SHOYA am Viktualienmarkt in München

Shoya - a very inconspicuous restaurant on the Viktualienmarkt. But the first impression is deceptive: excellent food! Large portions, wide variety of dishes, wonderful sushi. One point is deducted because the salad that came with the main courses was not marinated at all. In addition, the agedashi tofu tasted somehow like Schöberl soup. Nevertheless: very nice service! You don't have to wait long for the food either. Although the small restaurant is nicely decorated, it is a bit cramped and the mainstream music that is played doesn't match the Japanese food. What's very good is that you can take your dog into the restaurant. So overall 4 stars. Highly recommended!

Worst ramen I've ever tried. Fantasy broth. Weird noodles. Unfortunately not a restaurant run by Japanese, but by Vietnamese. Apparently new owners, old reputation. Too bad 😖

I met Shoya at the Japan Festival a few years ago and fell in love immediately: authentic, friendly, inexpensive. That has changed in recent years, which is why I am adjusting my review back then. The owners are no longer Japanese (see imprint on the website if the owner wants to deny this fact again). Unfortunately, you can taste and feel the change of ownership everywhere. I recommend Takumi or Sansaro instead.

Very friendly staff. Tonkotsu Ramen tastes interesting, unfortunately I can't say anything about authenticity, it's beyond my competence. There is definitely no coconut milk in it. Unfortunately I have to agree with previous reviews and criticize the thin slice of pork. Too little for the price. But we enjoyed it.

New rating: Getting worse and worse. Tonkotsu with probably coconut milk (at least it tastes a lot like it and has the same consistency), meat became less and less and now there is only one slice in it and it is almost as thin as bacon. No nutritional value, nothing. Completely unnecessary. Never again. Old rating: Food great! Ramen is simply great! Gyoza were also very tasty. But I would highly recommend the restaurant, especially because of the ramen. This is very authentic and finely balanced in terms of taste. Unfortunately, good ramen is often too greasy, but that works perfectly here too. Service was very friendly and quick, we felt very comfortable :)

Really nice food for fair prices!

We got sushi and chicken teriyaki. We liked all of the food but it wasn’t the best sushi we’ve ever had. Would definitely come back for a casual meal. Service was great our servers were very nice.

The food was delicious, especially the crunchy rolls were great and really cheap. In my opinion, the ambience is not that inviting, but you can overlook that.

The food was good but nothing special - solid but not a revelation, and a bit pricey for what was offered. The process went smoothly and everything came to the table quickly. Unfortunately the service was only mediocre. The service wasn't particularly attentive or friendly. Despite the decent food and the quick process, the experience is marred by the mediocre service. For the price you could expect a little more, especially in terms of service.

The katsudon was delicious! I will be back for sure to try the sushi options

Very tasty Asian restaurant with a large selection.

I recently went to this restaurant with my girlfriend and was unfortunately very disappointed. The curry I was served had absolutely nothing to do with Japanese curry. It was tasteless and more reminiscent of a cheap ready meal. The curry sauce seemed to be thickened with something, probably flour, and therefore just looked pale brown. However, the sushi was particularly disappointing. The piece of salmon in the sushi was so small it was almost laughable. I really expected more, especially given the prices. If you're honest, even one star would be too much because the food was just bad. It's a shame, but I definitely won't be coming back.

I've been here several years ago and the meal was tasty. Just visited here recently but the menu changed a lot. The Katsu Don is not a typical Katsu Don anymore. It's more like a Japanese-like Asia Imbiss instead of an authentic Japanese restaurant. But the staff is friendly. 料理變得不正宗，可惜。

Had the Tonkotsu Miso Ramen. The broth was very tasty. Service was fast and efficient. Portion size is good for the price.

Good sushi for a fair price in the heart of Munich! I had the crunchy salmon roll, and it was well presented and tasted nice and fresh. The staff wasn't the friendliest, but at least fast and efficient.

The food is very good! I have tried many ramen shops and SHOYA is definitely one of my favorites. I've been looking for a good ramen restaurant in Munich for a long time and I'm thrilled with SHOYA! The ambience is still very small and a bit uncomfortable. Still, it's definitely worth it for the good food! Only recommended!!

Cozy place with great ambience and flair. Good to take a short break. The employees were very nice and the food was delicious. There were two of us and we had Katsu Curry and Ramen. All I can say about the curry is that it was very tasty and filling. My ramen was delicious, the broth was just *Chef's Kiss", the ramen itself was so good to eat, it was nice and warm, flavorful, and filling. We'll be back if we have the chance.

Miserable service, you don't bring the food you order, you sit in an ugly, worn-out side room

It's a Japanese chain, so it's got a lot of good options but nothing amazing. Ramen was OK. Sushi was great.

We ordered a udon, a ramen, a sashimi plate and some tap water in this restaurant a couple days ago. The young male manager charged us 7.5Euro for a bottle of water. We queried that's only tap water but the young man insisted that's bottle water. Obviously the glass bottle was a re-used one filled with tap water. Just a reminder to you, make it clear to the staff if you want tap water, and if you want a quality bottle water please do check the bottle and see if it's reused.

Not for vegetarians! I ordered a vegetarian meal for lunch and mistakenly received another meal with meat. When I pointed out the error to the waitress, my plate was removed without a word and without an apology and a new plate was put in front of me after a remarkably short time. When I started to eat, I noticed that the only thing the kitchen had done was remove the meat from the top of my plate and that there were still pieces of meat in my food between the noodles. When I told the waitress this in horror, my plate was cleared without an apology (!) and the vegetarian dish I ordered was brought to me after 15 minutes. Even when I paid, no one apologized to me. Definitely not recommended for vegetarians!

Cheap, tasty and freshly prepared My favorite Asian

It was very tasty and inexpensive, there were good vegetarian dishes, unfortunately only a few (as to be expected from an authentic Japan-oriented restaurant, so unfortunately I didn't eat any ramen, but they were very good for meat eaters. Plenty of portions and nice service.

I first tried their Tonkotsu Ramen which is highly recommended for cold days. We keep coming back for their sushi esp the crunchy rolls which are good quality with good pay. Rice menu are to try too especially their Oyako Don.

What a discovery of a place, how good, the service was super cool, even though they didn't speak English, they went to look for a guy who did speak it, they made us feel comfortable and the sushi is an absolute success, GREAT and the ramen... which I can say about the ramen… DELICIOUS!!!

Die Suppe war zu mild und die Nudeln waren zu weich. Die Bedienung versteht kaum Deutsch. Leider nicht zu empfehlen. I visited on a Sunday around 2:30pm. The soup was too thin, so I asked the staff to add some sashimi, but I couldn't understand the language (German). The noodles were also overcooked and had no texture at all and were not tasty. It's a shame because I was looking forward to it. I think I'll go to another restaurant next time.

We were expecting to be seated at the backside with comfortable and available tables. yet because we were two guys, we were seated at a squeezed side table at the entrance. It was really rude and obvious. The taste of the food was ok, the rolls were delicious but the curry was really really average. The design is not traditional.

We ordered delivery via Wolt from Shoya am Viktualienmarket and indulged in the delightful flavors of Tropical Rolls, Alaska Rolls, and Spider Rolls. Each bite was a burst of exquisite taste – highly recommended!

Preislich fair und gute Ramen. Es waren jedoch zu viele Nudeln und zu wenig toppings, was mir bis jetzt noch nie passiert ist. Hier wird man aufjedenfall satt. 3,7⭐️

super lecker, etwas verplante Bedienung, aber kann man bei der Menge an Leuten die präsent waren wirklich nachvollziehen + wir haben eine Cola als Entschädigung für die Verplanung unserer Bestellung erhalten. Als das Essen dann da war, hat es fantastisch geschmeckt! Gerne wieder!

Ramen war okay. Allerdings waren die Nudeln im Vergleich nicht wie selbstgemachte, die Brühe nicht ganz so reichhaltig und die Suppeneinlage dünn. Mit mehr Liebe ist hier mehr drin.

Kleines authentisches Restaurant mit leckerem Essen und freundlichem Personal. Das Essen kam schnell und war wirklich gut. Leider sind die Toiletten nicht so sauber.

Ich bin bis jetzt schon mehrmals hier gewesen und habe verschiedenste Ramen, Dons, Sushi und andere Speisen probiert, aber wurde bis jetzt nicht einmal enttäuscht. Das Restaurant ist klein und schön eingerichtet also auch nicht zu voll. Der Service ist sehr nett und schnell und das Essen war immer super. Ich kann das Katsu Curry und die Tonkotsu Ramen nur empfehlen. Ich werde auf jeden Fall weiterhin wieder kommen.

Das Ramen ist leider sehr geschmacksneutral. Mein Tonkotsu war überhaupt nicht authentisch. Aus Japan bin ich da einen kräftigen Schweine-Umami Geschmack gewöhnt. Das war hier nur eine milde Suppe mit etwas Fleisch drauf. Leider enttäuschend.

Good quantities for the price you pay. We went there as a big group and we are not too happy with the service. We had to often ask/ remind the waiters to bring the remaining food from the same order. Overall, the food tastes alright, it is nothing special. In the end we still paid nearly 20€ / each (main course, drink, starter) and could have a better quality meal elsewhere with the same price.

Das Essen war Klasse! Die Gyosa waren ein Gedicht! Die Hauptgerichte waren sehr authentisch und die Portionen waren auch Recht groß! Service war schnell und sehr freundlich. Es wurde zu der Zeit als ich da war, sogar jemand neues eingelernt und das sehr liebevoll! Man hat der Dame alles erklärt, auch noch am Tisch. Pluspunkt dafür! Leider war das Ambiente draußen nicht so schön, aber, es ist nun mal direkt an einer Straße und an dem Abend war wohl auch viel los und man konnte sich so nicht gut Unterhalten, da es so laut war! Leider ist mir drinnen oft zu warm, weshalb ich lieber im Freien esse. Alles in allem ist das Restaurant empfehlenswert, man sollte sich nur generell lieber rein setzen!

Wir waren dort auf Anraten von unserem Sohn. Der kleine Laden sieht sehr unscheinbar, jedoch ist eine wahre Explosion an Geschmack. Das Essen ist unglaublich lecker, frisch und große Auswahl an verschiedenen japanischen Spezialitäten. Die Bedienung freundlich, ruhig und entspannt. Obwohl der kleine Laden voll war, hat alles sehr schnell und unkompliziert geklappt. Wir waren sehr nett überrascht und kommen bestimmt wieder. Der Standort am Viktualienmarkt ist auch von Vorteil, da gut und schnell erreichbar.

Sehr kleines, unpersönliches Lokal. Bedienung versteht nichts, kein Deutsch, kein Englisch nur Zeichensprache. Bestellung vergessen, beim Nachbartisch plötzlich alles schneller gebracht worden. Ramen waren eigentlich ganz okay, suhsi war lecker sowie die Vorspeisen. Wir hatten jedoch wirklich mit Krämpfen im Bauch zu kämpfen. Gehen nicht mehr hin. Schlechter Service. Wenig Plätze.

Japanisches Restaurant, sehr klein, aber fein! Gute Qualität, vor allem Sushi, sehr nette Bedienung, innen etwas beengt, draußen an der Straße ist es in Zeiten geringeren Straßenverkehrs auch ganz schön. Positiver Gesamteindruck, mehrfach bestätigt.

Noodles are too soft, eggs overcooked, pork is too fat. Not recommended for Ramen. Environment is good.

Had a craving for Japanese food while staying in Munich and this place hit the spot. Sushi was alright, the udon was good. Service was really fast. Prices were reasonable.

Ein netter kleiner Laden mit gutem Essen, vor allem die Ramen sind lecker.

Bestenfalls mittelmäßige Ramen, bei denen im Gegensatz zur Information auf der Karte auch noch Ei, Sojabohnensprossen und Lauchzwiebeln gefehlt haben. Meine Nachfrage nach den fehlenden Zutaten wurde nur mit einem "Alles klar" w quittiert. Dann ließ man mich bis zum zahlen noch mal 10 Minuten warten. Das Karaage war alles andere als knusprig... Mein Tipp : gehen Sie in ein anderes Restaurant!

First time eating here. Had the tempura udon and the oyako don. Both were delicious. We ate on a rainy Saturday lunch time and the place was packed. Friendly service and you can order for take away too.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Samstagabend im SHOYA, nahe des Münchener Viktualienmarktes. Trotz unserer spontanen Entscheidung und ohne Reservierung, wurden wir mit offenen Armen empfangen und bekamen einen gemütlichen Tisch. Das Ambiente ist authentisch asiatisch mit dezenter Hintergrundmusik, was uns sehr gut gefallen hat. Das Restaurant gehört zu einer Kette und ist überschaubar groß, dennoch empfehle ich eine Reservierung, wenn man zu Stoßzeiten essen gehen möchte. Die Qualität des Essens hat uns absolut überzeugt! Unsere Vorspeisen, die Edamame und Gyoza Suppe, waren ein geschmacklicher Volltreffer. Die Hauptgerichte, die Shoya Big Roll und der Tuna Don (Bowl), setzten dem ganzen die Krone auf. Die Big Roll war zwar für Personen mit kleinem Mund eine Herausforderung, aber das hat den Genuss in keiner Weise gemindert. Leider gab es beim Service ein paar kleine Pannen. Wir mussten öfter nachfragen, da nicht alle unsere Bestellungen korrekt aufgenommen wurden. Zudem wurde unser bestelltes Getränk, Colpico, vergessen und als wir nachfragten, hieß es, es sei aus. Nicht das Ende der Welt, aber hier könnte der Kundenservice noch etwas verbessert werden. Insgesamt war es ein sehr gelungener Abend und ein toller Abschluss unseres Tages in der Münchener Innenstadt. Wir freuen uns darauf, wiederzukommen und weitere Gerichte zu probieren! SHOYA hat definitiv einen positiven Eindruck hinterlassen.

Ich hatte die Karamiso Ramen. Geschmacklich wirklich eine Besonderheit! Das Chasu Fleisch könnte etwas intensiver/salziger sein, aber sonst eine meiner Lieblings Ramen in Deutschland. Preis Leistung ist unschlagbar gut!

On surface it looks Japanese restaurant. But quality is not good,also bit pricey. As a Japanese you can find better places in Munich
