You can't get in here but we were in because we pre-ordered. I think there is all the information in there that will convince you to have a nice time here.

A really great, rustically furnished restaurant. Super friendly staff. The food was excellent. Rarely eaten so well. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant is always busy. We'll definitely be back.

Successful surprise! Located somewhat out of the way and not visible from the outside, we had one of the best family meals here. The furnishings are reminiscent of an Alpine hut and are particularly atmospheric in autumn/winter. The menu has something to offer for everyone. Prices are fair, the food was consistently very good and not overpriced. Competent service - thank you and gladly again.

We got a table at short notice without booking in advance, thank you for that. We have been to the Kaminstube several times and are always thrilled. The staff is always very friendly, the kitchen team knows their job. Price/performance more than justified. And the ambience (beautifully rustic) is impressive anyway, exactly our thing. We can recommend this restaurant 100% with a clear conscience.

A very quaint and cozy restaurant. Very inconspicuous from the outside. But inside it's crazy. Furnished with attention to detail. But the staff and the food are also very, very good. But you can't get anything there without a reservation. There is also a nice outdoor area in summer. Always worth a recommendation.

It's stupid and incorrect to write that the restaurant closes at 10pm when at 8.05pm I'm told that the kitchen is closed when many people inside had just brought their dishes... maybe racism?

On our way back from Berlin, we searched Google Maps for a nearby restaurant with a good rating and found the schortentsler Kaminstube. On the way there, we thought we had taken the wrong route because it took us out of town to the sports field. Well, we were hungry and went in. We were amazed at the coziness of the restaurant on a sports field, we didn't expect that. The waitresses were all very friendly. The food we had, a grill plate and salmon with pasta, was very tasty. I think we will definitely stop there again when we go to Berlin or come back.

Yesterday I had an opportunity to join family and friends at this wonderful hideaway restaurant. Walking up initially you wouldn't even know there's a restaurant there because it's hidden behind soccer Fields. The atmospheric restaurants very Viking asked with a lot of wooden structures hand carved wood furniture, and mounted animals. It's just a true step back into the past. The menu is full of local favorites and wild game. I highly recommend if you are ever going through this part of Germany to schedule time to stop and enjoy all that this little spot has to offer.

Good food and rustic atmosphere, especially in winter. Air conditioning would be nice in midsummer. Otherwise we really liked it.

Our first visit to the Schortentaler Kaminstube was very nice. We sat inside and the ambience is really great. I can imagine that it comes across even more in the winter time. As a starter we had the bread sticks with a really tasty garlic cheese sauce. For the main course we had the pork schnitzel au four. Since we come from Hesse, neither of us knew the dish. But it tasted incredibly good.

You can enjoy good, sumptuous food in a very rustic restaurant with good service. You should find out about the prices before visiting and possibly place an order in advance.

We had dinner with 12 people in the Schortentaler Kaminstube on a Saturday evening. The food was very good and the price/performance ratio was also good. Unfortunately, the complete menu that can be seen on the homepage does not appear to be available at the moment. The service staff was friendly and came to the table several times to ask if everything was OK or if we still wanted to order drinks. This wasn't our first visit to the Schortentaler Kaminstube and one thing is clear: it definitely won't be the last time either. We'd love to come back. Thank you again for the great evening! Unfortunately, this restaurant cannot be judged because, according to the waitress, it will now close at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday even though they are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m

Wir waren heute am Sonntag, 28.7.24 gegen 18.00 Uhr da, extra angereist. Die Gaststätte hat geschlossen!! Trotz Öffnungszeit von 11-22 Uhr! Sehr ärgerlich! Kein Schild dran und der Anrufbeantworter sagt uns, dass grad alle Mitarbeiter beschäftigt sind! Das ist echt doch Mist! Abend versaut!

Wir haben auf der Internetseite nach den Öffnungszeiten geschaut und da stand Sonntag bis 22 Uhr geöffnet. Wir hatten uns kurz entschlossen am 28.07.2024 um 18 Uhr zu Abend zu essen. Leiter standen wir vor verschlossen Türen. Kein Hinweis warum geschlossen war. Hatten auch im Vorfeld versucht anzurufen und da meldet sich nur der AB mit der Ansage das im Moment alle beschäftigt sind. Schade, uns hat es immer gefallen, aber nun hat es einen kleinen Beigeschmack.

We came from Gera and Jena and unfortunately didn't get a place, even though there was still a lot available. They didn't even want to serve us a solyanka and that certainly wouldn't have taken much effort. We were sent away unkindly. Service and friendliness is unfortunately typical for Germany. If you want to be served there, you should definitely make a reservation. Also on weekdays.

The three of us were once again in Schortental for dinner, what can I say, you can't be more disappointed like it happened to us, the quality of the food fell from 10 to 3 points. For example, schnitzel from the packaging and not breaded myself, wrap dumplings also from the ready-made package and a sauce that was just a solid flour mixture, my favorite meal was ribbon noodles with fried salmon was the crowning glory, warm noodles mixed with flour sauce and then the salmon: toder went it doesn't. I'm really very sorry to have to give such a review. We usually enjoyed eating there because it was always delicious. Service was excellent as always, nice and accommodating, thank you for that.

The service was overwhelmed with a group of 15 people and not very cooperative regarding children's meals. Very unfortunate. We know it differently. The food was delicious, could have been a little more.

It’s a shame we couldn’t try this place out. It closes at 2pm, we arrive at 1pm and they said kitchen was already closed. Unbelievable

Wir hatten im Februar 2024 Plätze für eine Silberhochzeitfeier im September 2024 reserviert. Wegen Tortenabsprache waren wir im Juli in den Kaminstuben. Weil wir 11 Personen sind und keine 10 Personen sollten wir eine sehr reduzierte Speisekarte zum Mittagessen vorgelegt bekommen. Am Ende des Gespräches bekamen wir so nebenbei mitgeteilt, das wir um 12. 00 Uhr Mittagessen aber schon um 14.00 Uhr Kaffeetrinken sollten, weil die Gaststätte am Sonntag um 15.00 Uhr schließt. Dies war im Februar nicht so ausgemacht. Wir würden dann um 15.00 Uhr mit der ganzen Gesellschaft auf der Straße stehen. Es wäre schön gewesen, wenn wir über diese Änderungen telefonisch informiert worden wären. Die geänderten Öffnungszeiten stehen nirgendwo, obwohl sie schon seit 3 Wochen existieren. Wir sind darüber sehr verärgert und werden diese Gaststätte nicht weiter empfehlen.

We would have liked to have had dinner here and specifically drove off the highway. Although the opening hours for Sunday are stated until 10 p.m., the restaurant was closed. No information on the website, 3 calls were unsuccessful. The answering machine explained to us that they didn't have time to answer the phone because they were concerned about the well-being of the guests. An absolute no go, shot 20 KM into the wind!

Company outing, highly recommended with several people (170), staff very friendly... Getting there is also ideal for wheelchair users.

Drove off the autobahn just for this place. The restaurant was completely empty but when we asked the waiter he unkindly said there was no seat. Fun with stuffed unicorns.

Unfortunately we can't say anything about the food, I discovered it on Google on the way home on Sunday. Made an extra 30 minute detour. No chance, nothing works without a reservation. Not even outside. This was communicated unkindly. We could come back in half an hour, but you can't promise us anything. Half of the places were free. There is no service outside. If it is due to a lack of staff, please let us know openly, honestly and in a friendly manner. We understand that. Not like that, however. A real shame. It was supposed to round off our last evening of vacation.

We drove about 40 km here based on a recommendation and had correspondingly high expectations. These were more than fulfilled. Don't let the surroundings - right next to the Eisenberg sports field - put you off. The atmosphere is very nice, you immediately feel at home. The service is very pleasant and the food is the best Thuringian cuisine with a focus on game dishes, but you can also find other delicious dishes on the menu. We were definitely not there for the last time.

I was looking forward to a salad with feta. On site we were rudely told that there was only a shortened menu for larger groups. In this case without lettuce or asparagus. Unfortunately there was no way in either. Really great for vegetarians. Perhaps this should also be told when making reservations for a group. Very sad and completely incomprehensible ☹️ Looking at the map online beforehand is therefore pointless. Next time we will celebrate somewhere else.

It was our first time there, but not the last time. The service is first class, the food is simply delicious. The map is not overloaded. All in all 5 stars!

Every time an experience in itself. The restaurant, the furnishings, the service and the food have never disappointed us, rather we are thrilled that we would like to come back again and again. It is very family-friendly (children's meals, chairs and activities) and the dishes, you can see it and taste it, are handmade with love and freshly prepared. The dishes are special German fare and the prices are completely reasonable. From brawn to beef cheeks and great weekly dishes with seasonal vegetables, everything is included. A must for everyone :)

Great team and super delicious food

For me, there should be home-made "Thuringian dumplings" to accompany the roulade in an inn, and this also applies to red cabbage. Both looked like finished products to me. I know it's quick and cheap, but then I don't have to go to a restaurant.

We've been here several times now. You absolutely have to pre-order, otherwise you hardly have a chance. The food was always great, there was nothing to complain about. The duck breast is nice and tender, the dumplings are like homemade, the red cabbage is not too sour. All the other dishes are also great. The dry Dornfelder also tastes fantastic. The service is quick and friendly. Of course we always like to come back.

Just the right place for a meal in winter with snow on the doorstep. Crackling fireplaces, lambskins, candlelight and not forgetting delicious, hearty food. You have to book a table in advance if you don't want to go there for free. Highly recommended, very comfortable

We were lucky that we were able to make a reservation the night before for the following day. The service was quick, very friendly and attentive. The food came to the table fresh and hot. The taste was really delicious - I have rarely eaten Thuringian cuisine so well. All in all a successful lunch. The flickering ceiling lamp was taken care of immediately. The rustic atmosphere also has “old” pipes. 😁

Wir waren zur Silvesterparty im Schortental, es war einfach toll. Es gab alles was das Herz begehrt, Essen super lecker. Sehr gute Organisation mit den Fahrdienst. Hoffentlich gibt es noch viele Silvesterpartys die nächsten Jahre, wir kommen gerne wieder. Macht weiter so
