Shawarma Marina in Hamburg

Some of the staff are disrespectful to customers, especially the new ones. The older staff are fine. I personally had a problem on New Year's Eve around 6:30 PM, and I'll never go back to that restaurant, neither me nor my family. I have a family group of 80 people, and I told everyone not to go so they'd learn to respect customers. Even though the owner is a friend of ours and a respectable person, he's left his business in the hands of some people who don't know how to run the place, unfortunately.

Delivery via Uber Eats was a disaster! I strongly advise against it! I waited almost two hours, only to receive a cancellation, even though the driver's map showed he was about to pick up the order from the store. If you know you can't make the delivery, you should simply inform the customer.

The food is very bad and not recommended because it looks old and stale, and it's very expensive. You have to get up and serve yourself, even though you paid 19% in taxes supposedly for luxury, and we didn't see any luxury at all. I absolutely do not recommend it.

The restaurant was not clean at all. The food was very bad, not fresh, and obviously old. For this quality, the bill was far too expensive and completely unjustified. I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I visited Marina once in Wandsbek and once near Steindamm. The food is really delicious. But here's the BIG issue: if you can afford to open four cafes or restaurants in Hamburg, then hygiene and the ambiance of the restaurant must be taken into account. It's absolutely disgusting to visit such a restaurant. Even my five-year-old noticed that everything was very dirty (greasy tables and floor, no paper towels in the restrooms, broken chairs, and no glasses) and not at all pleasant. A heartfelt plea to the owner to please address this.

It deserves three stars. There are some issues with the food, but overall the restaurant is good. The bathrooms are very clean, the food is acceptable, and the prices are good compared to Al-Amira Al-Dimashqi. I've experienced bad food and high prices at Al-Amira Al-Dimashqi on several occasions. It wasn't worth it. I recommend Marina for the Hamburg area. If you want good food that isn't expensive, you can choose Marina.

The staff are friendly, the food is good, but half the orders are wrong. For example, if you order charcoal-grilled chicken, they give you gas-grilled chicken. If you order shawarma with molasses, they put a dip instead of molasses.

Honestly, the restaurant is good and the food is tasty. They work cleanly and serve orders quickly, but the problem is that they put too much salt in the shawarma, which sometimes makes it taste a bit heavy. Even so, the place is acceptable and worth visiting if they reduced the salt a little.

My friend and I came for dinner and ordered a shawarma plate and a lamb plate 😋. It took about 10-15 minutes. The wait time is normal; everything has to be freshly prepared. The food tastes delicious. 😘 Thanks so much to the team! 😉 I hope to come back to Hamburg soon; I'll definitely want to eat here again. Highly recommended!

The shawarma is great, but the grilled chicken is all black, and the waiter is clueless. One minute he's saying the chicken turns black when cut, and the next he's saying the chicken intestines are in there.

I'm not from Hamburg and this is my first time here. I stumbled upon this place by chance. The shawarma was really quick to prepare, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Next time I'm in Hamburg, I'll definitely eat here again!

Oh man, I saw one of the waiters scratch his crotch and then immediately grab the shawarma, place it on the plate, and bring it to the customer. The shawarma itself was still okay, though.

The shawarma tastes delicious, and the shakes look delicious and indulgent. Great idea! I think the shake bar, with its tropical flair, was very well thought out. Update September 2025: Another delicious shawarma. Everything was perfect.

We were in Hamburg for a weekend, and friends recommended we have a shawarma here. We weren't disappointed; we've never had such a delicious shawarma before. All the ingredients are fresh, and the flatbread is nice and crispy. The restaurant is very centrally located and there's plenty of seating. Unfortunately, it was very noisy during our visit.

I ate there today, and the place seemed very strange because I noticed a strange smell right from the start. However, I ordered a shawarma anyway. When a good friend of mine dropped some water on the floor, the cashier rudely yelled at him. We then had to wait about 20-25 minutes for three shawarmas, only for the meat and the shawarma in general to end up being way too sour. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend eating there to anyone. 😔

I was there yesterday and got a shawarma. The meat didn't taste good at all and the pickles were very sour. Everything was wrong. The shop also smelled really funny and the employee was very unfriendly. I had to wait almost 25 minutes for my shawarma. That's an absolute no-go. Never again. 😔

This was the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The food was terrible, especially the kebab plates, which were so small and tasted like cow fat, not kebab. Also, the crispy chicken was so badly made. It's a shame, actually, because it wasn't like that when it first opened. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I bought a shawarma sandwich full of black pepper, not ground, or I don't know exactly what the black stuff that comes out of the sandwich in addition to the cardamom. My wife and I visited Marina Shawarma today around 11:00 AM, hoping for a good alternative since our usual favorite shawarma place was closed. We placed our order, which, surprisingly, was more expensive than what we usually pay at our regular, more popular shawarma place. After paying, I asked if we could sit in the upstairs family lounge, but the staff refused and told us to sit elsewhere without any explanation. When the food was brought to our table, nothing else was provided—not even basic condiments. I had to go up and ask, only to be told curtly that it was not their responsibility and that I should take the items myself. So, I only took the salt and pepper shakers, which we didn't use at all. The attitude was unprofessional and dismissive. As for the food—it simply didn’t live up to expectations. The shawarma was mediocre and lacked the flavor and freshness we're used to. Combined with the poor service and unclean surroundings, the overall experience felt rushed and uncomfortable. This was our first time at Marina Shawarma, and sadly, it may also be our last. There is a lot of room for improvement—cleanliness, staff attitude, and food quality all need serious attention.

The food was cold, the sauce had no taste, the broasted chicken was also cold, and the salad was dry because it was put on plates a while ago and was dry and inedible.

Maybe this used to be Hamburg's best shawarma, but those days are over. With the shawarma plate, the chicken comes rolled up in bread - contrary to the pictures on the menu. This is of course cheaper for the owner. The garlic sauce has the consistency and appearance of paint. Unfortunately that was nothing.

I've never seen such a dirty gastro toilet with dead cockroaches on the floor. The floor was soaked with urine, disgusting! Was there for the first and last time!

Atmosphere: It was loud and there wasn't much space and there was a lot going on (lots of children and babies) —> 0 stars from my point of view 2.) Worst Shawarma in HH! I've eaten here for the second time now. I thought it was a one-off problem the first time, but my bad experience was repeated today. The food is anything but fresh. Unfortunately, stale bread, sour meat and the sauce didn't work at all. Unfortunately the food went in the trash... But kibbeh were quite ok. However, I had to wait over 60 minutes for my food...

Unfortunately, that was the worst shawarma dürüm I've eaten today! The flatbread was old and sticky, even though it was freshly made, the chicken tasted cold and dry. The cucumbers didn't taste good either. The ambience seemed dark and uncomfortable, there was a strong smell of frying oil. It was surprisingly empty for lunchtime. It's a shame, there was much better food at Marina in Wandsbek. The service was friendly at least.
