Good food and rustic atmosphere, especially in winter. Air conditioning would be nice in midsummer. Otherwise we really liked it.

Our first visit to the Schortentaler Kaminstube was very nice. We sat inside and the ambience is really great. I can imagine that it comes across even more in the winter time. As a starter we had the bread sticks with a really tasty garlic cheese sauce. For the main course we had the pork schnitzel au four. Since we come from Hesse, neither of us knew the dish. But it tasted incredibly good.

You can enjoy good, sumptuous food in a very rustic restaurant with good service. You should find out about the prices before visiting and possibly place an order in advance.

We had dinner with 12 people in the Schortentaler Kaminstube on a Saturday evening. The food was very good and the price/performance ratio was also good. Unfortunately, the complete menu that can be seen on the homepage does not appear to be available at the moment. The service staff was friendly and came to the table several times to ask if everything was OK or if we still wanted to order drinks. This wasn't our first visit to the Schortentaler Kaminstube and one thing is clear: it definitely won't be the last time either. We'd love to come back. Thank you again for the great evening! Unfortunately, this restaurant cannot be judged because, according to the waitress, it will now close at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday even though they are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m

The three of us were once again in Schortental for dinner, what can I say, you can't be more disappointed like it happened to us, the quality of the food fell from 10 to 3 points. For example, schnitzel from the packaging and not breaded myself, wrap dumplings also from the ready-made package and a sauce that was just a solid flour mixture, my favorite meal was ribbon noodles with fried salmon was the crowning glory, warm noodles mixed with flour sauce and then the salmon: toder went it doesn't. I'm really very sorry to have to give such a review. We usually enjoyed eating there because it was always delicious. Service was excellent as always, nice and accommodating, thank you for that.

We came from Gera and Jena and unfortunately didn't get a place, even though there was still a lot available. They didn't even want to serve us a solyanka and that certainly wouldn't have taken much effort. We were sent away unkindly. Service and friendliness is unfortunately typical for Germany. If you want to be served there, you should definitely make a reservation. Also on weekdays.

The service was overwhelmed with a group of 15 people and not very cooperative regarding children's meals. Very unfortunate. We know it differently. The food was delicious, could have been a little more.

It’s a shame we couldn’t try this place out. It closes at 2pm, we arrive at 1pm and they said kitchen was already closed. Unbelievable

We would have liked to have had dinner here and specifically drove off the highway. Although the opening hours for Sunday are stated until 10 p.m., the restaurant was closed. No information on the website, 3 calls were unsuccessful. The answering machine explained to us that they didn't have time to answer the phone because they were concerned about the well-being of the guests. An absolute no go, shot 20 KM into the wind!

Company outing, highly recommended with several people (170), staff very friendly... Getting there is also ideal for wheelchair users.

Drove off the autobahn just for this place. The restaurant was completely empty but when we asked the waiter he unkindly said there was no seat. Fun with stuffed unicorns.

Just beautiful. A bit of a bumpy journey that we would take again at any time. Plenty of tasty food, served in a friendly and quick manner. The guest rooms were “quaint” and well coordinated with each other.

Everything was great, I can only recommend it 👍 I travel a lot and can't plan far in advance. It's a shame it's hard to get a table. Would eat there much more often.

Unfortunately we can't say anything about the food, I discovered it on Google on the way home on Sunday. Made an extra 30 minute detour. No chance, nothing works without a reservation. Not even outside. This was communicated unkindly. We could come back in half an hour, but you can't promise us anything. Half of the places were free. There is no service outside. If it is due to a lack of staff, please let us know openly, honestly and in a friendly manner. We understand that. Not like that, however. A real shame. It was supposed to round off our last evening of vacation.

We drove about 40 km here based on a recommendation and had correspondingly high expectations. These were more than fulfilled. Don't let the surroundings - right next to the Eisenberg sports field - put you off. The atmosphere is very nice, you immediately feel at home. The service is very pleasant and the food is the best Thuringian cuisine with a focus on game dishes, but you can also find other delicious dishes on the menu. We were definitely not there for the last time.

I was looking forward to a salad with feta. On site we were rudely told that there was only a shortened menu for larger groups. In this case without lettuce or asparagus. Unfortunately there was no way in either. Really great for vegetarians. Perhaps this should also be told when making reservations for a group. Very sad and completely incomprehensible ☹️ Looking at the map online beforehand is therefore pointless. Next time we will celebrate somewhere else.

Every time an experience in itself. The restaurant, the furnishings, the service and the food have never disappointed us, rather we are thrilled that we would like to come back again and again. It is very family-friendly (children's meals, chairs and activities) and the dishes, you can see it and taste it, are handmade with love and freshly prepared. The dishes are special German fare and the prices are completely reasonable. From brawn to beef cheeks and great weekly dishes with seasonal vegetables, everything is included. A must for everyone :)

Great team and super delicious food

For me, there should be home-made "Thuringian dumplings" to accompany the roulade in an inn, and this also applies to red cabbage. Both looked like finished products to me. I know it's quick and cheap, but then I don't have to go to a restaurant.

We've been here several times now. You absolutely have to pre-order, otherwise you hardly have a chance. The food was always great, there was nothing to complain about. The duck breast is nice and tender, the dumplings are like homemade, the red cabbage is not too sour. All the other dishes are also great. The dry Dornfelder also tastes fantastic. The service is quick and friendly. Of course we always like to come back.

Just the right place for a meal in winter with snow on the doorstep. Crackling fireplaces, lambskins, candlelight and not forgetting delicious, hearty food. You have to book a table in advance if you don't want to go there for free. Highly recommended, very comfortable

We were lucky that we were able to make a reservation the night before for the following day. The service was quick, very friendly and attentive. The food came to the table fresh and hot. The taste was really delicious - I have rarely eaten Thuringian cuisine so well. All in all a successful lunch. The flickering ceiling lamp was taken care of immediately. The rustic atmosphere also has “old” pipes. 😁

Wir waren zur Silvesterparty im Schortental, es war einfach toll. Es gab alles was das Herz begehrt, Essen super lecker. Sehr gute Organisation mit den Fahrdienst. Hoffentlich gibt es noch viele Silvesterpartys die nächsten Jahre, wir kommen gerne wieder. Macht weiter so

Obwohl offiziell noch länger geöffnet war, hat der Kellner nur den Kopf geschüttelt als wir einen Tisch wollten. Ohne mit uns zu reden!! Erst als wir gefragt haben, was los ist, meinte er, dass man obwohl noch länger geöffnet wäre, nichts mehr zu essen bekommt. Man sollte das im Internet ankündigen. Wir sind extra dorthin gefahren!

Eine tolle Location mit wunderschönen, gemütlichen und urigen Ambiente. Die Bedienung war große Klasse! Stets nett und es wurde immer wieder gefragt, ob alles okay ist oder ob wir noch was brauchen. Das Essen war wirklich außerordentlich gut, mein Steak war perfekt auf den Punkt medium gebraten und auch alles andere war super 👍🏻 Bitte macht unbedingt weiter so!!!

Ein Gut bürgerliches Restaurant. Im Innenraum sind sehr viele jagd Trophäen was dem Raum seinen Charme verleiht . Hier wird Thüringer Traditionsküche groß geschrieben. Ich hatte den grillteller meine Begleitung hatte das rostbrätle wir waren super zufrieden aber man sollte vorher reservieren da das Restaurant gut besucht ist .

War leider sehr enttäuscht. Hatte ente mit Klöße und rotkraut. Ente war zäh und das rotkraut war nicht wie es das letzte mal war. Da die Gaststätte überfüllt war und ich ein Bier bestellt habe kam es leider nach 45 Minuten immer noch nicht an. Habe dann die Rechnung verlangt. Letztes Mal war okay aber dieses Mal leider nicht zufrieden, schade.

Gleich vorab : Man sollte vorbestellen. Wir hatten heute super viel Glück ( Di/18:00). Manchmal sind es diese doofen Zufälle und dann entdeckt man so ein Idyll... super nette Bedienung (trotz Unterbesetzung und wirklich viel zu tun), tolles uriges Ambiente und wirklich super leckere Hausmannskost! Wir kommen wieder 🫶...

Das Essen ist hervorragend und auch das Ambiente aufwendig und gut gestaltet, aber in der Organisation gibt es Defizite ( die wohl auch bekannt sind) .Es ist schwer möglich, einen Termin zu bekommen. Die Gaststätte ist sehr gut besucht, das Personal ist aber definitiv zu wenig und arbeitet an der physischen Grenze. Überbuchungen geben dann den Rest,leider. Wartezeit bis zu knapp 2 Stunden sind einfach zu viel, obwohl die Kellner laufen wie die Wiesel. Kommen trotzdem gern wieder

Lecker und tolle Wohlfühlatmosphäre

Heute spontan hier Essen gewesen, super lecker, schön gemütlich und sehr freundliche Bewirtung.

Absolut gemütliche Gaststube. Essen war sehr gut und reichlich. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und schnell. Ich verstehe, dass man reservieren muss, denn es scheint sehr beliebt zu sein. Ich kann nur jedem empfehlen, die Gaststätte zu besuchen und sich selbst zu überzeugen. Ich persönlich liebe solches Ambiente. Man hat sich gefühlt wie in einer Trapperhütte in Alaska oder Kanada.

Das muss man gesehen haben. Total gemütlich, top Service. Obwohl das Lokal voll war mussten wir nicht lange auf unser Essen warten. Einziger Nachteil, es liegt etwas abgelegen. Das nehmen wir aber gerne noch mal auf uns.

Wir sind hier sehr gerne zu Gast. Die Bedienung ist super gut genau so wie das Essen. Leider geht es nur mit Vorbestellung. Spontan mal essen gehen klappt hier halt nicht.

Für uns war es ein sehr schöner und gemütlicher Abend. Das Haus war voll - vorherige Reservierung ist sinnvoll - trotzdem war das Personal überaus aufmerksam und flink. Schmackhaft und schön angerichtet war der Grillteller, auch das Würzfleisch hat gemundet. Spaß hatten wir beim Betrachten der verschiedenen rustikalen Accessoires - es passte einfach in dieses Haus.

Urige Gaststätte, schönes Ambiente mitten im Wald. Man kann auch gut im Freien sitzen. Essen ist reichlich und gut.

Aufgrund eines Unfalls auf der A9 waren wir hungrig auf Umwegen unterwegs. Eine kurze Suche offenbarte uns diese Lokalität mit ausgezeichnetem Ambiente und herzlicher Bedienung, welche steht’s um das Wohl der Gäste bemüht ist. Im Gästeraum gibt es etliche Trophäen und andere Schaustücke zu bestaunen - ein Hingucker für jeden! Obendrein ein ausgezeichnetes Essen, da kommt man gerne wieder! Nächstes Mal beachten wir sicherlich den Hinweis, auch unter der Woche zu reservieren - die Hütte ist immer voll!
