Smash by Hauptstadtburger in Berlin

I just happened to be walking by, it looked like there was some action going on – I thought, why not, a burger is always a good idea. The prices are just about okay, the burger was really tasty, but it didn't exactly blow me away. The team seemed a bit chaotic at first, but the burger still arrived quickly and tasted good. Definitely worth ordering, I'd do it again, but it wasn't my best smash burger ever.

Yesterday was my first time at this restaurant, and I simply wanted to enjoy the truly excellent food, which was delicious and fresh – absolutely no complaints there. Unfortunately, the positive impression was completely ruined by the extremely unfriendly and arrogant manner of the waitress. I immediately felt like I was bothering her. No greeting, no eye contact, just annoyed sighs, as if I were personally responsible for her having to work. The real problem: I ordered fries, a drink, and a main course separately – the exact combination offered as a "meal deal" that's €1 cheaper. This is clearly displayed on the board directly above the counter. The waitress didn't mention the meal deal at all, even though she clearly saw what I ordered. When I politely asked after receiving my food if it wasn't actually the meal deal, all I got was an annoyed "Yes, but you ordered them separately" and a shrug. No correction, no "sorry, I'll quickly lower the price," nothing. It's really not about the one euro; it's about the principle. Especially in a touristy area, you often get the feeling that they deliberately don't point out such small things to visitors because "they'll pay anyway." That's shabby and leaves a really bad taste in your mouth. It's a shame, because the food actually deserved 5 stars. Because of the unbelievable arrogance and this small but brazen trick, I'm only giving it 2 stars, and that's being generous.

Best smashburger in Berlin! Goldies is too expensive, too small, and not unique enough. Others make their own sauerkraut/cabbage variations, but I'm out. For me, no pickle and no overly sweet ketchup (Mc's style), but with chipotle sauce... yum! With extra cheese sauce if I want it extra munchy ;) Deliciously seasoned and caramelized patties; the whole package is great. I hope you don't let up on the quality—once (late at night) the buns were dry. Otherwise, always top-notch!

The taste of the burger was really good,all though I ordered burger and fries,the fries came 10 mins after the burger,super late and didn't even come put them on the table.

There were four of us here, and it was absolutely amazing. Bala gave us excellent advice, and the food was fantastic, ready in just five minutes. Excellent value for money, and what impressed me most were the three employees who gave us a very warm welcome. Thank you so much for a positive experience.

I used to come here often! It’s not as good as Goldie’s of course but it’s convenient and they used to make a pretty good smash burger. Recently they changed their menu so that a classic smash comes with 2 patties and costs a lot more than it used to. I asked if I could have a 1 patty burger and was told this is no longer possible. I said I would pay for the 2 patties but just want one. The answer was still no. I begrudgingly took the “classic” 2 patty burger and sadly couldn’t eat it at all. The ratios are all off now and there’s far too much meat in comparison with everything else. Sadly a good place gone. Never again.

We visited this place yesterday and ordered two burgers – one “Hause” burger and one “double”. Both had an amazing taste, and with just one bite you know you’ll definitely come back! The prices are very reasonable considering the portion sizes. Also, since they grind the meat fresh, all their burgers are basically doubles, which makes them even more satisfying. The staff were extremely friendly, especially the Persian-speaking gentleman who was super kind and welcoming.

Went there Friday night (just before 1 a.m.) – perfect spot for a late snack in Berlin. We each had a cheeseburger: delicious, juicy, a bit greasy – but that's part of the style here. Service was friendly, quick, and absolutely attentive despite the late hour. At €9.50, it's not exactly cheap, but the taste was impressive. Just the thing on a balmy summer night – central location, short wait, and the quality is top-notch. I'd be happy to come back for my next late-night burger. The best fresh double burgers I have eaten. Hamburgers fresh made and the bun is a bun made of potatoes. Really good combination. The chips are standard. I will eat again here.

The classic burger tasted great, and the fries probably would have too, had we gotten them as ordered. The service during our visit was abysmal. Three guys were handling one order at once, constantly interrupting each other. In the end, the customer in front of us had to repeat her order five times (!) and get loud support from us to get even close to what she wanted. She had ordered a burger without onions several times and received... a burger with onions. Our order (burger, fries, and drink) was missing fries. When we then complained about the fries, they very aggressively demanded what we had paid. The amount was far too low, it would have cost more with fries, and we hadn't ordered any fries. They refused to admit that the error lay with the staff and that they had completely messed up orders twice in a row. Instead, the three of them continued to argue about what the customer had done wrong. Bad service. Very, very bad. I've honestly never experienced anything like it. We decided not to eat there.

We went in a group of 3 and ordered there house classic and chicken burgers everything was on point but for me the classic is the best and the animal fries was a solid 9/10. Friendly Staffs nice area and chill music

Rarely has a burger been smashed so perfectly Smash by Hauptstadtburger has succeeded in something few other places do: they've mastered the smash technique. Their burgers aren't just good; they're also so flat and crispy that I doubt it's possible to smash them any thinner. I had the House Cheeseburger, and the staff working there recommended I add fresh jalapeños, which was a stroke of genius. The combination of the juicy patty, the cheese, and the fresh heat from the jalapeños was absolutely perfect. As if that wasn't enough, their Animal Style Fries are on another level. Fantastically delicious and a perfect complement to the burger. I will definitely be coming back here.

9.5 euros for extra small chicken sandwich with a little to no spices and a little bit of coleslaw is a scam

One of the best burgers in Berlin. I had a double cheeseburger with beef bacon jam and jalapenos. Highly recommended and extremely tasty. The patties were well smashed and had the typical crispy edges that are so important when smashing. The bacon jam added a smoky-sweet flavor with extra crunch and went perfectly with the burger. I was surprised by the jalapenos, as they weren't the pickled ones you get everywhere, but fresh ones. This was the first time I've had one like that, and they simply tasted better than the pickled ones. This gives me the impression that they tinker with the ingredients until they achieve the best possible flavor experience. Overall, a strong performance!

Burgers are tasty and greasy and really good, but too overpriced (just my humble opinion). For the size of the food you are getting it is a bit too much.

The food was good. I had a classic cheeseburger with a drink, which I can recommend. But there were four of us, and each of us received our orders about 15 minutes apart. The last person waited 50 minutes for his burger. Plus, there weren't enough seats for us.

Okay, quite tasty and always two patties, but really smashed with a great crust? Sorry, nope! Also, for my taste, a bit too much pepper, and the salt shaker too discreetly. The onions could have been more melted – too hot too quickly… Solid service overall, but unfortunately not a highlight. Friendly and attentive service and Augustiner – at least.

Perfect location, watch the traffic while you eat. The burgers are incredibly delicious and the fries are incredibly crispy. I also really liked that you get mayo and ketchup separately. The prices are completely reasonable.

Solid for a quick burger snack The burgers are okay – nothing special, but definitely fine for a quick snack. The fries were a pleasant surprise, really tasty! The cheese sauce, on the other hand, was rather disappointing – rather bland and could have been improved. The service was neutral – no long conversations, but nothing negative either. The price is just about right for what's on offer. You can do it, but you don't have to.

We ate a cheeseburger here today. The three employees seemed a bit confused but were super friendly and attentive. The burger was delicious. We'll definitely come back during our vacation.

This should be rated at 5 stars all around. Seasoning is on point, meat is smashed just right and the perfectly crisp edges are just the cherry on top. Super friendly staff who were very pleased to see their customers enjoy the creations. A content and satisfied coming backer.

You can tell they're trying hard, but they just don't make these smashburgers well. The patty is way too thick, poorly smashed, gristly, and reminiscent of McDonald's patties. That's actually the only thing that's not good, and yet it ruins almost everything about the burger. The other components are good; the cheese, the pickles, and the overall mouthfeel of the burger would be almost perfect if the patties weren't so bad. Maybe I was unlucky and the cooks accidentally messed up on my burger, but if the patties had been good, I would call this burger a smashburger, and a very, very good one at that. Honestly, if you manage to smash the patties well, you'll have one of the best smashburgers around. (The pictures are of a cold burger and therefore don't look particularly appetizing, but you can see that the patties are not smashed well and really resemble McDonald's/Burger King patties.)

The staff was super friendly, the food was great, and the atmosphere is perfect. I highly recommend the Oklahoma with an extra patty!

A solid but good smash burger. First, shop at KaDeWe and then devour this burger. To feel full, I'd need two burgers or order fries with them. I only tried the cheese smash. But it was juicy and fresh. Simply amazing to bite into. This thing was powerful.

I was here to visit my daughter in Berlin and it was such a pleasure to meet that kind of employee who are so kind. It was the first smash Burger that i ever had and i chose beyond patty. I loved it! Tast of the Beyond patty and patato bread are the best mixture. Definetly a place to revisit 👍😋

We were just passing by this smash burger stand when the smell hit us, and wow, it smelled amazing! Even though we weren’t that hungry, we had to give it a try, and we’re so glad we did. The fries were absolutely delicious, crispy and full of flavor. And the prices? Really, really good! Smash burgers are usually pretty pricey these days, specially in Berlin, but this stand offers a simple, tasty smash burger at a super fair price. I went for the classic cheese smash burger, and for something so simple and affordable, it was surprisingly amazing. The workers were also super friendly and in great spirits, even though it was already late in the evening. They prepared everything quickly, and we ended up with the perfect late-night snack (or mini meal). Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area! :)

I went to have a meal, but I was extremely dissatisfied. The customer who arrived after us received their food earlier, and when we complained, the staff behaved very badly without even apologizing. This completely ruined our experience, and we couldn’t enjoy our meal at all. On top of that, the quality of the food was average.

I used to love going there because it was incredibly tasty. Now only mediocre burgers. Not quite smashing anymore either. Card payments are no longer possible either.

House cheeseburger is damn tasty.

Today was my first time at Hauptstadt Burger Smash (the smash is a matter of opinion) and I was hoping for a delicious salad bowl. But even though hope always dies last, it died very quickly after tasting the cheese sticks. Unfortunately, the bowl consisted of, among other things, lettuce with brown spots, tomatoes that tasted rotten, and a very unique salad dressing. Furthermore, my ordered avocado was forgotten, even though I think I saw it being put in. Perhaps they – understandably – wanted to flee at the sight of this bowl. Because I felt sick for the rest of the day afterward and almost threw up at the mere sight of food. The only positive thing were the free refreshing wipes, which I desperately needed after eating this bowl. Therefore, unfortunately, only one star from me.

We didn't have many expectations, just a quick bite to eat before watching the football. You can eat the burgers, but they are simply too expensive. I ordered Cajuns with my burger. Instead of Cajuns (which are more expensive than fries), I got regular fries. The seller ignored my advice and gave me a small dollop of some sauce that didn't taste good. Of course it doesn't work that way. Once and never again.

Saddest burger ever. For €7 you got a flabby roll from the bag, a good patty and some steamed onions. Afterwards I went to Burgermeister and got a real burger there.
