Sofra Restaurant in Mainz

Wunderbares Restaurant. Familiäre Atmosphäre, authentische Küche, herzlicher und gleichzeitig professioneller Service. Von einfachen bis hin zu traditionellen Hausmannskostgerichten – alles, was ich bisher gegessen habe, war köstlich. Besonders der Iskender Kebab oder ein Dönerteller. Was mir besonders auffällt: Die Inhaber sind präsent und kümmern sich um das Wohlbefinden der Gäste. Und direkt am Fluss gelegen, lädt es zu einem schönen Spaziergang nach einem gelungenen Essen ein – genießen Sie es!

Sehr nette Bedienung. Vor allem "Saç kavurma" war sehr lecker und alles in angemessenen Mengen. Absolut zu empfehlen.

Das war der schlechteste Adana Kebab und die schlechtesten Hähnchenspieße, die ich je gegessen habe. Es gab nur gekauftes Fladenbrot und Kohl; kein Fleisch drin. Ich würde es auf keinen Fall empfehlen.

Am Sonntag waren meine Freundin, zwei Gäste und ich zum Abendessen verabredet. Alles lief gut, aber der Kellner (mit Bart), der den Tee brachte, starrte uns ständig an und lachte meine Freundin aus. Zuerst sagte ich nichts, aber dann kam er zu uns und stellte meiner Freundin eine absurde Frage wie: „Sind Sie aus Afghanistan?“ Und er starrte sie weiter an und grinste. So etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt. Er hat absolut kein Schamgefühl. Meine Freundin und ich waren mit unseren Gästen essen, und er hat keinerlei Anstand oder Ehre. Ich sage euch, esst Fleisch, aber geht bloß nicht mit einer Frau aus. Denn ich zeigte ihm, wie unwohl ich mich fühlte, aber er starrte und lachte mich trotzdem weiter an.

So laienhaft zubereitetes Essen habe ich noch nie gegessen. Wir bestellten einen Grillteller mit Kartoffeln; anstatt dass alles in separaten Behältern serviert wurde, war alles in einem Topf. Die Kartoffeln waren unten in Salatdressing getränkt. Das Fleisch lag obenauf, der Grillgeschmack war eingezogen, und die Kartoffeln waren schwarz angebrannt. Außerdem bestellten wir ein Wokgericht mit Fleisch. Da war kaum Fleisch drin, nur die Haut. Ich werde dort sicher nicht mehr bestellen!

Ich gehe immer wieder sehr gerne hier essen. Preis / Leistung stimmt. Ambiente sehr schön vor allem der Außenbereich. Hier weiß ich das es mir auf jeden Fall schmeckt. Danke. Macht weiter so.

Er wollte mir für meine Tochter kein Plastikbestecks geben was ich bezahlen wollte , hat abgelehnt und nur bei Bestellung. Ein drei jähriges Kind das abzulehnen absolut Unmenschlich und unangebracht

Das Essen war im Allgemeinen sehr gut und geschmacklich zufriedenstellend. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der Kundenservice; die Mitarbeiter waren sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und effizient. Das hat den Besuch noch angenehmer gemacht. Insgesamt war ich zufrieden und würde gerne wiederkommen.

Dönerteller war nicht gut, fleisch wie aufgewärmt und für den preis definitiv zu wenig, das was gut war, war das brot ansonsten nicht zu empfehlen

Die Herrschaften sind nett und zuvorkommend, das Essen war eher weniger das Highlight. Unsere Speisen kamen sehr schnell (7min) und waren warm, aber die Portionen waren nicht mehr als angemessen. Hätte günstiger sein können oder die Portion üppiger. Lahmacun war lecker, Adana war auch ganz gut gewürzt aber der Salat eher fad, die Soße nicht wirklich intensiv im Geschmack und die rote Soße ähnelt geschmacklich pizzasosse. Vielleicht hatten wir etwas zu hohe Erwartungen - es war keine Katastrophe - aber ehrlich gesagt müsste ich hier nicht nochmal essen.

Super freundlicher Service, das Team war sehr aufmerksam und das Essen einwandfrei... ich habe Hühnchenspieß gegessen. Perfekte Portion und sehr lecker. Ich komme definitiv wieder.

Tolles Restaurant! Tolles Personal! Nur einen Kritikpunkt habe ich. Bei meinem letzten Döner zum Mitnehmen, war nur Fleisch und grüner Salat drin mit Soße. Sonst nichts. Keine Tomate, kein Kraut, nichts. Schade. Schmeckt dann etwas fade. Bitte wieder klassisch mit alles 😆

Service sehr aufmerksam, das Ambiente im Sommer ist sehr schön und im Winter ebenfalls drinnen. Das Essen an sich ist ganz ok bis ganz gut aber nicht wirklich etwas besonderes. Die Saucen sind sehr wässrig, schmecken nicht wirklich nach das, was es schmecken sollte. Sprich die Knoblauchsauce wurde sehr wahrscheinlich mit Wasser gepunsht, da es kaum Geschmack nach Knoblauch hat, ebenso auch die Cocktailsauce die sehr wässrig war. Die ‚scharfe‘ Sauce ist eher tomatenlastig statt eine scharfe Sauce und somit gibt es den Gerichten wie Dönerteller oder Grillgerichte nicht den richtigen Kick.

Gutes Essen, leider gibt es keine Möglichkeit mit Karte zu zahlen oder eine Rechnung zu bekommen.

Insgesamt war das Essen gut, aber nichts Besonderes, die Portionen etwas klein.

Wir haben über uber eats dort bestellt. Leider war das Essen kalt und es kam auch noch zudem falsches Essen an. Wir hatten Reis bestellt und haben Pommes bekommen. Die Pommes waren durch die Sauce sehr aufgeweicht. Die Falafel waren hingegen sehr trocken. Ich würde hier nicht nochmal bestellen.

Feine leckere Auswahl an klassischen türkischen Speisen. Personal sehr freundlich und das Essen auch echt gut. Wer sich länger in einem Restaurant mit "gehobeneren Ambiente" aufhalten möchte muss wissen, dass dies eher für eine schnellere Mahlzeit ausgelegt ist :)

Der schlimmste Dönerladen überhaupt! Nachdem ich einen Dürum bestellt hatte – der sich deutlich vom klassischen Döner unterscheidet –, erklärte der türkische Kellner nicht einmal, warum er mich falsch verstanden hatte. Der Döner war vollgestopft mit Salat, das Fleisch war nur ein Belag, und die „Extra-Fleisch“-Kosten beliefen sich auf 9 €. Ganz abgesehen davon, dass er für ein Restaurant in der Nähe eines Hotels und des Rheins einfach nur grauenhaft schmeckte, ist es eine Schande, dass es überhaupt als Restaurant bezeichnet werden darf.

Wir waren am Donnerstag anlässlich des conference League Spieles in Mainz und der Gäste Treffpunkt war dort am Platz. So ein Event, solch eine Kundschaft und was ist? Zu wenige Mitarbeiter, wir haben über eine Std auf einen Döner gewartet, was nicht schlimm wäre wenn jeder gewartet hätte. Der Tisch neben uns hat drei Besucher gewechselt aber wir hatten immer noch nichts gegessen. Dann kam da so eine Kinderportion weil sie nicht mehr Fleisch hatten, extra Fleisch bekam man auf zusätzliche Bestellung auch nicht so wie die ganzen Extras die man wollte mit Zwiebel ohne scharf oder so, alles nicht von Belangen den man hat einfach was bekommen... Fleisch war zu dem nicht richtig durch weil es eben "schnell" gehen musste. Absolut keine Empfehlung

Ich schreibe normalerweise keine Bewertungen, aber heute musste ich einfach eine schreiben, nachdem ich hier einen Adana Durum bestellt hatte. Im Durum war es nur Salat. Ich bereue es zutiefst, dafür Geld ausgegeben zu haben.

Wir waren heute in einer großen Gruppe Geburtstag feiern. Wir wollten alles zusammensitzen und das Team machte es tatsächlich möglich, dass wir so den Geburtstag auch feiern konnten. Außerdem war das Essen schnell da, hat top geschmeckt und auch der Service war sehr gut. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder!!!!

Ich hatte hier ein wunderbares Mittagessen und die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Visa/Mastercard werden nicht akzeptiert, daher sollten ausländische Gäste dies bitte beachten und Bargeld mitnehmen. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr zuvorkommend und verständnisvoll, da ich an einem nahegelegenen Geldautomaten Euro abheben musste. Ein großartiges Restaurant (10/10). Sehr einladend für Alleinreisende.

Super Laden. Eher Restaurant als klassischer Dönerladen. Sehr zu empfehlen. Ambiente leider nicht allzu traditionell. Geht eher in die hässliche neue Dönerladen-Optik (schwarz, grau, weiß, klare Kanten). Aber lässt Euch davon nicht abhalten, geht hin!

Essen wird sehr schön angerichtet, ist von guter Qualität und ein wirklich sehr aufmerksamer Service. Gehen hier sehr gerne hin.

Die Bedienungen sind aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Essen war nicht meins. Hatte einen Falafelteller mit Reis, der Reis war roh. Die Falafeln hatten gar keinen Geschmack . Hatte das Gefühl , Steine liegen mir im Magen. Die Preise stehen im Menü anders , sehr irritierend.

Das ist ein wirklich schönes Restaurant mit hervorragendem Essen und schnellem, freundlichem Service. Ich war mit einer größeren Gruppe dort. Meine Freunde waren von den Fleischgerichten, dem Adana Kebab und den anderen Speisen begeistert. Ich hatte das Tagesgericht, das extra für mich vegetarisch zubereitet wurde, und war ebenfalls sehr zufrieden. Auch die Desserts sind lecker, besonders Katmer. Der Tee hat mir auch sehr gut geschmeckt! Alles, was wir bestellt hatten, wurde recht schnell serviert, und die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich komme gerne wieder!

Die Seelachsgerichte waren sehr lecker. Die Portion des normalen Lachses war großzügig, hätte aber etwas mehr Salz vertragen können. Insgesamt verdient das Restaurant eine gute Bewertung.

We were searching for a dinner on Friday evening and suddenly ended up in this place. Only positive impressions: fantastic authentic Turkish food, fast, friendly, and polite service, pleasant atmosphere. We will return the sure!

Very good restaurant, taste and flavors are there

A beautiful restaurant with comfortable outdoor seating. The food is delicious, especially the Iskender. I tried the vegetable pizza, which was excellent. The tea is good, and the staff are cheerful and respectful.

I've been coming regularly for three years now because the restaurant is very conveniently located near my workplace and hotel. The food is absolutely excellent. The doner kebab and fries are particularly great. The staff are very friendly, and service is very quick. I highly recommend Sofra!

I came here twice in the past two days and the Food is just amazing. The Food is HALAL and delicious. The meat is fresh and juicy. The tea is complementary and their dessert (see picture) is just delicious. I would recommend anyone who is either visiting or living in Mainz to come here. Definitely worth giving it a try.

The doner kebab and mixed grill were terrible! One star goes to the pide, which was the only good thing.

The döner and Adana shish kebab we bought did not taste good at all, the salads were awful in appearance and taste, unfortunately I was disgusted while eating my meal.

It's the only Turkish restaurant in Mainz and has a very nice location. I think they're relying too much on it. There was very little meat on the plate, and the salad wasn't fresh and was over-oiled. As far as I know, meat shouldn't be served on a wooden board for hygiene reasons, but that's what they do here. All the staff were really nice and often asked for feedback and any requests. However, there are no female staff members, which I think should be the case.

The food selection is good. Especially for people who love meat. The three times we were there, they only offered cash.

Nice service – but we wouldn't order Dürüm there again. The flatbread was tough, the meat was okay but not tasty, there was no cheese left, and the sauce just dripped out. What a shame ☹️

Delicious food. 👍 Had a doner kebab plate. It tasted great. The portions were a bit small, but not too expensive.

If you're hungry, go somewhere else. My friend had a mixed grill with everything for 21.50. And I had a kofte for 16 with an additional doner kebab for 3.50. The grill was meager, with only three types of meat. My meatballs were tasty, but the doner kebab was cold and pale, and a measly 70g.

The kebab was okay, but nothing more. I wouldn't eat it again.

We like to go there for a bite to eat because the food is always delicious and reasonably priced.

This isn't the first time I've ordered from there, and I've been disappointed again. Once, the doner kebab had a spiral like a pan cleaner. Now the dough was still raw. This shop used to have really good products, but things are getting worse and worse. Maybe they should just invest in their staff again or close down.

A halal Turkish restaurant with delicious food. May the owners be interested in their work and earn plenty of money, God willing.

The meat on the pide was of poor quality and had a strange taste, and the cheese on top had gone sour and smelled unpleasant. The water was served in open glasses and was very expensive. The atmosphere was unpleasant—the doormat at the entrance was wet and smelled bad. The prices were overpriced for the quality. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We visited Sofra II Restaurant today (May 15, 2025) (2 people and 1 baby). The service was outstanding. The guys are super friendly and very attentive. We especially want to praise the family-friendly staff. Our little Emma (9 months old) didn't want to leave. The food was a clear 10/10! Delicious, hot, and a generous portion. Highly recommended without reservation. We'd love to come back :)

Grilled rice and ayran (store bought) were bad

The rice is dry, they bring it in a glass of ayran, but the box has emptied the ayran, the chickens are uncooked, Adana is very bad. Never again

We tried Izgara Kofte which is made with lamb, with rice, cheese pida and salad in this Turkish restaurant. Authentic delicious Turkish food, tea, good service and moderate atmosphere. Thay are cash only.

Bunch of little Turkish gangsters run this place. Avoid at any cost. Highly not recommended. The food is horrible. The service is even worse. They are scary illegals mostly from Turkey and Afghanistan. They had added 7 euros for tap kitchen water telling us that it came bottle. An absolute lie. Then they took our cell phone unless we pay cash. They claimed they don’t take cards given this is a large restaurant. About 7 Turkish guys surrounded us given we were with two small kids. We didn’t have euros. They threatened and assaulted us. Then they said they would call the police. We said go ahead and call the police. We said go ahead because we knew that we were not doing anything wrong. That’s when they caved in and took U.S. Dollars and let us go. This is not a legitimate business run by bunch of animals. Very dangerous place. AVOID at any cost. There are plenty nice restaurants nearby.

A restaurant that is getting old. If you are in Mainz you can eat well at Sofra. The restaurant could use new furniture. Inventory is not the latest. But it's nice and clean and the waitress welcomes you at the door. Very friendly staff. The food was very tasty, lentil soup and tripe soup as a starter with bread. As a main menu we had Pide with pieces of meat (Kuşbaşı Pide) and salad which was very good and tasty. Afterwards tea is a must in the Turkish restaurant. Toilet was very clean made a good impression. We also had kebab and lahmacun, which were also delicious Conclusion: a good restaurant in Mainz. Would recommend eating there again.

It's a terrible place. I ordered Adan kebab, the first head came uncooked, I ordered it again and it was undercooked again and it was tasteless. Portions are small.

Well the truth is, the experience was not good, I called to order something and they told me it was ready in 10 minutes, I arrived after 15 minutes... the Lord at the door took my order again and I had to wait another 15 minutes. Only pay with Cash. They didn't even ask for an apology or anything. They don't care about me at all. Very standard quality and very high price. €12.59 for Dönner teller, salad or a dresing. And the garlic sauce is terrible. In short, I don't recommend it. Not at all

The waiters came every 2 minutes and asked "Can I take your order", which made me refuse. The food was not hot enough. I ordered Iskender, but I think its name is Iskender. It doesn't look like a sauce or a sauce or anything. I left it all aside. My request to pay with a card was negative on the grounds that the device was defective. Unfortunately the staffs behaviour were very unpleasant. Asking more than twice in 5 minutes on our order while we were still reading the menu! They said we can order if we pay in cash! Although we paid around 35 euro, they did not accept card payment. The food was ok but staffs manner were far from acceptable! No tissue! Not very hygiene atmosphere!

We made a reservation for a birthday and then we were aggressively and cheekily complained 24/7 that it was too loud, even though we just wanted to sing Happy Birthday. In the end the whole day was ruined. The food was either raw or burnt. The employees were sweating so much that 1. my appetite was spoiled and 2. I could still smell the stench all the way to Berlin. Only one employee was very nice.

We were the 4th and were warmly welcomed and served. It was a very pleasant atmosphere with pleasant background music. The food was very, very tasty and very nicely prepared. We recommend it wholeheartedly 😊
