunch of animals. Very dangerous place. AVOID at any cost. There are plenty nice restaurants nearby.

A restaurant that is getting old. If you are in Mainz you can eat well at Sofra. The restaurant could use new furniture. Inventory is not the latest. But it's nice and clean and the waitress welcomes you at the door. Very friendly staff. The food was very tasty, lentil soup and tripe soup as a starter with bread. As a main menu we had Pide with pieces of meat (Kuşbaşı Pide) and salad which was very good and tasty. Afterwards tea is a must in the Turkish restaurant. Toilet was very clean made a good impression. We also had kebab and lahmacun, which were also delicious Conclusion: a good restaurant in Mainz. Would recommend eating there again.

It's a terrible place. I ordered Adan kebab, the first head came uncooked, I ordered it again and it was undercooked again and it was tasteless. Portions are small.

The friend who came to take the order came to take the order with his hand in his mouth, picking his teeth, then he continued to do the same thing inside, looking at our faces. He has zero morality, it's not even a restaurant I will go to again, don't waste your money, I wouldn't recommend it.

Everything is fine, but expensive.

Well the truth is, the experience was not good, I called to order something and they told me it was ready in 10 minutes, I arrived after 15 minutes... the Lord at the door took my order again and I had to wait another 15 minutes. Only pay with Cash. They didn't even ask for an apology or anything. They don't care about me at all. Very standard quality and very high price. €12.59 for Dönner teller, salad or a dresing. And the garlic sauce is terrible. In short, I don't recommend it. Not at all

The waiters came every 2 minutes and asked "Can I take your order", which made me refuse. The food was not hot enough. I ordered Iskender, but I think its name is Iskender. It doesn't look like a sauce or a sauce or anything. I left it all aside. My request to pay with a card was negative on the grounds that the device was defective. When I saw such a thing in the previous comments, I thought it was done on purpose. In short, it was the first and last experience for me.

Unfortunately the staffs behaviour were very unpleasant. Asking more than twice in 5 minutes on our order while we were still reading the menu! They said we can order if we pay in cash! Although we paid around 35 euro, they did not accept card payment. The food was ok but staffs manner were far from acceptable! No tissue! Not very hygiene atmosphere!

We ate here for the first time because we had it in Schlemmerblock. Ordered Adana and chicken skewer. It was very tasty and the waiter was friendly. We will definitely come back.

I want to write a good review. This was my second time in this restaurant. How delicious, what nice staff. I really liked everything. The portion was very large - I had to give it to my husband) Tea 🔥♥️

We made a reservation for a birthday and then we were aggressively and cheekily complained 24/7 that it was too loud, even though we just wanted to sing Happy Birthday. In the end the whole day was ruined. The food was either raw or burnt. The employees were sweating so much that 1. my appetite was spoiled and 2. I could still smell the stench all the way to Berlin. Only one employee was very nice.

The taste was okay. However, the reason I gave it a low rating is because they only accept cash and I was charged about €10 more. I didn't notice this while paying, but I noticed it after I left the venue.

I was there today with my friends to eat something, everyone ordered something different after we all had the food on the table to get started, none of us liked the food, we were all dissatisfied and complained because of that eat no taste no salt no garlic and and........ The drinks were no longer carbonated at all and only tasted like sweet water. The owners can't take criticism either, after so many complaints there wasn't even a small apology, we're sorry, we'll never go there again, that was the first time and the last time, and I won't recommend it to anyone else. That's not even an excuse for being so arrogant.

We ordered via Uber Eats because the restaurant was well rated there. However, we cannot understand the good reviews. The kebab plate with fries was delivered without sauce - cold and dry. We didn't eat it! The pide was small, cold and topped with Gouda and tomatoes instead of soft cheese and pepperoni. The side salad was also without sauce and dry. We definitely won't order again. Just annoying!

Very nice employees. We only had a little time because we were in Mainz on business. The food was on the table within a few minutes. Very tasty 😋 Will definitely come back next time with more time!

I was particularly impressed by the variety of meats - tender grilled lamb, spicy kofta and juicy chicken skewers, all perfectly grilled and aromatic. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, and the side dishes such as the rice and the crispy flatbread were perfectly balanced. The little extras, such as the various sauces and the freshly baked bread, round off the meal wonderfully. You can feel the attention to detail in every bite. Doner meat wasn't grilled for my taste

The sweetest and most genuinely caring people I have ever encountered in a restaurant. We felt very comfortable and the food was very tasty. We come from Freiburg and felt very welcome when we visited the restaurant.

I have been a regular customer for many years. In my opinion the best kebab shop in Mainz. The kebab is juicy, crispy and fresh and the ratio of meat to salad is also perfect. My insider tip as a starter is the delicious chicken soup. I order them every time I visit.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure Turkish yolk is not a dish but a matter of time and history, I will try to reach your restaurant.

The three of us went here for dinner last Saturday. I ordered an Iskender. The plate was beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, after trying it once, I discovered that there was a fly in my food. Because both other people lost their appetite after seeing it and couldn't eat any more, but they still had to pay. Which I find unsuitable after such an incident. I didn't have to pay for my food or drinks. The boss also brought me a dessert as an apology, but I didn't want it. Just a shame.

They didn't want to seat us at a 4 person table because there were only three of us. Instead, they wanted to sit us at a table on the side of the road that had four chairs but was actually intended for two people. Other guests had no problem sitting at 4-person tables even though there were only two of them, but for us it suddenly became a problem. The staff and the manager, who was supposedly the management, were very rude and spoke Turkish poorly. When we complained they didn't even apologize. These supposedly Turkish operators were ruder than rude Germans and far removed from any Turkish culture. May God grant them decency because they completely lack politeness. Restaurantta oturmak isedigimiz 4 kisilik masaya , 3 kisiyiz diye oturtmak isemediler. Yol kenarında 2 kişilik masaya konan 4 sandalyeli yere oturtmak istediler. Diger müşterilere 4 kişilik masalarda oturuken, 2 kişi ptoblem değil de bize gelince mi sorun. Kaba saba Türkçesi kötü personnel and yönetici ya patronun fırcasını yedik. Oturmak istediğimizde özür bile dilemediler. Kaba Almanlardan daha kaba, Türk kültüründen uzak Türk işletmesi . Allah does not need anything, görgü de cabası.

The ambience is quite fine, chic area However, the food wasn't the burner I came from Cologne to break iftar there because I was busy in the area So the kebab plate was bad, a kebab as thin as my credit card, the taste was 1/10 Salad strange aftertaste 2/10 Rice is ok, you can make it 6/10 Fries 7-8/10 Bread was forgotten and the fries arrived 20 minutes late The waiters are okay but unfortunately I'm spoken to in Turkish, but I'm not a Turk but an Albanian and they should change that not only there but in every restaurant just as normal in German and that's fine So with such a good situation I expected more. Don't take the criticism personally but work on it and grow beyond yourself This is an honest and well-intentioned review so make something of it

The kebab was not fully cooked, and they also bring pita bread instead of lavash to accompany the kebab.

I spontaneously went to Sofra with a friend at 10:45 p.m. on a Tuesday after going to the cinema. I was afraid that the kitchen was already closed - but it wasn't. The service was very polite and the lentil soup was also very tasty. The ambience is pleasant with the high armchairs. We shared a starter with eggplant, tomatoes, oil and bread, which also tasted good. If I'm out and about in Mainz again in the evening, I know I can get something to eat there.

A taste experience of Turkish cuisine that you cannot find everywhere in Mainz. Extremely warm welcome and no long waiting times. Recommended!!! If the way to Mainz suggests a visit here, then begin the journey home.

We've been eating here for over 20 years. From the kebab to the daily specials, everything is delicious. The ambience is good and the service is outstanding. Very very friendly staff! 5/5

The restaurant is nicely decorated. There is a good selection of delicious dishes. The underground car park offers parking options. The service is friendly, but could be trained a little better in dealing with customer feedback. My parents and I ordered lahmacun. The dough was ideal, but the topping was lacking. There was more pepper or tomato paste than minced meat on the lahmacun. We gave feedback to the service about possible improvements, but they laughed it away. Unfortunately, for the price of €6, the price-performance ratio is not good.

Went out for a dinner with a colleague and he recommended this restaurant. My colleague did the order and we had a delicious starter with a Borek with salad and a sauce. For the main course we had Iskender Kebap and the whole meal tasted like authentic Turkish food. It’s not easy to find a nice place with good Turkish food but this could be recommended. Will definitely be back for more dinners here next time I am in Mainz.

Sehr gutes Essen und schneller, freundlicher Service. Wir waren zum ersten mal da (auf Empfehlung), kommen aber mit Sicherheit wieder.

Essen schmeckt gut, aber leider sind die Portionen für den Preis sehr klein.

Bestes türkisches Restaurant in Mainz und Umgebung, dass ich kenne! Alle total nett, und alles super lecker. Manchmal bekommt man da einen Tee gratis, was ich sehr wertschätze. Gehe hier regelmäßig abends nach dem Training hin, um mir meinen Döner zu kaufen. Sehr empfehlenswert!
