If you ignore the location and the sometimes odd and unnecessary comments from the staff, it's a very nice place. The food was delicious, thanks again to the kitchen, and everything else was great too.

Drink coffee. Good selection of cakes, but apparently not all of them are really fresh. The completely dry apple pie was replaced without any problems. The hot chocolate is highly recommended. High price level - naturally.

Hello, The Schlosshotel Hugenpoet is a beautiful place in itself, where I've eaten countless times and actually wanted to celebrate my wedding in September. After spending several thousand euros on food there (sometimes two or three times a week), my fiancée and I went back to the castle shortly after the start of the new year to enjoy a lovely dinner. The food was good, as usual, but the treatment of a long-time regular customer was outrageous. After the waitress wished us a Happy New Year and greeted us with, "It's great to have you back." After dinner, I went to the cash register to pay, saving the somewhat overweight waitress some work, as it was very busy that evening. Unfortunately, I realized I had forgotten my card. So I paid in cash. The bill was approximately €156. However, I only had €150 in my pocket. I told the somewhat overweight waitress that I would be back in 20 minutes to pay the remaining, measly €6 plus a hefty tip. But this wasn't possible. I was treated like someone who didn't want to pay. After all these years, no one even believed that I would pay those paltry €6. I had to give my ID and contact details. Very sad for a reputable establishment. But never again. It's a real shame that for €6 you risk losing a customer who will never To scare away someone who has tipped at least 20% and thus lose. If I treated my customers like that 😱

We dined here with the menu carousel. Overall, it was a well-rounded evening, with friendly service and solid courses. I didn't particularly like the amuse-bouche; it was rather stale and lacked enough excitement. The dessert, however, made up for it. The decor is a bit dated.

We were able to celebrate our wedding in the Green Salon with our closest family. Planning with the organizers was very easy and problem-free; they were always available by phone and quick to reach. Changes and new requests were always accepted and processed quickly, and everyone was extremely friendly. The day of the celebration also went according to plan and without any problems; even small, spontaneous changes on the day itself were implemented. The location really speaks for itself; it is simply beautiful and cozy. The service staff was also very friendly and adapted very well to the daily schedule. Every guest was satisfied. The food was wonderful, and there was something for everyone. The menus could be easily adapted. Other service providers, such as the flowers, were recommended, and we were also very happy with them. All in all, it was a very successful day, thanks to the staff at Schlosshotel Hugenpoet.

Very nice Schlossholtel with very friendly staff. We had the castle arrangement. Our room was very spacious and beautifully furnished. There was a very tasty baked apple cake in the bistro. The restaurant menu was fantastic. The individual courses were presented to us poetically. 😊 The à la carte breakfast was a bit chaotic. The conditions here were overwhelming.

Extraordinary buildings renovated in a lovely way to fulfill the five star feeling of the hotel (this really old stone and brick castle). Fireplaces with live fires going in the evenings are cosy. But be prepared for the smell if you are sensitive. The fine dining experience is a thing I truly appreciate and recommend!

I can only describe the restaurant I visited today. The service was very friendly. And the food, as always, is consistently good. I particularly like the open view into the kitchen. At some point I'll sleep in a hotel.

My husband and I spent a magical weekend at Hugenpoet Castle. There was the arrangement "Favorite Place - Heartfelt" for our birthday, and we enjoyed every moment. The hotel has the wonderful character of an old castle, modernized with the necessary technical requirements. We were accompanied throughout our time in an incredibly courteous and friendly manner. The wine cellar was lovingly prepared just for us with numerous candles and the table was beautifully set. The food was terrific. We were also more than thrilled with the breakfast. There is no buffet, but a huge selection of delicacies are served according to your wishes. We are still very excited about this wonderful event and will definitely be enjoying it for a while.

From January 9th to 10th we had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful Schlosshotel Hugenpoet. The service there is simply outstanding. The staff was super friendly and helped us with everything. The hotel itself is a dream. Our room was cozy, everything was sparkling clean and the location is just perfect. We even took our own wedding photos at the castle. The hotel totally supported us. The backdrop is really unique. We can definitely recommend the Schlosshotel Hugenpoet!

We celebrated our wedding here and regularly go to the coach house for dinner. The location is super nice, the staff is very nice and professional. The food is well prepared and very tasty. The castle hotel offers a great ambience. There are several medieval-style halls available for celebrations.

First of all I would like you to know that I am in a wheelchair and have a disability level of 100% GAG with an accompanying person. My husband and I wanted to go to the Hugenpoet Castle Christmas market today, on the 2nd of Advent, around 3 p.m. When we got there, we wanted to look for a parking space and were stopped by 2 young stewards and we were told that there was apparently no more parking at the castle. They told us to park on Landsberger Straße. Unfortunately, we wouldn't have had a chance of getting a parking space because a lot of people had already parked there and there wasn't a parking space in sight. I asked for an exception and explained that I have a disability and am in a wheelchair and that I rarely have the opportunity to take part in such a beautiful event. However, it was rejected on the grounds that only hotel guests and people who wanted to eat in the restaurant after strolling through the Christmas market would be allowed to park. We were about to give up disappointed when we saw that there were still SOME parking spaces available! So we tried to park there anyway. Unfortunately, a steward there also prevented us from parking there with the same reason, even though there were still enough parking spaces available! I explained my situation to her and also asked her for an exception. She also refused. Apparently she had instructions that she was not allowed to make any exceptions! I think it's bad that profit seems to be more important than showing a bit of humanity! I have to mention that I have been looking forward to this special event for days. Unfortunately, due to my disability, I don't have the opportunity to take part in such events very often because my disability greatly affects me and I really can't go to such events on my own. Today everything actually went well, but my husband and I didn't get the opportunity to take part in this beautiful event. Unfortunately, profit was more important here and humanity fell by the wayside... It's a shame, I was really so happy. It could have been the most beautiful and special day for me in a long time! And all that was left was: disappointment, sadness and the feeling that as a disabled person you were no longer worth anything... Because it would have been easy to keep the parking spaces free for disabled people. I think there certainly wouldn't have been so many parking spaces taken up and people could have given joy! I think you still wouldn't have had to forego profit! I wish that the management would think about how a disabled person feels when they are rejected like that, and then at the next Christmas market they will have the heart to do things a little differently... I think it's a shame that my day had to end so sadly... Your response to my review was good for me! Thank you for considering and responding to my review! A stay that will be remembered Our stay at the Schlosshotel Hugenpoet was wonderful all around! As soon as we checked in, we were greeted in an extremely friendly and open manner, so that we immediately felt welcome and comfortable. The staff were consistently attentive and helpful throughout our stay without being intrusive - just the right balance. The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean, which is a given for a hotel of this category, but should still be mentioned positively. We were particularly impressed by the food in the coach house – simply fantastic! Every course was a pleasure, and the pleasant atmosphere rounded off the experience perfectly. The peace and the impressive ambience of the castle are a real highlight. We look forward to coming back soon to enjoy this special break again. A small suggestion to refine the offer even further: A gentleman cigar room, where you can enjoy a cigar in peace, would ideally round off the experience. Luxurious moated castle with a small luxury hotel and fine dining. A great very stylish bar and a wonderful fireplace in the foyer. The service is adequate, but not excessive. The Somelier is great

We were there for the Christmas market. €10 entry including a drink. Nice atmosphere and beautifully decorated. The Christmas market itself was very small; there were, among other things, window and fireplace suppliers on site. For us the journey of almost 60 minutes was not worth it. Parking also cost money.

I'm just rating the visit to today's St. Nicholas Market! I was obviously disappointed for the 10 euro entrance fee. Too few Christmas exhibitors. Honestly? What has a window construction exhibitor lost at a St. Nicholas market? The picture that shows the St. Nicholas market does not reflect the ambience at all. The tour lasts about 20-30 minutes. Absolutely not recommended for this entry, especially not with children.

We were at the Christmas market. We really liked it and the organ grinder was great. With so much space available, it would be great if there were more stands. The parking space offered by the Menden letters company rounded it all off, thank you very much for that!

I'm not reviewing the hotel, but rather the bistro in the coach house. We were guests in the bistro today after having experienced really nice and relaxing evenings in the bistro in the past and were very happy about the reopening because we really enjoyed the kitchen and the culinary delicacies. As usual, the food was excellent. However, the service - obviously a reflection of the general shortage of skilled workers - left something to be desired and turned out to be a perceived catastrophe in the finale. We wanted a Kir Royal as an aperitif - actually standard - but the service worker, Ms. Zeyen, after obviously inquiring and raising doubts when we ordered, informed us that cassis had been ordered, but the delivery would not arrive until tomorrow . We then decided on another aperitif. Actually, we never check the bills…. In this case, however, my husband did it and we were charged twice for champagne and cassis - 25.00 euros each. We complained about this and from that point on the service staff's mood changed. She initially left our table without a word, made a phone call and then asked us to write down an email address. When I expressed my request that I no longer wanted to deal with emails but - especially since it wasn't our mistake - that I would like the shortfall to be reimbursed for 50.00 euros in cash, the "service person" left again without saying a word came back with the cash amount, which she “placed” on the table directly in front of me, wordlessly and harshly…. An apology would certainly have been appropriate, but it was not forthcoming. How the amount got into the invoice also remains rather nebulous, especially since the order could not be placed at all. Unfortunately, this annoyance cast a dark shadow over the experience of culinary enjoyment and continued to concern us on the return journey, especially since this behavior was not only inappropriate but absolutely annoying.

St. Nicholas Christmas market. It was very nice.

I went there for dinner with 2 friends. It was exceptionally good. The service was very accommodating and the food was excellent. We would love to come back.

Great location and beautiful buildings. The employees are all incredibly courteous and attentive, and the rooms are impeccable. The small private park is also very interestingly designed with beautiful trees. In summary, a highly recommended place to relax for a weekend.

Castle converted into a hotel with an outside restaurant ( used also for weddings). The location has parking and it is usually not crowded. As a customer you get also free access in the back, into the castle garden. I was just visiting, so I can't write about the hotel part anything.

The surroundings and ambience are simply breathtaking and create the perfect backdrop for unforgettable events. We would particularly like to highlight the excellent service: the team on site was incredibly professional and fulfilled all of our wishes. They always had a solution ready and were extremely cooperative, which is extremely important for a smooth process - especially if you, as a service provider like us, work closely with the service. Thanks to this great collaboration, the party was a complete success. Hugenpoet Castle is definitely a location that we can highly recommend!

We celebrated our free wedding at the Schlosshotel Hugenpoet. It was beautiful. The service was very good and we didn't have to worry about anything. A wonderful weekend, it was one of the best times in my life. Thanks for that.

You can't beat the hospitality. Even the spontaneous babysitting service worked. Beautiful rooms, delicious food and everyone was very warm and friendly. We will come back for a little break!

Hugenpoet Castle. Found by chance while on a drive. I almost drove past. Large, free parking lot.. Beautiful castle, surrounded by a moat. Large courtyard where a reception is currently taking place. I was greeted very friendly and politely at the reception. Unfortunately all rooms were fully booked that day. So you couldn't visit anything. But you were allowed to visit the bar and the restaurant. Also the venerable fireplace room. The garden and outbuildings. The romantic garden with cozy seating areas. A small pond. You can have a picnic here. It was a nice afternoon. I'll definitely come back. Thanks to the employees who answered all questions very friendly. Especially those at the reception. Super It's a shame, Düsseldorf Airport is right in the area. (entry area}

I redeemed a voucher for a picnic in the castle park. The place is very beautiful. The price/performance ratio for the picnic is not appropriate, even if it comes from Hugenpoet Castle. 98 for 2 people. A pretty outdated picnic blanket. Per person: a tiny piece of börek, a very tasty summer roll with prawns, a small portion of couscous salad... 0.375 l wine for 2 people... A lot of it packed in glass containers, some wrapped in cling film...(Environmental???) All in all for us (4 people) not worth the price, sorry

With the first step over the threshold of the castle, the magic begins to work, everyday life is shaken off and the enjoyment begins. For us at Hugenpoet this means warm hospitality, perfect service and an atmosphere that makes you feel good. These are the promises of the 5 star superior hotel near Essen. During our stay, the stately property was not entirely impressive in some categories. But one thing in advance: We still had a relaxed stay and a nice break in a historical atmosphere.

Live like a prince and feast - we felt very comfortable and can only recommend the Schlosshotel Hugenpoet! The young and courteous staff, the furnishings of the rooms, the entire ambience with the impressive castle in the countryside and the extremely delicious cuisine make this house a real experience!

Distinguished location with excellent service, great breakfast and flavorful food. The team accommodated me with my request for a vegan, gluten-free diet. The atmosphere of this venue, which dates back to the 1600s. is truly made for recharging your batteries after a long day. The rooms vary a lot in design and color-scheme, which I generally appreciate! I’m a bit of a princess, though, so not every room is for me. The rooms that I’ve seen are rather small to mid-sized but nevertheless comfortable. If this hotel had an in-house sauna (there is a cooperation with a nearby gym), it would be perfect!

A culinary journey in a class of its own! The Restaurant 1831 not only impresses with an exciting menu, but also with first-class service and a charming atmosphere. Every course was a taste experience and the young service team took great care of our well-being. Absolutely recommended and we would love to come back!

Only the seating in the winter garden restaurant is a bit uncomfortable due to the flat backrests. Rather difficult for longer visits as it is not back-friendly. Otherwise, always recommended.

I really enjoyed being a wedding photographer at the Schlosshotel Hugenpoet! Although this was my 100th wedding as a photographer, it was my first time at the Schlosshotel Hugenpoet at the beginning of January. As soon as I arrived at the parking lot with a view of the castle, I was really impressed by the beautiful ambience. And this was just the beginning of a truly beautiful day in a great location. Trotz der Vielfalt wird die gleiche Auswahl wie für Nicht-Vegetarier bereitgestellt, ohne spezifische Optionen. - Vorschlag zur Verbesserung: Eine unverbindliche Vorab-Auswahl durch die Gäste ermöglichen, um individuelle Vorlieben sowie Allergien zu berücksichtigen. War beruflich vor Ort um jemanden abzuholen, deshalb keine Bewertung bzgl der Zimmer. Diese habe ich nicht zu sehen bekommen. Das Schlosshotel Hugenpoet gehört von seiner Lage, sowie vom Ambiente, nach wie vor zum besten Haus am Platze.

Wir hatten das Silvesterarrangement gebucht. Was soll ich schreiben: Es war nicht preiswert, aber es hat sich jeder Cent gelohnt!!! Das Schloss, Unterkunft, Essen, Ambiente, das Feuerwerk und besonders der Service und das hervorragende Personal. Ein wunderbarer Jahreswechsel!

Leider kann man den schönen Park nicht begehen, er ist den Gäste vorbehalten.

Die Schloß Atmosphäre war wunderschön... Aber das Zimmer war unmöglich! Ein alter "abgelaufener" Teppichboden aus den achtzigern auf dem man Barfuß nicht gehen möchte. Eine alte, braune Textiltapete.... Alles in allem sehr lieblos eingerichtet. Kommt den Fotos auf der Website noch nicht mal nahe! Und die Beschwerde ließ den Rezeptionisten ziemlich kalt.... Aber wie gesagt: Das Schloß, die Lage... Traumhaft schön

Nikolaus Markt war für mich leider sehr enttäuschend. Laut Website war klar, dass man besser mit dem Bus 134? kommen oder auf einem fußläufig erreichbaren Parkplatz in Kettwig parken sollte. Die Anfahrt zum Parkplatz war extrem chaotisch und stressig, weil die Straße komplett verstopft war und zwischendrin noch Fußgänger unterwegs waren. Als wir dann nicht auf den Parkplatz gekommen sind und weiter fahren mussten, haben wir auf dem sehr matschigen Parkplatz vor dem Schloß Landsberg noch parken können. Der Fußweg zum Hugenpoet war dunkel und ungemütlich (es regnete). 10 € Eintritt pro Person inkl. ein Heiß-Getränk war für mich ok, wurde aber nicht großartig kontrolliert. Haben Chip zum Einlösen am Getränkestand bekommen und mußten pro Becher 2 € Pfand hinterlegen. Es gab im unteren Vorhof einige nette Zelte mit Geschenkartikel, Essensstände mit Pommes Frites und Flammkuchen und ein Kinderkarrussel. Im oberen Innenhof wurden die Kinder von einem Nikolaus und Engel begrüßt. Es gab Life-Musik in Form eines Sängers mit Gitarre, dann ebenfalls Getränke-, Ess-, und Geschenkestände. Im hinteren Park gab es weitere Zelte u.a. auch Fallafel und Churros. Besonders gut gefallen hat mir die Möglichkeit, Stockbrot über einem Feuer zu machen. Leider waren überall bei den Essens-und Getränkeständen so viele Schlangen, dass wir nur einen Glühwein getrunken haben. Beim Flammkuchen warteten wir 30 Min. (im Regen) bis wir nach einem Stromausfall aufgegeben und uns dann für die gemütliche Couch entschieden haben. Mit der Vorstellung den schrecklichen Weg zum Parkplatz zurück zu müssen, sind wir dann relativ enttäuscht wieder gegangen und werden uns das Ganze in Zukunft lieber ersparen. Sehr schade, da ich das Ambiente grundsätzlich sehr schön finde.

Schöne Kulisse. 10€ Eintritt mit einem heißen Getränk ist ok. Bin ganz begeistert.

Der Nikolausmarkt im Schlosshotel ist eine einzige Frechheit. Hier zahlt man satte 10 € Eintritt, um bei einem schäbig süßen Glühwein (1 Tasse gratis) an nur gefühlt 10 Buden entlangzuschlendern (welche z. B. 3x gleiche Wurstwaren anbieten) . Die Auswahl der verschiedenen Angebote ist sehr klein, der Park des Schlosses nur zum Teil für Spaziergänge freigegeben und lieblos geschmückt. Wer glaubt, extra aus dem Umland dorthin fahren zu müssen, sollte sich den Weg unbedingt sparen. Das geht deutlich besser....

Toller Weihnachtsmarkt. Lohnt sich dort hinzufahren.

Mehr als 5 ehrliche Sterne geht nicht. Wunderbar. Im Hugenpoet fühlt man sich wirklich willkommen.

Leider kein schöner Weihnachtsmarkt. 10 Euro Eintritt um sich eine Kaminausstellung anzusehen. Mittelmäßiger Glühwein und durchschnittliche Currywurst geht woanders besser.

Wir beziehen uns nur auf den Weihnachts/ Nikolausmarkt. Für uns war es sehr schön zu schlendern. Heim u. Haus kann weg. Ja!!

Das Schlosshotel sieht aus wie aus einem Märchen.

Wir waren zu einem Krimidinner auf Schloss Hugenpoet und sind total begeistert gewesen. Zu den Zimmern können wir nicht sagen, da wir keines gebucht hatten. Aber der Service und das Essen waren sehr gut, und das Schloss spricht für sich. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Ein megaschönes, märchenhaftes Hotel in ruhiger Lage und doch auch zentral.

Wir waren hier auf einem Sommerabschluss Event. Die Veranstaltung fand im Innenhof des Schlosses 🏰 statt. Wunderschön. Umgeben von einem Bach und dem sehr schön angelegtem Park der zum Verweilen einlädt. Ich habe hier vor längerer Zeit mal gegessen und es war fantastisch. Hier ist es aber etwas gehobener. Nicht zu versnobt wie manche vielleicht denken. Halt etwas schicker und sehr romantisch. Vielleicht um den Jahrestag....Hochzeitstag....etc ...zu feiern. Zu den Zimmern kann ich leider nichts sagen da ich hier noch nie übernachtet habe

Wir haben vor einiger Zeit einen Gutschein vom Schloss Hugenpoet geschenkt bekommen, welchen wir nun eingelöst haben. Es war ein wunderschöner Abend! Bei herrlichem Sommerwetter konnten wir auf der Terrasse sitzen mit tollem Ausblick in den Schlosspark. Der Service war hervorragend und die Mitarbeiter sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Die gewählten Speisen waren äußerst gut und wurden toll serviert. Alles in allem einfach Top! Vielen Dank! Wir empfehlen Schloß Hugenpoet gerne als Gastronomie weiter!

Unglaublich, was für schöne Lokationen es mitten im Ruhrgebiet gibt. Tolles Wasserschloss, tolle Gartenanlage, super edles Interieur. Hier machen Konferenzen und Events Spaß. Und die Servicekräfte sind echte Könner und keine Studenten ohne Erfahrung. Einfach nur Wow!

Wunderschönes Hotel! Super freundliches Personal und immer für Wünsche offen, versuchen alles möglich zu machen. Waren hier wegen einer Hochzeit und durften auch hier übernachten, Frühstück ist sehr umfangreich und lecker. Das Essen auf der Hochzeit war sehr sehr lecker. Sehr schöne location. Gerne wieder! Danke für diesen tollen Tag!

Wir haben am 01.09.2023 für eine Nacht dort übernachten. Die Dame an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich. Ferner wurde man persönlich begrüßt und bis ins Zimmer begleitet. Das Zimmer ebenfalls klasse eingerichtet.Die Natur in der Umgebung war herrlich. Das einzige Problem war leider, die ständig im Himmel fliegende Flugzeuge über die Nacht. Man hörte leider ständig fliegende Flugzeuge übers Hotel.( wahrscheinlich wegen Düsseldorfer Flughafen).

Tolle Hochzeit, gutes Frühstück, freundliches Team

Ich war geschäftlich in der Gegend und habe mich hier wirklich sehr wohl gefühlt. Tolles Haus, nette Mitarbeiter und ein klasse Restaurant!

Du musst das HUGENPOET unbedingt besuchen... Restaurant, Terrasse, Event oder Hotel... alles sehr, sehr gut !!
